A story about a little less "noble and selfless" Subaru. The story starts in arc 6 (so minor spoilers) but will have Subaru sent back in time after receiving many buffs and If memories through contracts with Satella and Volcanica. This is no crackfic even if it sounds like one and I try my best to stay lore-friendly.

8. Chapter 8

English is not my primary language so expect typos and odd way of saying words you know the drill

Sorry for the long wait this chapter almost made me want to quit to be honest as there's some parts that i seriously disagree with but can't do much about it without breaking characters

Oh well i just try to minimize the ... times i write about parts i don't personally like and focus more on overall story.

Ch8 Shaking Foundations

As Subaru received the letter from Sage council he went to talk with Emilia and eventually he found her in her own room

"Hey you seen the summon?" Subaru greeted worried looking half-elf

"Subaru um... yes do you know what's this all about" Emilia with worry in her voice stated

"Yea i probably do meh... typical politics crap nothing to worry about too much" Subaru shrugged as he didn't actually care too much for that summon

"But more importantly did you let rem become my personal maid?" Subaru now really needed to know that, and Emilia instantly blushed forgetting her worries about the summon

"A yes i did sorry Subaru I'm busy right now" and with that blushing Emilia literally kicked Subaru out off the room

Subaru finding himself outside of Emilia's room and looking at closed doors "what was that all about" he was muttering as he walked away

He keep on walking down the mansions corridors and soon he got greeted by ram who was burning in rage "jo" Subaru casually greeted ram and ram just walked away without a word

Subaru shrugged and continued walking down the corridor soon he was greeted by Garfield who he sent to him to his new teacher afterwards he was greeted by Petra

"Um Subaru-sama did rem become your personal maid?" Petra asked

"Yea i found out only last night i don't know what she told to Emilia but oh well i can't complain" Subaru shrugged as he looked at Petra

Petra with few small tears in her eye's lifted her head up and asked "had you and rem...um.." she was muttering

"Have i what? she and i barely talk much at the moment i was actually surprised she wanted to be my personal maid" Subaru was in fact surprised to see rem offer herself for this position even when she fully understands implications of this position

Petra had a confused expression as she looked towards Subaru "haven't rem spend the night in your room" Petra without missing a beat stated

"She did?" Subaru with tilted head looked at Petra who was not sure what to think right now

"Oh yes i think she did i fallen asleep moment i got back from my chores she mentioned that she's my personal maid now and i just pushed entire thing to today for i was way too tired to deal with it yesterday" Subaru shrugged as he yawned

Petra had a look of understanding in her eyes as she come up close to him with sparkling eyes

"So, you just fallen asleep yesterday yes" Petra asked and Subaru nodded his head firmly

At this little maid run off giggling to herself and with big smile

"Do everyone here think that rem is no longer a virgin or something?" Subaru stated as he sighted having to deal with yet another bullshit

"You know what fuck them" Subaru pointed his middle finger towards mansion as he just doesn't want to deal with that crap and went off to backyard, he then begin playing with spirits Beatrice too soon joined and two spend entire afternoon just messing about and lazing around

"Subaru-sama your carriage is ready to take you to capital for the summon" rem approached from inside the mansion and delivered the news

Subaru nodded his head at this and went toward carriage with Beatrice on his shoulder's rem following him closely behind

"Do you know what's all that crap i been getting all morning is all about" Subaru walking towards carriage asked rem who turned sideways and blushed

"I um... well... i might told lady Emilia a bit too much and she was asking about it so..." rem stated as she was blushing from ear to ear

"You do know we barely talk now days like we used to before well you know" Subaru stated as he looked back to her, and rem sighted

"I did a lot off thinking about ... stuff" rem responded with lowered head

"And?" Subaru with a question mark on his head

"You see well i haven't given up on my revenge against the cult and i can't forgive for what they done" rem muttered under her nose as she was playing with her fingers in cute way

"If you tell me you are sticking around me because of just that i tell your bullshitting me" Subaru responded with deadpan expression

Rem sighted "i just want to be near your side" Rem shouted out as she stopped walking

"There you go some honest answer for once" Subaru turned around and petted her head with warm expression

"But do know there's nothing normal around me and it's really dangerous as well as you be given magical contract that will prevent you from talking about certain thing's that you inevitably end up learning when you are near me a thing's you will not be allowed to speak not even your own sister" Subaru declared as he seen rem taking step back at mention of her sister

"So, sit down and seriously think about it all. This is your last chance at having even remotely normal life because there's nothing normal around me" Subaru petted rem's head one more time and left her standing in shock and bit confusion but that lasted no more then few seconds as she ran back to him

"I understand" rem responded as she continued walking behind him just as before

"It's your wish then that's fine after entire capital bullshit is done with i walk you through it" Subaru sighted as he was not sure how to introduce rem to his fort of mystery, but he figured he get over that bridge when he gets to it

Rem responded with small yes and bright smile on her face as she was practically jumping in joy behind him

Subaru soon got to the carriage and found Emilia already inside rem took the ground dragon rains and 4 went off to capital

"What is up with you in fact" Beatrice looking at Emilia who was fidgeting with red cheeks and was unsure how to look at Subaru as she keeps on glancing at him eventually annoying Beatrice because of it

"Um... Subaru did you um... and rem... last night "Emilia was muttering as she was burning red as her entire face was covered behind her hands

"So, I take you want me and rem sleep together and, in that case, forget you then?" Subaru with neutral expression responded as he looked straight into Emilia's eye's making her to freeze stiff

And Emilia looked at him with confusion and wide-open eyes as a tear begin to gather in her eye

"Before any misunderstanding will take place tell me what it is you think that me and rem did last night?" Subaru with neutral expression and leaning back on the carriage asked Emilia this simple question

Emilia with twitchy arms and broken voice responded "rem s sa said is t that P personal maid is one who taking care of all the needs one might have" Emilia muttering as she looked at him

"Do you expect me not to have sex with her as she is (taking care of me?)" Subaru with deadpan pan expression responded as his eyes begin to lose warmth in them

Emilia shaken her head at this as she looked back still unsure why is he turning so cold towards her

"So, let's see here's a woman i like who literally send another woman to sleep with me, so she doesn't have to. Now how should I interpret that?" Subaru with now cold voice and no warmth left in him responded as he looked at Emilia with his cold eyes

Emilia was opening and closing her mouth as she doesn't like Subaru being this cold but after moments of thinking she realized why is he so cold to her like this

Emilia bitten her lower lip so hard it began to bleed yet Subaru showed no emotion towards her

"This is how I interpret this you don't want to be with me as girlfriend that's all" Subaru responded in his cold voice

"NO not that no..." Emilia shouted as she begins to cry her eyes out in front of him, yet Subaru had no Emotion in his eyes only freezing cold

"Then what is it?" he asked as his voice was neutral

"I don't know" Emilia grabbed her head and squat into a ball

"You keep pushing me away like this and I will leave. Moment you take me for granted is moment you will see me no more" Subaru declared with ice cold voice

Emilia was shaking her head as carriage begin to drop in temperature repeating no no no no no repeatedly

Subaru rolled his eyes and looked at Beatrice who in turn cast E.T.M. and returned carriage to normal temperature

He then leaned his head on his arm and looked straight into her without emotions whatsoever

This continued for but few moments until Subaru got tired of Emilia shaking her head like that

He stood up and slapped her into the face

Then he sat down and keep looking at her with neutral expression "do you need more?" he asked

Emilia with wide eyes shaken her head slowly staring at Subaru in disbelief

"If you are thinking that you can act like kid before me, think again i am not your father and i will not spoil you rotten that right belongs to Meiling not you" Subaru declared as he calmly looked at Emilia

"Now i ask again how i should interpret your behaviour today you kicked me out off your room without a word and yesterday you send another woman to sleep with me please explain your reasoning" Subaru with neutral voice asked as he keep looking at Emilia without emotions

Emilia lowered her head as her entire world was slipping from right under her "i thought you will be happy" she responded with but a whisper

"So, you think you can't make me happy why is that?" Subaru raised his eyebrows as he asked

Emilia wanted to say something that would prove she is incapable to yet any words she would try to say means nothing for him for he knows it all her being half-elf that's not a problem he holds the witch herself in his basement. That she is a dangerous individual that would freeze everything around her no problem he just breaks that ice like joke. Anything she could think that would prove her point was instantly countered by experience she already had with him. Even if Emilia is slow on uptake even, she can see her argument holding nothing of value.

"Well?" Subaru raised his eyebrows as he tilted his head

"I'm scared" Emilia whispered under her nose

"Yea so i am too what about it?" Subaru declared without any hint of irony in his voice

Emilia looked at him with disbelief in her eye's

"You don't understand," Shouted Emilia

"Try me" challenged Subaru as he smirked

"You go and do everything like it's a joke but..." Emilia quieted down as she sat down

And Subaru took a deep sight as his eyes returned from ice cold to neutral

"You are feeling incompetent because i practically do everything all on my own and even when i let you do things like back in sanctuary it feels like I'm just leaving you scraps to do right?" Subaru smirked as he seen Emilia nod her head

"You do know you can kill me with your little finger right" Subaru smirked as he seen eyes of disbelief in Emilia

"My personal combat strength is less of a normal knight and yet i am keeping world class disasters at bay do you know why?" Subaru stated as he looked at Emilia

And Emilia shaken her head

"Because no one else will that's all" Subaru shrugged

"I run into monsters dead at night to fight them off not because i am brave or strong hell no im scared shitless there and yet i go there anyway do you know why?" Subaru smirked as he seen Emilia with unreadable expression

"Because if i don't then who will?" Subaru stated as Emilia with confused expression nodded

"Now if you want to do more then do more don't expect to have stuff handed to you" Subaru stated

This how ever provoked a memory inside Emilia she sworn to herself this haven't she don't expect hand outs and yet

Emilia clutched her own fist for a moment but then she sighted as she let it lose.

And certain fears Emilia had in her mind where just ignored by her

She then looked towards Subaru.

"I'm sorry i don't know what took over me" Emilia responded in more mature way then before.

"Growing up is never easy trust me on that" Subaru giggled just as Emilia keeps looking at him with unreadable expression and tilted head

"What? do you honestly thought that i never fuck up? Hell, I fucked up so many times by now that I'm not sure if stars in the night sky can outnumber my fuck ups" Subaru laughed as he remembered his time in witch cult and how badly he fucked up there and all of that just because he was shy.

Emilia looking at Subaru with uncertain eyes

"Then how did you stopped umm…" Emilia was unsure how to say that without sounding bad

"You live, you learn, you do things, and those things will fail then you look at why it failed and try to do things differently, so you stop failing And eventually you get good at stuff" Subaru sighted as he looked towards Emilia as he was repeating himself again before her.

Even Emilia noticed he is repeating something he already told her but this time however it had bit different effect on half-elf.

"i will not be scared then" declared Emilia as she sat down on his laps and grabbed his hand not letting it go

"Now you starting to act like girlfriend?" Subaru titled his head as he raised his eyebrows

"I'm sorry but I'm bit slow" Emilia had to admit that part about herself

"Can i stay like this for little longer?" She asked as she looked back to him

"If you're my girlfriend yes if not get off" Subaru declared

Emilia chooses to stay on his lap

"So, i take you don't send me other woman because you don't feel confident in yourself?" Subaru asked as he titled his head and Emilia shaken her head without saying a word still holding on to him for dear life

"Now then if you be so kind can you stop freezing everything around you moment you get bit i don't know annoyed or scared" Subaru huffed as he seen Emilia look back at him as she blinked her eyes then he pointed toward Beatrice who lifted E.M.T. and temperature instantly lowered in carriage

Emilia covered her mouth and consented on stopping that she then took a deep breath and sighted

"I thought i will be alone again" Emilia responded as she admitted her own flaws and her biggest fear

"If you keep pushing people away like that you will be Alone, haven't you faced your fear back in sanctuary?" Subaru stated as he looked at Emilia as she was still cautiously fidgeting on his lap

"I um... "Emilia looked towards him as she sat on his lap and with big inhale, she lunged to kiss him

After few moments she let go and looked back at him as she exhaled "I'm not afraid of that I'm..." Emilia lowered her head as she felt a surge of emotion flow through her and with that she responded

"I'm afraid i lose myself inside your embrace" she finally managed to admit what was actually bugging her

Beatrice's now with absolute red cheeks looked at two morons and without saying a word jumped back into her library something that went completely unnoticed by Subaru or Emilia as two where just lost inside one another.

"And that's a problem between you and me how?" Subaru smirked as he keeps looking at her

"I um… i…." Emilia wanted to say something and yet before she could she begin to understand certain actions Subaru do and why is he so persistent on calling her his girlfriend

"So… umm.. do that means girlfriend is one you can lose yourself with?" Emilia with confusion in her voice responded

"Your love partner is one you lose yourself with girlfriend, wife etc. Are all but words with a single meaning behind those two individuals are really close with one another that normally means in romantic manner as well. So, you know this is Love part and lust part are closely linked with one another. when a man and a woman just lose themselves inside one another without much of emotional attachment to one another this is regarded as lust and it's a sin however at same time if you deeply care for individual your lust becomes but a symptom of your love for that individual as result you end up losing yourself inside that individual's embrace or by simply being nearby that individual it's confusing, I know" Subaru sighted as he seen Emilia's eyes widened.

Emilia covered her mouth with her hand as she blinked few times

Subaru continued "Lust and love are but two sides of same coin and it's incredibly difficult to tell the difference between one and another" Subaru shrugged as he sighted

Emilia then blinked and asked "so if I don't feel lust then" she muttered

"Then that means you don't want to start family with that individual for LUST is just that To produce offspring nothing more LOVE is necessary to have in order to bind individuals together into a family for a family without love will brake apart sooner or later" Subaru shrugged as he sighted and had bit off half giggle

Emilia then was staring at him as she found her own hands were wrapping around him

"But but I um… I well just keep wanting to touch you.. so" Emilia no longer fighting off her urges to touch him and let her hands move as they wished

"This is symptom of both lust and love reason why both seemingly intervene with one another" Subaru smirked as he grabbed Emilia ass with his hand and earned Yelp from Emilia.

"Umm…. Emilia, rem?" Subaru with a panic in his voice was looking at one and another rapidly not sure what this is all about

Emilia slowly regaining her strength lifted herself off Subaru and pulled off his pants exposing Subaru's towering lower half standing proudly

"You see Subaru I don't know how to… take care of well your need's properly so rem and I come to agreement" Emilia losing her boldness after looking at Subaru lower half who was almost pulsating in anticipation.

Eva with a big Devil's smile opened her mouth and showed him her tongue as she was giggling at same time she was moving up and down on his hips.

And as she begins to speed up movement of her hips with a moaning voice she declared "Even if I can't force you to become mine you will still belong to me regardless.

there's are not rules in war or in love as you say my beloved" Eva happy moaning as she was draining him yet again and being filled up once more by him.

And just as both reached their own climax yet again this time eva fallen to his chest and Subaru gently hugged her as he kissed her

"It seems someone was learning" Subaru was actually impressed by eva and how fast she is adapting to different methods and yet still staying true to her sin

This earned a mad giggle from the woman who soon covered her face with her hands and begin to roll around the bed in happiness

"Say I been asleep for last 2 hours in real world, yes?" Subaru question her and eva snapped back at him looking bit confused yet she nodded as she was blinking rapidly

"Let me wake up in 4 hours then" Subaru shrugged as he smiled

Eva instantly understood the message behind his words, and she just lunged at him saying I love you over and over again but unlike before her words had a strong emotion behind it and not just robotic speech as before

And so, witch and sage continued their activities for next few days in the room of shadows but as promised he only stayed asleep for but 4 hour's in real wold

Subaru now sluggishly waking up in moving carriage as he noticed he was firmly locked in place preventing him from moving at all

He looked around the carriage and he see slightly dried blood and other white liquids on next seat from where he is at, he then looked at what is keeping him so firmly from moving only to find Emilia locking his movement with her entire body both with her hands and her legs

Yet Subaru could see she was awake even if she looked slightly tired

"Good morning sleepy head" Emilia with a wide smile greeted him

"Any morning is good morning when you are woken up by beautiful angel like you" Subaru seeing Emilia's face from a top off her chest realised he was in fact sleeping on her breasts

And Emilia had Slightly blushing cheeks as she leaned in and kissed him without even thinking she then pulled back with a wide smile just as droplets of his saliva where leaking down her cheek

"This was amazing Subaru" Emilia gently caressed his head in caring and loving manner

Subaru in turn was slightly worried "is your body ok first time is bit.."

Emilia widened her smile "I its… little painful down there at the moment but pain is nothing at all compared to…. That" Emilia still firmly remembers how good it felt to indulge into that activity and was berating herself for not doing it sooner

"It's said that first time is always painful" Subaru snuggled up to her and kissed her on her cheek this earned giggle from Emilia who was practically beaming in joy

She then took few moments to compose herself and told him" um Subaru can I ask for something" Emilia with bit worried voice asked her question

"Hmm….?" Subaru without moving his head off her chest responded

"Can… we.. um… do it again?" Emilia with bit of reluctance and shaking voice declared

Subaru lifted his head up in questioning manner yet before he could say something Emilia rapidly responded and correcting herself

"Not now um… well.. later…" Emilia now blushing mess as she was looking sideways embarrassed out off her mind

Subaru seeing her response giggled he lifted himself off her chest and towered over her

He then given her deep kiss and she too returned it without a word this kiss alone was all Emilia needed to know for her answer

Subaru then fully lifted himself off her and sit down at only few small somewhat clean areas that were left in carriage

"I believe you know what that means yes?" Subaru responded with a smirk and Emilia with a big smile nodded her head she then come closer to him and soon found herself sitting on his laps as she was resting her head on his chest

"I.. think I need to sleep for a moment now can I stay like this for a bit" Emilia not willing to be separated from him wanted to remain in close proximity to him to feel his warmth and listen to his hart beat

Subaru petted her head and responded "of course you can" just as he gently played with her elven ears

Emilia giggled for a bit as she inhales his sent and soon found herself asleep

And so Subaru Emilia and rem continued their journey inside bit messy carriage

As they finally reached the capital and rem got them into local inn Subaru carried sleeping Emilia to her bed inside the in and told her to wait there for a bit as he will go to market to get her new clothes as her old ones where no longer presentable

Originally Subaru wanted to go on his own yet rem insisted on coming with him eventually Subaru sighted and let her come along just as Emilia was sleeping inside inn

Subaru and Rem now inside the market district looking for stuff to buy soon found themselves before massive clothes shop and got everything they needed and with new purchases two where walking back towards Inn

"Say Rem … how are you feeling" Subaru with bit shy voice looked at blue oni who in turn smirked with a wide smile

"I knew you where just pretending" Rem declared without much of a thought, yet she still holds wide smile on her face

"Pretending what?" Subaru with confusion asked

"To be asshole you always act as if nothing is concerning you, yet you worry about everyone and the way you show it is acting like bad guy" Rem giggled as she seen Subaru face morph into that of a shock

Subaru took few moments and then he just exhaled he looked then at rem with raised eyebrow "when did I mess up my act?" Subaru asked as he shaken his head with small laugh

This earned even more giggles from Rem "no bad guy would spare a woman who tried to kill him, and no bad guy would work so hard making sure everything is safe" Rem nodded her head in confirmation

"Can't fool you for long can i?" Subaru sighted as he placed large bags on his shoulders and continued walking down towards inn

"I noticed it first time you tried to kick me out off your room just as you entered mansion" Rem remembered back then at how confused she was at his behaviour but thinking back to it all that made perfect sense to her now

"And what was that?" Subaru looked at rem with raised eyebrow

"You tried to keep me away from yourself because you thought it's not good for me to be near you" rem nodded her head at this

"At first I thought it's due to your stench but then even after that was cleared up you still been like that Even, so you keep glancing towards me as well from time to time" Rem stated as she seen a face of Subaru she never seen before it was a face of nostalgia and sadness yet it only lasted for but a moment but this moment was more then enough for rem to reach her conclusion

"I remind you a lot of that oni you mentioned before" Rem looked at him just as he deflated yet she couldn't care about that right now

"I chosen to become your personal maid not to be her replacement but because I wanted to" Rem declared it as matter of a fact now sounding a lot like her own sister even

Rem then looked towards Subaru with conviction in her eyes "I will Engrave myself into you so much so you will be unable to remember any other oni ever" Rem declared as she run off towards inn leaving Subaru standing still in the street

Subaru with shocked expression looking at rem who was running away muttered to himself "Rem you are someone I can never fully figure out even after so many years living together" Subaru shaken his head and just left main question hanging in air for a moment

And that question was Why do she loves him for?

Subaru then walked back to inn and got Emilia to get into her new clothes who where almost identical to her old ones only difference was flower patterns engraved all over her new clothing and there was no matters logo anywhere on them

However to Subaru surprise Emilia just stripped herself in front off him and went to change into her new clothes without any thought

"Umm.. Emilia you do know I am still here right?" Subaru pointed towards himself as he told her this

And Emilia naturally responded, "yes why?" with tilted head

He then pointed at her naked body and Emilia huffed as she smirked in really similar way he does

"I want you to look at me" Emilia declared as she exposed her naked chest towards him

"When did you got so bold" Subaru responded with a shock

This how ever earned proud childish smile from Emilia as she firmly nodded her head

"If I want to do more, I will do more Right" Emilia walked up to him and given him a kiss to a cheek

Subaru soon found himself standing there rooted to the ground unsure on how to process this new bold Emilia and how did she change so fast? Or was she always like this?

Many questions raged inside Subaru mind as he could not figure out how such a dramatic change could happen in only few moments like this and in mean time Emilia was dressing herself up enjoying this shocked looking Subaru for once it felt she was in control and not him and this made her feel good.

Even if such thoughts where normally crushed by Emilia's kind nature and would not be seen anywhere else but before him and only with him, she would not hide anything be her darker thoughts or desires her selfishness or her body she WANTED him to see Everything there is off her be it good or bad

Because with him she truly feels free.

Emilia dressed up and then looked back at Subaru who was still starring at her with widened eyes she then walked up to him and did what she wanted to do that was place her arms around him in a hug as she leaned in for a kiss who she soon received

After the kiss Emilia pulled back and pointed with her finger at his chest "you will stay with me tonight you hear me mister" Emilia with a tone of similar to a scolding mother declared

Subaru without knowing what to say just nodded his head and Emilia seeing this begin to giggle in joy few moments later she grabbed his hand and pulled him out off the room holding onto his hand never letting go

"I think we should go to this meeting now" Emilia stated as she was dragging shocked Subaru with her hand whose mind was just fried at seeing Emilia act this way and yet he found this to be so beautiful at same time alluring this made him gulp in worry

"Emilia this new… you I think I will need to get used to" Subaru blinking as he started walking with her

And Emilia just giggled she then looked at Subaru with a big smile "Subaru led me astray" she teased him

Subaru wanted to respond back with raised fingers, yet he couldn't for she is right in a way and with that he sighted

"Maybe I did but" Subaru raised his eyes and looked at Emilia

"You look much happier now then you where before" Subaru responded as he seen Emilia practically jumping around right now in joy and full of energy

And with a thug from her two walked down towards the meeting but then suddenly Subaru remembered that there should be one more person here he then focused on his link with Beatrice who soon walked out off her library with pouting expression

"You finally remembered betty in fact" Beatrice was holding her hand to her sides and Subaru with apologetic eyes and in dramatic fashion kneel before Beatrice and with puppy eyes was looking at her

However, this was happening in the middle of a street and everyone was looking at them as result this soon made Beatrice's anger vanish and be replaced by Embarrassment as endless muttering from people around them as well as now pointing fingers at them

Beatrice not knowing what to do just shouted "stupid in fact" and hopped onto his shoulders as she hides her head behind her hands with crimson cheeks

Subaru giggled as he stood up "You finally decided to come out and show yourself to the public with your new wings" Subaru laughed

Yet Beatrice was attracting so much attention to herself that it was overwhelming as her butterfly wings where swaying on the wind and leaving small golden trails where they passed

Emilia pointed at Beatrice with tilted head in questioning manner

"She is shy" Subaru giggled as he picked Beatrice off his shoulders and placed her onto his arms in princess carry manner

Beatrice's was never good in crowded areas and now she naturally attracts crowd to herself because of her wings

This made Subaru lough even more as he told Emilia "you do know she can easily hide her wings but she refuses to do so at same time she don't want too much attention directed at her so this happens" Subaru pointed at Beatrice who's head is now firmly buried inside Subaru's chest and little loli spirit was hitting his side with her fists earning even more laughter from him even Emilia found this interaction to be intensely adorable and could not resist to pet her head in caring manner

After small moment of this Subaru Beatrice and Emilia made their way to castle same one where royal selection was held place

Subaru looked at guard who immediately recognized him and instantly gestured to open the gates as poor guard was giving him utmost respect with shaking voice and letting them in without any further inspections

Emilia blinked as she tugged on Subaru hand with a finger in her mouth "umm Subaru why is guard so…" Emilia asked

"Terrified? Scared? Because right now I am legitimate living legend more less at same time I am in position akin to a king for time being" Subaru shrugged as he giggled

Emilia looked at Subaru for but a moment but then she just shrugged forgetting the matter entirely if he says so that's probably what it is no need to worry about complicated things she is yet to understand for now

Now Subaru party reached main hall and was greeted by every member of royal selection who bring their respective knights with them as well as sages council and small detachment of top nobles of the nation including Roswell

Subaru waved his hand towards felt and crush

felt imminently jumped closer

"is it true Is it true ? You killed white whale?" felt practically jumping around him as she was still disbelieving them rumours

Even rainhard looked at him with unreadable expression

"It was not me who killed it you know" Subaru shrugged

"Without your assistance it would been impossible for us to defeat that beast" Crush declared with pride in her voice

At this small exchange council members created bit of a noise directing attention towards themselves.

"It's a honour for sage himself to make his appearance before us please bless us with your wisdom" one of council member by the name micolov lowered his head in utmost respect and other members had varied degrees of reactions but said nothing

"You humble me with your greeting" Subaru for a moment looked like actual sage but then he dropped that and with slightly annoyed tone said

"Now that crap out the of the way can we get down to business" Subaru with deadpan expression responded

And he soon was joined with felt and Anastasia in agreement

"You haven't called me here for some worthless waste of time you mongrel" Pristella fanning herself stated as she pointed toward sage council

"Sage, dragon candidate's my apologies from council due to such sudden summon but nation is currently facing crisis on horizon" Micolov were wiping his own sweat off his head as rest off the council with wearied response huffed at their own member

"I see 3 crises on horizon at the minimum try to be more specific" Subaru with bored expression looked at council members as he asked his question

However, this made everyone but pristella nervous as they all looked towards Subaru with wide eyes

Subaru seeing gaze from everyone just shrugged "what don't tell me it took you this long to notice?"

Council members how ever where bit unnerved as they asked the sage "More then 1?" they responded

"You honestly still haven't noticed it? I mean it's not like that carp just started yesterday it's in fact was like what? 80 year's 90 year's ish in a making a relic from last demi-human war ask pristella she can explain" Subaru shrugged as he yawned, and everyone looked towards sun princess with questions

Pristella however even if she knew what he was referring to she didn't know anything about calamity on horizon with bit intrigue in her voice she responded "Some old broken doll of a witch was found in my lands and were put down" pristella was fanning herself as she observed everyone shocked mocking them all with her condensing gaze

"It was same Phoenix copy that was made to survive last war simply put in last demi-human war no one actually killed her she was only hidden away" Subaru shrugged as he yawned and looked at now shocked and disbelieving crowd

"But that's impossible" Roswell was first to shout out soon followed by Wilhelm saying same thing

"Wilhelm back then broken doll concluded that her forces will not succeed so she hatched small plan to fake her death and run off that entire mess you got there back then was but carefully crafted plan by her and she had some help from opponent's side for this… however" Subaru shrugged as he yawned

Roswell was now way more furious and even embarrassed to think someone fooled him like that

Yet Wilhelm was overwhelmed by different emotions and way more troubling ones

And Subaru continued "her helper so to speak locked her up in a cage to be displayed as a trophy of sorts I find that to be so hilarious considering who that broken doll was copy off" Subaru laughed as he shaken his head knowing exactly who was behind it all

Wilhelm looked at Subaru with questioning gaze and Subaru meet his eyes with sad glint in them he then nodded "that is indeed involved as well" Subaru responded to unasked questions

Yet council members instantly wanted to know who he is referring to "Sage if you mind who is that you refer to?" they are questioning him, and Subaru shrugged

"You will figure it out later or at least I hope you will for I shall not speak of this matter any further because it's not of immediate concern right now" Subaru yawned with bored expression and council members knew right away that problems they are facing might be way more then anyone realised

However, they had to deal with matter at hand "This Emergency summon is due to growing unrest among population that might bring entire nation to its knees" Micolov responded as he pointed toward crush who in turn nodded and took step forward

"I have seen with my own eyes this "Natsumi Schwartz" she is indeed capable however what is real concerning is what's happening with demi-humans and how fast they are rallying behind her even if she herself is not calling for them" Crush given her report this made Anastasia and Emilia look a bit nervous yet felt and pristella were looking at it as if it's nothing important at all

Pristella instantly voiced her opinion "you can't even put down few fires pathetic insects?" Pristella snorting at incompetence of council

Felt added "they will make my job easier" with a big smile on her face as she seen paling complexion of certain nobility

"Now civil unrest is bad for business why we only finding about it now?" Anastasia stated as she looked at julius

"My lady it's no secret that treatment of demi-humans is not ideal" julius got interrupted by Subaru

"Long story short there a lot of people who are constantly getting bullied by…. Well…. them and now some random individual show up naturally they rally behind that for it's not just demi-humans that are now practically worshiping this natsumi Schwartz" Subaru responded with uncaring expression as he was pointing towards everyone who was noble with his thumb

This how ever got crush look at him with confusion and in questioning manner

"Care to explain I failing to see how normal people be joining her" crush folded her hands as she observed Subaru with suspicion

Subaru in turn looked towards felt "say felt if you still lived in slums and you heard that someone is running around freeing slaves and kicking nobility's ass at same time making knight's look like pathetic morons how would you react?" Subaru smirked as he seen felt eyes begin to shine in joy

"I would say sign me up" Felt without missing a second responded with glee in her voice

"Exactly" Subaru snapping his fingers with a smirk

This made every council member even more nervous and nobility now where practically shitting themselves

Subaru then turned and looked at nobility "so your slaves heem.…. serfs I met to say will see exploit of this natsumi Schwartz as role model and they too soon will attempt to copy her exploit's many different attempts will naturally fail but over time they get good at this and you will be placed in situation where you need to practically spend every penny you have just to keep your… subjects from slicing your throat because there's no unified front and it's but multiple different groups who got drunk on idea that they too can make difference will attempt to make difference for better or worst" Subaru seeing council members as well as knight's and even nobles where losing what little composure they had and started to nervously panic as they all where desperately trying to figure out their way out off this mess

However, pristella just snorted "heh if you can't keep your peasants in line then good riddance" pristella fanning herself in boredom

"And because presents keep fighting you and you keep killing them.

then creating even more resentment towards you forcing you to kill even more off them

soon you find yourself flat broke because there's no peasants who will pay taxes for you and

because you yourself can't plant and grow food resulting in you soon starving to death THE END" Subaru retorted back to pristella with condemning smirk

"This world is made to move in my favour new presents will always replace old ones" pristella rebuke him with distain

"Only real way you could attract more peasants to your side at that point be conquest because no one would willing come to you as you just keep killing everyone and would be seen as an evil dictator or even a witch instead and everyone will just form resistance against you be it small groups or even standing armies from surrounding nations hmm… Volcanica comes to my mind or perhaps this is indeed your goal all along?" Subaru smirked as he keeps looking at pristella with wide grin

And pristella narrowed her eyes in dangerous manner "what are you saying" she dangerously stated

"Bri…. Well, pristella I'm only asking is this your goal all along?" Subaru was about to say different name before he cut himself off this perked pristella to shut up straight away for she knows if she keeps acting the way she normally do she be done for all he needs to do now is state her original birth making her into potential national traitor.

"Hooo…. How interesting But I hold no desire to see volcanica taking over" pristella now pulling back and rapidly fanning herself as she stated that

This unexpected reaction got everyone in the there just look at two with confusion never expecting to see pristella to back down like that

"Natsuki-san is there something you not telling us?" Anastasia instantly jumped at opportunity seeing pristella backing down like that and pristella clicked her tongue to this

"There's a lot I am not telling you naturally including certain fox's origins and her connection to a witch for example" Subaru with bored expression looked straight to Anastasia's eyes who in turn shot open her eyes wide and opened her mouth for but a moment then she reverted to be neutral, emotionless

Yet Priscilla was looking at him with intrigue

"Oh… and what that might be?" Anastasia responded in calm manner

"I wander who that might be but regardless that's just yet another secret I am keeping" Subaru smirked as he was smiling like shark

This however got council members instantly respond, "is there something we should know considering connection with a witch and fox?"

"It so far been deemed harmless for Now so No but do know I am keeping eye on it just in case" Subaru shrugged with a smirk and Anastasia's eyes twitch for she understood that if needs be he can get her in big trouble by exposing her secrets

"Then we shall take your word for it" council responded on that not wanting to deal with another mess one bit.

All candidates where having bit troubled reactions seeing this entire exchange between sage and candidates so far

Crush was confused yet her priorities where on the matter at hand not things said so far

Emilia was completely lost during this entire exchange

Pristella was both intrigued and threatened for she now realized how well is he managing to keep everyone in line as if it's natural for him

Anastasia was both nervous and terrified but at same time felt there's immense opportunity here, so she was highly interested as well

Felt how ever was having troubled reactions at mention of witch "Say is that fox and witch deal is fine?" she needed confirmation

"Yea it's fine it's similar to you and old man rom so nothing to worry about" Subaru shrugged

Felt was about to ask for clarification but got silenced by Subaru as he raised his hand "Don't this matter is not for me to speak of" Subaru responded as he was shaking his head

Felt confused yet she did heed his words as expression on him was dead serious, so she stepped back a bit

As felt stepped back and stopped talking everyone in the room understood one painful detail there are no secrets hidden from him.

"Now then how about we return back to topic?" Subaru asked as he looked back at few council members who were sweating profusely as they began to slightly shake especially one specific member.

"A y yes sage we heard you took po position of a knight f for lady Emilia and placed Eleanor Forest under sages' direct protection" council member by the name of Bordeaux questioned

(Author notes: last time I was writing chapter that had council members in them I completely forgotten his name and insisted named him with wrong name that was micalov only council member that I vaguely remember eventually I will fix that but so you know rasist council member name is. Bordeaux hopefully I remember it next time )

Subaru widened his smile "ahhh finally you asking question you really want to know answers for…" Subaru giggled and Emilia instantly perked up focusing her full attention to this

This how ever made crush look at Subaru with questioning gaze "care to explain?" crush asked him

"Long story short his real concern is that he will not have me or dragon at his disposal once demi-human war nr 2 starts that's why" Subaru shrugged as he smirked

"Care to Elaborate sage" Bordeaux responded instantly

"By placing forest of Elves under direct protection of the Sage as well as serving as knight for one of royal candidates who is demi-human herself, I will naturally be fighting for demi-humans if it comes to war or so that's how you interpreted my actions right?" Subaru smirked as he looked at the council man who was now sweating even more

"And a conflict where let's see sword saint on one side and sage on another this will naturally lead to nations collapse as a hole right?" Subaru widened his smile as he seen man nod his head

"This will be the case if AND ONLY if it comes to war Nr2 that I guarantee" Subaru took a deep breath

"But sage" micalov wanted to say something yet Subaru raised his hand gesturing him to stay silent for a moment

"First and foremost, I am currently in position akin to king temporary as it might be but that's my current position, correct?" Subaru question them with raised eyebrow and council members slowly nodded their heads

This got All candidates but Emilia look at him with new light and with wearied emotions

"So in order to have peaceful transition of power regardless who wins this election I am forced to deal with few issues that might hinder this process correct?" Subaru question them and sages council slowly nodded

"So here we have 5 candidate's 4 of whom Are sympathetic towards demi-humans and 5th one just don't care about it at all so when they do get elected there's large probability that there will be at least 2 separate uprisings that will bring conflict to the nation one from demi-humans a situation that's been going on for long time and other from losing candidates supporters example Be Pristella gets elected and people who follow felt will naturally go ballistic about it" Subaru just shrugged

Council members took a moment to contemplate but could agree with his logic

"So in order to minimise potential problems for peaceful transition of power what I need to do?" Subaru asked them this question

Council members looked at one another and then back at Subaru "you need to deal with at least one problem now" micolov responded with a nod

"And what is best way to eliminate potential uprisings?" Subaru smirked as he looked towards Pristella who in turn huffed

"Weed them out" She responded like it's a matter of a fact

"Incorrect. felt perhaps you can answer it?" Subaru the looked away from angry Pristella and towards felt who was confused and shaken her head he then looked at crush who too was unable to come up with answer

He then looked at Anastasia who responded "Remove their will to fight" she stated even if it sounded far fetched to her that is only answer she could reach

"At least some one here knows how to deal with things without bloodshed" Subaru clapped his hands congratulating Anastasia for correct answer

Pristella scuffed at this "if you think you can do that without bloodshed your delusional" she without hint of irony responded

"If you think that bloodshed is the only way then your retarded" Subaru without missing a second rebuked her and pristella was practically burning in hatred

"If you remove main reason why they take up arms to fight what reason do they have to fight for? A sport? Entertainment? I'm sorry to brake to you but not everywhere is like that island you are so familiar with" Subaru with deadpan expression looking at pristella as if she just a joke to him

Even if pristella wanted to deny it he is giving her valid counter argument

"Oh, and how would you do this o dear omnipotent sage" Pristella now in mocking voice she question him

"Simple get royal guard protect land that belongs to demi-humans and get all 5 off you to agree on new low that prevents any mistreatment towards anyone regardless of their birth each and everyone will have right to attain what they fight for regardless of who they are be it human or demi-human.

this low effectively reduces possibility of demi-humans war nr 2 to near 0% and significantly reduces chances of commoner uprising in post-election And after election is over you then can revoke this low if you want" Subaru shrugged as he told his proposal

This however was greeted with mixed emotions for Emilia this is exactly what she is fighting for be it in different words but still it is what she is trying to achieve

Felt was all for it too as she interpreted this in a way that enables slum dwellers to become noble if they perform well enough

Crush was bit concerned yet she was slightly against the idea because what will happen to nobility then?

Pristella however was loving it to no end for it presents a chance for her to demonstrate it to all how superior she is to everyone

Anastasia too was loving the idea as it is exactly what she been doing all her life from a day she was born it's only fair everyone should have this right

"When it comes to gates at best one can heal them using healing arts that's all it's impossible to heal them using normal methods for gate itself is impossible to physically touch it, I however have certain tricks that let's me touch gate directly and enabling me into modifying it or even repairing it in a way magic could never do for magic only regrow damaged parts not move or change gates form" Subaru was sitting on the chair all relaxed

Anastasia covering her mouth "to touch the gate directly" she understood exactly what he said for she felt something entering her body and was moving around it eventually touching a part of her and moving it a little even if at first, she felt extremely repulsed by sensation but now is feeling grateful for it

"But gate itself is extremely fragile and it's really easy to damage so this is best I can do at this moment if you want to have fully fixed condition you would need to go through extensive rehabilitation period that takes about 2 years or so or about 2 months with extremely skilled healer" Subaru shrugged

Anastasia gulped and looked at Subaru "how much would that cost me" she stated already feeling like her current capital would not be enough to pay for this treatment that only he can perform something so extremely invaluable

"that's well depends if you become a queen I think dragon will be pestering me to no end to ensure you live long life after all having leader that dies only few years after selection is over be annoying for him because there's no descendants yet and you have no partner to start family with yet so he would make it so that I must give you more time to live OR try to influence me into making sure you end up with someone in between your legs so you might produce offspring and he will be really annoying about it too" Subaru sighted with tired expression

"Can't dragon just use his blood for this?" Anastasia stated slightly unnerved

"Dragon's blood will not work because dragons blood heals and repairs damage or even restore things to original state in your case it's deformities a deformity that developed naturally is what making you suffer so heal it as much as you want it will do nothing" Subaru shrugged

"And what do you mean by someone in between my legs exactly?" Anastasia now looked at him sideways with her guard up

"King need hairs to ensure kingdom will survive it is a duty of royal family to produce offspring whatever they like it or not because hairs to nation is what keeps nation stable and now here comes new king who is sick and will die soon and this king have no hair to the throne Dragons solution to the problem will be simple either you get someone to put a baby into you or he find someone for you ignoring your opinion on the matter completely and just toss random fella in-between your legs and call it a day" Subaru sighted

Anastasia widened her eyes and almost bulging them out at this revelation

"Divine dragon would do something like that?" Anastasia reluctantly asked

Subaru naturally responded "he is a cynical bastard by human standards, and he is more then happy to do things we humans would find repulsive" Subaru sighted as this is one thing he really don't like about dragon.

Anastasia gulped as she too was not so happy about this

"Other then that find me in good mood and offer something of value that I value then yea no problem" Subaru smirked as he seen her looking at him with confusion

"Something of value that you value?" Anastasia confused but still asked

Subaru then summoned his hat and pulled out a massive bag of gold and placed it on table

"Gold holds little to no value to me for this is but a small, pocked change for me at this point in time so if you want to give me a trade you must offer me something of value that cannot be gold" Subaru now feeling more like greedy witch then himself but could not help but felling amused at sheer confusion on Anastasia's face

Anastasia opening and closing her mouth at the bag off gold that he so casually pulled out and dropped on table like dead weight

She then looked at him "what do you want then?" she asked fully willing to do almost everything for a promise of longer life and less painful existence

"That will be for you to figure out" Subaru responded only to see Anastasia's mouth drop to the table with ehhhhh…

"What do you honestly thought it be that easy?" Subaru laughed at this notion

Anastasia recovering a little bit took a deep breath and composed herself

"I suppose it would not be that easy, but I must say there's nothing that I know of you to offer anything of substantial value" Anastasia stated

"Well, aren't you one of best merchants there is in karragi? And I believe you know what needs to be done in order to facilitate a trade?" Subaru with wide Smile noted

Anastasia keeps looking at him for a moment she then sighted

"What an enigma of a person you are Natsuki Subaru" Anastasia honestly stated

"All sages where enigmatic I merely keeping up with a tradition" Subaru laughed at this notion

Anastasia relaxed back on her chair completely exhausted mentally yet this exhaustion was making her feel strangely relaxed and perhaps for a first time in her life it made her feel content even if it's just for a moment

"What an interesting opponent" Anastasia not hiding her own thoughts inside her head just burping out words without thinking

Subaru seeing that his conversion is reaching its end looked at scarf dona and begins to tap the table with his finger

This behaviour made artificial spirit instantly recognized meaning behind his actions, so she responded

"For answering my questions and giving me knowledge of my origins, a reward must be given to you State anything you desire and if it's in my power I will get it done" fox spirit responded identical to echidona this perked Anastasia's eyes up for she never actually seen her act like this

"Even if I detest your original to no end, I must admit that you at least inherited some of her redeeming qualities" Subaru nodded his head

"I don't like being compared to this witch" scarf dona responded

"Well, you speak like her you call yourself by same name as her and you even act like her do you honestly think you will not be compared to her?" Subaru with amusement stated

Fox dona just sat down on table not knowing how to respond to this

"Well then just don't do things that earned her name of a witch and you be fine" Subaru shrugged

This revelation made fox spirit and Anastasia look up to him with confusion

"Earned her name of a witch?" Anastasia asked

"Witches where originally normal everyday people they were made or later become a witch due to few certain conditions that made it so however this information is way out off your league right now so I will say nothing further" Subaru sighted with sad smile and slightly annoyed feeling as he was not willing to bother explaining her what authority is, witch factors and other mental crap that needs to be done to make a witch into a witch

Anastasia opening and closing her mouth "Witches where originally normal people? That's insane" she responded in disbelief

"The stories and all other thing you know about witches only tells you small portions of what they are exactly at best your knowledge of witches be less then 5% more or less resulting in you being completely wrong about a lot of things about them but there's are things you're not wrong about too that in beings known as a witches are indeed dangerous" Subaru huffed at this notion

Anastasia just staring at him with completely blank expression and just blinking her eyes as her brain just fried

Subaru stood up from the table and stretched his arms

He then looked at Anastasia with a big smile on his face "now I expect to see reward for all the answers given to you delivered to me soon I wander what you pick as my reward" Subaru laughed as he walked out off the room without saying anything more

Scarf dona sat there for a moment looking at closed doors where Subaru left and then it struck her as she grabbed her head in shout "I am in his depth now" in despair as she has no idea what she need to do to rectify this and being in depth is something she instinctively knew that she must avoid above all else

She then blinked few times and thought to herself (why I am so reluctant to be in his depth for?)

This left Anastasia's and scarf dona wander about what just happened as Anastasia needed to process a lot of information and scarf dona needed to figure out why is he making her feel so restless all the sudden

And as Subaru left merchant and her spirit confused, he then went back to the party only to find smug queen Beatrice herself asserting dominance over everyone in there only person who haven't been defeated by Beatrice was pristella who just haven't played yet and only observing

Subaru observing Beatrice's play instantly recognized why she was so dominant there for it was not exactly she who was playing it was A-I she was using thanks to smart phone attached to her wins and this A-I was able to defeat even world class chest players like nothing simple beginners stood no chance regardless how smart they where

Yet Subaru keep quiet about this for now only petting Beatrice head with a warm smile stating

"Yep, you're my adorable little spirit alright"

He giggled and Beatrice was looking at him with red cheeks and cute pout

"Beatrice is just unbeatable at this" Emilia stated fully accepting her defeat at the game

Beatrice naturally had a proud puffed out chest at this

"Subaru could you join as well, you should be good at this too, right?" Emilia innocently requested

"I will not play against world class A-I thanks" Subaru refused only to notice Beatrice to perk up a little who looked at him sideways with narrowed eyes

"You don't play this good you honestly think I would not notice" Subaru laughed

This made AL have understanding gaze with ohhhhh

Pristella looked at AL and stated "what is it you clown spit it out" she demanded

Al just sighted "it's next to impossible for normal humans to defeat her if she is using that but Bro I see no computer here how is she?" AL responded pointing at Beatrice

"She is my spirit it's natural she will not play fair as for computer well she is using smart phone that's it" Subaru shrugged as he giggled

Beatrice's hit his sides with cute anger being exposed like this yet even if she was exposed no one really knew what was up and AL was not talking about it

Pristella too understood why her instincts were telling her not to play for she couldn't possibly win, and her luck would not help in this at all

However, Emilia instantly responded "so Beatrice is cheating? That's not good" half-elf innocently declared

And Subaru just laughed at her

He then pointed toward himself

"You do know who she is contracted to right? And besides she is not Exactly cheating as smart phone is part of her now" Subaru shrugged still half laughing

However, Emilia could not let it go that easy and with angry pout she stated "but then why it sounded like she is cheating?"

"Let's say your elven strength is a cheat and you beat me up in a fight with it then that makes you a cheater?" Subaru raised his eyebrow and looked at Emilia

Who just blinked multiple times unable to respond to that

"If that's where the case then everyone who have excessive mana pool or divine protection are cheaters as well for there's others who don't? Beatrice's is fused with a smart phone making it part of her in a way you can say she haves' artificial divine protection of sorts" Subaru shrugged as he huffed at now retreating half-elf

However, this perked everyone up as they all looked towards the boy even if only select few knows what smart phone and a mention of artificial divine protection perked them all up

First one to speak was julius "my apologies sage but something like that is just" he cut himself off not wanting to finish it

Subaru lifted his eyebrows at him "divine protections give you powers that do not originate from you regardless of what they might be right?" Subaru responded and seeing julius nod his head

"Smart phone that is fused to Beatrice also don't originate from her and yet she can use it at will same as divine protection even if process itself is absolutely different results are near identical and I have no other words to describe it so calling it artificial divine protection is as closest as I can get to describing what's going on with her" Subaru smirked at absolute chaos that's been unleashed around table

As Rainhard and crush where in pure disbelief checking if their divine protection actually working for that sounded like lie

However, Emilia just took that as yet another thing Subaru do if he said he can make divine protections at will she will believe him for stuff she seen so far around him where just another day in the office at this point

With excitement Felt instantly joined and looked at Subaru "can you make me one as well please" she requested and Subaru shaken his head

"Sorry this thing right now is still in early development and components needed to make it are impossible to get them locally and importing this needed key materials are not simple manner on top off the only reason Beatrice's can use this in a way she does is because she is a spirit that's it" Subaru shrugged crushing felts Hope's at beating rainhard at something

Felix was practically trembling at the notion of artificial divine protection however Reinhard had to comment about it

"To create artificial Divine protection just like that is Unheard off" he in awe stated

"Well description of artificial Divine protection is Extremely misleading but its closest word I can use that you be able to understand I mean if I told you, it's nothing but mana-based implant the meaning be lost on you" Subaru sighted at notion on how difficult it is to actually explain things to them

Al immediately understood what he said and had to clarify something "bro Did you just put smart phone inside her? And how?" he pointed towards Beatrice

"I got my hands on phone disassembled it atom by atom and then put it back together identically as it was before but instead of using normal matter I used mana for it then reinstall software that I got from internet and with few tests and adjustments towards user interface end up with that and because her body is made of mana it was simple matter to fuse two together that's all" Subaru shrugged at that as he was explaining method he used at this AL had understanding Ohhh ok that could work reaction

However, everyone but Al and Beatrice who heard him speak where completely lost as he was talking gibberish to them

He then looked at them with and just sighted
"its difficult to explain things in a way you people would understand" he had tired expression at this

This notion was greeted by understanding gazes from everyone but Pristella for she was furious yet again however she could not say anything about it for she was completely clueless about it

"But enough about boring topic how about we get to play another game this time cards" Subaru smirked and pulled out deck of cards he then explained how to play with them and soon everyone where playing with cards

this went on for next few hours eventually everyone called quits and went back to tier respective places for rest
however as royal candidates where returning to their homes there was some one watching them all and planning to make their move soon.

But that's a story for another time

(Author notes: I rewritten this chapter like 8 times by now trying my bloody best to not make this into harem but bloody hell Subaru, rem and Emilia are just unable to be separated without breaking someone's hart and mind be it Emilia, Subaru, or Rem because if I get rid of rem she will enter state similar to suicide victim's same as Subaru in cannon was, I get rid of Emilia and well that's just pointless Emilia will lose her mind and just collapse frozen or lose her will to live and if Subaru makes even one off two girls sad well he be returning straight into his self loathing state and mostly will kill himself few times before he get's locked into his room of shadows till he gets better as per sattelas contract and that would take years even with speed up time in there he be out off action for a long time.

I honestly can't think of a way to separate either of them without breaking them completely as result I'm writhing harem story bullshit and to be completely honest I'm not really happy about it but then again having jealous two girls having bit of a cold war between one another might be fun to write although that's still unclear at this point as relationship between Subaru, Emilia and Rem was never really too important for me from Plot perspective it's just a thing that happens as story itself moves forward

Long story short I have a bit of a road map for story itself but relationship between them 3 characters was but a small foot note but hell i was wrong about that it's bit more then a foot note it's a hell a lot more complicated.

Then Eva's situation? Do you honestly think that Eva's actions especially naughty ones where just for sake of making love with her beloved? Hah think again reason she is so dam obsessed with it is not just pleasure but also possibly that she can outperform all others as result he will stay with her or at least that's what she thinks.

Now Eva is actually starting to adapt some of behaviour from Emilia especially broken versions of Emilia like ones from wrath if or greed if as result she will still be highly unstable but also will be able of normal speech and can hold conversation for about minute before she reverts back to well…. EVA

Now I originally wanted to Flash out Rems situation even more in this chapter but….. as I end up rewriting it so many times, I decided to drop it to another chapter for later as this chapter already drained my dam mind for it was excessively annoying to write about something I don't approve myself and that's being HAREM I f hate that shit and yet here we go….

Entire harem BS is something I honestly cant really avoid at this point it must be due to how teppei written them characters its typical in manga to be honest

Examples be: Rem have single minded obsessive and extremely focused mind set moment she sets her mind on something she will not stop till she dies. That's basically what happening in cannon where she got her name eaten as well as arc 7 as in arc 7 she concluded that Subaru is a "danger" and must get away and in entire arc she acts indifferent to him even if he legitimately saved her sorry ass more then once in less than a week's time all because she found louis cute and innocent and end up focusing on her

Another example be: Emilia have actually really possessive personality traits as well as she gets really weird if you don't pay attention to her for some time and I'm not talking about arc 4 even in other arcs you can see her developing this dependant personality even if her condition was not too bad and was still manageable but she do displays those traits even in arc 6 (wen Subaru got into tower first time and was out cold for few days Emilia was sitting next to him during the entire time and after he woken up and got assaulted by Shaula Emilia begin attacking Subaru out of Jealousy? And remember Emilia in cannon wont admits she is in love with Subaru, yet she acts like that and That be one off few examples of her troubling personality traits

As for Subaru…. Not much to say we all know about his self-hatred issues even if he suffers from them no more it doesn't mean said problems magically disappeared he can still be easily casted into that mind set again if something major happens to one of people he deems important and it can't be fixed so yea I'm stuck writing a fucking harem nice … ;/
