A probe from the Life Foundation company, when searching for a new habitable world in space, discovered a comet covered with living creatures called symbiotes. The probe with four aliens on board crashed in Malaysia, one of the aliens escaped during this crash. They took the other three aliens somewhere for investigations and discovered that the aliens need humans to stay alive and so they are symbiotes. For the symbiotes to live they need a host body and most of the time it ends fatally for the host body because the alien eats it from the inside out from hunger. Anne and Eddie are engaged at this point but Eddie reads a file which is about these aliens and the results of the research (about people dying because of this) that Anne had gotten for a lawsuit and confronts Drake, the company president, about it. Anne and Eddie both lose their jobs over this and end their relationship.
When Doctor Skirth hears about Eddie's confrontation with Drake, she tracks down Eddie to ask for his help. Doctor Skirth works in the company and cooperates in the research about the aliens. She tells Eddie that there are many people in danger who are applying to be guinea pigs, but she herself cannot do anything because she is afraid he would harm her family. After some hesitation, Eddie decides to come along to the company when everyone has already gone home after a long day of work. At the company, Dr. Skirth is seen by a security guard and quickly lets Eddie into the laboratory. He takes some pictures as evidence against Drake to win back his job and wife. He sees Maria, a beggar woman who lives on the street close to his house in one of the rooms of the laboratory. Inside her is one of the aliens, but Eddie doesn't know that. Maria goes wild and calls for help and Eddie takes a fire extinguisher and breaks the window but Maria attacks him and dies because the symbiote, called Venom, has changed host bodies. From now on Eddie is not alone, inside him is Venom, a symbiote. At the same time, a child rings the doorbell of Drake's house. What Drake doesn't know is that this child has the escaped alien from the crash inside him. The child enters his house and passes this alien to Drake, the child dies.
Eddie goes home after the 'break-in' and starts eating. He starts eating a lot because Venom is always hungry. Meanwhile, Drake discovers that there has been a 'break-in' because Maria is lying dead on the floor. Drake finds out through word of mouth that Eddie has Venom and sends all his guards on Eddie. One by one they are killed, thrown out of the window or eaten by Venom. This is when Eddie realizes something is wrong and decides to go to the hospital where he sees Anne. She has a new boyfriend who works at the hospital. He examines Eddie by taking an MRI scan but the sound causes Eddie to start shaking violently during the scan. After all, Venom can't stand sound but Dan, Anne's new friend, doesn't know that. They stop the MRI scan and let Eddie go home. Arriving home, Drake is waiting for him at the door of Eddie's apartment. They go inside and settle into the couch when Drake suddenly goes wild and attacks Eddie. Drake has a lot of power and the alien in him comes out, he even turns into one. Eddie does the same and after a long struggle, Eddie throws Drake out the window.
The results of the MRI scan don't seem well and Dan orders Anne to take Eddie to the hospital. Dan tells Eddie that his heart is weak and that the parasite inside is eating everything. Venom gets angry because he doesn't like being called a parasite. They put Eddie in the room of the MRI scan and scan again so Venom goes out of his body. The violent noise causes Venom to leave his host body but Eddie doesn't die because he and Venom were a match. Venom gets into a little dog which a little later Anne encounters who gets Venom from the little dog. Eddie is in danger and without Venom he is nothing. He is not strong and cannot fight. At that moment Venom (in Anne's body) comes to rescue him. After this rescue, Anne gives Eddie Venom back. At the same time in the company, Drake falls down. He starts screaming and then shaking and foaming at the mouth. Everyone thinks he is having an epileptic attack so Doctor Skirth leaves with him for the hospital. What Drake had at that moment was an allergic reaction with fatal consequences to the alien in him. In the car, this alien leaves his body and invades Doctor Skirth's body. Drake dies in the car on the way to the hospital.
The aliens want to go back to space and destroy the earth, but not Venom, Venom sees the good in humans. He is kind of friends with Eddie and Anne. The launch of the rocket is started by the other alien. Within five minutes it takes off. This rocket is on poles over the sea. Venom wants to stop the launch and is willing to do anything to save his friends on Earth. He and the creature in Doctor Skirth's body begin to fight. Eddie thinks the other alien is Drake, but it's not. Venom throws with the other alien, it strikes back, runs at him and pushes. Anne sees everything happening and fears for Eddie's death. She turns on a loud alarm from the rocket so that the aliens will get out of the bodies. At this point Eddie sees that it is not Drake who is inside the alien but Doctor Skirth. He starts to panic because they two are friends too. The sound stops and Venom and the other alien crawl back into their host bodies, but the other alien is faster and is able to quickly walk up on the rocket and enter the rocket, after pushing a knife through Eddie's body. Since Venom is not inside Eddie, Eddie is vulnerable and dies for a moment until Venom crawls back into him, a few seconds after the knife thrust, and heals the wound. When the rocket takes off, Venom scratches across the rocket with the sharp knife that was in Eddie's body, making it explode and catch fire. The aliens can't stand heat, they die as a result. The three aliens in the rocket and their host bodies die, so does Doctor Skirth. Eddie bemoans the death of Doctor Skirth who had done nothing wrong but had to pay for this too. Venom falls but he too seems to die. He says goodbye to Eddie with the words "Bye Eddie, my friend. Eddie shouts that it can't be the end and then falls into the sea.
Three months after the failed rocket launch, Eddie walks into a supermarket and talks to Venom in his head. Venom survived and went back to his host body because it was such a good match. They had actually already become friends through their adventures, which of course is very strange when you think about it. It's an alien that's inside you and you're the only one who hears him and in dangerous situations you turn into him, the alien. But on another note, do you know who they ran into there in that store? You guessed it right... Doctor Skirth!
