Author's Note: This is the first piece of writing I have uploaded onto the internet in years. I decided to start with something short and simple. This is based on a piece of fan art I made not too long ago, which will be an accompanying image on this story. This story is also cross-posted on my Archive of Our Own.

This is a Saeran x MC fan fiction. Min Chunhwa (family name-personal name) is the name I've given to the MC for Mystic Messenger.

Just one more block and the bus would finally arrive home.

It was eleven P.M. and Chunhwa was utterly exhausted. College had been particularly brutal today. Chunhwa knew that the degree she was studying for would require a lot of work, and she knew there would be times when it'd be particularly draining; it seemed today was one of those days. Chunhwa had to write an essay and not too long afterward that is due there will be a test, both of which would have a major effect on her grade. She stayed at the college much longer than usual, talking to her teachers and studying, sometimes alone and sometimes with her friends. Currently, she had only a portion of her essay finished. A part of her worried that it wouldn't be very good, but there was still plenty of time until it was due. She'd just have to keep working and revising it and consulting her teacher. Ultimately, despite her insecurities, she thought that as long as she worked hard, she can do this!

The bus stopped in front of a tall building and Chunhwa boarded off.

I wonder what if Saeran is asleep? Chunhwa thought to herself. His sleep schedule was rather erratic because of his time at Magenta, but with his own volition and some help from Chunhwa he had been making improvements. Still, Chunhwa was still a bit worried about him.

She opened the door to the building and walked through the lobby into an elevator.

Chunhwa had messaged Saeran earlier that she'd be out for the day studying and likely would be going to bed by the time she got home. He offered to make her dinner for when she got back, but she declined. She said she'd get take-out today, to which Chunhwa was the one to offer to bring him something, which he also politely declined. Still, she wouldn't be surprised if he went on and made her something to eat anyway alongside a serving of some lovey-dovey words and some other of his typical, sweet sappiness that she just adored.

Soon enough, the elevator dinged and the doors slid open. Chunhwa walked out and made her way to her apartment door. She took her keys out of her bag, put it in the lock, and opened her door.

Chunhwa walked a few steps and took off her shoes as the door behind her closed. Straight ahead of the very short hallway in front of Chunhwa was the small studio room, illuminated by the lamp on the nightstand next to her, or now rather, her and Saeran's bed. Lying atop of the bed under the blankets wearing pajamas was Saeran. His face, which was previously engrossed in a book, beamed upon seeing Chunhwa walk in.

"My sweet! How did your college work go?"

"It was fine." Chunhwa's bag slid off her arm and hit the floor, and she collapsed face-down beside him on the bed.

"Did you eat?"

A muffled "Yeah" managed to escape the space between Chunhwa's face and the bed she was lying on. She rolled over closer to him, her face now looking up to him.

"Are you still hungry? I'll make you something if you want. I don't mind. Your happiness is mine."

Chunhwa was about to decline, but then a mischievous smile crept onto her face.

"Actually, there has been something I've been craving. . ."

Saeran started to sit up a bit more, seemingly about to stand up. "What is it?"

Chunhwa immediately sat up and lightly pulled his shirt towards her and brought her face slightly towards his, her lips puckered out.

Saeran leaned forward and kissed Chunhwa.

"I'm still hungry. . . " Chunhwa teased.

Saeran peppered many kisses on Chunhwa's face and neck. Chunhwa giggled, eliciting a giggle from Saeran too.

Chunhwa said "I'm gonna go get changed and do a few other things."

"Wait!" Saeran said through a smile. "You didn't get your dessert yet."

"And what would that be?" Chunhwa smiled back.

Saeran kissed her. "I love you."

"I love you, too." Chunhwa lightly grabbed his nose, causing Saeran's smile to grow wider. Chunhwa then grabbed her pajamas out of her drawers and walked into the bathroom.

Chunhwa changed her clothes, brushed her teeth and hair, and washed and treated her face. She walked out the bathroom and into her bed.

"I noticed you were reading that book I bought you when I got home." Chunhwa started. "What do you think of it? Do you think you can read it to me right now?"

"I like it." Saeran's voice then trailed off a little. "I uh. . . I'd love to, but I feel pretty tired right now. If you really want me to, though—"

"Oh no. That's fine. We can do that another day. I'm happy to hear you like it!" Chunhwa said. "So if you wanna go to sleep, I'll just turn off the light then."

Chunhwa turned to her opposite side and flicked off the lamp on the night stand.

The two of them begun to adjust themselves into their bed when Chunhwa playfully said "Saeran, I'm cold."

Saeran brought himself closer to Chunhwa and wrapped his arms around her.

"Are you warm now?" he asked.

"Yeah." Chunhwa reciprocated and wrapped her own arms around him too.

"I hope you have the sweetest of dreams."

"I don't see how it could get any sweeter when I'm living such a wonderful one right now."

Saeran's bashful smile grew larger after that comment. "I feel the same."
