Sean couldn't believe his eyes. Someone had brought magic back into the world. He hadn't heard of anyone else using magic in years. He thought he was the last one left.
Sean spent the next few months stalking him. His name was Ian Lightfoot. He went to New Mushroomtown Public School. He had recently joined the school's science club and had started up a magic club. He was often surrounded by a group that consisted of an elf, cyclops, orc, and a faun. He lived with his mom, older brother, stepdad, and pet dragon.
Sean decided Ian must be his. He spent two months perfecting his plan. He put many spells on his house to trap his chosen. It would also numb the choices. He made his plans to take the boy. Everything seemed perfect for his plan.
Mark his words. Ian Lightfoot will be his. He doesn't have a choice.
It was a spring morning. Ian was happy to finally be on spring break. He was going camping with the gang. This was his first time getting to do something like this. It took him a moment to even realize he was invited. Sadalia was the one who brought up the idea. He couldn't stop talking about it for months.
Ian was finishing packing his bag when Barley entered. "Are you ready to go?" Barley asked.
"I am," Ian declared.
"I have something for you," Barley said. He then threw a box at his younger brother. Ian cringed as he realized what these were.
"Why would I need condoms?" Ian asked.
"Don't you have something going on with Sadalia?" Barley asked. That was true. Ian had a major crush on Sadalia. According to Althea, it was obvious she liked him back. However, they were both too shy to act on it.
"Parthenope, Gurge, and Althea will be there," Ian added. "There will be none of that."
"Sure," Barley taunted. "Are you bringing the staff?"
"No," Ian said. "Why would I?"
"You never know when adventure will call," Barley declared. "You don't know what will happen on your weekend trip. Besides, magic is known for impressing maidens. One Boom Bastia might do the trick."
"I just want a normal weekend," Ian sighed. "No magic. Just me and my new friends."
"Okay," Barley said. "Leaving the staff has proven to be a fatal mistake for wizards. But you'll probably be fine."
Ian's phone vibrated. "Sadalia and the others are here," Ian said. "See you Monday."
He grabbed his bag and left the room. "Bye, mom," Ian called.
"Bye, sweetie," Laurel called. Ian then left the house and climbed into Sadalia's car.
"Hey, Ian," Sadalia said. She handed him his regular coffee.
"Thank you," Ian responded.
"Now, onto Sharewood Forest," Sadalia declared. They then pulled out of the driveway.
