Chapter One: A Second Chance
Age 756, The 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, Conclusion.
Thinking Piccolo Jr. defeated, Goku lets his guard down while the announcer begins the countdown. As the counter approaches 10, signifying a defeat, Piccolo Jr. suddenly springs up and catches Goku by surprise with a beam from his mouth, blasting a hole through Goku's shoulder.
Thus weakened, Piccolo Jr. is able to systematically cripple Goku, costing him the use of all of his limbs, including his right arm, the one that the original Piccolo made the critical mistake of leaving Goku. To finish him off, Piccolo Jr. leaps in the air and fires a powerful ki attack at him, leaving no trace of Goku.
Piccolo Jr., though heavily battered by the battle, turns to Goku's terrified friends, gloating. However, surprising to all, his victory was short-lived thanks to the apparent mastery of flight and evaded Junior's attack . Goku then smashed his inert body into Piccolo Jr., knocking him out of the ring and causing him to lose the tournament and Goku would be declared the winner.
With Junior having been beaten, Yajirobe approaches Goku, handing the wounded fighter a senzu bean, bringing Goku to perfect condition nearly-immediately. Cheerfully celebrating his victory, Goku notices Kami over at Piccolo Jr, preparing himself to finish off his other half.
Goku puts himself in between Kami and Piccolo quickly, stating that without Piccolo alive, Kami would die and the Dragon Balls would be lost. Although Kami at first believes that Piccolo Jr.'s existence is his fault, Master Roshi points out that without the Dragon Balls and Kami, Goku would've never had his adventures which led to the now achieved peace from beating Piccolo.
Logic which Kami found acceptable.
Four years passed and peace prospered around the Earth, one day on a stroll with his three year old son, and his Wife Chi-chi, Goku smiles to himself, enjoying what life has become.
"See? Isn't this great Goku!" Chichi said. "No fighting! Just serene and peaceful strolls through the forest."
Goku nodded. "Yeah, I suppose so." He smiled in response. "It is nice to do something other than fighting once in a while."
Of course, anyone could enjoy something so peaceful after so many years of adventuring and martial arts. But for Goku the peace only excited him more to fight and train, because all that time not training gave him time to reflect on how he could improve, but also simply enjoy the little things in life.
It wasn't always about fighting, sure it was Goku's passion, his hobby, but he loved many other things, fishing, hunting, even hanging with his friends. Still, nothing beat the thrill, the adrenaline he felt when fighting, that feeling when he was pushed to his limits, the feeling that motivated him to train.
The only difference now, there was something else, something else that wanted him to train harder, not because of his enjoyment of fighting or getting stronger, but because of what he was doing right, because of the family he made. To protect these little moments, to protect his family, his friends, to never let anything like what happened after the 22nd World Tournament happen again.
Having to watch his best friend die was dark, and enraging, painful. The thought of that happening to someone like his Son, Gohan, or his Wife Chi-chi, it hurt, as much as it would just as any of his other friends or masters.
That's when Goku decided that even though Chi-chi believed they'd be living in peace for the rest of their lives, Goku couldn't bear the thought of having to lose someone dear to him again. So secretly, after some searching, he found Tienshinhan…
"I admit, I was kinda shocked when I heard you stopped training because of Chichi…" Tien said. "But I'm a bit shocked that you'd be daring enough to sneak out like that to come and train with me."
"Yeah well...I probably won't be able to hide it from her, but I need to get stronger Tien." Goku replied. His face looked strangely serious, not completely out of character for Goku, but a moment like this, it was a bit. "Knowing you, I wouldn't have to explain it."
Tien nodded. "Of course. Not just because as Martial Artists it is our job to find new heights, but to protect those in need as well." Tien smiled. He placed a hand on Goku's shoulder. "I'd be glad to help you. You're not the only one wanting to get stronger."
A smile formed itself on Goku's face. "Thanks Tien!" He said cheerfully. The two took their stances as they prepared to spar, and Goku began to grin excitedly.
Unknowingly to the two, they weren't the only ones becoming stronger, The Demon King's son, Piccolo Junior, sensing their growing powers, decided himself to intensify his training. Later, Chichi had figured out that Goku was training, and she couldn't put a complete stop to it, so she made a compromise.
That the weekends were solely reserved for family time, and that Goku could train so long as his husbandly and fatherly duties were done before he went off to train.
Age 761. By a distant farm in the country, a loud and somewhat screechy noise echoed, alerting a simple and short farmer who had been doing his daily chores. When that farmer looked to the sky, seeing a round ufo coming down, he panicked, hiding behind his large truck.
The ufo crashed into the ground loudly about a mile away, causing a minor but powerful explosion, that the recoil had nearly tipped over the farmer's large truck. Luckily for the farmer, he was able to keep it from knocking itself and him over.
After a short moment, the Farmer peeped his head over his truck, and looked over to the crater. He grabbed his shotgun and decided to investigate. He walked over cautiously to the crater, and looked down.
As he looked down, the color drained from his face seeing a larger man, with a long mane floating out. The farmer fell back in fear as the alien floated above him for a moment.
The farmer winced and then gulped. "W-What t-the! Wh-Who...Who are you!" He stuttered. Shivering as he stood back up and recollecting his shotgun, he took several steps back. "Y-You're on mah property! Y-You need to leave!" He tried to stand firm and stay brave, but the visitor or alien as you might call it, ignored him.
Finally, with a scary but impassive look on his face, the alien looked down, raised an eyebrow. The farmer's shivers intensified upon the look, and out of panic he pressed the trigger on his shotgun, to the farmer's shock, the alien had caught.
The farmer fell back once more, gaping in horror. Quietly, the Alien examined the bullet, then looked back to the farmer.
"Strange...I thought the inhabitants of this planet were all wiped out….or I assumed?" The alien mumbled. He clicked a button on his device, which showed the number five. "A power-level of five? Hmph, Pathetic."
The alien flicked the bullet back and before the farmer could react or even get away as he tried, he was dead, with a hole in his head. The alien shook his head with immeasurable disappointment.
"I can understand not cleaning the planet thoroughly, but come on Kakarot! A pathetic earthling such as this?" The alien growled. He sighed and shook his head to himself. "No matter, it's not a big deal, at least one not to be made. Let's see where Kakarot is…"
Pressing the large white button that was on this strange mechanical device which was on his face once more, he looked around in the distance, floating up as he did. Eventually, it found a higher powerlevel, a power that read "600."
A smirk formed upon the alien. "Aha! This must be him!" He shouted. "And my, my Kakarot! You've grown to be quite the powerful Saiyan! Perhaps we'll have a use for you after all!"
Mount Paozu, Son Residence.
"Gohan!" A voice echoed. Chichi stood on the doorway from outside to her house, wondering where her son was. "Gohan!" Again, no response. Chichi stepped her foot repeatedly, a bit angry, but then her face became more worried.
She sighed deeply and turned to her husband, Goku, who chopped down a massive tree into small logs.
"You sure we don't have enough wood, Goku?" Chichi asked.
"Ah don't worry, Chichi! I was just finishing up! This should hold us over til Spring!" Goku smiled. Goku tilted his head noticing the worry in Chichi's face. "You okay? You look worried."
She sighed again. "It's Gohan, he ran off again! And I don't know where he is!"
"I'm sure he hasn't gone far, Chi. Besides, a kid needs to get out once in a while, he was probably tired of being cooped in the house." Goku replied.
"I know…" Chichi said. "I was just trying to get him ready for tonight."
"Don't worry, I'll go looking for him." Goku smiled. Calling out for his trusty yellow cloud, Nimbus, Chichi felt relief come over her, as always Goku knew how to make people feel safe. Searching for his son across the forest, calling his name out, he heard his son scream for him, in the distance.
Quickly, Goku followed the sound, finding a river which had a floating log that Gohan was barely attached to. Goku's eyes widened as he sprung into action.
"Dadd-ggrqunle dy!" Gohan's scream was muffled from the water from nearly drowning, luckily, he was able to get back up on the log and cough out the water before he drank it. Goku tried to come closer and reach for his son but noticed a large cave, a part of a much larger peak, which Goku went around.
By the time he made it around, he saw the log fall past the waterfall, fearing the worst, but then he heard his son's crying voice from above, which confused him. He looked up, not far, and saw his son hanging from a strong but small branch.
"How did you get..up..here?" Goku said, looking dumbfounded. Gohan, quickly climbing to nimbus and into his father's arm, still somewhat crying, stopped for a second in response to his father's question.
"I...I don't know." Gohan replied.
Goku rubbed his chin. "Hm…" He thought out loud. He couldn't figure it out. Maybe his tail had something to do with it? Goku shook his head, clearly not, it was too far up that even his own instincts couldn't have allowed him to get this high with his tail.
Goku shrugged it off. "Oh well…" Goku said. "Let's get you home, so we can get you cleaned up and eat dinner! How's that sound!"
Gohan's face lit up. "Okay!" He smiled cheerfully.
The two returned to their house which resided on Mount Paozu, getting Gohan in clean clothes, and the two eating dinner before setting off to Kame House, the next morning.
"Are you sure you don't wanna come, Chichi?" Goku asked.
Chichi nodded. "Yes I'm sure Goku. I want to make sure the house is nice and clean before you leave."
"Nice and clean? Chi the house is already clean!" Goku pointed out.
Chichi rolled her eyes and sighed. "Just get goin, Goku." She smiled.
Arriving early in the afternoon, Goku lands firmly on the ground, hopping off Nimbus, with Gohan in his right arm. Goku walks to the door of Kame House, knocking on the door and greetingly loudly.
"Yo!" Goku shouted. Instantly recognizing the voice, those inside the house, Bulma, Krillin, Master Roshi, Turtle, and Oolong come racing to the door with Bulma in front.
"Goku!" Bulma joyfully called. She stepped outside on to the short white porch off to the side, allowing Krillin and the others to come out.
"What's up Goku! Long time no see!" Krillin added.
Goku waved his left hand. "What's up guys!" He smiled.
With Turtle the first to notice, the others looked confused at Goku, there was a child in his arms. Not believing it was his, Bulma was the first to question.
"Who's the kid?" Bulma raised an eyebrow.
Krillin tilted his head. "Yeah, are you babysitting or something?" Krillin asked.
"Him?" Goku replied, looking at his son. He looked back and shook his head. "Nope, he's mine."
All five looked shocked, all falling on their backs, and gasping, except for Turtle who only gasped.
"You can't be serious?!" Krillin said. He looked back at Gohan, who in response, slightly moved himself closer into his father out of shyness. Krillin saw the resemblance, it was actually pretty uncanny. "No kidding, huh?"
"Yup. Pretty Wild huh?" Goku said. "His name is Gohan." Goku placed his son down, looking to him. "Say hi Gohan."
Gohan looked at his father for a split second before turning to the others bowing. "Hello.."
The others of course, quickly responded after a short second of a freeze from the shock, by respectfully bowing in response.
Master Roshi moved closer to Goku. "Gohan huh? You named him after your Grandfather?" He asked. Gohan stood close to his father's leg.
"Ya-huh!" Goku nodded.
Bulma walked over to Gohan, lowering herself to Gohan's level. "How old are you Gohan?" she asked.
Gohan lifted his hand, balled up, and putting one finger at a time out as he counted. "One...two...three..four… I'm four, Miss!" Gohan smiled.
Bulma gave a quick look of surprise from his manners. "Are you gonna be a fighter like your father?"
Gohan shook his head. "No, I want to be a scholar!"
Bulma's eyes went a tad wide. "No fighting?" She said as she stood up to Goku.
"Nope. Chichi doesn't want Gohan fighting since there isn't really any threats anymore, and now that it's all peaceful. I've tried to get her to let me train him, but she has her foot down on it." Goku chuckled, scratching the back of his head.
As Turtle moved closer to Gohan, Gohan became shy, and started to hide behind Goku's leg.
"Gohan. It's okay. He just wants to say hi." Goku said.
Slowly releasing his grip on his father leg, and stop biting his lip, he went to play with Mr. Turtle. Running with Turtle closer to the beach, everyone noticed the tail on Gohan, and panicked.
"G-Goku…" Bulma said. Goku faced Bulma, raising an eyebrow. "Y-You haven't noticed anything...weird at night, have you?"
"Weird? How?" Goku asked.
Krillin stepped in. "Y'know like...changes during a full moon or somethin?"
Goku looked at them with confusion. "No?" He said. Looking up as he thought, he continued. "We go to bed pretty early though, so I wouldn't really know."
The others sighed with relief. "Why?" Goku asked. They tensed again.
"N-Nothing! No reason at all!" Bulma answered. Goku looked at them as if they were crazy or something, thinking that they were acting weird, but luckily for them, Master Roshi changed the subject.
"Hey Goku! You know if Gohan is strong like you?" Master Roshi asked.
Goku shrugged. "I don't know. Chichi won't really let me train him." He answered. He tilted his head in a different direction. "There was this one time though, when we were on a stroll a top a hill, and when his stroller slipped away, rolling down the hill, he got knocked out of it, nearly crashing into an Apple Tree."
"What?!" Bulma gasped. "Is he okay?!"
"Yeah see, that's the weird thing." Goku explained. "When he was knocked out of the stroller, right before he crashed into it, his energy just kinda skyrocketed for like a short second, and if I didn't know any better, I'd say he destroyed part of that tree…"
The four friends of Goku looked stunned. At such a young age, Gohan did that? Or...at least that's what was assumed.
"I dunno though, coulda just been seein things and that hole was already there." Goku said. "Not really too sure what happened that day, but that tree still produces apples to this day, it's a pretty sturdy tree!"
Goku let out a quick but hearty laugh.
"Seems like kind of a waste though." Krillin pointed out, moving the subject along. "I mean if he's your son, he's gotta be pretty good."
"Isn't it? But Chichi won't have it, she gets angry even at the mention of the subject." Goku replied. "She wants him to study all the time."
"So that tomboy of a girl turned out to be an educated-minded mother huh?" Master Roshi asked. Goku nodded in response. Taking another look at Gohan, Roshi noticed the ball on his hat. "Hey, is that the Four Star Ball?"
"Yup! It's a keepsake from my Grandfather!" Goku smiled.
"So whatcha been doing these past five years then Goku?" Krillin asked. "At the very least you should be able to train right?"
Goku scratched the back of his head shrugging. "Not so much. Chichi makes me keep a schedule, she wants to make sure I'm not neglecting my husbandly or fatherly duties, and then when those are complete, I can train." Goku answered.
"The first few years she wouldn't really let me train at all, it was fine though, it was kinda nice." Goku admitted. "But I started sneaking out to train with Tienshinhan before she caught me!" Goku chuckled sheepishly.
"Oh?" Krillin said. He scoffed. "You snuck out to train with Tien, but not your best buddy, me?!"
"Er..Sorry, Krillin, I guess I could've invited you but it slipped my mind." Goku replied, but Krillin turned his head and crossed his arms. "Oh come on Krillin! Don't be that way!"
"Aw, I'm just joking with you Goku." Krillin chuckled. "I could never be mad at you….sorta."
Goku raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean sorta?"
"Nothing, I'm just joking." Krillin said. The group shared a laugh, before continuing to catch up
Off in one of the various wastelands that exist on Earth, The Demon King's Son, Piccolo Junior, floated, meditating, when an incredible power presented itself from afar had shocked him. Turning around, placing his feet on the ground, and looking to the east in surprise, he prepared himself.
"Wha-...What's this incredible power?!" Piccolo thought. "Is it...no, it can't be Goku. It doesn't feel like his power!" Piccolo shook his head, regaining his composure. "No..It's fine, I can handle it. He's no match for me!"
The possessor of such power swiftly made himself known, landing in front of Piccolo who remained alert. It was the visitor from before, he examined Piccolo curiously.
"Strange...You're not Kakarot." He spoke up. Piccolo looked confused, Kakarot? Piccolo wondered who that was. Rescanning Piccolo's power-level with his device, reading eight hundred, the visitor looked impressed, forming a smirk on his face. "I can see why Kakarot had trouble purging this planet now though, you're pretty formidable."
"You got that right, and unless you tell me what your business with this planet is, I'll end you here and now!" Piccolo snarled.
The visitor snickered. "Hah!" He shouted, busting into laughter. "You?" He pointed to Piccolo, then to himself. "Beat me? That's rich! Your power is nothing in comparison to mine! I'll admit, you could give me a bit of trouble, but it's still nothing worth my time."
Piccolo showed his teeth, deepening his growl. "A death wish, is that what you're asking for?" He clenched his fist.
"I doubt you could lay a finger on me with a mere 800 powerlevel." The visitor chuckled maliciously, and his tone became lower. "Please...you're too weak!"
Piccolo growled, then recomposed himself, cracking his neck and knuckles. "That device of yours." Piccolo pointed to it. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's letting you detect powers, yes?"
"You're very observant. Yes it does, one of the most accurate detection devices in the world." The visitor answered.
A grin appeared on Piccolo's face. "Tell me, can it detect suppressed powerlevels?" He took off his turban and cape, which slammed harshly on the ground.
"Suppressed wha-" Before the visitor could finish, Piccolo released his power, causing it to shoot up. The visitor's eyes went wide as his device began to read higher and higher powers. "What the!? This...This isn't possible! An Earthling can't have such a high power level!"
It didn't stop though, for a good long moment, Piccolo had charged his power until he reached maximum, the visitor watched it in shock as it went higher and higher.
"T-Ten Hundred! E-Eleven Hundred! T-Twelve Hundred!" The visitor gaped. "No! That's not possible! I refuse t-to believe it! T-Thirteen Hundred!?"
It stopped there, but only after emanating a powerful presence, close to The visitor's level. The visitor gulped, and took a firm stance.
"Fine, I admit it, I underestimated you, you're a lot more powerful than I expected." The visitor replied. "It seems that if someone as strong as you exists on this planet, that would explain the inability for me to find Kakarot. Certainly, you or someone else on this planet must've killed him if there are beings this strong."
"Listen, I don't know what you're going on about, but if you're looking for someone, then you've stepped in the wrong place." Piccolo explained. "Around here, there is nothing but wildlife and I."
"My brother. He was sent to this planet over 20 years ago, but perhaps you've seen him around here?" The visitor asked, revealing his tail.
Piccolo looked shocked, although he'd never seen it himself, memories from his father that lingered on had shown him the only one on Earth that has a tail is Goku. Piccolo paused for a moment, wondering what this guy wanted and if what he was saying was true, though it had to be true, he has a tail as well.
Then again, what would he know, considering all the crazy things in this world, a tail could be more common than he realizes. He never really paid much attention to things like that, but still, Piccolo was cautious.
"Let's say hypothetically, I knew him, what do you need him for?" Piccolo asked.
"My brother was sent here to purge the planet, wipe it off all inhabitants, so we can sell the Planet." The visitor answered. "I am here to retrieve him and bring him back to us. Not that its any of your concern, but since you are quite formidable, I think you are worthy enough to know. He is a part of the Saiyan Race, or what's left of it anyways."
The visitor looked to the right real quick then back. "In short, like me, he is a Saiyan, there are only a few of us left, and my comrades decided we needed to stick together, even if he, like I, are low class warriors whereas my comrades are elites. My name is Raditz by the way."
Piccolo thought to himself for a second, purging planets? That doesn't sound like Goku at all, perhaps he was wrong and this Kakarot was someone different. Yet to be safe, he had to know.
"Could I get a description of him? Or perhaps a relative that he looked similar to?" Piccolo asked. "I might be able to help…" Wait a second, Piccolo said he would help? Even he thought that was weird to say, he was busy! Then again, whatever he'd have to do to get this stranger off his back.
"He bared an uncanny resemblance to his and my father, minus the scars obviously." The visitor answered. "My father is about 5'9, with black spiky, tree-like hair. The only difference between my father and him was that my brother had a lighter skin complexion in resemblance to our mother."
That had to have been Goku! He was clearly describing Goku! But how is that stranger...who claims to be from another planet, be Goku's brother? Then it made sense to Piccolo, that would actually explain a lot.
"Sounds pretty familiar, I have one more question." Piccolo said. "If he hadn't wiped out this planet, and say, actually defended the inhabitants of this planet, what would you do then?"
"I'd say you're making ridiculous accusations but I'll humor you." The visitor replied. "If Kakarot hadn't done his mission, and done something as disgusting as that, well...I'd have to kill him..actually, I'd try to convince him first, but if he wouldn't join us, I'd kill him."
That was enough information for Piccolo, Goku was HIS to kill! And Piccolo knew Goku enough that he would never join someone who sends babies off to murder an entire species of People. So without warning, he launched a powerful blow into Raditz's gut.
"Sorry…" Piccolo said. "But Kakarot...or Goku as he is called on this planet, is MINE to Kill!"
Immediately, Piccolo spun and kneed into Raditz's kidney, causing Raditz to spin around, before crashing harshly instantly into the ground, several feet below.
Back at the Kame House, the friendly conversation of the group was abrupt by the intense energy being displayed off in the distance. Goku, Krillin, and Master Roshi bared serious looks, and Bulma looked confused.
"What's up guys? Why are you guys looking so serious all of a sudden?" Bulma asked.
"An intense power…" Krillin said, pointing north. He gulped. "A deadly...power, coming from that direction!"
"Intense power?" Bulma jumped from fear. "Y-You don't think it's P-Piccolo out for r-revenge do you!?"
Goku shook his head. "No...Well sorta. There's two powers, one is definitely Piccolo's, and much stronger than before but the other one...it's unrecognizable, and it's stronger than Piccolo's!"
"S-Stronger than Piccolo?! You can't be serious!" Bulma said. "You barely beat Piccolo last time! And you're saying he's stronger now?!"
"Afraid so…" Master Roshi answered.
"I'll go check it out, you guys, stay here, alright?" Goku said, looking in the corner of his eye.
"What? Goku, are you nuts?!" Krillin shouted. "That kind of power could eat you alive!"
Goku turned to face Krillin. "It's fine Krillin, trust me. I got this." Goku smiled. He walked over to Gohan, getting down to his son's level. "Hey Gohan, Daddy has to run a quick errand, I'll be right back okay?"
"Where are you going? Can't I come with you?" Gohan frowned.
"I'm just going to check something out real quick. I promise I'll be back, you can hang out here with Master Roshi and Krillin, alright?" Goku said.
Gohan sighed. "Okay."
With that, Goku took off, but without nimbus to the others' shock.
"G-G-Goku can fly?!" Bulma gasped.
"Since when could he fly?!" Krillin added.
"I guess he managed to master that flying technique of Tien's…" Master Roshi looked impressed.
Charging forward at Raditz, Piccolo hurled his fist, but Raditz whacked his wrist against Piccolo's right arm, pushing it out of the way, then slammed his fist against Piccolo's chin. Piccolo was knocked back but he regained his balance, somersaulting back once then planting his feet firmly on the ground.
As Piccolo regained his balance, he saw Raditz right above him, hurling another fist. Piccolo blocked the fist with his left arm then launched his foot at Raditz's stomach. Raditz vanished, reappearing behind Piccolo and doing a spinning back kick aimed at Piccolo, however, Piccolo had vanished as well, leaving a quick after-image behind.
Raditz looked to his sides, wondering where Piccolo went, and by the time his device had picked up the exact location, Raditz was too late, and had been kicked right below his ribcage. Thanks to his armor he wore, no fatal or severe damage was dealt, but it still hurt, especially the landing on ground.
"You rely on that device of yours." Piccolo said, walking up to Raditz. "If you relied more on yourself, you'd actually be giving me a harder time than this."
Raditz gritted his teeth and growled. "Oh yeah?!" He seethed. "Then let's see how you like this!" Raditz fired a purple energy blast at Piccolo, which Piccolo ducked towards the side, evading the attack. Raditz quickly launched his knee into Piccolo's gut, then hurled his fist against Piccolo's chin, sending Piccolo high into the sky.
Raditz chased Piccolo up into the sky, and when Piccolo stopped himself, he hurled a fist at Raditz, which Raditz dodged. Raditz countered with a double axe handle, cupping his fists together and slamming it against the side of Piccolo's head.
Piccolo was sent back, plummeting to the ground, but as he approached the ground, Piccolo pushed his hands off the ground and flipped before retaking his stance. Seeing Raditz come close, Piccolo charged back, exchanging blows with Raditz.
For a moment, the two seem nearly equal, in an attempt to stop the continuous back and forth, blocking, Piccolo tried to fire a close-up energy blast at Raditz's face, and at the same time Raditz tried to do a close range back kick harshly into Piccolo's side.
Both attacks sent both fighters back to the ground, before they once again rebalanced then darted to each other, clashing their arms against each other, causing a mini shockwave. Bouncing a foot back, Raditz swung his fist forward, aimed at Piccolo's head but he evaded quickly, tilting his head swiftly to the side.
Raditz immediately hurled his other fist at Piccolo's chest, but Piccolo hopped back a couple of feet and swung his leg at Raditz's right upper side. Raditz sidestepped, quickly dodging the attack and fired an energy blast but Piccolo jumped up, firing a blast at Raditz.
Raditz deflected the blast harshly, but it still had burned the skin on his lower arm, wrist, and back side of his hand a bit. Shoving his hand forward immediately and putting his left hand on his right wrist, he unleashed a powerful purple energy blast towards Piccolo.
In response, Piccolo threw a violent wave of energy at the same time. The two beams clashed explosively, causing nearby debris to blow rapidly all over the place, and winds to violently rush through.
Raditz's device began to beep, rescanning Piccolo's power automatically, causing Raditz to panic. "What?! His power-level is increasing?!" His eyes went wide in panic. "There's no way that's possible! This thing must be malfunctioning!"
Raditz threw his scouter off in the distance, landing harshly against the ground, several hundred feet away, the lens cracked but it didn't break. Sturdily planting his feet in the ground, Raditz flared his aura and unleashed his ki further, causing the ground beneath him to crack and break.
Realizing that the increase wasn't doing much, Raditz jumped forward, pushing his beam closer. Piccolo did the same, which as they approached, caused the two blasts to explode wildly from being pushed close-range, hitting both fighters, despite their attempts to block.
The explosion caused both fighters to be knocked into large rock formations in opposite directions. After a short moment, when Raditz reappeared, a slanted half of his armor on the left side was destroyed. Aside from some minor bruises and scratches, there was a small but deep wound on his left upper arm.
Piccolo as well was covered in minor bruises and scratches, but nothing too fatal or severe, his clothes were somewhat tattered, but it ended there. Piccolo stood back up, cracking his neck and knuckles, spitting the slight amount of blood that came into his mouth off to the side.
Raditz walked over to his scouter and picked it back up, putting it on he noticed another powerlevel coming from afar, and it seemed only twenty minutes away.
"A powerlevel of 500?" Raditz looked to the sky, towards the south. "This must be Kakarot!"
"Hey! What do you think you're doing! Bring back your attention over here!" Piccolo shouted. "Let's finish this!"
Raditz cracked his knuckles. "Gladly." He said. "Let's get this done and over with, green man!"
Raditz darted forward, hurling his fist at Piccolo. Piccolo tilted his head, and lifted his right arm to block, then countered and shot his fist against Raditz's chin, then rammed his elbow aimed at Raditz's face, but Raditz disappeared.
Reappearing behind Piccolo, about fifty feet away, Raditz stretched his two arms out, and created two massive energy spheres, which upon fire at Piccolo, split into hundreds of much smaller blasts.
"Monday Blitz!" Raditz bellowed. Piccolo jumped back several times, dodging most of the blasts but some still had hit him, finally leaping to the side, Piccolo stepped away from the fire. Raditz however, appeared behind Piccolo and took the ends of Piccolo's pants, lifting them upwards to trip Piccolo.
Piccolo fell face forward, and Raditz gained some distance throwing another energy wave.
As Piccolo pushed himself up, turning around, he growled viciously. "Y-You bastard! That was a dirty tri-!" Piccolo couldn't finish, he had to jump out of the wave before another purple energy wave struck him. A powerful one that had created a deep crater where he previously stood.
"So that's how you wanna play it?" Piccolo muttered. Taking his index and middle finger from his right hand, he placed it on his forehead, focusing his energy to a single point. A tremendous amount of energy quickly built up, already raising Piccolo's energy to a frightening point for Raditz.
"What?! His power jumped again?! It's over sixteen hundred!" Raditz gaped, slightly shaking. He shook his head, regained himself again. "No! I won't let him finish!" Raditz dropped to the ground, lifted his hand in the air, and created a pink electrical looking energy sphere, with a smaller smoother pink energy blast inside.
Immediately, Raditz unleashed his attack, sending it directly at Piccolo. "Saturday Crash!" Raditz shouted. Surprisingly, Piccolo smirked in response, as if he expected something like this.
"Perfect!" Piccolo whispered to himself. As the blast came close, Piccolo shoved his two fingers forward, a mighty yellow ki beam erupted from his two fingers, with a spiraling yellow energy circle that wrapped around the first beam.
The two blasts collided, and Raditz's pink sphere was destroyed, exploded, and Piccolo's continued it's way to Raditz. Raditz's eyes went wide, sweat dripped from his face, and tried to cover the attack with his arms out of panic.
Nearly before reaching Raditz though, it crashed against the right in front of Raditz on the ground, then a violent eruption bursted from the ground, striking Raditz. After a moment, when the explosion and dust from the explosion had settled, Raditz was unconscious.
His nerves were clearly fried, his armor was in ruins, and the packed punch caused by the violent explosion had fractured a few rib bones. Not long after, Goku arrived on the scene, filled with questions.
"Piccolo?" Goku said. "So one of those energies I sensed was you! Wow!" Goku formed a cheerful smile on his face. "You've gotten stro-...Wait...who's that?" Goku pointed to Raditz with confusion on his face.
"Long story, says he's your brother from outer space or somethin." Piccolo replied. "I don't care what you do with him, just take him off my hands so I can return to my training." Piccolo turned around, sighing to himself. "Not that I care, but watch it Goku, he's a bit tricky, I still need you around so I can kill you and take Earth myself."
"Alright, See Ya Piccolo." Goku said. Piccolo took quickly off, leaving the vicinity of the area, and as Piccolo left, Tienshinhan arrived on scene, to which Goku greeted happily. "Hiya Tien!"
"Hey Goku!" Tien replied. He looked to the west. "Was that Piccolo I saw leave?" Goku nodded in response. "I see...then he was the one fighting, who was that other energy he was fighting though?"
Obviously, Goku didn't question why Tien was here or came here, it was pretty obvious, I mean an energy as powerful as Piccolo is now, and an energy that is nearly equal in power duking off in battle? That's pretty obvious.
Goku shrugged. "Honestly. I have no idea, according to Piccolo, him.." Goku pointed to Raditz. "He says that he's my brother from outer space or somethin?" Goku shrugged again. "I'm not really sure what that's all about but I know I don't have a brother."
"Well, I guess we could take him to Roshi's, ask questions then. Looks like Piccolo did a number on him." Tien suggested.
"Sounds great. I'll get a Senzu for him." Goku reached into his pocket but Tien put his hand out in front of Goku.
"Wait. Let's play it safe, his energy felt pretty evil, we'll give him the Senzu, AFTER, asking questions. Sounds good?" Tien said.
Goku nodded. "Yeah, Good Idea." Goku walked over to Raditz, and threw him over his shoulder, then attempted to fly but fell back down. "Okay...Maybe you should fly with him, I'm still kinda new at this technique."
Tien nodded, and Goku chuckled a bit.
Yawning quietly on the couch of Kame House, Gohan began to doze off, watching tv, eventually falling down on one of the couch pillows.
"Looks like he's all tuckered out." Bulma said. "I guess we should put him to bed." She turned to Roshi. "Do you still have that extra mattress upstairs?"
Roshi nodded. "Actually, yeah. I keep it clean up there in case any extra guests come over." He answered. "Room might be a lil dusty, but nothing more than that."
Bulma picked up Gohan, and took him upstairs, where she placed him on the extra mattress with a pillow, and a cozy blanket before walking downstairs. Shortly after, Goku had returned, with Tien following along, and Raditz over his shoulder.
When the others had seen Raditz, they were shocked, flabbergasted.
"Goku! How can you be sure it's safe to bring this guy here?!" Bulma said.
"Hey, Relax. Piccolo wounded him pretty badly, there's no way he can do anything." Goku replied.
"Yeah, and what's this nonsense about him being your brother?" Krillin wondered.
Goku shrugged. "I don't know, we'll have to ask him when he wakes up." Goku said. "Gotta find somewhere to put him down."
"Oh no!" Roshi abrupted. "Don't even think about putting him on mah couch! I've already had enough blood stains from you boys when you were kids!"
Goku chuckled sheepishly. "Ahaha! Ok Master, we'll just place him down here on the grass til he wakes up."
Which was exactly what Goku did. They waited….and waited...and waited, eventually night fell, and he was still unconscious. He was alive, not dead, not in a fatal condition, but unconscious still, perhaps Piccolo had done more damage than Goku realized.
Morning came, and when Goku awoke, he caught Raditz crawling on the island, trying to escape.
"Heya!" Goku called out. Raditz flinched, turned his head, expecting something else but when he saw Goku, he looked relieved.
"K-Kakarot?" Raditz muttered. Goku looked confused. "Kakarot! It's you! You're alive!" Right after, Krillin, and Roshi walked out. Then Raditz's relieved look turned into a look of spite. "So it appears that the green man was right. You've gone and disgraced the Saiyan race! Hanging out with the likes of lowlives like that?!"
Despite not knowing who this "Kakarot" was, the only person Raditz could be referring to have been Goku, and being called a lowlife? That was uncool, Master Roshi and Krillin both glared at Raditz.
"Lowlives? Hey! Who're you calling a lowlife!" Krillin shouted. "And who's this Kaka..whatever guy you keep talking to! There's nobody named that here!"
Master Roshi spoke up next. "Yeah! You ain't making any sense!" He added.
"Don't play du-" Raditz replied. Raditz tried to stand but was still hurt, he fell to his knees, naturally Goku tried to help but Raditz pushed him away, then noticed Goku's tail was gone.
"Kakarot! You're tail! It's gone!" Raditz blurted.
Goku raised an eyebrow, and tilted his head. "Yea, it got removed a long time ago." He said. "But how did you…" Goku paused at the sight of Raditz's tail waving around behind him, gasping in sight. "Y-You...You got a tail! Like I did!"
The others in response had gasped as well.
Raditz stood back up once more. "Yes! Do you remember Kakarot?" Raditz said. "I knew you couldn't have forgotten your own brother!"
"Brother? Sorry, I don't have a brother. I think you have me confused with someone else." Goku replied.
"Have you conf...Are you daft? Is my tail not proof enough for you?!" Raditz pointed out angrily.
Goku looked at the others who shrugged. "He's got a point Goku." Roshi said. "Maybe we should at least hear him out?"
Krillin looked to his Master. "What? You can't be serious? Hear him out? He's clearly a crazy fruit loop!" Krillin protested. "I mean Goku doesn't have a brother or belong to another race, and like that you're just gonna go with it?"
"I never said that to Krillin. I'm just saying! Maybe we should listen before jumping to conclusions!" Master Roshi replied.
"I agree with Master Roshi, Krillin." Goku said. He looked back at Raditz. "Not that I believe you." Goku gave a cautious and stern look.
Raditz chuckled a bit. "You look so much like our Father…" Raditz muttered. "Alright then, now that you're being reasonable…"
Raditz stood straight. "My name is Raditz, and you, Kakarot, are my brother. We are born to a race of warriors, known as the Saiyans." He explained. "The Saiyans resided on a planet called Vegeta, a small planet about a year's worth of space travel from here. About twenty-three years ago however, the planet was destroyed by a meteor collision."
"Now, does that answer your questions?"
Goku gave a cautious look, thought for a second then shook his head. "Sorry, but I don't buy it."
Clenching his fist in his frustration, Raditz dropped his jaw. "Wha-..Are you serious? How can you not remember!" He shouted. He calmed himself for a second. "Hold on a second. Have you ever had any blows to the head when you were little, perhaps something good enough that could've possibly wiped your memory."
Goku raised an eyebrow again. "Yeah, once, but I was really little so I don't remember much."
"Then there. That explains it! You don't remember cause you've hit your head!" Raditz pointed out. "That is the only explanation! There's no way you can deny it!"
"That doesn't prove anything!" Krillin shouted. "I won't lie, that's a pretty good reason, but I doubt that's the explanation. There's no way Goku is from outer space. And even if he was! It wouldn't matter, he'd still be my best friend!"
"How can you not believe me?!" Raditz shouted. "I've managed to back up what I'm saying so far! We both got tails, and he looks exactly like our Father! Not to mention our true potential that comes out after a full moon!"
Master Roshi and Krillin shrunk, glancing at each other, a full moon? Like a Great Ape? That even adds more to this guy's theory.
"I think he may be right…" Master Roshi said. Krillin and Goku looked to Master Roshi in disbelief.
"See! The old man agrees!" Raditz said. "You surely have to believe me now!"
"Hold on a second." Goku replied, he turned back to Roshi. "What do you mean Master Roshi?"
"It actually explains a lot...You see, about twenty-ish years ago, your Grandfather Gohan, told me something." Master Roshi said. "A story you might call it...of a child that came from space."
Master Roshi continued on to explain of a round pod, a spaceship, that crashed from the skies into the Mountains of Paozu, which whether by pure luck or destiny, had landed not too far off from Gohan. At first the child was unruly and savage, but later after a nearly fatal incident, to which the child miraculously survived but had no longer the bloodthirst he once had, and rather was kind-hearted, and nice.
Goku bit his lips, looking down for a second at Roshi. "That was me...wasn't it?" He asked. Roshi nodded in response.
"I told you I wasn't lying!" Raditz said. "Now that we've got that all explained! You are to come with me, to where the last of our kind are."
"Woah hold on a second here!" Krillin replied. Raditz grumbled, sighing angrily. "Just because Goku comes from Outer Space, and that he has a brother, that doesn't mean he can just uproot his life to go live with you!"
"Nonsense! It is a part of our race! The Saiyans, especially now that only a handful remain, must stick together! Like a pack!" Raditz pointed out.
"No." Goku said. "Krillin is right! I can't just leave Earth because of this. I have friends here! A family! Besides...I would never join someone who purges planets! That is downright evil!"
"Yeah, Goku's not going anywhere." Tien added.
Raditz growled in frustration. "Yes. You c-...Wait what a family? Don't tell me you actually bore a child with these...low life vermin!"
"If you mean them, my people, then yes, I did." Goku replied.
Raditz scoffed, and mumbled under his breath. Bulma, along with Gohan, had then walked outside.
"What's going on?" Bulma asked, facing Goku. While Goku and the others were talking to Bulma. Gohan walked a bit closer to the railing of the porch, curiously staring at Raditz.
Raditz noticed in the corner of his eyes, Gohan, and his tail, then a malicious idea appeared on his face.
"Fine then! If you won't come with me, I'll just take your son, and blast you to smithereens!" Raditz grinned. He fired a blast towards Goku, and leaped forward to Gohan, who had no time to react, but luckily for him, Tien hurled a fist at Raditz, and stopped the blast.
All was done before anyone had noticed exactly what happened, the four year old boy just seemed confused.
"Tch! Damnit! Maybe that wasn't such a good idea." Raditz thought, as he winced from the pain inflicted on him. He pushed himself up from his elbows.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't obliterate you right now?" Tien asked.
Raditz chuckled. "Because...If you don't…" He said. Goku walked up next to Tien. "Then you'll all be dead."
Tien raised an eyebrow. "What're you talking about?"
"Remember how I mentioned that there were only a handful of Saiyans left?" Raditz said. "Well, there are two others, and well you can see how strong I was earlier, now imagine two somebodies, more than ten times that strong. That's how strong they are. If you end me now, they'll come after you."
"Even if you try to escape on a ship, it wouldn't be hard to find you, our technology is far more advanced than yours. They will find you."
Before anyone could continue to speak however, a transmission, two voices, echoed through Raditz's slightly cracked device on his face. Both were laughing, one sounded bruteish, and another sounded sly.
"Hahaha! You hear that Vegeta! Raditz thinks he's actually of that much value!" The bruteish voice laughed.
"Yeah, I guess travelling with us all those years has gone to his head." Vegeta, the sly sounding one replied. "The only reason we'd come down to that ridiculous planet, Raditz, is to get that thirteen hundred powerlevel fighter that took you down. He's clearly more valuable than you."
"Yeah! And I bet we could force that weakass brother of yours to join us as well!" The bruteish one added.
"Yeah, in fact. I think we will come. If we find you still alive in a year, Raditz...well hope you just aren't alive or somewhere else!" Vegeta said.
The transmission ended and then the scouter ended.
"Sure didn't sound too friendly." Goku said, pointing the obvious out purposefully. "Sounds like they're coming anyway."
"Tch! Doesn't matter! I'll just escape with my ship." Raditz replied.
"Didn't you just say they could find you?" Tien asked, smirking. "Not to mention you have similar technology as them, I bet they could find you much easier."
Raditz's eyes slightly widened, and he gritted his teeth, he was put in a dilemma, stuck. He was now out of options, this was it, the end. What was he supposed to do? Then one option...one that disgusted Raditz….and that would be to beg for help.
And Raditz refused to beg for help...but maybe just asking wasn't a bad idea?
"Damn I can't believe I'm doing this." Raditz muttered.
"Let me guess. Do you want our help?" Tien asked, mockingly.
"Not if you're gonna mock me like that." Raditz growled.
Krillin walked up, with a large grin on his face. "Suit yourself then." He added. "Guess you'll just have to be killed by those so-called comrades of yours."
"Dammit! Stop making this difficult!" Raditz shouted. "Already bad enough, I have to ask for help, but the fact that there's no way anyone could beat them is already making this feel pointless."
"Making it difficult? You're the one who came here demanding to take Goku away, then tried to kill him, and kidnap his son!" Krillin pointed out. "And to top it off, you insulted us, and our entire race."
Raditz grumbled and sighed begrudgingly. "Fine. It was a mistake. An error in judgment. Perhaps I could've been better about my...approach." He admitted. Then he looked at Goku. "But Kakarot..You wouldn't let your own flesh and blood die would you?"
Goku looked at Raditz for a moment, and saw the sincerity in his eyes, searching for his intent. "Alright." Goku smiled. "Of course I wouldn't, but stop calling me Kakarot, my name is Son Goku."
"Nonsense. I will call you by your Saiyan name." Raditz shook his head. "I refuse to call you Son Goku. I will acknowledge that you have an Earthling name but that is it."
Goku shrugged. "Okay then.." Goku gave Raditz a hand.
"Wait, Goku, are you sure about this?" Bulma said. "You're just gonna roll with this?"
Goku nodded. "Ya-huh. I mean if what he says is true, then yeah. Me being an alien changes nothing, I'm still an Earthling. I was raised on Earth."
Helping Raditz to his feet, Goku handed Raditz a Senzu Bean, Raditz gave Goku a weird look.
"The hell is this?" Raditz asked.
"It's a Senzu Bean. Eat it." Goku answered. Raditz gave a skeptic look, cautiously putting the bean in his mouth, then as his injuries healed and his energy restored, his muscles pumped for a second.
Raditz stared in shock and awe. "WHAT KIND OF BLACK MAGIC?!"
"It's not black magic. It's a Senzu Bean. They restore one who eats it's energy, heals their injuries, and fills their stomach for up to ten days." Tien interrupted, explaining.
"Incredible…" Raditz said. "Perhaps...This planet has something of value after all. If we had beans like these years ago...things would be far different."
"Yeah well, they aren't exactly the easiest to grow, Korin can only ever get so much grown...at least since Yajirobe has been living at his place." Goku explained.
"Who's Ko...you know what, don't care. We need to come up with a plan for this whole situation." Raditz said. "But first things first. It appears some breakfast is in order!"
To be continued…
A/N: If you're reading this as of 09/03/2021, then be warned. I have not updated Chapter 2 to be in coordination with this. Chapter Two's beginning is a bit of a repetition of the whole Raditz proving he's Goku's brother. But most of Chapter Two should be all new stuff.
For old readers who've read all the old stuff, yes I will be updating old chapters for clarity and because they need to be updated. The powerlevels in this chapter were changed to be a little more realistic, but not by much.
For absolute Clarity, DB Minus is no longer canon in this fanfic, but rather will be thrown around as a joke.
I've also multiple times lost my list of Raditz's energy attacks, so names keep getting changed around. So let me know if y'all notice somethin wrong...
Powerlevels:
Raditz: 1,500 | Weakened: 200
Goku: 600 (suppressed) | 1,500 (Full Power)
Tien: 1,400
Piccolo: 1,300 | Special Beam Cannon: 1,600 (Not a charged SBC)
