AN: A thanks to Mr. Soze for your review, both of them, of the original chapter before I took it down because I was too lazy to figure out how to edit a chapter and I hated the solid wall of text I made you all slog through to read my story so I restarted, I'm still quite new to this fanfiction game and shall strive to improve the visual appeal of my chapters as I learn. Please continue to point out my mistakes and if anyone knows how to make your chapters look less like an eye strain I'm willing to learn if you would be so kind as to teach me.
"Kacchan d..don't do this." a young teary eyed, green haired boy says as he stands protectively in front of another young boy on the ground crying. A blond haired boy with crimson red eyes sneered at the defiant boy. "Get out of my way Deku or I'll blast you away too." he commands as his hands begin to smoke and make popping sounds. The green haired boy remained where he was, "W..why are y..you doing this Kacchan." He pleads, "T...there's no need t..to do this." he continues.
Two boys, the same age as the rest of the children take this moment to speak up and goad their leader on. "Come on Bakugo are you going to lt Midoriya stand in your way?" the fat one says, as he's barely able to remain inflight with his small devil wings. "Yeah Bakugo show the quirkless nothing what happens when you play hero." the second one chips in. This one looked normal, except for the fact he was extending his fingers far further than a normal human was capable of in an attempt to look scary. "SHUT UP YOU EXTRA'S!" roared the blonde boy now identified as Bakugo.
He marched up to the green haired child, now known as Midoriya, and punched him. Midoriya fell to the ground at the hit and looked up to see the three bullies looking down on him. "Since you felt like playing hero Deku." Bakugo says as his hands begin to smoke and small explosions started occurring on them, "You can take his beating."
In a world where 80% of the population had powers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya was one of the rare few to have none. He had been taken to the doctors office by his mother, Inko Midoriya, to check to see why he hadn't developed a quirk yet, as most of the other kids in his grade had.
That day he had his world shattered when the doctor told him he wouldn't be developing a quirk. The doctor had xrayed his foot to see if he had the extra joint in his pinky toe. For studies taken on quirks had shown a correlation between an extra pinky toe joint and quirklessness. Izuku had the extra joint in his pinky toe.
The drive home was quiet and Izuku had ran straight to his room when they got to their apartment. When Inko finally entered his room she found him rewatching All Mights debut clip online over and over again. "Izuku." She barely managed to whisper out as she attempted to not break down and cry for her son. Izuku managed to hear her though and what she saw almost broke her attempts not to cry. Izuku looked at her with a broken smile as his eyes filled with tears and asked her a question that would haunt her nightmares for years.
"E..even though I'm quirkless… c..can I become a hero like All Might?" He asked as he pointed towards his computer monitor, which showed the powerful figure of All Might as he carried dozens of people on his back out of a fire, all while laughing and smiling fearlessly. Inko broke and rushed to hug her son who numbly sat in his chair as she sobbed sorry over and over.
The very next day as Midoriya dragged himself to school he got cornered by Bakugo in the halls of their elementary school. "So Deku what's your shitty ass quirk?" the blonde sneered at him. Midoriya looked at the ground and couldn't stop a few tears from escaping. "..." he mumbled out. "What?" Bakugo asked, slightly annoyed. Other kids stopped what they were doing to form a circle around the two boys. "I….one" Izuku said a little louder as more tears escaped and his face flushed red from embarrassment as he continued to look at the floor. Bakugo snarled a little and let his hands start smoking threatenly.
"DEKU!" he yelled at the boy and closed the distance between them. "You better tell me what your shitty ass quirk is or I'm going to kick your fucking ass in front of everyone." He threatened as he placed a smoking hand on the boy's shoulder. Midoriya jumped a little bit as he felt the sudden increased heat on his shoulder. Midoriya, either in surprise of the sudden yell or in fear of catching his quirklessness.".
That day Izuku Midoriya went from a friendless quiet boy that wanted to be a hero, to a friendless quirkless loser with delusions of grandeur in the eyes of the other students.
Midoriya woke up to the sun shining down on him.
He's bruised, he's sore, and when he gets up he sees he's alone. 'Well at least that other kid should be ok.' he thinks to himself as he gets up and dusts himself off. He fights back tears as his mind lets him fully realize how alone he is. 'How can I be a hero?' He berates himself as he walks home happy there was no school today when he had gotten knocked out this time.
As he entered his apartment he was greeted to the sight of his worried mother rushing over to look at his injuries. "Izuku!" She says as tears well up in her eyes, "How did you get these injuries?" The young Midoriya didn't want to put any more stress on his mother by telling her that her best friend's son had beaten him unconscious, so he lied, saying that he had been playing at the park when he had tripped and fell on some concrete.
His mother seemed to calm down but from the look in her eyes he could tell that she didn't fully buy his story but was letting it go. After calming down his mother he went to his room where he stored his most prized possessions.
Anyone entering his room would get one important message. He was an All Might fanboy. Every inch of free space seemed to be taken up by All Might Memorabilia and toys.
After taking a minute to appraise his collection Izuku closed the door behind him and went to his desk where he took out a notebook.
The notebook was well worn and the title read, My Plan to become the Best Hero. He opened it and started writing inside of it.
After fifteen minutes of writing he closed the notebook and took out a new one.
This one looked quite new and the title of it read, Hero Analysis for the Future Vol#1. Izuku then spent the next few hours writing down and analyzing the quirks of Pro Hero's he watched on his computer as best as he could for a four year old.
"Izuku dinner." his mother said politely as she opened his room. She winced a little as she gazed at the computer he was watching and saw a recording of a hero in action. Izuku paused the video and got out of his chair to go leave his room. Inko spotted the notebook she had gotten him for his birthday.
"Are you writing down your favorite heroes?" she asked her son as they sat down at the kitchen table. Izuku nodded as he started to eat. "Yeah I thought since I want to be a hero I should know the quirks of the Pros and see how they use them." he said after eating a bit. Inko stopped eating and looked up at him.
"Y..you still want to be a hero?" she questioned a little shocked.
Izuku looked up at her with a smile and with a voice filled with conviction that no four year old should have said,
"I don't want to be just any hero mom. I want to be number one."
Eight years had passed since Izuku Midoriya had made his declaration. The boy was still quirkless, friendless, and constantly bullied by his peers.
As Izuku began his trek to school he made sure to keep an eye out for any potential trouble. Unfortunately for the twelve year old, his luck didn't hold. As he turned the corner to enter his school grounds his path was blocked by three kids.
The three usual suspects to his bully problem stood before him with their default sneeres plastered on their faces. "Oi Deku!" yelled their ringleader, the one and only Katsuki Bakugo.
Midoriya looked up from the patch of earth he had been staring at to see Bakugo marching up to him with his usual look of hate directed at the green haired boy. "Y..yes K..kacchan." Izuku responded.
The blonde boy stopped in front of Izuku, "I've been hearing somethings in school Deku." he started as his two lackeys surrounded Izuku. "Things like you've been studying heroes and writing down their quirks for when you become a pro hero." Izuku started backing up while stuttering out words of denial.
If there's one thing Katsuki Bakugo hated was someone who didn't fall into place in his kingdom.
Especially when that person happened to be a quirkless deku with delusions of grandeur. So when he overheard a classmate who had been talking with his friends about seeing Izuku with a notebook titled, Hero Analysis for the Future Vol#6, and hearing him muttering about how different pros could work on their quirks to improve them and how he could best utilize their quirks with his talents…
Well it irked the explosive blonde. Unfortunately for Bakugo the green haired boy had managed to escape his grasp that day. And he would never start a fight in front of Midoriya's mother. Luckily through Bakugo had one last day to give the irritating Deku a reality check. So he had left his house early on the last day of school.
Surprisingly his two extras, as he called them and everyone else, were waiting for him outside his home. Through it was most likely the thought of seeing Deku get beat up that had roused them so early instead of any real feelings of friendship.
Ten minutes later a green haired Deku turned the corner to head into the school grounds looking like a scared rabbit as he made sure to not get in the way of the other students walking into the school.
"Are you lying to me Deku?" Bakugo snarled as he brought up a hand that was heating up and smoking. "P..please K..kacchan." Midoriya pleaded.
The fat boy grabbed Midoriya as the skinny one yanked off the struggling boy's backpack. Midoriya looked around with desperate eyes to his fellow students walking into the school. They either glared at him or hurried away in fear of garnering the wrath of the three bullies.
The slim bully rummaged through the backpack and pulled out two notebooks. One was titled, My Plan to become the Best Hero, and the other's title was, Hero Analysis for the Future Vol#6. Bakugo grabbed both of them and punched Midoriya in the face.
"SO YOU DID LIE TO ME YOU SHITTY DEKU!" he roared at the terrified boy. He takes the Hero analysis for the Future notebook and ignites it with his quirk. Izuku pleads with Bakugo but is powerless to stop him as he watches as his hard work turns to ash in front of him.
Holding the second book Bakugo glares at Midoriya. "If you want to be a hero so badly why don't you stop me Deku?" Bakugo says taunting the restrained boy. As Izuku struggled, Bakugo ordered his lackeys to let him go. Midoriya falls to the ground and Bakugo glares down at him. "Come on Deku you want to be a hero right? Then take your shitty book back." He says, continuing to taunt Izuku.
"A Hero's spirit is what makes them truly great." The booming voice of the number one hero plays through the tv as a younger Izuku Midoriya watches with a grin.
"A true hero can take a hit and keep fighting for what's right." The young Midoriya couldn't help a big smile from breaking onto his face as he lept of the couch and threw his hand into the air.
"All Might's the BEST!" he yelled as he ran around the room pretending to be his idol.
Izuku clenched his fists as he stared at the dirt. All Might's words replaying in his head over and over again.
"Give it back Bakugo." He says without a stutter. The blonde haired boy looked at Midoriya with a bit of surprise in his face. Izuku got to his feet and glared straight at Bakugo. Taken by surprise Bakugo wasn't fast enough to stop Izuku from snagging the book and running into the school building.
All three of the bullies stood there shocked for a second. "Did he just…" the fat one started before seeing the dangerous look in Bakugo's face. "Well the dumbass forgot his backpack." the skinny one said as he held the bag up.
Bakugo grabbed the backpack and threw it into the road. "That fucking loser is going to learn his god damn place for talking back to me." he snarled out as he stomped into the school. His lackeys were quick to follow after him.
'Stupid Deku thinking he can be a hero?' the blonde thought to himself as he just managed to arrive in time for class. 'Only one person in this stupid school has the talents and the brains for the role, and it ain't no fucking quirkless coward'. As Bakugo stewed on thoughts of anger towards the green haired boy.
