She huffed as her back suddenly collided heavily against the wall of her dimly lit office. Korra advanced on her quickly, a crazed light glinting in her eye as she closed the gap between them until they were just inches apart.
She'd never seen the avatar like this, so… wild.
Korra's eager fingers jerked up to grab and rip open the engineer's black jacket in one swift motion. Asami inhaled sharply, raising her eyebrows in a complete but unresisting bewilderment as buttons clattered to the floor and rolled in every direction. The avatar paused, staring her down and panting heavily.
"Korra?-oh!"
Korra almost growled as she claimed the shocked scarlet lips in a fervent kiss. Pressing her sculpted body against the CEO's, and bucking her hips a little with an apparent and insisting need, Korra's heat seemed to be rolling off her in waves. She forced her tongue into the engineer's mouth, making her head bump against the wall that she was pinned to. Asami, who was frozen in shock initially, felt her body start to melt as her heart rate elevated
Korra advanced, working her mouth up the jaw line in a searing trail of passionate kisses, her hands threading through raven hair. Asami gasped sharply as the fingers tightened suddenly and teeth met against the delicate skin of her neck in the same instant. She whimpered, but let her eyelids slide shut as she felt them release. This happened three more times, drawing sharp noises and squirms from Asami with every bruise, until Korra's lips brushed delicate kisses over the marks she'd just created.
Korra's hands traveled down Asami's heaving sides to her hips. They found the edge of her shirt and began to push under it with a touch like fire. Asami inhaled shakily, but then felt Korra's mouth at her neck begin to descend to her chest.
Asami's own hands came up to tuck under Korra's chin, forcing her to look up. Chips of sapphire met pools of emerald, and Asami saw something there that drew another surprised gasp.
"Korra, are you o-"
Korra leaned in quickly to stop her lips with a frantic kiss, effectively cutting off the question as hands began to roam again. With another jerk and the sound of rending cloth, Korra had the engineer's pants open, eliciting another startled gasp and exposing the laced black silk beneath the torn fabric. It almost scared Asami, the intensity of this attack. Not because of the way she was being handled, but because beneath the fiery passion, she could sense something was off.
A certain kind of reckless desperation that felt almost like... pain.
"Korra, wait-"
But her words cut off in a squeak as the avatar grabbed her by the waist, and twisted her around to be set roughly on the desk. Asami's hands shot out to anchor around Korra's neck as papers scattered everywhere. The last thing Asami saw was a desperate abandon twist Korra's features, spilling out of her eyes in shiny trails down her cheeks. Then the lamp toppled from the desk, shattering musically to the floor, as the only light in the room suddenly went out.
The darkness settled around them in the abrupt stillness, but Asami almost immediately felt a shift. She reached down quickly to stop the descending face again with her hands.
"Korra, please!" The words were sharp but tinged with anxiety, "Stop-are you ok?" She felt the wetness on Korra's warm cheeks, as the avatar's eyes pulled tightly shut in a grimace.
Korra's hands gripped the edges of the ruined black jacket and pulled Asami close with a small, choked sob.
"Korra?" The concern in her voice was unmistakable now.
Suddenly the avatar broke into a flood of tears, words rushing out between gasps, "I'm s-so s-sorry Asami... this was... s-so wrong, I-I...I-I'm j-just… I feel so...a-alone.…" Her voice was so heavy with despair, Asami almost winced. She was about to speak but the avatar continued.
"I-I'm so…. scared... a-all the t-time… of everything-j-just..everything….It's to-too.. too much.. It's all too much..." She leaned in to press her forehead against the engineer's, still clutching tightly to the fabric of the jacket as her voice began to rise in anguish, "I don't know what I'm-I'm doing, and I d-don't think I can...d-do this anymore." The grief twisting her words and the vulnerability of this moment in the dark filled Asami's eyes with tears.
Asami wrapped her arms around Korra and felt her shoulders shaking uncontrollably. Instead of heat, an intense cold seemed to be settling all around them now. The avatar turned her face to cry bitterly into the collar of the jacket as the engineer began to make soft, soothing sounds.
"Hey.. SShhhhh, it's ok….Korra, it will be ok...shhh...you're not alone.." The avatar buried her face deeper into the neck she'd just assaulted and wept. The CEO tilted her head down to press her cheek against Korra's tear streaked face, rocking them both gently from side to side. But Korra continued to sob, even more despairing than ever.
"Korra… listen to me…" Asami breathed, still cradling the water tribe girl, "you're amazing… and I've seen you do amazing things...even when you're not running around, holding up the sky as the avatar…. You're the strongest person I know…and it's because of who you are and everything you've been through..." she paused for a moment, holding Korra still, before continuing in a measured tone, "and... no matter what happens, no matter how crazy things get Korra ...you're not alone...I'm here."
She lifted a hand to rest on Korra's heart as she said this last, and pressed her ruby lips against her ear to whisper again, "I'm right here." The avatar breathed in her scent deeply, letting the words wash over and calm her as she melted into steady arms. The cold started to ebb as something quiet and soft, like a match being struck, lit up the gloom inside her.
They held each other like that, unmoving, until Korra's breathing started to even out. After a while, Asami lifted her cheek but Korra's hand shot up almost immediately to catch her. "Pl-Please don't go."
Asami leaned in to ghost her lips over Korra's. "I'm right here," she repeated softly, then leaned in slowly, almost chaste. The kiss lasted only a moment before Korra felt fingers gently brush the tears from her cheeks. She pressed her face into the touch, turning to kiss the palm as she exhaled shakily and clutched the wrist almost desperately. Then she let both hands fall between them to settle on Asami's hips with a heavy sigh. When she spoke, her voice was steady but thick with regret, "Asami...I..I'm so sorry... I shouldn't have-"
"Shhh, It's ok…" Asami said quietly and then seemed to hesitate.
Korra shook her head, "No-it wasn't right, and I'm really, really sorr-"
"Don't," Asami interrupted with a slight smile. "Don't be sorry." She dropped her voice to a whisper, turning her head to put her own lips close to an ear again, "I understand.." she kissed the ear softly, "…believe me," she breathed before slowly pushing in her tongue.
The sudden energy shift made Korra shiver. Her fingers tightened on the engineer's waist, jerking her forward in a spasm. Asami grunted then shifted on the desk, arching her back to wrap her legs around the avatar but Korra held her waist tentatively, and almost rigid in hesitation. "But.."
"There's absolutely..." the engineer encouraged, reaching down to clasp the wrist of the water tribe girl, "...nothing..." she paused again to tug the hand under the lacy hemline at her waist "...to be sorry about..." Asami chuckled as she heard the gasp of realization from Korra at how wet she was from the earlier assault. "See?"
And even though it was pitch black, Korra did. She began to swirl her fingers slowly and relished the soft, musical sounds beginning to spill from those beautiful lips right into her ear. Asami's hips rolled involuntarily, and every movement, every breath, every whimper seemed to match the slow pace that Korra set with her fingers. The needy ball in her core began to tighten again as the engineer's body continued to move incessantly against her. This wordless plea was so intoxicating, it made her desperate for more. Asami seemed to agree.
"Inside…" she insisted as she clutched the wrist harder, making the avatar's heart skip a beat, the animalistic desire flaring again in her chest. Asami grunted softly as she felt a finger push into her, but then groaned richly as she felt it begin to slip slowly in and out.
Korra hummed with approval as she felt hips rock forward to meet her in the steadily increasing tempo. The motion forced Korra deeper with each thrust and the engineer snaked her free hand around the avatar's neck to anchor again, breathing hard.
"Another.." Asami whined in her ear, releasing her grip on the busy wrist and sliding her hand down Korra's back trying to urge her closer. Korra leaned down to brush a kiss on the porcelain neck as she pushed in another finger. Asami's body tensed, and she inhaled an almost pained breath.
"Are you sure.. this is ok?" Korra breathed into the CEO's neck, slipping out of her as she opened her mouth wider to claim the skin gently with her teeth.
"Yesssss," Asami hissed, sounding desperate now. "Don't stop."
Korra growled at this, resuming her pace, and was rewarded with a sound of pure pleasure. She began twisting her fingers every time she entered, and Asami whined and twisted her own in the avatar's chestnut hair. Asami's body clenched and fidgeted as she tried to angle her hips harder into each thrust but still keeping as close a contact as she could.
"Don't stop...Korra," she whimpered, tilting her head back slightly, "….please... Don't s-ssstop….. d-don't…s-ss," she murmured, letting the words fail and transform into a very satisfying moan. Gasps of pleasure intermingled with the rough, wet sounds of desire to create an absolutely irresistible harmony. Korra reclaimed ruby lips, savoring the sweet unity of it all.
She couldn't imagine feeling more alive: The tangled energy of tension in her core, the slippery tight heat around her fingers, the soft desperation moaning into her mouth and the sweaty mess that was her best friend rocking into her-it was all more than enough to chase the darkness away. Korra was so consumed by the witness, no-control--of this unraveling, she began to get lost in the rhythm, wanting to stay suspended in this moment; passion at the edge of a free fall.
"Korra!" A strangled cry rent the air as another finger joined the rest in pumping her recklessly to a crescendo. Korra's desire was trying to tear out of her now, a white hot blaze in her chest, and the air around them seemed almost to crackle with the intensity of it.
"Korra…" the engineer whimpered softly, "Please..."
Korra's heartbeat was erratic, her breathing hard, haggard, and irregular. About to be overtaken by it all, she turned her head to whisper in Asami's ear, "..I love you.."
Asami arched her back, straining tensely before crying out again and pulsating wildly around Korra's fingers. The avatar's own voice joined in harmony as she immediately followed in release, and it felt like riding ecstasy on waves of light.
It was in that moment that she knew- really felt it, to the depths of her being.
She wasn't alone.
...never really was.
The liquid gold connection that had always entwined them seemed to shine its radiant glow brightly in her senses now, enveloping her in its warmth and certainty.
Undeniable.
...And to think, all it took was a little darkness to finally see.
