Behold, a Last of Us and Walking Dead Game crossover. I've had a few people ask me to write one actually.
I'm super excited to be working on this fic with two of my close friends on this site. G0nna6of4rk1d and Ben10Herotime. Check on their fics, they're great writers.
They actually wrote most of the first few chapters, I just tweaked things here and there and posted the fic. It somewhat takes place after If Only They Knew, (In the Last of Us world), a lot of stuff from that story has happened in Clementine's past.
Anyway, enjoy and let me know what you guys think!
Warning: Mentions of sexual abuse of a child. Graphic language. Violence.
It had all happened so fast. One minute they were having a great time together, then the next minute she had said something to piss her off. She recalled the hurt expression on her friend's face before she had walked off.
Ellie sighed. She didn't mean to make her friend upset. Everything was just so confusing right now. She needed to find her. They needed to talk.
As she called Riley's name, she heard crying within one of the mall stores. It sounded like a baby...
"D-Don't cry, AJ. Just-just calm down, okay?" A little girl's voice was heard, but the baby's cries continued on.
Ellie furrowed her brows as the childlike voice reached her ears. She cautiously started walking towards the direction of the baby's cries. She had thought that she and Riley were the only two in the mall. And she definitely did not expect a baby to be in the mall at all. Not to mention, the place was completely off limits, she and Riley weren't even supposed to be here.
As she followed the cries that echoed through the air, she was surprised to find that it was coming from inside a baby store. When she walked in, she saw a little girl, changing a baby boy into a pair of baby clothes.
"Come on, AJ, please be quiet...we don't wanna draw any clickers, runners, or-or bad people..." The girl said.
"Hey, there," Ellie spoke once she found her voice.
The little girl flinched, whipping around to face her. "D-Don't hurt us. Please!"
"It's okay… I'm not gonna hurt you," Ellie said as she raised her hands in a nonthreatening manner. "Are you… two the only ones here?"
"I... I... Yes... It's just us now..." The child said. "Are... Are you alone too?"
"Um...no. My friend's here… We sorta got into a fight and I'm looking for her. You wouldn't have happened to see her, did you?" Ellie asked.
The girl shook her head, "No...I didn't. I'm sorry," She apologized as if she did something wrong.
"I'll just have to keep looking for her." Ellie sighed. "You look pretty young to be by yourself with a baby. What are you, nine or ten?"
"I'm Eleven," The little girl said, "And I think AJ's a month old,"
"Oh...well...what's your name?" Ellie asked.
"Clementine..." The little girl introduced herself.
"I'm Ellie... How about you and AJ come with me... You shouldn't be all alone." Ellie said.
"H-How do I know I can trust you?" Clementine stammered. "Wh-What if you do something naughty to me?"
"Naughty?" Ellie was surprised to hear the girl say that, but she shook it off. There was no way she was leaving two little kids all alone. Anything could happen to them. "I promise you, I won't hurt you. I just want to help you. Please… You and AJ shouldn't be all alone."
"I...I don't know...are you sure?" Clementine asked, "I mean...who would want me? I'm...I'm naughty..."
There was that word again. The way the child said it almost made Ellie want to cringe. "Why would you think you're naughty? Where did you even learn that word?" Ellie asked.
"From...from my master..." Clementine said.
"Who's...your master?" Ellie asked.
Clementine didn't say. She just hung her head.
"Look... let's just go find my friend... It's not safe here alone." Ellie said.
"…Okay..." Clementine said, finally giving in. "Come on, goofball." She picked up the baby and put him behind her in the baby carrier.
AJ just cooed a bit as they started looking for Riley.
Ellie looked to the younger girl, curious on why the child was alone in the first place, especially with a baby as young as AJ. "Umm… Is AJ your brother or…?"
"Uh-uh." Was the child's short and vague response.
"Oh… Uh, where are your parents? Are they around? Did you get separated or something?" Ellie asked. "Should we be looking for them?"
"No… It's only AJ and I…Nobody else." Clementine replied. "I take care of AJ."
"By yourself?" Ellie asked.
Clementine nodded in response.
Damn… Ellie was so young to be raising a baby… "So... how long have you been on your own?" Ellie asked.
"I... Since right after AJ was born... I was with my master before that." Clementine said.
Ellie was still taken aback by the child mentioning a "master". "Where...were you with your master?" Ellie asked.
"At a hardware store at first...but then it was overrun with runners and clickers, so master took me with him...he took AJ's mommy too with us, Rebecca." Clementine said. She frowned, "She...she didn't make it."
"I'm sorry to hear that..." Ellie sighed.
"Me too... I wish she was here... but now it's just me, AJ, and Promise..." Clementine said.
"You're not gonna be alone anymore. I'm not gonna leave you." Ellie reassured the young child.
"You will...in the future...my old group didn't even want me. They just argued a lot..." Clementine said, "When you see how naughty I am, you won't want me either..."
"I don't think you're naughty. Your group was probably a bunch of assholes." Ellie said.
Clementine just frowned, "Can I... never-mind..."
"What?" Ellie asked.
"Nothing. You'll think I'm a baby..." Clementine said.
"I won't think you're a baby. I promise." Ellie said. "Can you what?"
"...suck my thumb," Clementine said. She was nervous on how the older girl would react to her question.
"Uh, sure... If that makes you feel better." Ellie shrugged.
"Thank you..." Clementine said. She stuck her thumb in her mouth.
"You don't have to thank me." Ellie sighed. "Come on, just stay close to me."
Clementine nodded as the two continued walking; AJ seemed to be asleep by now. They soon came to a door which Ellie opened. There stood Riley.
"You ever seen anything like this?" Riley asked in such a nonchalant way, like nothing had happened between them.
Ellie shook her head and huffed, "Are we just done talking?"
"I don't know, are we?" Riley asked, turning around, though she was surprised to see Clementine and AJ, "Who are the kids?"
Clementine quickly hid behind Ellie.
"I... found them. They're all alone." Ellie said.
"All alone? By themselves?" Riley asked, "That's impossible...no way they survived this long,"
"They were... She said the baby is about a month old and they've been alone since he was born..." Ellie said. "This is Clementine, and the baby is AJ."
"Oh...well...hey there. I'm Riley," Riley greeted awkwardly.
Clementine gave a shy wave.
"Look, Riley, I don't understand why you got so pissed at me. I should be pissed off at you." Ellie said.
"For what? Asking you what you think?" Riley inquired.
"When have you ever cared about what I think? We were good! We were better than good, then you told me to fuck off, and then you just went up and vanished!" Ellie snapped.
Clementine covered her ears as she frowned. She never liked hearing people fighting or angry.
"This whole day..." Ellie shook her head and sighed. "You feel guilty? You want an out? I'm giving it to you."
"I'm supposed to be holed up on the other side of town. I get caught as a Firefly, I'm dead. Guilt didn't make me cross a city full of soldiers, Ellie. And yeah, I did some shit that I don't know how to take back but... I'm trying..." Riley said.
Ellie frowned, not sure how to respond.
"Speaking of..." Riley threw her backpack on the ground, revealing two water guns, "Those water guns you've been dreaming of...I nearly got shot for these...surprise."
Ellie was surprised by that. "I... I would love to kick your ass in a water gun fight, but... now's not a great time..."
"Lemme guess, because of the kids?" Riley sighed.
"You...you can play with Riley...don't let me be a burden to you...I'll just go in the corner and take care of AJ. You can play water gun fight," Clementine said.
"Clementine, making sure you and AJ are okay is more important than a water gun fight." Ellie said.
"But you're supposed to have fun...if you hadn't found me, you'd be playing the water gun game with your friend. It's okay. Go ahead..." Clementine said, "AJ, Promise, and I can go in the corner."
"The kids will be fine. It'll only be a quick match," Riley said. "And... wait- who's Promise?"
"My best-friend..." Clementine said, "He plays lots of games with me."
"Where is he? Why don't you play with him while we have a water gun fight?" Riley said.
"He's here." Clementine motioned to a teddy bear which Ellie just now noticed she was carrying. "And okay...We'll play sex together."
The two teens were taken aback by what the girl said. "What...what did you say?" Ellie asked.
"Promise and I will play sex together. The sex game. It's where men put their cock inside a uh...a cunt or bum, until they cum inside. I can get a cum too by rubbing myself!" Clementine said, "Can I show you?"
Both teens were shocked and exchanged looks of worry. No child Clementine's age should be talking like this.
"Who-Who taught you that?" Ellie asked.
"Master did," Clementine said.
"What's your...master's name?" Riley asked.
"...C-Carver," Clementine answered.
"Carver? Wait, William Carver? Riley asked, her eyes widened in surprise.
"You know my master?" Clementine asked, looking surprised. "He fucked me a lot. Everyday..."
"Holy shit...why would he...that's fucking sick!" Ellie shook her head. She turned to Riley, "You know this guy, Riley?"
"I heard lots of rumors about him," Riley said, "About him being really dangerous, smart, and bat-shit crazy. There's been talk about him traveling with two kids and..." she trailed off, her eyes widened, "Holy shit...you guys are them,"
Clementine hung her head, "I guess some people know that I'm his whore..."
"You're not a whore, kid..." Riley said. "That sick asshole shouldn't have been touching you... Do you know where he is?"
"L-Looking for me... I know he is..." Clementine trembled. "Him, and Troy, and my old group..."
"They...they all hurt you?" Ellie asked.
"In some ways. Carver fucked me everyday...Troy-Troy fucked me in my bum...my-my old group didn't do anything about it...they just yelled and argued...like how Bonnie didn't do anything about it," Clementine furrowed her brows as an angry look appeared on her face, "I-I hate her! I hate Bonnie! She-she kept taking me to him! Even after I told her what he was doing, she-she didn't help me! She kept thinking I was a liar!"
"Oh my gosh... I'm so sorry, Clementine..." Ellie said.
"Carver made me fuck my friend... to punish us, because everyone wanted to escape... Then... Then... the hardware store got overrun and he took me and AJ's mom... AJ's mom was sick from... from childbirth..." Clementine said. "She's gone now..."
The two girls frowned.
"It sounds like you haven't had it easy out there..." Riley said, "You or AJ,"
"Geez, I heard rumors about the world being fucked up, but not this fucked up..." Ellie said, "How did you get past the firefly soldiers outside?"
"I snuck in. I was as quiet as I could," Clementine said, "I needed to get new clothes for AJ. The clothes master got for him were torn and not in good condition."
"Did that sicko tell you to call him master?" Riley asked.
Clementine nodded. "He-he did...if I didn't, I would be on the punishment table...and he...would pull my pants down and spank me..."
"He's horrible... I can't believe he did that to you..." Ellie said, feeling sick to her stomach.
"Anyway...go ahead and play your water fight game. I can go in the corner and play with Promise. AJ is asleep," Clementine said.
"Actually... Ellie probably has to get home soon anyway... I'll walk you guys home." Riley said.
"I... don't have a home. I have to stay here." Clementine said.
"Well, we can't just leave you here," Ellie said.
"You think Marlene would let them stay with you? You know how she is," Riley said.
"Well-" Before either of them could say another word, groaning was heard, and Runners came.
"Shit!" Riley pulled out her gun and fired at them.
AJ started crying from the sound of the gunshots. Clementine did her best to shush the infant.
"We need to barricade the door!" Riley said.
They immediately did that. Ellie grabbed Clementine's hand and they started running.
They soon came to a garage door which they quickly opened up.
"Clem, find something to prop it up with while we hold it!" Ellie said as they held the door, so the child could crawl underneath.
Clementine was hesitant but crawled under with AJ still on her back and found a cart to hold it while the girls got through.
"Come on, this way!" Riley called.
They continued running and tried to get away, but it felt like the infected were getting closer to them. Clementine and Riley climbed as she did her best to shush AJ's cries. Though when Ellie did, she fell, and a runner got on her. Riley shot at them to keep them off her. Clementine and Riley helped Ellie up, but Riley was tackled by a runner.
Ellie quickly rushed to her aid, stabbing the runner numerous times until it fell.
"Wow..." Riley said. "Alright, come on! Up the stairs! That's our way out!"
"I... I don't feel good..." Clementine whimpered.
Ellie quickly took the child's hand. "You'll be fine, just keep running."
"Alright! Come on!" Riley called, "Up the stairs! The scaffolding, that's our way out!"
They ran up the stairs. Clementine was struggling not to fall behind.
"El-Ellie...my stomach hurts..." Clementine winced. She tried to keep up with them, wanting to get away from the infected.
"Clementine, come on! We don't have time for this!" Riley called to the small girl.
"We're almost out, just keep running, Clementine." Ellie kept a grip on her hand.
Clementine fought back her own tears and the pain, but it hurt too much. Infected were in their way but they managed to cut through as they made their way into a room.
"There's our opening! Come on!" Riley called. "Get to the window! We're almost out!"
Clementine whimpered from the pain she was feeling as she clutched Ellie's hand. "I... I can't!"
"Clem, listen to me, we're gonna be okay... Come on!" Ellie said, practically dragging the child. "You have to keep going for AJ, okay?"
Clementine nodded. Once they got up, Riley climbed.
"Okay, go on, Clem," Ellie let the girl go first as Clementine climbed up. Riley helped her up.
Ellie started to climb, but the stand fell and so did Ellie, and before she knew it, a runner tackled her and bit her.
"Ellie!" Clementine gasped.
"Fuck! Stay here!" Riley quickly rushed down to help Ellie.
Riley fired at the runners that attacked Ellie. Riley helped Ellie up, only to be attacked and tackled by a runner herself. Ellie ran up and stabbed the runner, slitting its throat.
"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh..." Clementine got down and went to their aid, "Are-are you okay?!"
"I... I think so..." Ellie breathed out. "I think we're clear..."
"E-Ellie..." Riley spoke with hesitation. "Your arm..."
Ellie looked at her arm and her heart dropped. She dropped her knife. "No...no, no, no, no, no, no!" She gasped, rubbing it off as if it was just blood, but it wasn't. It was a bite.
"No... you're-you're bit? But-but you can't be bit!" Clementine said.
Riley frowned before raising her own hand to reveal that she also had a bite.
"N-No... Why-Why is this happening?" Clementine whimpered.
Ellie shook her head, feeling angry. This couldn't be happening. She picked up a nearby bat and started smashing glasses. "Dammit! Fuck! Fuck!"
Clementine watched with a frown, doing her best to fight back tears. She felt that somehow this was all her fault.
After a while Ellie huffed and took a seat.
"There's more stuff over there that you can break..." Riley muttered.
Ellie frowned, on the verge of tears. "What are we gonna do?"
"The way I see it, we've got two options. Option one: We can take the easy way out...it's quick and painless..." Riley said.
"N-No!" Clementine gasped. "Please d-don't…"
Riley looked to the little girl and slowly placed the gun down, "Yeah… I'm not a fan of option one either. Option two: we fight,"
"…Fight for what? We're gonna turn into one of those things!" Ellie said.
"There are a million ways we should've died before today. And a million ways we can die before tomorrow. But we fight...for every second we get to spend with each other. Whether it's two minutes or two days... We don't give that up. I don't wanna give that up." Riley said. "My vote… let's just wait it out. We can be all poetic and just lose our minds together..."
"Y-You promised you wouldn't leave me, Ellie..." Clementine said, sounding sad and worried.
"I... I know, kiddo. I know I did... Just..." Ellie paused, "Sometimes… people can't keep their promises…"
"N-Nobody ever keeps their promises… Everyone always breaks them…" Clementine sniffled. "P-Please don't be like everyone else… Please don't leave me… You promised… Y-You can't t-turn…"
Ellie frowned, "I'm sorry, kiddo…" She then looked to Riley. "What's option three...?"
"Sorry. Maybe...maybe before we go...we could take them to Marlene," Riley said, "No way we can just turn and leave them. Should at least try and do something right before we both..." She trailed off.
Clementine whimpered, feeling a wave of emotions, and her stomach wasn't making it any better. It wasn't long before the girl suddenly threw up.
"Sh-Shit... Are you okay?" Ellie asked.
Clementine just continued whimpering.
"Are you sick? I don't think people usually just throw up like that." Riley said.
Clementine couldn't bring herself to answer. She just whimpered even more.
Ellie sighed, she couldn't blame the girl for feeling sick after what they had just been through, seeing them both get bit. "Okay... You're gonna be okay. We're gonna take you to someone we know. She'll... look after you and AJ...Or find someone else to..." Ellie said as she stood. "Do you wanna hold my hand again?"
Clementine nodded and took her hand.
Ellie sighed again as she held the child's small hand in her own. She knew that they just met, but she really wanted to take care of this girl and protect her at all costs. She was angry with herself. Angry at this world. Why did she have to get bit? Her and Riley?
"Come on... Let's get outta here." Riley spoke.
They nodded and walked out.
When they did, they were found by firefly soldiers and taken to Marlene. She was not happy by what she was told.
"Where do I even begin?" Marlene grumbled, "You two snuck outside after curfew, went somewhere that was completely off limits, you ended up getting bit, and you bring back more survivors- a child and a baby at that?" She inquired, "This is unacceptable." She shook her head. "I have the mind to shoot the both of you,"
Clementine whimpered, "N-no! Don't kill them, please!"
"What's the point? The infection's gonna do it anyway..." Riley bitterly spoke.
Marlene glared at her. "You two don't know anything about these little kids. Do you know who they're with, or where they even came from?"
"They...they were with a group at first, until...this asshole named Carver took them away," Ellie said.
"Carver? As in... William Carver?" Marlene seemed surprised.
"My master. He likes to fuck me every night...I'm his toy," Clementine said, "We-we were trying to get away from him..."
"What the fuck?" Marlene said. "He... He was raping you?"
"H-He fucked me a lot..." Clementine frowned. "I didn't want him to..."
Marlene shook her head in disgust, "Something told me that I should have shot him when I had the chance..." She grumbled.
"You knew him?" Ellie asked.
"Back in the day, I did. I met him once. We had a simple deal...he needed fences and woodwork in order to make some hardware store out of a community," Marlene said, "In exchange, he gives us some weapons and supplies. Something told me that he didn't look right. I was worried he'd be a threat… and judging from what some people say and from what I hear about him raping a little girl, I should have trusted my instinct."
"I wish you did too...then he wouldn't have fucked me so many times..." Clementine said, "I tried to shoot him once, but the gun didn't have any bullets, and I was punished for trying to kill him...I deserved it though. I should have checked to see if the gun had any bullets..."
"You didn't deserve it, Clem… He had no right to hurt you…" Ellie said.
"He hurt me because I was naughty… That means I deserved it." Clementine said.
Ellie did cringe this time. The way the little girl said the word naughty made her feel sick. Especially knowing that she had learned the word from that man.
Marlene sighed, feeling guilty. She couldn't help but pity the young girl. "Alright, I'm gonna let you and the baby stay with me, until I find someone else to look after you..."
"I... I can look after myself..." Clementine said. "And... And Ellie said she would look after me too..."
"Ellie is bit! She can't look after you!" Marlene said.
"I-I don't care! Ellie's the first one who found me and promised me she'd look after me!" Clementine said, "M-Maybe we can cut it off or-or maybe she'll pull through! Maybe the infection won't kill her!"
Ellie's eyes widened at the thought of cutting her arm off. Before she could speak, Riley did.
"Don't be stupid! We all know what's gonna happen..." Riley said. "Just stop talking about it..."
"You may wanna give up, but I don't wanna! I-I think...I have a feeling she'll pull through. I don't know why. You may call me a liar or don't believe me, but I think she will..." Clementine said.
"Clem... We… We both know what happens when someone gets bit." Ellie said. "It happens to everyone…"
Clementine looked to the older girl and shook her head. "N-Not you… You promised not to leave me… You- You said you would look after me…"
"…I know I promised I wouldn't leave you... but I don't know if I can keep that promise... I'm sorry..." Ellie said.
"No...I don't believe it. We don't even know what's gonna happen," Clementine shook her head.
Marlene looked at the girl. She reminded her of an old friend...in fact...she looked quite familiar too. "Girls, go out. I need a moment with her," Marlene said.
Clementine's eyes widened at that. Several thoughts ran through her head, as fear filled her body. She didn't want them to leave, why did this woman want to be alone with her? "No...I want Ellie to stay with me. I don't trust you..." Clementine said.
"It'll only be a few minutes," Marlene said.
"The last time I was in an office with another person, I ended up getting fucked," Clementine said.
"I'm not going to do anything to you." Marlene said. "Ellie, tell her it's okay..."
"Clem... You'll be fine. Marlene's looked after me, she won't hurt you." Ellie said.
"No-no, no, no! I..I don't feel comfortable...I feel more comfortable if you're with me..." Clementine said, "I-I just...lots of people say that they won't hurt me, and-and in the end they do. It's not just men, but women too..."
"Did... anyone else touch you? Did a woman hurt you?" Ellie asked.
"A... a woman did...at-at Howe's," Clementine replied, "She-she promised too that she would look after me, and then...and then she put her tongue down there and toys..."
"Oh my gosh..." Marlene muttered. "Well, I'm not going to do that sick shit to you. I'm not a fucking pedophile. I just want to talk to you..."
Clementine still seemed reluctant.
"Tell you what. I'll wait right outside. I'll be at the front door, waiting for you. You can call me if you need anything," Ellie said, "Okay?"
Clementine frowned but nodded.
With that Ellie and Riley left the room.
"Now that we're alone...I have a couple of questions I'd like to ask," Marlene said, "Usually, I'm not the one to let things pass, but if it gets too personal for you, you don't have to answer."
"O-Okay..." Clementine said, while holding sleeping AJ close. "Wh-What questions?"
"Well...I wanted to ask if you had anyone looking after you while you were being raped. Ellie mentioned that you were in a group," Marlene said.
"M-My group didn't help me... They said they were looking after me, but they didn't! And... And Bonnie kept taking me to him!" Clementine said.
"To Carver?" Marlene asked.
"Ye-yes! I hate her! She-she kept taking me to him...even after I told her! I even showed her the cuts Carver made on my back, and she still didn't believe me!" Clementine said.
"Fuck..." Marlene shook her head. "What about before that group, who was taking care of you before?"
"My daddy, Lee..." Clementine said. "Daddy found me when I was a baby, with a group of bad people. He saved me and took care of me."
"Hm...and where is your daddy now?" Marlene asked.
"He...a man contacted me through a radio. He said he found my mommy...I-I trusted him, and he took me. Daddy fought to get me back, but-but he ended up getting bit...and I had to...I had to sh-shoot him, so he wouldn't t-turn..." Clementine whimpered.
"So... you don't know where your mommy is..." Marlene asked.
Clementine shook her head. "I never met my mommy..."
"Well... I believe I have... I think I know who your mommy is." Marlene said.
"You-you do?" Clementine asked.
Marlene nodded and opened up her drawer. She took out a picture and handed it to Clementine, "This is a photo of her. Considering what you told me, being with a group of bad people, your attitude, your similarities, having the name, Clementine...I believe that you are her daughter, and I knew her a long time ago," She said.
"T-That's my mommy?" Clementine's eyes widened. "Wh-What happened to her?"
"I can't answer that... You were kidnapped as an infant and Diana went searching for you. I have no clue if she's dead or alive..." Marlene said. "It's been years since I've last seen her… I told her not to go, but she was stubborn…"
Clementine frowned, "But-but she might be alive! I have to go back out there! I-I have to find my mommy, so she can know that I'm alive!"
"You can't. She hasn't found you yet... so there's a huge chance she won't." Marlene said.
Clementine shook her head, "You don't know that! She could be still alive!"
"You can't leave. If you do, you have a death wish." Marlene said.
"Everywhere is a death wish. I've survived on my own before," Clementine said, "I can handle myself,"
"And what if you get surrounded by infected?" Marlene asked.
"I-I can handle walkers! I know how." Clementine replied.
"Walkers?" Marlene rose a brow.
"Those thingies out there. That's what my first group called them." Clementine said.
"Regardless of whether you believe you can handle yourself or not, I'm gonna keep an eye on you from now on. That's what Diana would've wanted me to do. Which means you're not going anywhere. Maybe you survived but do you really want to take the baby out there? You two are safer here." Marlene said.
Clementine frowned, "I don't want to take AJ out there, but I can keep him safe… I need to find my mommy. She-"
"I said no. Now that you're here, you go by my rules. You're not going out there." Marlene said sternly. "You're safer here."
Clementine looked away from the woman. It just wasn't fair. "I'm done talking and answering questions...can I go now?"
"You're excused." Marlene said.
Clementine felt herself about to cry as she stormed out of the office with AJ in her arms.
"Clem, are you okay?" Ellie asked.
Clementine sniffled and shook her head.
"How about we go to my room..." Ellie suggested. It had been a long day.
"Okay..." Clementine said.
The girls headed to Ellie's room.
Once they got to the room, AJ awoke. Clementine decided to change him.
"So... what did Marlene talk to you about?" Riley asked, curiously.
"She said...she said she knew my mommy," Clementine said.
"Wh-What?" Riley asked. "She knew your mom?"
Clementine nodded, "She-she went looking for me when I was kidnapped and never came back...I wanna go out and find her, but...but Marlene won't let me!"
"I'm sorry, Clem..." Ellie said.
"Maybe it's for the best... If you go out there with AJ, both of you are gonna end up dead." Riley said.
"You don't know that...I survived on my own before while taking care of AJ," Clementine said, "If my mommy is out there, looking for me, she needs to know that I'm okay and alive."
"And what if another bad group finds you? You're a little kid. You can't defend yourself." Riley said.
"I'll figure it out. I'll take a gun and knife with me, and-and I'll hide too," Clementine said.
"Stop being so stubborn kid. Marlene doesn't want you to go, so don't... She doesn't like when people break her rules." Riley said. "And you could barely keep up with us against the runners."
"About that... are you feeling better, Clem? I know a lot was going on, but you threw up so suddenly..." Ellie said.
"I...I'm fine now. I've been...throwing up a lot. I think I might be sick; I-I don't know...it kinda started when I ate an apple. I can't eat them anymore," Clementine shook her head, "Because if I do, I'll throw up."
"You're sick? We should let Marlene know." Ellie said.
"I... I don't want to talk to her right now..." Clementine said. "I just wanna sleep."
"You sure you wanna sleep here with us?" Riley scoffed, "Aren't you worried we'll eat you?"
"Riley," Ellie scowled, "Sure, Clem...you can sleep."
"What about AJ, where can he lay?" Clementine asked.
"He can lay with you," Ellie said, "You can take the bed."
"But where will you and Riley sleep?" Clementine asked.
"I'm not going to sleep..." Riley muttered as she stormed out.
"Was it...was it something I did?" Clementine asked.
"She's just sad right now, Clem. Try to get some rest." Ellie said.
"O-okay..." Clementine said as she laid with AJ.
Ellie went over to help tuck her in, but the child flinched.
"I... I'm fine..." Clementine said.
"Okay, kid..." Ellie sighed. The poor girl was really traumatized.
Clementine closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. But she could hear Riley come back in and talk with Ellie.
After some time, Clementine heard groaning. She slowly opened her eyes to see a figure standing over her. Her eyes widened, and before she could react, it grabbed her and tried to bite her and AJ as she screamed in horror.
