Chapter 1-Lost but Found Again

"Ginny?" Harry said, poking his head inside the bathroom. "We have to go."

"I'll be ready in a second," she replied.

"Okay. I'll be waiting in the car," he told her and went downstairs to get his car keys.

5min later Ginny opened the door to their car.

"Kind of strange going to a wizard style funeral in a car isn't it?" she asked Harry.

"I know, but I just got my driver's license, and I wanted to try my driving out," he replied.

Ginny nodded.

"Was Hannah and Neville okay taking care of the children?" Harry asked.

"They said it was fine," Ginny answered.

"Are you fine?" Harry asked. "I know this is hard for you...You don't have to come if you don't want to."

"I know. I wanted to come ,Harry," Ginny told him.

"I'm sorry I chose Cho first over you. I just thought that you deserved better than me. And...you had all those other boys following you around….I guess Cho seemed like the easier option," Harry confessed.

Ginny smiled at him. "It's alright," she assured him. "That's behind us now. We're married and we have three beautiful children."

Harry kissed Ginny then started driving. After about 30min they arrived at a beautiful garden. As they got out of the car Cho's parents greeted them. Although Mrs. Chang looked somber and sad, Mr. Chang sent Harry a cold glare. He was still mad about Harry leaving Cho.

"Hello Mr and Mrs. Chang. I'm sorry for your loss," he said politely.

They didn't reply.

Soon Ginny and Harry moved away from the awkward silence between them 4. As they wandered about exchanging words the funeral started.

"Today we gather here," a man whom Harry did not recognize started while Harry and Ginny sat in an empty seat. The man continued on about Cho and Harry slowly saw himself tune the man out. He looked around to see many people crying and felt extremely guilty, he was after all Cho's ex-husband.

He still remembered the day that Cho's funeral had been announced. He had been reluctantly invited into the funeral by Cho's parents. Cho's death had been something unfortunate. Apparently she had been in an airplane when the airplane had crashed and she had not made it.

He was dropped out of his thoughts by the man who was now telling an announcement.

"Mr. Potter, Mr. Stoll, and Mr. and Mrs. Chang please come to 248 Lawrence Square after the funeral for the announcement of Ms. Cho Chang's will," the man told them.

Ginny looked at Harry confused and Harry shrugged wondering what this was about. He didn't think that Cho would leave him anything. He had guessed that Cho would leave something for her parents, and her new husband, Conner Stoll, but him? After all, their breakup had not been smooth at all. It had actually been quite messy with lots of throwing and spells shooting everywhere, mostly from Cho and the blocking spells from Harry.

Still Harry and Ginny rode all the way to Lawrence Square.

When they had arrived everybody was already there (supposedly because everybody else except Harry and Ginny had arrived by apparition.) Harry and Ginny settled into the two chairs that were left as the will-reader read Cho's will.

"The Last Will and Testament of Cho Stoll (nee Chang)," the will-reader started.

"To Mr. and Mrs. Chang she leaves Mr. and Mrs. Chang all her money in her personal account," the will-reader tol.

Mr. Chang took the small, golden key that the will-reader offered him and pocketed it quietly.

"To Mr. Stoll," he continued, "she leaves a box of personal items,"

The will-reader handed the man a fair sized box and continued reading.

"To Mr. Potter she leaves her daughter Marajade Gilda Potter," the will-reader finished.

At this everybody looked stunned for a second before Mr Stoll said disbelievingly, "She doesn't have a child. There has to be some mistake!"

"Well the birth certificate says otherwize Mr. Stoll," the will-reader said.

"But...But…" Mr. Stoll stuttered.

"Now if that is all," the will-reader said, rolling up the will, "I must get going. Mr. Potter, Marajade is currently in office room 2245 at the moment, so if you would please go pick her up.

Harry was just about to comment when Mr. Stoll interrupted standing up and shouting, "She is my daughter! How dare that wretrous, child stealing, attention seeking,...a….a...abandoner have my daughter!" Mr. Stoll shouted angrily pointing at himself and Harry, spit flying in various ways out of his mouth.

While Mr. Chang also stood up and shouted, "This is unacceptable! That man surely cannot have our grandchild!"

Mrs. Chang also stood up angrily and started cursing in Chinese pointing her angry stabs at Harry and the poor will-reader.

Finally the will-reader tried saying, "Ladies, gentleman, please. I'm just trying to do my job here! Marajade is Mr. Potter's according to the will. And even if she wasn't Mr. Potter's daughter which she most definitely is according to her birth certificate and the numerous blood tests we did on her she would still be Mr. Potter's."

With that the will-reader left the room leaving 3 angry adults and 2 very confused ones.

Finally Mr. Chang got up, escorted his wife to the fireplace, tossed some floo powder in, shot a stink eye at Harry, and left.

Mr. Stoll too stood up but instead of leaving quietly, he took Harry by the cuff, pinned him to the wall, and whispered, "You will pay for this" softly in his ear, then left.

Now only Harry and Ginny were left in the room and after many moments of silence Harry finally broke it by standing up and saying, "Well we'd better go pick her up then."

But Ginny stood up, taking Harry by the shoulder and whispering, "Did you really, Harry? Did you really? Is she really your child?"

"I didn't know Ginny. I didn't know that Cho gave birth. I'm sorry," he whispered to her.

"Harry. You know the more mistakes you make the harder it is to forgive, you know," she told him.

"I know," Harry said.

Ginny sighed, "I'm just going to let you go on this one, because you didn't know, and I know you're confused too, and you definitely need my help. Come on. Let's go get this kid."

Harry chuckled slightly following Ginny out of the room.

After several doors and several hallways, they finally reached office 2245. Harry knocked three times lightly on the door and waited for an answer. After some moments, a middle aged woman answered it.

"Mr. Potter! Sir, it's a pleasure to meet you!" the woman exclaimed. "I'm Lory, and this must be your wife!"

Harry nodded and asked, "Is Marajade here?"

"Ah...yes," Lory answered. "She is a bit rebellious…"

Lory opened the door wide enough for Harry and Ginny to enter the office.

Inside was a 11 year old with long black hair looking extremely stubborn and rebellious, true to Lory's word.

"Marajade, this is Mr. and Mrs…" Lory started, but she was interrupted by a rude voice.

"I know who they are," Marajade said rudely, rolling her eyes.

Harry took a step back, a little surprised by her behavior. When he had imagined Marajade he had imagined a nice, shy, polite girl, but this was quite the opposite of what he had been expecting.

"And I'm not going with them," she said, her arms and legs crossed, the book she had been reading flopping in her hand.

"Marajade…" Lory tried to persuade her but was rudely interrupted again.

"I'm not Marajade. " Jade emphasized.

"Fine, Jade," Lory sighed exasperated. "Can you at least talk to them?"

"Fine," Jade said, one foot jiggling mindlessly.

There were a few moments of silence before Harry spoke.

"Er...Jade," Harry started awkwardly. He looked at Ginny for help, but she just gave him an encouraging nod signaling to go on.

"I'm your dad," Harry said more to himself than to her.

Jade looked at him unimpressed.

Harry took a deep breath gathering up his courage.

"I know you don't know me, and that until a few days ago I was a total stranger, but we would really like to take care of you. I promise that you would always be loved and have attention and many many other things that you were not able to get at the orphanage. Would you at least consider it?" Harry asked her.

Jade looked like she was trying to be calm and keep her cool.

"Nice speech," she said, dropping her book on the ground and slow clapping.

Then, there was a knock.

"Come in!" Lory told.

The door slowly opened to reveal the will-reader.

"Is everything alright here? Why are you guys still not home?" he asked.

"Jade's not cooperating," Lory explained.

"Marajade, you will go with Mr. and Mrs. Potter. You do not have a choice in this. Your mom has legally put Mr. Potter in charge of you, and therefore you must go live with them," the will-reader told sternly.

Jade shot an impressive glare toward the will-reader before getting up, stomping, and exclaiming, "Well are we going or not?!"

Harry sighed and he, Ginny, and Jade apparated away toward their house.
