AN: So this idea for a one-shot has been stuck in my head for like a stupid amount of time and I thought to myself maybe if I just started to write stuff down maybe I'll get lucky and it would end up being a somewhat coherent story.
And fellow author Timothy D deserves a huge shout-out as co-creator.
(Location: the Loud house, Lincoln's room)
"Aug, why can't I get this pose right?!" the snow haired child cried in sheer frustration.
For the past hour or so, he's been working on several drawings for potential new comic book idea. Unfortunately for Lincoln, he hit a roadblock when he started working on this one character and he just couldn't quite get the pose just right. As a somewhat perfectionist, this irritated him.
"I need a break" he grumbled as he got up from his desk and laid back onto his bed. 'Hmmm, perhaps a little reading might help me recharge my creativity' he thought to himself.
He thought about picking up a few of his Ace Savvy comics, but he decided against it because he was getting tired of rereading the older issues. Plus, the character he was trying to draw wasn't really a superhero if you could believe that. This time he decided to branch out a little bit and try something different.
So that led him to think about some of his other interests.
At first he thought about a magician, but then rejected that idea due to knowing that both his friends and family aren't the biggest fans of magic. Another idea he had was a professional gamer down on his career, but that quickly got scrapped because he couldn't think of a good enough backstory for a character like that. He really couldn't think of anything cool about coin collecting or chess for that matter. He also considered making something more supernatural related but quickly realized that was more of Lucy's department.
Soon a few more ideas came to mind but were quickly rejected, except for one.
Lincoln started remembering times where he would dress up as a cowboy when he was younger. And that initially got his creativity flowing. After a few primary sketches, he tried to draw his new cowboy character in dynamic poses. And that's when problems started to arise.
"What to do, what to do…" the snow haired child mused as he tapped his finger to his chin.
The Loud boy then looked over to his beloved stuffed rabbit. "What do you think I should do Bun-Bun?" he asks even though he knew that the toy wouldn't be able to answer back. Even though Lincoln is getting older, sometimes it was just comforting to turn back the clock and feel like you're younger again.
Just then, a light bulb went off in the snow haired child's head.
'Hmmm, I wonder if I still have that old cowboy outfit' Lincoln thought to himself.
The Loud boy then got off his bed and decided to check his special trunk of costumes and props. As he rummaged around, he couldn't find what he was looking for.
"Mmmm, I must've donated it at some point" the snow haired child mused considering that the costume in question was from his early childhood and would've likely been too small for him.
Just then, another thought came to mind. 'I wonder if Luan has any spare cowboy costumes…'
(Scene change)
(Location: Luna and Luan's room)
The snow haired child then knocks on his sisters' doorframe only to be met with the sound of silence. "Oh that's right, Luna is at Sam's for band practice and Luan's on a date with Benny" he mused out loud.
As he walked deeper into the room, the Loud boy tried to search for his comedic sister's collection of outfits.
'It's got to be around here somewhere' he thought to himself, and then he decided to check the closet. As he opened the secondary door, Lincoln managed to find and pull out the racks of costumes. "Yes!" he silently exclaimed, "Now let's hope I can find what I came here for."
He spent a few solid minutes of rummaging through his sister's eclectic collection of outfits.
"Man, Luan's got an outfit for literally every occasion" he mused out loud. And just as he was about to call it quits, he managed to strike pay dirt. 'Hmm, this looks like it could fit me' he thought to himself as he inspected the outfit. A two-tone brown cowboy hat, a collared orange flannel shirt, a brown vest with a sheriff's badge, a black belt with a light grey buckle, a pair of blue jeans and a pair of brown cowboy boots.
"Huh, this almost looks my size" the snow haired child mused. Now that he's procured with what he desired, Lincoln puts the wardrobe racks back into the closet and then heads back to try out this outfit.
(back to Lincoln's room)
After going through a quick change of clothing, Lincoln sets up his phone to take a few pictures.
While he might not be as good of a photographer like Lori, he knew enough to not take blurry pictures. The camera began to rapidly flash as the snow haired child moved his body in various poses with each flash. A few minutes later, Lincoln took back his phone and looked over the photos.
"Hmmm, these are pretty good" he thought out loud.
Deciding that the pictures he took was suitable, the snow haired child then changed back into his regular clothes and went back to his desk to continue working on his new cowboy character.
Sometime later, Lincoln looked over the completed sketches and smiled. These looked much better than the drawings that he made earlier. Satisfied with the drawings, the Loud boy put the papers in a special drawer for safe keeping. As he got up from his desk, he did a quick stretch to loosen his limbs.
"Ah, might as well return the costume to Luan. I hope its okay that I borrowed it" he mused.
As the snow haired child was about to return his comedic sister's property, he paused. Crazy as it might sound; the Loud boy rather enjoyed dressing up as something other than Ace Savvy.
"Well…" Lincoln drawled, "maybe I don't have to return it right away. I mean, it was deep in her closet. She probably won't miss it that much" he deducted.
And with that settled, Lincoln put the costume down for a moment. He looked over at the clock and saw that is was dinnertime soon. So the snow haired child then decides to use the rest of his free time to read some of his non Ace Savvy comics. As he began to strip down like he usually does to read comic books he paused for a moment, and looked over to the cowboy costume that's still on the bed.
'Hmmm, I wonder…' he thought to himself.
The Loud boy then decided to shake things up and put on the costume instead to do his reading. As he made himself comfortable on the bed, Lincoln noticed how nice the outfit felt.
"I could get used to this" he spoke out loud.
(One week later…)
Lincoln managed to keep this newfound interest a secret from both his friends and family, mostly because he was afraid of getting made fun of again and just simply not understanding. Currently, the snow haired child was completely focused on an intense card game with Bun-Bun. Just as Sheriff Loud was looking over his cards, his door busted open to reveal a very distressed Luan.
"Lincoln! Have you seen this funnyman?" she asks as she pulls out a missing person's poster, "He's two feet tall, orange hair and has a real ear for punchlines."
"I know Mr. Coconuts, Luan but sorry, I don't know where he is" the snow haired child confessed.
Luan sadly groans as she was so sure that her brother had to have known something about her beloved puppet's disappearance. As she began to leave the room, the comedian paused and did a double take.
"Hey, isn't that one of my spare western outfits?" she asks with curiosity.
Lincoln paled, as he was busted big time. "Uhhhh…" he began as he tries to think of a good explanation, "well would you believe me if I said I actually outgrew my old western outfit and I thought I could try out yours…?" he answers while awkwardly smiling.
The comedian couldn't help but shake her head at her brother's response. "You know if you wanted to try it on, you could've just asked. It does look kinda cute on you" she tells him.
The snow haired child blushed at his comedic sister's complement.
Luan then sat on Lincoln's bed and encouraged the Loud boy to do the same. "C'mon, what's going on here?" she asks. Lincoln sighed, and then began to explain how a week ago he originally used the costume for helping him draw but then found himself wearing it for other occasions such as reading comics.
"I know I should've asked you first, but you were out of the house that day and I figured you wouldn't miss it" Lincoln finished his real explanation to Luan who in return, smiled at her brother.
Seeing Lincoln all dressed up like a cowboy bought back a lot of her own memories.
The comedic sister began flashing back to times where she and the lone son would play dress up on a daily basis. She fondly remembered the time where she dressed up as a magician and Lincoln was in the most adorable bunny suit you could ever imagine. Then there was the times where Lincoln liked to play sheriff and Luan would act as the horse.
'It has been a long time…' she thought to herself.
Luan knew that she and Lincoln have drifted apart these last few years, but perhaps it was time to change that and soon realized she had found an opportunity for her to bond with her only brother once more.
"Well…if you're looking for an adventure Sheriff Lincoln, maybe you could use a special deputy to help you on your journey" the comedian offered, Lincoln began to perk up.
"I'd like that" he tells his sister while smiling and then the two siblings hugged.
"Well, I have to get going" Luan spoke out as they let each other go, "Mr. Coconuts is still missing and having this time to ponder I have a pretty good idea who took him." As the comedic sister got off the bed and proceeded to leave Lincoln's room, she turned around and said to him,
"We should definitely set aside some time together; I'm really interested in this new character you created."
Lincoln smiled and said, "Deal." And the siblings then shook on it and Luan went downstairs to confront the perpetrator who took her beloved Mr. Coconuts.
The snow haired child took a breath of relief that Luan wasn't mad about him taking the costume and without actually saying it, he knew that his secret was safe with her. And so he went over to his desk and pulled out a few sheets of blank paper and began to write stuff down and sketch out Luan's alter-ego. He was going to make his sister the best dang deputy ever.
"Let's see, The Adventures of Sheriff Loud and Deputy Luan."
He was hard at work creating adventures for him and Luan to have in the future.
The End
AN: I hope y'all enjoyed reading this piece, because I really enjoyed writing it.
And who knows, maybe if people like this I might continue it in some form or another.
