A/N: Hello, readers. It is 2019, and I have not finished this story, and it's been 5 years. Stay with me though because I will get this finished. I don't believe in not finishing stories; however, since it's been in awhile, understand that I will be proofreading more so than adding new chapters.
A/N Hello everyone. This is my first fanfiction on Peter Pan in OUAT, so bear with me. I love the show so much, and Peter Pan is by far my favorite character. If you haven't caught up, then don't spoil it for yourself by reading this fanfiction. Okay, on with the story!
Enchanted Forest
The land of magical beings and storybook characters is thought of as whimsical and happy place, at least to children of this world. Little do they know the mysteries within the quests that made their favorite storybook characters into heroes. Sadly, I was left out of these stories, but you're welcome to follow me along on the journey.
See, I was born in the enchanted forest, but my time there was quite minimal, so I thought. I was barely sixteen when I found myself being chased by the Evil Queen's soldiers. It felt like I had been running for months as I felt the familiar ache of my feet thumping along the forest ground. I looked behind me for a fraction of a second and saw the guards approaching me fast. Scanning around rapidly, I saw a pond in the right and sprinted towards it. Looking back one more time as I crouched near the edge, I pulled myself under and held my breath. The muffled sounds of the guard yelling at each other was all I could hear. My nose was burning, my lungs in desperate need of air, but I couldn't come out just yet.
After waiting a while longer. I jumped out of the pond with a gasp. Wading the water, I went around the pond, checking if the area was clear. As far as I could I see, the royal guards were gone. I slowly got out of the pond and struggled up the hill. Clutching onto a tree, I took deep breaths, trying to normalize my breathing. I looked down at myself and grimaced, moving my hands towards the edge of my dress to ring it. The wet satin made the nice purple turn into a deep shade only the Queen would don. Thinking of the wretched woman brought back memories of what transpired last night.
The Court Room was a dismal place. Queen Regina sat on her throne, smug as ever, thinking that her ominous castle brought me any fright. Looking at her made me shudder from disgust. Her actions against my village were the worst, and to think she wanted us to be loyal? I wanted to laugh, but the guards shoved me to a kneeling position on the ground in front of the Queen before I could even dream to make a sound.
"Ah, the little helper has arrived," Regina said with a smirk.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I replied, staring straight into her eyes.
"Snow White passed through your village. Is that correct?"
"If you know, why must you ask?" Regina scowled, looking to her guard.
"The Queen demands respect, peasant," the brute yelled, yanking my hair back.
"Yes, my Queen," I gritted. "Snow White did pass through our village."
The Queen smiled wickedly and ushered the guard to let go of my hair, now tussled from the manhandling.
"Did she ever receive help from you?" she inquired. I contemplated whether I should tell her or defy her even more. Against my better judgement, I chose the former.
"Yes," I said quietly.
"Say it louder, dear."
"Yes! Snow White received help from me."
The Queen stared at me pensively before clearing her throat. "My judgement with the following crime is execution. You, Violet Constantine, are scheduled for beheading tomorrow morning. Take her to the dungeons!" The two guards grabbed me again and dragged me out quite easily because I couldn't beat their strength even if I tried.
My eyes were vacant as I stared at the tree I held onto. I looked up at the sky and saw the light dimming. So, I walked westward once more, faster now that it would be dark soon. The tiny village of Rendora was far away from the Queen's fortress. That was why Snow White came to our village for sanctuary. The girl looked like she had went to Hell and back, and I felt pity for her and took her in to my home. Little did I know that the village coward watched my exchange with the fugitive and told the Queen about it.
Nevertheless, Snow was a wonderful woman. She hunted and foraged for us for days. During the Winter, we had little to nothing to eat the past years, but with Snow, we hardly went a day without three meals. Soon, the Queen's soldiers came, and Snow left as quick as she came. She promised to return, and she always honored her promises; however, the soldiers didn't just come for Snow.
The dungeons are dark and cold. I had wrapped my flimsy, brown shawl around me as I thought of many ways to kill the village coward. Then, I heard footsteps coming down into the dungeon. Thinking it was a guard, I receded into the shadow of my cell, but the door broke open with a bang. And then, she entered, Snow White with a beaming smile of hope. I walked towards her slowly and furrowed my brows. "Snow, what are you doing here?" I asked, furious with her for her brashness.
"I never break my promises unless necessary," she replied. "I couldn't just leave you here to die." I gave her a small smile. "Well, come on then!" she yelled. We silently run through the dungeons but stop in our tracks because the guards descended the stairs to come to check on the noise. Snow and I ducked behind a crate of food scraps as the guards passed us. When they were out of view, we ran the opposite direction. As we arrived at the entrance of the dungeons, Snow grabbed my hand.
"Snow, what is it? We don't have time!" I yelled silently.
"Take this." She handed me a clear bean. I gave her a questioning look. "It will transport you to a safer place."
"Snow, I can't take this! You know how hard it is to come by these beans?"
"I got it off an unknown merchant. I know you need it more than me. I have to avenge my father and myself. You have no need to suffer in this land!"
"Fine... but where will I go?"
"Just pick somewhere...somewhere you would have liked to go but never got the chance to." Before I could ask any more questions, we ran to an unguarded, secret exit in the left side of the dungeons that led straight outside.
Snow looked back at me, nightfall making her face shine even more. She smiled at me and ran towards the lake. "You know what to do, Violet!" she yelled. I put the bean in my purse and close it securely before running into the forest.
Should I go back to the village or should I go follow my dreams?
