Yay! Tell me about more brother- sister pairs you want a chapter about. So far, I've got Luke and Amatis, Clary and Jonathan, Rebecca and Simon, Daniel and Maia, and Maryse and Max. (Maryse actually did have a brother.)
"I want Mama." Six-year-old Lucian Garroway's voice was loud and clear, he wanted his mother. His sister Amatis would usually swear that she would get her little brother whatever he wanted, but this time she couldn't. She frigging couldn't. So, she made that clear. "I can't, Luke because she's gone to live her best life with more women, and they'll probably just sit and play UNO all day and she doesn't damn about us. OK? So, I'm all you've got because both our parents have left us. And that's where we are, Luke. Alone. Alone as crap."
Saying that, Amatis stormed off and slammed the door as she sat down in her mother's bedroom. Luke so badly wanted to go after her but knew his sister. Sometimes, she just needed to be alone. Luke sat down and began thinking. What did Sissy mean when she said Mommy's gone? She's not gone. She just told me she's going out to meet her friends. His little brain began to hurt thinking of all the horrible things Amatis could have meant. He shook his head. No. Amatis just reads too much. He walked slowly to his and Amatis' shared bed room and went to sleep on his bunk.

The next day, Luke woke up to his sister shaking him gently. He scrambled up, his pyjama bottoms slipping down but he didn't care. "Is mommy back?" he said instantly. Amatis looked at him sympathetically.
"I need to talk to you about that, Lukey. See, you know the Iron Sisters? They make the weapons for all Shadowhunters? Well, mommy has gone off to become an Iron Sister. And now I'll have to look after you. But, since I'm not legally old enough because I'm only eleven, we'll have to keep this a secret. OK? You can't go play with your friends or anything."
Luke's jaw fell. He vaguely heard Amatis telling him to take a shower. He stumbled up and walked like a blind man to the bathroom.

When Luke finally came out of the bathroom, Amatis was sitting on the sofa reading. When she saw Luke, she quickly put her book down. "Should we play the Baba Agnieszka and Elphas the Unsteady game?" She asked Luke. Seeing him shrug, she added "I'll let you be Baba Agnieszka." Luke perked up. "OK!" Amatis asked Luke his first demand.
At the end of the day (they had only really played that game) Amatis came out of the kitchen with a plate full of her brothers' favourite treats. "You're better than Mommy, Amatis!" He said in delight. She gave a wry smile. "I hope so, bubby. I hope so."
