I don't see very many stories about Roman's time acting as Tom Jakeman and when I watched season 3 episode 16 I knew I had to write something about the Tom and Crawford scenes. I know there isn't very much demand for this story so I don't expect a huge turnout for it, but I dont always write what people want me to write, I write what I want. Saying that, I am very happy with this one-shot, it's quite short but it gives some insight into how Crawford reacted. I don't own these characters or Blindspot.

"Sit and Wait and Hope"

They were just talking about the land and what he was going to do with it. Hank Crawford hadn't thought much about how Tom was acting, he was too focused on his demonstration. Concern rushed to the front of Crawford's mind when Tom had winced, reaching for his head. He tried to ask if the younger man was okay, but it was as if the Australian couldn't hear him. Tom didn't seem to register any of Hank's attempts to get his attention.

Then Tom dropped to the ground, making one last futile grab at the back to the chair in front of him to catch himself, but to avail. That was a sight that Crawford believed he could never burn from his mind; his daughter's boyfriend and bodyguard collapsing to the ground and passing out cold. Tom hit the floor so hard.

Hank yelled for Leia to call for an ambulance and everything happened so fast. Hank rushed around the chair that blocked the blond man from view, he had no idea of what could've been wrong. Hundreds of worse-case scenarios flew through his head at lightning speed. The man seemed so healthy though, Hank was baffled.

When the Geneva EMTs arrived, Hank stayed out of the way. While he'd waited for them, he was careful not to move the downed man. He checked Tom's pulse and found that it was absolutely racing but aside from that, he felt useless. There wasn't anything for him to do. All Hank could do was sit and wait.

Sit and wait and hope that nothing was seriously wrong with Thomas Jakeman.

On the ride to the Geneva hospital, Crawford sat in the ambulance and tried to connect the dots.

Tom had mentioned something about the headaches a few times in the past, in fact, he'd just gotten off the phone with his doctor about them right before this incident. Hank thought Blake had said something about it before also. Come to think of it, while they had been discussing the land deal, Tom had looked to be distracted. Desperately fighting to put all attention to the task at hand, more eye contact than usual, hanging on Hank's every word and actively trying to get him to explain more. Tom liked to know the entire situation, it was just something Hank had noticed from the start, but looking back, the questioning was excessive. Almost as to keep the man focused. During the moment, Crawford hadn't really thought much about how Tom was shifting where he stood as if he was uncomfortable, but in hindsight, he couldn't help but notice these details.

Tom was good at hiding his discomfort, he was smooth about it all most of the time but it seemed like his body was tired of acting. It looked wrong to see such a strong and capable man being wheeled out of his office on a stretcher with EMTs fussing over him. They'd taken off his glasses and put an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose and it made the blond man look forign to Crawford, another sight he didn't think he could forget.

The EMTs asked him questions about what happened and he tried to answer what he could but he knew almost nothing about what could've caused such an event. When they arrived at the emergency room, Hank claimed to be Tom's father without hesitation and had the doctors order every test and scan known to man, hoping that one of them would tell them something useful.

Now all he could do was sit and wait and hope nothing was seriously wrong with Thomas Jakeman.

Fin.
