Chapter 1: Two Young Hopefuls

A bald black man in a long grey coat and sunglasses walked up to a small crater in the desert with a black object inside. It opened and a video recording played before him. Whatever it showed him shook the normally stoic man. "I need to confirm this." He said, "The fate of world maybe at stake but who are these two? Lincoln Loud and Ronnie Anne Santiago?"

*Spy Hero Agent Delta. He's a pro hero who works for the Special Protection Enforcement Allied Reserve or S.P.E.A.R. for short, an international intelligence agency. His Quirk is unfortunately classified for now. His age is also classified.*

Sometime later during a rain storm a bus full of middle schoolers swerved and fell into a deep ditch. "Everyone, please remain calm!" the teacher said.

"But the water's rising fast! The first responders won't get here in time!" one girl screamed.

"We're all going to drown!" a boy yelled.

"Clyde give me a boost to the roof hatch!" Lincoln told his best friend,

"But that cliff face is too slippery from the rain! We can't climb up it!" Clyde said as Lincoln got on the roof. Lincoln held out his arms pointing them to the chain link fence the bus crashed through. "Wait Lincoln you're going to use it?"

Lincoln closed his fists and made a pulling motion, he seemed to strain himself, "Come on!" he yelled as the fence uprooted itself and flew down the ditch attaching to the bus forming a ladder. "Everyone! Climb up! My power is the only thing holding this up!"

*Lincoln Loud, age 13. His Quirk: Mag Lev. He can produce an electromagnetic field that can move metallic objects in a 9-meter radius or attract and repel himself to or from them.*

Everyone climbed out to the road above as ambulances and news vans drove up. "I had no idea Loud had a quirk." One of his classmates said,

"He's the first kid in this town to be born with one." Another answered,

*Royal Woods Michigan, USA. Unlike most of the planet most of this small town's population are Quirkless. Pretty darn strange if you ask me.*

"So, I guess that means you're going to try to be a pro hero after you graduate. You saved all our butts man." The first classmate said to Lincoln.

"Is this true? Do plan on enrolling in a hero course?" a reporter asked,

"Me a pro? I don't think so. I'm just a guy from Royal Woods who did what he could. I didn't even think to use the fence until I saw it from the roof." Lincoln said,

"When we were little Lincoln was teased for his Quirk, so he doesn't use it much. But he loves heroes and he might be better at it then he thinks." Clyde thought,

"Is my Quirk really my talent? Can I really be a hero?" Lincoln wondered,

The next day in Great Lakes City Ronnie Anne walked into the Mercado. "Hey Bobby, how are your business classes going?" she asked,

Before he could answer two men walked in. One had spikey purple hair while the other looked like he was half crab. "We told the old man to pay up the two grand for protection now give it!" The spikey haired one said as the crab smashed a self.

"Woah even if I would pay there's not enough in the register!" Bobby said with his hands up.

"Wrong answer!" the villain held up his hand which shot needles at Bobby.

"No!" Ronnie Anne jumped front of her brother surrounded by a yellow energy.

*Ronnie Anne Santiago, age 13. Her Quirk: Aura. She can create a force field around herself or someone she is touching. She can even shape it into simple objects. It even changes color depending on her mood. She's the second person born in Royal Woods to get a Quirk.*

The needles bounced off Ronnie's Aura, which turned red. "No one hurts my brother!" She formed a large fist and punched the criminal though the window.

"Turn your Quirk off now!" the crab said as he moved his pincher around Bobby's neck. "No need for anyone to lose their heads."

"What's the matter? Scared of a young girl?" a voice said,

"Who said that?"

"Down here crab cake." The villain looked down and saw a tiny woman wearing a head band with mouse ears who grew to regular size while giving him an upper cut knocking him out. Later when the police arrived the hero who was at the scene had a few words for Ronnie Anne. "I've been tracking this protection racket for a while. Young lady while it was a good thing you protected the store clerk you did not have the authority to attack this villain."

*Pro Hero Ms. Mouse. Her Quirk: Shrink. It's handy for surveillance and surprise attacks.*

Ronnie Anne rubbed her head, "Sorry but I just acted before I realized what was really going on."

"Well the cops will let you off with a warning this time but get certified before you do it again. You have a crazy good Quirk, and in a few years, you would make a great sidekick." Ms. Mouse walked off before Ronnie Anne could respond.

"Sidekick? Next time? But…I never thought of being a hero." Ronnie formed her Aura that was swirling in the colors of different emotion and confusion.

A few days later All Might walked into the conference room at U.A. High in his muscle form. "I wonder who it is that Principle Nezu wants me to meet? Still this better not take too long, while he is currently in class I've only just started young Midoriya's training." As Allmight opened the door he said. "I am here!"

"You can cut the act All Might, I know all about your injury. S.P.E.A.R. has been following the holders of One for All since before your master got it." Agent Delta said as All Might deflated spitting blood in shock.

"I should have known you guys would have figured it out since you got eyes and ears everywhere."

"Agent Delta has a request for our school." Nezu said in his usual cheerful self.

"This is top secret, so this doesn't leave this room." Delta pointed to a black box with a video screen on the table that began playing a message from what looked like an older version of Agent Delta.

"If you are seeing this then the experiment worked, and this recording made it back to the past to my younger self. Years from when you are now our greatest hero had perished saving us from an unparalleled threat before he could pass on One for All. All simulations point that two Quirks could have saved him if only their holders were trained as heroes, but they lacked the encouragement to try. The world still needs him so it is up to you to get Lincoln Loud and Ronnie Anne Santiago to walk down that path or we will lose the greatest power to protect us." The recording showed the image of a young man and woman.

"I had Sir Nighteye use his foresight on me and the proximity to this device seemed to boost the range of his vision temporally. He saw me making this recording. It's legit."

"That would mean…" All Might finished in his mind. "Young Midoriya could…"

"I looked over the reports on two the incidents that shows the promise of Mr. Loud and Ms. Santiago." Nezu handed All Might two pieces of newspaper clippings. "We can't force them to become heroes but perhaps all they need is to be presented with the right opportunity."

Delta continued. "We'll approached these two with a new S.P.E.A.R. program that looks for promising youth and offer to recommend them to U.A. this spring. Once they are enrolled, you'll train them along with your chosen successor All Might. That way it will maximize their chances that they can keep up with him when the time comes."

All Might finished reading the articles. "I don't like how you're planning their futures for them. It reminds me of a villain I know." All Might almost growled at the thought of All for One. "However, I see something you may have overlooked. Like I told someone recently, all the greatest heroes have one thing in common and that is that their bodies moved to help someone without thinking and from what I gathered from these articles they both said that happened to them. I'll agree to your plan on one condition! You give the offer yourself and make sure that this is something they really want to do."

"Whatever you say Mr. Symbol of Peace." Delta sounded annoyed,

Nezu then gave his thoughts. "Good, but we also must make sure they can even handle the U.A. training. This how I think we should test them; it will even let us see a testing method Mr. Aizawa thinks will improve our own entrance test after the next one."

A few days later Lincoln was riding home with his sisters in Vanzilla. They had just picked up Lily from preschool when Luna; who had taken over driving duty since Lori and Leni left for college; noticed a black car was parked in front of their house as they pulled up. "Wonder who that ride belongs to."

When the nine Louds came in Agent Delta was sitting in the easy chair while Lynn Sr. and Rita were on the couch. "Kids this Agent Delta, a pro hero and he wants to talk to Lincoln." Rita said, motioning for Lincoln to join them on the couch.

"Could you girls go upstairs please?" their dad asked.

"Sure pop, we'll head up, up, and away." Luan joked as they went upstairs.

Delta could tell that Lincoln's sisters were eves dropping from the next floor but that didn't matter. "Nine kids, I think I would rather face a hundred villains in a single battle than have then deal with that every day."

Lynn Sr. looked confused, "Nine? Oh right, there are only nine in the house now. Our two oldest have moved out."

"These people ever hear of cold showers?" Delta wondered. "In any case I'm here because your son had done quite the act of heroism and my organization wants to encourage the talent of those who could be called heroic prodigies but are often overlooked so we are starting a program that would send such individuals to accredited hero schools and I think Lincoln could be one of our first students we can admit to U.A. High this coming spring and just to let you know I already presented this offer to your friend Ms. Santiago earlier today." If things went as planned, then this meeting would go the same as that one even under All Might's restriction. He ran the memory of that meeting in his mind along with this one using the same words he said then.

"Isn't that all the way in Japan? And Ronnie Anne is still a couple years away from high school." Maria Santiago asked, and Rita would ask almost the exact same question. When that meeting happened not only were Ronnie Anne's parents there but also her grandparents.

"Yes, so learning enough Japanese to read the textbooks and carry a conversation will be a must. And according to your school transcripts they were going to suggest that you move to the high school level next year. However, there is no guarantee that your child can go but before that may I see your Quirk? I understand that you are the first in your family to develop a power." Ronnie Anne made her Aura which at that moment was a calm blue. Lincoln levitated on of his sister's trophies to him from the case. In both instances Delta came to the same conclusion. "That is a good power but not as great as it could be. Because of where you grew up you haven't been using your quirk, so it is underdeveloped. In a little under ten months a local hero school, North Central Academy will be holding their entrance exams and two U.A. teachers will be there to judge you if you decide to take this test to get in. You have that long to strengthen your body and quirk while maintaining good grades at your school. I also know that you have gotten into some colorful situations in the past but from here on out you need to be a model citizen, they are looking for students to be heroes after all. None of this will be easy, this test is for people a little older than you, so I have to ask, do you want to be a hero? Do you have the drive to be among the greats like All Might himself?" The children's answers were something Delta would remember for the rest of his life.

Ronnie Anne took a deep breath. "I always wanted to help people like my mom and dad do but I always thought it would be as a doctor. But until that shake down happened the thought of helping in a different way never crossed my mind. Mom, Dad you're not sad that I might want to be something else?"

Arturo hugged his daughter. "Ronita, your mother and I would be proud whatever you decided to do. But Heroes help too. Both of us had patients we were only able to help because a hero got them to us in time."

Hector spoke next. "Ronnie Anne, you are the very first in this family to be blessed with a power. It has to be for a reason."

"I want help people and if my power lets me do that then why should I say no?" Ronnie Anne asked,

Lincoln had different reasons. "Last year just before my sister Leni graduated a gang rolled into town and thought that with no pro heroes here, they could set up their own little kingdom. This isn't the first time this happened, but Leni got hurt and went into a coma for a week, she almost died before the pros from Great Lakes City came to stop the gang. I was in so much pain at the thought that I could lose her or anyone. In that bus everything just clicked together I couldn't help but think 'Their friends and families will suffer if they die.' Everyone has someone who they care about and cares about them and I never want anyone to suffer the pain and sadness of losing someone they care about to some villain or accident if I can do something about it! I want to be like All Might whose very existence reduces crime and then no one would dare attack my hometown again!"

Their answers had these words in common. "Yes! I want to go! I want to be a hero!"

Delta smiled after Lincoln said that. "I got give this to All Might, he had these kids pegged. No wonder he's the number one hero." He then said, "Alright, I'll make the arrangements and I'll keep an eye on your progress. The test has two portions besides the written exam, the quirk demonstration and villain's alley. Remember you need four things to prepare. 1) Train your quirk and body. 2) Maintain your grades 3) Model Citizen 4) Learn Japanese. I'm sure your family and friends will want to help you." Agent Delta left and for Lincoln and Ronnie Anne like another U.A. hopeful ten months of hell began.

Lynn Jr. took charge of Lincoln's physical training including five-mile runs. "Come on Stinkon if you can't keep up with me then how do think you'll catch the bad guys! You want to be Plus Ultra? Then do like U.A. says and go beyond!"

Lincoln could barely catch his breath but pushed forward. "I will go beyond!"

Ronnie Anne meanwhile stood in an alley with Carl. "This should make your shield stronger." He opened a can of tuna and ran.

"Not again!" Ronnie Anne said as she tried to keep her yellow Aura up as the gang of cats swarmed her.

Luan and Lana built an obstacle course that flung pies and mud at Lincoln while he tried to keep two weights in the air. One time he dodged a pie, but it went out of their yard. "Louds!" Mr. Grouse was not happy.

Sid tried to help her friend.

*Sid Chang, age 13. Her Quirk: Aniear. She can understand what animals are saying. She uses this power to help her mom's work in the zoo.*

Sid listened to what some reptiles said were shapes they wanted Ronnie Anne to make. "Derrick wants to see a butterfly. Oh, Eliza says she always wanted to see the pyramids!" Ronnie Anne groaned from the constant changing.

Learning a new language was perhaps the hardest part for them. Lisa was particularly strict, "By the time the test comes I want all our conversations to be in Japanese. These electrodes should help."

"Lisa are you sure about this?" Lincoln asked,

"Iie! Baka!" Lisa pushed a button and Lincoln was zapped.

Ronnie Anne's uncle Carlos helped her with her Japanese in the evenings. "No, this kanji is not right. If your teachers can't read your writing, then they'll think you are not learning your lessons. Let us try it again." However, Ronnie Anne could barely stay awake.

However, what they both got the most from their friends and family was support. "Lincoln look at what I drew!" Lily held up a drawing of him with the word hero on it.

"This sage should give all the positive energy you need Mija." Ronnie Anne grandmother Rosa used whatever charms and incense she thought would help.

In S.P.E.A.R. headquarters delta looked at a tablet. "They seem to be making progress. They may have a chance which means we have a chance."

And then the day of the test came Lincoln Parents brought him while Ronnie Anne arrived with her mother. "Lincoln!" Ronnie Anne ran up to him. "I'm so glad you decided to take this test too. I hope you pass."

"You too Ronnie Anne." Lincoln said as they went into the auditorium where the quirk demonstrations were to be held. Inside he recognized the teacher from U.A. "Woah! That's 13 and Cementoss!"

Cementoss smiled at the pair, "Try not to be nervous."

"Just show us what you can do." 13 said,

"Right!" Lincoln and Ronnie Anne said as they took their seats and waited to be called.

"So, those are the kids that are taking OUR test for U.A." one guy said,

"Well I'm not going to let a couple barely in their teens upstage ME!" a girl said,

"Lincoln Loud." One of the school proctors called. Lincoln came on stage with a small pouch on his belt and a duffle bag. "Your quirk is magnetic levitation. Show us how you would use it."

Lincoln opened the pouch and out came several ball bearings. "Remember what Lola said, this is like a pageant and I need to wow them." Lincoln caused the bearings to swirl around hitting some set up targets and then linked them together into a chain wrapping around a mannequin dressed up as a villain. He then used his powers to open the duffle and out flew some rods which he used as a ladder and then directed most of them to form a cage around the dummy.

"He certainly is creative with his quirk. The boy has already thought of multiple ways to use it to capture villains." Cementoss said writing down a score.

"Ronnie Anne Santiago."

"Okay, I'm not letting my stage fright get in the way of my big chance. Just focus on what you are doing." Ronnie Anne came up and pointed to a gun on a table. The proctor picked it up and pointed it at her and fired rubber bullets as a blue aura formed around her blocking multiple shots. She then shaped it into a sword and slashed at target. She then changed the sword into a hammer and smashed a plaster wall. Finally, she touched the dummy forming a cube around it.

13 spoke her thoughts. "She has both defensive and offensive power and can use her quirk to both capture and protect. Very versatile."

After the demos were over the candidates moved outside to a large gate. The proctor explained the test. "This is the entrance to villain's alley. Like the old Hogan's alley, you must determine friend from foe. Those without offensive powers will be given paintball guns. You have fifteen minutes to get to the end and score as many points as you can by attacking the faux villains. You lose points if you cause damage to civilians or get hit by a villain's paint ball." When everyone who needed a gun got one the test began.

The judges watched from a control room. "This not just a test of combat ability but also judgement." Cementoss said, "Heroes must be aware of their surroundings and make life and death calls in an instant." Ronnie Anne formed an aura around another student blocking some paint. "Take this Santiago girl for example, even though they are competing she protected that young man. Like how even if heroes compete for the fame and glory it does no one any good to allow a fellow hero to come to harm. She definitely earned some rescue points."

Lincoln moved his ball bearings in an arc so the faux villain next to a civilian would be hit in the back of the head. 13 took some notes. "Loud isn't a slouch either. There is more to this situation then first appears, while most to try to avoid hitting the hostage both are standing next to canisters marked explosive. If you are careless with your shot, then you risk hitting one resulting in a large loss of points. He lost time but he noticed and made sure he only hit the villain and avoided the canisters."

When the test was over the pair found their parents. "Do you know where Mr. Cementoss or Ms. 13 are?" Lincoln asked,

"We want to know if we passed." Ronnie explained,

Rita looked sad, "Sorry kids but they had to take the next fight back to Japan. The test for the regular applicants to U.A. is soon and they had to be there for that. But they said they would mail us the results."

"Oh, I see. Well Ronnie Anne we'll call each other as soon as we know something." Lincoln said.

Ronnie Anne nodded, "Sure. I hope we see each other again soon."

"Come on Ronnie Anne. Your grandmother is sure to be cooking you up a feast for all your hard work today." Maria said,

Lynn Sr. reassured his son too, "Yeah don't worry Lincoln. Let's get you home to relax. I'll make some of my Lynnsagnia tonight."

"And remember sweetie no matter what, you are a hero to me." Rita said,

A few days later both Lincoln and Ronnie Anne got letters in the mail. Their friends and family gathered together for the announcement. The Casagrandes on the roof of their building including Lori, and the Louds in their backyard. "I'm am so excited and it's not even my letter!" Sid said.

At the Loud house Clyde said, "If you do go, I'll miss you buddy. But Doctor Lopez remined me that as your friend I should be supportive."

"Thanks Clyde. Well here goes." Lincoln opened the letter as did Ronnie Anne and a small holo-disk fell out projecting what looked like a large white rodent.

"Oh, he looks so cute in that little business suit!" Leni who had come home for this said,

"Greetings, I am Nezu. If you don't recognize me, I am the principle of U.A. high. I have recorded this message to congratulate you on joining us here in U.A."

"Is this real? Am I dreaming?" Ronnie Anne asked.

CJ pinched her. "Nope. Not Dweaming."

"I now will pass this on to one of your new hero course teachers." Nezu said as a deep laughter could be heard.

"No way!" Lincoln said not believing his ears.

"OMG!" Lori said in shock.

"Luan this better not be one of your pranks!" Lynn Jr. gasped,

"Like I could pull this off." Luan replied in a hushed tone,

"That's right! I am here! Teaching at U.A.!" All Might said as the camera pointed at him.

"My best friend is going to learn from the greatest hero in the world! Clyde yelled.

Frida looked at her niece. "'You are going to learn at the feet of the master! This is like if Davinci himself was my art teacher!"

All Might continued to speak, "I look forward to you joining me this spring. I'll show you what it takes to be a pro. Remember that you earned this with all your hard work." He then held out his hand. "Lincoln Loud." Lincoln's family gathered around him. "Ronnie Anne Santiago." And Ronnie Anne's did the same. "Welcome, to the Hero Academia."

"I can't believe this." Ronnie Anne cried.

"Lincoln isn't he amazing? His smile lights up even my dark soul." Lucy said, but Lincoln didn't say anything. When she touched her brother he fell over, he had fainted from the shock.

Next time: Lincoln and Ronnie leave for Japan and meet the host families including fellow classmates Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo. And they have a big test on their first day! Next chapter, Welcome to U.A.! Go beyond! Plus Ultra!
