I do not own any of these characters. Warning: Beware of the darkness this story withheld within, and may the power protect you!
Quick note: If I were to rewrite Power Rangers, BillyxKimberly would be canon. I don't know why, but those two look way cuter together.
But sadly, I don't own Power Rangers.
"Zack, come on!" Jason called out from outside of his dark-skinned friend's apartment building Zack's family lived in.
"Alright, I'm coming," Zack spoke as he exited the building and hopped on aboard the backseat of Billy's car, next to Trini and Kimberly.
"Damn, what took you so long? You only live on the first floor of the tall building," Jason exclaimed from the passenger seat.
"Well, sorry! My mom made burritos, and it was my mistake to mix them with some diet coke my dad got. Not a pretty combination." The others laughed at Zack's explanation as Billy drove off. It was the weekend before the toughest year of their lives, and that was none other than senior year. Zordon had decided to give the team the year off, since Rita and her goons managed to get themselves trapped in a different dimension, and it would take months for them to escape and get back to their plans of the destruction of Earth.
The entire car ride consisted of jokes from their past, along with the adventures they had as Power Rangers. They laughed at the funny moments, but couldn't help by sigh at the fact that their days of being young, hip, and crazy teenagers may have to come to a close and they would have to face the future: graduation, college, jobs, marriage, etc.
"Man, I don't know what's gonna happen to us after we graduate," Trini spoke. There is no mistaking the concern in her voice about what the future held for the team.
"Yeah, I wish we could stay together after high school," Zack said.
"We could all apply to Angel Grove University when it's time to apply for colleges," Kimberly suggested with an enthusiastic smile.
"Not a chance. I'm heading to an Ivy League school after high school. Sorry, guys." Billy laughed, which he received a playful shove from Jason.
"You can't leave us, bro," Jason spoke up.
"I'm just playing," Billy chuckled. "But I'm hoping we could all have our own places after high school.
"Yeah, I can't stand my apartment," Zack exclaimed. "You see, our kitchen is MICROSCOPIC, and I have to share a room with my two loud cousins, and don't get me started on the bathroom, especially after my grandfather uses it!"
The others laughed as they neared their destination: the Angel Grove Fun Fair.
As they got out of the now parked car, the sounds of people screaming on the rides became present to the five heroes, which got their adrenaline pumping as they got their passes scanned and were escorted into the park.
The five began going on the rides together, going from the lamest to soon the coolest, since Zack believed it would end their night with a "bang".
At one point, Trini and Billy stopped to get some snacks, as the smell of fresh carnival food was too much for them to resist. Jason, Zack, and Kimberly went on to play a few games, with Kimberly winning a huge stuffed pink bear from a dart tossing booth, and Jason picking on Zack after the Black Ranger failed at Whack-a-Rat.
After which, the five gathered together and began to survey each of the rides, deciding on what to go on next.
"Hey, what about the Crazy Coaster," Kimberly suggested, pointing excitedly at the huge, tall, and intimidating trail she was pointing upward towards.
The other four looked at one another and nodded, going forward with Kimberly's plan. The excitement they received from the other rides they have been on already overtook the nervousness of what they were seeing. The ride was large, too large perhaps, but honestly, what's the worst that could happen. These rides were tested to be safe...right?
As he walked behind his friends, Billy suddenly stopped in his tracks. There was a message that kept replaying in his mind like a broken recorder. It was like a dark voice that took over his mind for a quick bit, relaying a message that soon became clear: BACK OUT NOW, BLUE RANGER!
Billy managed to calm himself down as he felt a hand be placed on his shoulder. He looked up and saw his Vietnamese friend look at him with concern in her eyes.
"You okay," Trini asked worriedly.
Billy hesitated before he managed to get a hold of himself. He smiled at her. "Yeah, I'm fine. Let's have some fun."
The so-called Crazy Coaster was built like any coaster and all and only has three separate seats connected. Zack decided to sit by himself in the front, Jason and Kimberly decided to sit with each other in the back, while Trini and Billy sat in the back. The ride began to move and they were all riddled with so much adrenaline, they figured it would kill them.
The ride went swell except for a few shudders here and there. Trini looked at her right. "Are these supposed to be normal?"
"I-I don't know," Billy stuttered with fear in his voice. The intervals were shortening and the shudders began to become more frequent. The five began to panic a little. They approached a loop and Kimberly nearly screamed as the ride began to shudder even more.
"Everybody hang on!" Jason hollered. The five decided to remain calm as the ride continued. They would be fine, right? Hardly any accidents happen in this fair.
If only their hopes matched the outcome of that night. The five rangers on the ride were panicking as sparks began to fly around.
"Oh my god!" Zack yelled.
"Billy, hold on to me!" Trini spoke as she wrapped her arms around Billy's waist. Billy blushed a little but then his attention went straight forward at Kimberly and Jason and was horrified as he realized they were in mortal danger.
"Zack!" Kimberly yelled. Zack turned back and lost his breath as he saw that the very restraint keeping the red and pick Rangers on the ride were disassembling at a rate that Zack needed to take action to save his friends' lives.
Zack loosened his own restrain and nearly jumped to grab both of their arms. Just then, to everybody's sheer horror, the restraint completely tore off, with Kimberly and Jason being hurled back and hanging on to Zack for their goddamn lives!
Trini and Billy screamed from behind at the sight before them. People from down below were screaming with terror at the sight of the teenagers dangling for their lives. Angel Grove officials were called immediately to take action and save the lives of the five anonymous Power Rangers.
"Billy, listen to me, there's something I have to tell you!" Trini spoke. Billy tore his eyes off the horrific sight of the state of his other friends to look down at the Trini.
"Listen, Billy, if something happens, I just wanted to let you know that I love you. Not like a friendship way, but perhaps like, a passionate way. I had these strong feelings for you and I was so nervous about telling you. But I figured I might as well stay it now. I love you, Billy."
Billy was stunned but still help his hands locked onto his restraint, but soon enough, before he even knew it, Trini's restraint tore off.
Trini screamed as she was hurled back, but Billy managed to use his quick reflexes to catch her on, holding onto her for real life.
Meanwhile, Zack ground his teeth as his grip on both Jason and Kimberly began to loosen. It became clear to the both of them that Zack wouldn't be able to hold onto them for much longer and he was losing strength fast.
Jason's eyes dissolved from fear to a sad understanding and acceptance. He knew Zack only had enough strength to save one of them, and he figured he might as well let Kimberly live. She deserved to live more than him, or at least that's what Jason thought, but he had to make self-sacrifice to save his friends
"Zack, it's okay. I just wanted to say thank you," Jason spoke up, but there was no denying that his voice was still coated with fear.
"What?" Zack spoke in confusion.
"Save her! Not me, alright! Tell Zordon I'm sorry and it was an honor being a Power Ranger! Tell my mom and dad I'm sorry and I love them! Thanks for being a good friend!'
Kimberly began to gather what Jason was getting at here, and it didn't help how she felt about this situation. If anything, it made her feel ten times more frantic and petrified. But, horrifically, the ride shuddered, causing Zack to lose his grip on Jason. Jason completely slipped off of Zack's grasp and fell backward.
Trini screeched as Jason bumped into her, causing her to lose her grip on Billy. Billy cried in vain as the Red and Yellow Rangers plummeted to the ground. Zack's mind dulled and almost completely went into a complete shutdown. All he remembered that night was the sight of Trini and Jason both laying flat next to each other on the concrete floor, lifeless, while the ear-reaping sounds of Billy and Kimberly crying and screaming their lungs off pounded his ears.
He managed to use the last bit of strength he had within himself and pulled Kimberly into his seat.
Yup, that was dark. What will Zordon do now that he had lost two of his best heroes? Will this make Rita's quest to conquer Earth much easier? And what was that voice in Billy's head to warned him to back out?
