Initial D: The Run
Takumi Fujiwara is now 20 years old and left Mt. Akina to San Francisco to become a professional racer. At first, he is racing in legally sanctioned races in closed circuits and being a delivery boy as a side job. Until one day, A friend that he met in one of his competitions introduced him to a massive illegal cross-country street race with 250 racers joining in and a $25 million cash prize. Will he win this or lose to another rival?
Chapter 1, Stage 1: San Francisco
Takumi gets his new ride from a car dealer in Embarcadero. The car is being delivered via truck for 9 hours and more. Inside the containers, is a Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Its stock and Takumi's readying up the money he will use to buy racing parts for it. He is waiting besides his other car, A Toyota Corolla AE86. It is white and has black side skirts, bumpers, and rear bumpers. It reminds him of the car he once used on the mountain passes on his early days in Japan. Then, the truck that just arrived pulled up beside him, and the driver walked out of it.
"Hey, pal the car is here. You have a pretty great new ride now huh."
"Thanks." He replied.
The guy in the truck handed him the keys to the new Subaru, which is now rolled out of the containers.
Takumi then rode off with to the car. Its blue, has spoilers that makes it look special despite not being modified yet, a slotted hood, and the engine sounds… is like music to the ears. He wasted no time bringing it in the garage where he once modified another car, a Toyota Supra, which has been blown and totaled in a recent race. He then removes the stock engine and placed it whit a one more optimized for circuit racing. The transmission is changed to another one that makes it lose lesser power while racing, tires that had better grip, And a Stage 3 Turbo for a faster ride.
Takumi then rolled the garage doors and set out to test the Subaru. It handled perfectly well on the asphalt roads. He is planning to call the dealer to send a review about the car.
Later that night he sent an email to the dealer he bought his new car from. It says about how great the car is. The dealer replied, and said this:
"Hey there man thanks for enjoying the car I sold to you. By the way, I've heard you're a racer from Japan you're good at drifting, right? Anyways that's just what I've heard from your fans I think you can join The Run. Do you know what that is? It's an illegal cross-country race from San Francisco to New York with 250 drivers competing for a 25 million cash pool! My cousin is joining in it actually."
Takumi widened his eyes. A cross-country race? For 25 million? Right now, Takumi's bank has been emptied because of buying that Subaru Impreza WRX STI and the parts for it. He's side job as a delivery boy can't do any better for it. Right now, he's broke, and needs money. He thinks that if he joins the race and wins, he'll probably buy better cars and a new apartment.
Takumi then replied to his chatmate. "Well thank you but excuse me can I still join the race?"
3 minutes later the dealer sent another message again "yeah. In a Chinese restaurant pass the street. You need a $250K entrance fee if you want to join, I'll send you the location."
Its final. Takumi wants to join the race. He will just take the entrance fee from the local bank. The Subaru will be his best bet for now. It's the only car he has.
3 Hours Later
Takumi drove his civilian car, the AE86 I mentioned earlier, to a bank in the slums of San Francisco. He took the insurance from the totaled supra and loaned the other half. He then drove the address the dealer gave him and got inside the Chinese restaurant he's been speaking about. There are people without the uniforms that are worn by the employees. "Maybe other racers" he said to himself. He then got inside the backdoor where everyone is getting in and out. There is a fine woman in formal suit and another familiar guy in front of the dumbwaiter. The woman then placed a briefcase in it. And it had gone up. Moments later, it came down and now has a tablet in it. The lady took it and handed it over to her companion. They spoke again but Takumi is just waiting for his turn to join in then the two left and he placed the cash in the dumbwaiter
