Chapter 1: The Dream

Nessie's POV

Out of the corner of my eye I saw a man staring at me as I walked to the food court. I was proud of my self because my aunts trusted me enough to leave their side for a few minutes to buy food. They wouldn't come with me because they hated the smell of food. I didn't like it either actually. I much preferred blood. However ice cream was a completely different story. So they gave me money so I could go buy ice cream while they kept shopping.

I went to stand in line at Baskin Robins. "Excuse me little girl are you by yourself?" the nice cashier lady asked me when I got to the front of the line. She looked worried. To everyone else I looked like I was only five years old. In reality I was only nine months old. I couldn't tell anybody that though.

"It's okay little girl. You can tell me. Where is your mother and father,"

At home. My momma and daddy were at home. I was here with my aunts because they insisted I needed new clothes. Momma didn't want to come because she hated shopping. I was about to tell her that when someone said. "Oh that's my daughter," I looked up thinking that my daddy was really here. Only I saw that strange man who had been following me earlier. Why was he lying?

"She ran away from me earlier when I told her she couldn't have ice cream. Glad to see the little rascal is safe and sound," he said. The cashier looked happy. "Come on kid. Let's go," he said as he grabbed my hand and led me out of there.

"Who are you and why did you say that you were my daddy? You aren't my daddy,"

"No kid but if you come with me I will buy you even better ice cream," he smiled at me. He was a little strange but he seemed really nice.

"Come on kid,"

"My aunts are waiting for me though,"

"It will only be a few minutes. The ice cream place is just across the street,"

I followed him out to his car. He drove away quickly as soon as we were inside. "Where are we going?" I asked when we passed by a few ice cream places.

"Don't worry kid. We are just going to meet up with some friends first,"

We stopped at an alleyway where there was two other men waiting. I suddenly felt really scared. "Get out!" he ordered when he got there. When I didn't listen he grabbed me and pulled me out of the car.

"Wow she's the most beautiful little girl we've ever seen," one of the men said.

"Oh yes. She will definitely fetch a good price for us,"

He stuck a needle in my arm and I got really sleepy. The last thing I saw was two other kids, a boy and a girl, tied and gagged in the back of a trunk.

My eyes flew wide up. My heart was pounding as I took in my surroundings. Everything was blurry but I could see that my two dogs, Trusty and Cooper, were sound asleep beside my bed. I took a few deep breaths to calm my nerves. It was just a nightmare. A nightmare that I had from time to time throughout the years.

I put my glasses on and my blurry vision was immediately corrected. After freshening up in the bathroom I went downstairs to the kitchen to where my sister and parents were waiting. I helped myself to a stack of pancakes, eggs, and sausage. A Saturday tradition for as long as I could remember.

"Did you girls sleep well?" mom asked.

"Yeah like a rock," I lied. Well it wasn't a total lie. I had slept well before the dream began. I knew better then to bring up my nightmare. They always got all weird and angry whenever I mentioned it. Ben and Sophia were the twp best parents that I could have ever asked for though. They adopted my sister Liliana and I when we were five years old. Neither my sister or I really remember our lives prior to being adopted but it didn't bother us.

"So what are you girls planning on doing today?" dad asked.

"Probably shopping," Lily answered.

I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't know yet," all I did know is that it would not involve shopping. I loathed shopping. I was much happier literally anywhere else. "I just know that it will not involve shopping," they laughed. It was a pretty well known fact around here that I hated shopping.

"Okay just don't forget that your mother and I are going to be out late tonight. So you girls are going to be on your own for dinner tonight,"

"Don't worry dad we will manage. We might just have to suffer through eating pizza," I added in fake horror. My parents were doctors at the local hospital. They were a very close knit bunch there. A new doctor was set to start working there on Monday. From what I gathered his name was Dr. Cullen. He and his family moved here yesterday. The hospital had decided to throw him a dinner party to make him feel welcomed into their tight knit group right away.

After we finished breakfast I washed the dishes quickly. I went upstairs to get dressed even though I still had not decided how I was going to spend my Saturday. My dogs were wide awake when I returned to my room.

"Oh screw it. Let's just go for a walk and decide from there," I said to no one in particular. I got dressed, grabbed the leashes, and headed then headed straight for the door.

I shuddered when I remembered the nightmare that I had. After all these years I should have been used to it by now. I'd been having the dream sporadically for as long as I could remember. Now here I was, at 17 years old, still afraid of the same dream I'd been having since I was five.

Despite the dream I was happy. I have had a great life with my adoptive family. We had made so many happy memories over the years. My mom loved scrapbooking so she made sure to capture as many special moments as she could. Birthdays, vacations, promtions, holidays. Every Summer our parents would send us to live with our grandparents in Southern California. It was amazing. I loved spending time with my grandparents. My cousins from Chicago also got sent to live with my grandparents during the Summer. So together we would all have a blast every year. My favorite part of those visits was getting to go to Disneyland. I had so many happy memories there. Then for Christmas we would all have one big family reunion up here in Alaska.

Sometimes I wondered how my life would have turned out if my biological parents hadn't decided to get rid of the daughter they had for five years. I didn't remember my biological family but I must have done something, right? Was I that terrible of a child that they decided to simply get rid of me? I guess I will never know.

I was yanked out of my thoughts when Trusty suddenly decided to drag me to the left. I nearly fell over as I attempted to regain control of my dogs. Something had riled them up but I didn't know what it was. This was usually how they acted when we went hunting. Hunting was a favorite pastime of mine. Dad had taught us both how to hunt shortly after we were adopted. It was a bonding exercise for us. My sister hated it. I loved it. My dad taught me how to shoot a gun and even signed me up for hunting lessons. Four years ago my dad thought it was a good idea to get hunting dogs to help us. So that's how we ended up with Trusty and Copper. Two purebred bloodhouds descended from a long line of accomplished hunting dogs.

When we were hunting they were perfectly behaved pets. Usually. "Stop!" I shouted but they didn't listen. "Argh!" I screamed as I tripped and slammed into something, or rather someone. "I'm so sorry I-"

My voice died when I saw the guy facing me. The first thing I noticed about him was that he was not wearing a shirt. The second thing I noticed was that he had muscles everywhere and a six pack. The third thing I noticed was that his skin was burning hot to the touch.

I didn't speak. I just watched as his eyes travelled the length of my body. A confused expression on his face. The confusion was quickly replaced by shock. Shock and happiness that I did not understand.

"Renesmee, Nessie, is that really you?" his body was shaking with emtion. I could see tears in his eyes.

I was confused as hell. "Sorry do I know you?" I was sure I I didn't. I would've remembered seeing this nearly seven foot tall God before.

"You don't remember me?" he asked, the look on his face indiscernible.

"No. Should I?"

"Sorry," he said. "I thought you were someone I used to know,"

How many Renesmees were there in the world?

"So who are you? You must be new here because I have never seen you before,"

"I'm Jacob and yes I did just move here. I'm with the Cullen family,"

"Oh,"

"Nessie I'm sorry but I have to go. Can I have your number though? I'm very interested in getting to know you,"

"Oh," I blushed. "Sure. Why do you need to leave though? We could just talk now,"

"No. Something just...happened. Something that they need to know about right now. Something that they, not even Alice, will see coming,"

I had no idea what he was talking about. I gave him my number and watched him sprint away. That was weird.
