It was 7 pm in sparkle Miller's room. The light turned on, the bulb shining brightly as the butterflies flutter carelessly. Sparkle and her friends, Rob, Jess, Maurice, Tress, Leela, Cassie, Leonardo Raphael Donatello Michelangelo, and Carl were in her room about to start the crazy, laughter filled sleepover party. Rob and Jess were on the floor, a star themed blanket under them. Counting out equal amounts of the white fluffy marshmallows to hand out to everyone, with Rob scolding Jess countlessly and getting easily frustrated as he told his friend not to eat them.
Leela and Tress braiding each other's hair, with little compliments about each other's hair coming from both of them often. Leela was combing through Tress's Long, Black thick hair, the 11-year-old trying not to say 'ow' as her 13-year-old friend tediously brushed through her hair.
The Hamato Brothers all sitting in a circle, Donatello trying to get the torches to work, Raphael scaring Mikey, and Leonardo telling Raphael not to scare Mikey.
Maurice and Carl sitting on sparkles bed, sparkle lying in it, her Doc McStuffins themed bedspread on, as she and the boys were trying to decide on a movies they could watch, with Carl explaining all his fears a little too much in detail.
"You're literally scared of everything!" Maurice exasperates. Carl pouted. " well it's not my fault Mom doesn't let me watch anything! She drilled into my head that everything in the world was scary!" Carl explains defensively.
Sparkle was growing tired of this debacle, so she took the remote aggressively out of Maurice's frustratingly moving hand. Causing the teenager to yelp childishly. "Doc McStuffins! That's the best option we got! It's not scary! It's funny! It's simple! I know not everyone's gonna like it, but we have to decide on something!" Sparkle finalised, her arms crossed indignantly.
Cassie, Who was next to sparkle at her headboard, snorted. "Doc McStuffins? Really? That's a kids show!"
Sparkle glared at her, sitting a little more up. "Whatever, it's the only show I could think of that has all the things Carl requested!"
Rob, followed by a angry and annoyed Jess came up to the quickly gathering group, Rob holding the marshmallow bowls out of Jess's impatient reaching hands. "Cassie," Rob tried to negotiate, nearly tripping as the marshmallows nearly went flying, sparkle caught one in her mouth as she giggled. " we're going to be watching Doc McStuffins, sparkle's in charge and if Carl can watch it without getting scared then that's her best bet." Rob explains, to a unimpressed Cassie.
Leela and Tress quickly run over, their hair braided. " how about Moana? You know, the Disney movie? I haven't seen it yet and it looks pretty good!" Donnie hollers from the middle of the room, the torches finally working and in his hand for shadow puppets later.
Carl beamed brightly. Smiling widely. "Okay! I've never seen that movie either!"
The group sigh in relief, now that the movie was chosen. They all sat down on the floor, sparkle choosing the movie, Rob handed everyone their marshmallow filled bowls, the packet of extra fluffy marshmallows in between his legs, hidden out of sight of Jess.
They were at the 'You're Welcome' part of the movie, Carl and all of his friends dancing along to Dwayne the Rock Johnson's talented, Disney singing voice, Leela fangirling because her favourite lyricist, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote all of the songs. She quickly paused it as she was excited, spitting out Lin-Manuel Miranda and Hamilton facts left right and centre.
"Okay Lee, can we watch the movie now? I've heard like 99.9% of these already. Some of us are trying to enjoy the movie that haven't seen it before. "Sparkle says, causing teenager to giggle, shovelling a marshmallow in her mouth to shut herself up
After the movie.
Empty marshmallow bowls, and tired friends were about ready to go to sleep. Sparkle had the light switch closest to her. As she was about to turn off the light, Jess, the furthest away, came bolting upwards to her, slapping her hand away from the light switch. "Don't turn off that light! "He screamed in terror, his breathing quickening uneasily.
Sparkle looked confused, examining her non-injured hand in confusion. "But Jess, it's nearly 11 at night, and we need to go to sleep. I'm more tired than a race car after a race." Rob says, yawning tiredly to emphasise his point. Jess chuckled nervously. "But I'm not tired! "Jess lied, his breathing still not slowing down.
Cassie, tired, bumped into the light switch causing it to turn off suddenly, plunging the room in utter Blacking darkness.
Jess began screaming loudly, trembling lips chattering. He pointed to a huge shadow. "Monster! Right there! "Jess exclaimed in fear. Donnie quickly frantically fumbled with the torch, turning it on and quickly shining it to where Jess saw the supposed monster.
The light turned back on, as Jess was breathing heavily, sitting on the edge of Sparkle's bed, his feet trembling like a scared Giant, frightened to hurt someone. Donatello turned off the torch, kneeling in front of Jess, Rob quickly ran to get a wipe for him. "Jess? Are you okay buddy? You freaked out as though there was a huge spider on the wall, is everything okay? "Rob asked worryingly, taking his friend's trembling hand, and caressing it comfortingly.
" I think I know what you need, you need a check up. Your breathing really fast, and, I'm not sure why." Sparkle says, concerned for her friend. Jess smiles, relieved . " I think that's a good idea, and, uh, take your time!" He ads hastily.
" my doctors kit is over there, by the table. "Sparkle says, gesturing to a purple and pink doctors bag filled with doctor tools. Donatello quickly grabbed it.
"Time for your checkup, time for your checkup!" Sparkle and her friends sang, Leela and Cassie started dancing a little.
"I'm gonna check your ears, check your eyes, find out how much you've grown!" Donnie sang, using all the tools. The autoscope to check his eyes and ears, and Jess got up so Donatello could measure him.
"Time for your checkup!" Leela and Sparkle sang. Moving their fingers left and right as they dance.
"I'm gonna listen to your heartbeat, fix you up, ready to go." Donatello sang, using the stethoscope and checking Jess's racing heartbeat.
"It's okay if you giggle." Rob sang as he giggled, making Jess smile.
"This will only tickle a little." Maurice sang, as Rob tickled Jess a little, making him giggle A little bit.
"Time for your checkup, time for your checkup!" Everyone sang, putting their hands up in the air slightly finishing the song.
"Hmm, your heart rate has slowed down a lot, but that's because the lights are on now, to find out why your heart rate increased we're gonna have to turn off the light again." Donnie informed the group, Jess gulped. Jess shuffled onto the bed, his knees curled up against his chest, as he started whimpering.
Rob noticed his discomfort, sat on the bed with him and wrapping his arms around his friend, pulling him in for comforting, reassuring hugs. Rubbing his back, as his 13-year-old male classmate sat on the other side of him doing the same. "You have nothing to fear, Jess... Me and all your friends are right here." Maurice said comfortingly.
Donnie turned to Cassie, as she nodded, quickly turning off the light.
The room once again plunged into darkness, Jess began shaking wildly, his teeth chattering as though he was in the cold. He started stuttering Until he saw a shadowy figure on the wall. "The monster! It's right there! "He screamed in terror, his heart thumping in his chest. Leela grabbed the torch, shining it to where the supposing monster is. "That's not a monster Jess, it's just the way sparkle's clothes and her wheelchair look when it's dark," she moved the torch over to the shadow. "See?"
Jess gasped. As his eyes looked at the now found out shadow. "Wow, you're right..." Jess said ashamed, The light quickly turns back on as Donatello used the autoscope to look at Jess's eyes. His eyes were wider then flying saucers, big enough for aliens to land on. His face was white as a sheet, his mouth gaping open in terror. "Yep, just as I suspected. Jess, you have a bad case of The DarkWillies. It means you're afraid of the dark." Donnie informed the 12-year-old, who put his head down, ashamed of his newfound phobia. As Donatello drew a picture of Jess's found phobia. The picture showed Jess looking scared of the dark
Rob squeezed his shoulder. "Don't be ashamed, Jess. It's normal to be scared of something. Everyone's scared of something."
The rest of the group gathered on the floor, spacing out evenly among the room. Carl wearing his llama themed PJ's, and the other is wearing basic ones.
"Maybe we tell you what we're afraid of, you'll feel better? " Michelangelo asks, looking up at his genius brother with a smile.
"That's a great idea, Mikey!" Donnie exclaimed.
"So, what are you afraid of, Donnie?" Maurice asked.
Donnie winced. "I'm afraid of dogs or other big animals." Donnie murmured, embarrassed.
"I'm afraid of being alone... "Mikey confesses, a small tear dripping from his eyes, as Donatello hugged his youngest brother.
"It's okay, Mikey... me and your brothers are here... "Donatello said soothingly, kissing his forehead brotherly.
"I'm afraid of clowns..." Leela confesses.
" and I'm afraid of turning into that hideous monster I became thanks to the Crystal's power." Cassie said sadly, as Leela hugged her.
"I'm afraid of letting people down..." Leonardo confesses, hanging his head in shame, as Donatello comforted him. "You never let us down, Leo... You're the best big brother in the world. "He said proudly.
Carl opened his mouth, proceeding to name all his fears.
"I'm afraid of the dark, dogs and large animals, small and tight spaces. Being laughed at. My parents yelling yelling in general. Fighting. Elephants. Bats. Cheese after 3 am. And—"
"Okay, we get it!" Maurice complains.
"What Are you afraid of, Maurice?" Mikey asked.
"I'm afraid of hurting people's feelings with my jokes. Dad says it's not nice hurting people with your jokes, that's not what a stand-up comedian voice actor intends to do." Maurice says.
"I'm afraid of heights, and, I don't like disappointing people. Like when I thought I did when we put on our school play." Rob confesses.
" I don't like loud noises, and polkadots. I do not like polkadots." Tress says. But everyone looked confused. "What? It's a thing." Tress says defensively, folding her arms.
"And, Jess, I don't like the dark either. I also don't like the hospital... Or the fear of losing the ones I love, you guys or pinky and Brain." Sparkle confesses, as her mice friends came out from their cardboard box bed to see what was going on. Brain looking confused. "What's going on here? "Brain asked. " it's 11 at night, I think you guys should be in bed by now."
Sparkle giggles, nuzzling the megalomaniac. "We're trying to help Jess feel better, and then we're going to do shadow puppets, and then we'll go to bed, promise." Brain chuckles. "Alright, Make sure you brush your teeth."
"We Will." Sparkle giggled.
" good night everyone! Sleep well!" pinky exclaims. Going to their cardboard box bed.
"Well, I think that's everyone." Leela said.
"Not everyone." Donnie said promptly, looking at Raphael, who folded his arms indignantly. " well, I'm not afraid of anything! I'm the tough guy." He said. Leonardo elbowed him. "Okay, I am afraid of bugs, but especially cockroaches." Raphael confesses with a shudder.
Then, Jess abruptly gets up, picking up his yellow sleeping bag and heading for the door. Rob chases after him. He looks at his friend concerned, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Jess, where are you going? You can't leave! You're gonna miss shadow puppets! Everyone knows shadow puppets are the best part of a sleepover party!" Rob exclaims.
"But I'm scared of the dark! Now everyone's gonna think I'm a wimp!" Jess cries. Rob pulled his friend into a big hug, as Jess sobbed. Rob took Jess's sleeping bag from him, and sat him back down. Donatello once again checking his heartbeat.
" your heartbeat is still racing, your case of DarkWillies hasn't been fully cured." Donnie said.
"The lights are out What was that sound?" Jess sang in fear. As there was a loud noise just as he said it.
"It's getting really spooky now!
Shadows on the wall.
Not sleepy at all!" He said, remembering the huge shadow on the wall from earlier.
" But bedtime is coming, and you'll be fine." Leela, Carl, sparkle, and Cassie sang.
"Hey, Jess buddy, there's no need to worry." Rob sang, rubbing his back.
"With a switch, we'll turn the whole world bright." Donnie sang, gesturing to sparkle's flower lights above her bed, as Rob ran over turning them on, causing a soft glow to emanate from them.
"We can light the night." Everyone sang.
"That's no monster there. It's just my wheelchair." Sparkle sang, gesturing to her wheelchair. "You see? No reason to be scared." Sparkle continued.
"We can light the night." Everyone finished the song.
"A Night light! That's a great idea! "Everyone exclaims, going around to sparkle's bed. Looking up at the pink flower lights continuously emanating a soft glow. "Now when we turn off the light, it won't be so dark." Donnie declared. Cassie walked back over to the light switch, waiting for her signal to be given by Donnie. "Let's countdown. 3, 2, 1." Everyone feared, as Cassie turned off the light. The light was off but it wasn't so dark. Jess looked around the room, smiling when you saw the comforting, reassuring glow of the lights. "You know, you're right. With sparkle's flower lights, I can see where everything is, it's not too dark. That's not a monster, "he points over to the wheelchair. " that's sparkle's wheelchair! I think my DarkWillies are gone!" Jess exclaims.
Donatello giggled, checking his heartbeat again. He pressed the stethoscope against his chest, hearing in a very slow, calm heartbeat. "Yep! You're totally calm, your heartbeat slowed down and you're not shaking anymore either. I consider your DarkWillies cured!"
Everyone in the room chairs, grabbing their sleeping bags and putting them on the floor ready for their shadow puppets story. They all got into their beds, Rob turned his flashlight on making a shadow on the wall. He began to tell the story, using his crush toys as the characters, soon, everyone fell asleep.
The next day.
Everyone woke up.
"Mornin' guys!" Rob says, yawning and stretching. He got up, coming over and giving his adorable girlfriend a kiss on her for head. She giggled in her sleep as she turned back over. "Tress hon, it's time to get up." Rob said to her, she yawned and stretched, nuzzling Rob gently. The two of them are shared the moment, causing the rest of the group to giggle.
"Yo lovebirds! Can you share 'your moment' somewhere else? I don't wanna see your two snogging all day." Cassie joked. The two of them stopped their moment, putting on their dressing gowns. "Guys! I heard Mom Colin, and she said that there's pancakes at the table! Last one there is a rotten egg!"
The friend ran to the table, waiting for their yummy pancakes. This was the best sleepover party ever!
A/N:
Hey Everyone! I hope you enjoyed this story!
This story is heavily inspired by the Doc McStuffins episode 'Dark Knight' in which, Doc and her friends have a sleepover party. Sir Kirby(Voiced by Rob Paulson) admits that he is afraid of the dark.
In this version, Jess is scared of the dark and purple and her friends trying to help him by trying feel better.
Little bit of disclaimer. The fears everyone has, apart from Carl, and sparkle, are just random things that I searched. So if it's not correct then I don't know. Doc McStuffins is one of my favourite songs I watched it when I was nine and still kind of watch it a lot. I hope you guys really enjoyed the story it was really fun!
Thanks for reading! Read and review please!
