This chapter will cover Sara travelling to Icathia and will introduce a new champion, so hope everyone's excited.

Chapter 49- Grandmaster at Arms

Runeterra, Shurima Continent

Sara's ass started to be numb from riding for almost two weeks.

She rode across the Shurima Continent, travelling the land of the city-state once known as Icathia.

The further she traveled across the land, the darker the sky grew.

"What the hell?" she muttered.

Sara continued riding across the land. The desert slowly gave way to a rocky landscape.

"I need to stop for the night." Sara thought to herself.

Sara sat at a campfire, deep in thought. Taking out her necklace, she opened it to see a picture of herself and her sister Laurel.

"I miss you, sis." Sara whispered sadly. It had been 6 years since she ended up on Runeterra.

"I miss home." Sara said, feeling homesick. She loved Runeterra, she had made some truly amazing friends, like Xin Zhao, Ahri, Lee Sin, Taric, Udyr, Viktor, Seraphine, Jayce, Nasus and Pantheon, but she missed home.

She silently wondered how Tony, Superman, Laurel, her mom Dinah, dad Quentin, Oliver, Steve, Barry and the others were.

"They must think I'm dead." Sara said, feeling a terrible guilt.

Inside her mind, she silently vowed to return home, no matter the cost.

Sara stared into the fire, watching the orange flames dance.

Sara's ears twitched on hearing something in the distance.

"What the hell?"

She looked up and her eyes widened in shock. A dozen fiery comets streaked through the night sky, illuminating it with fire.

Insert 'Arrival to Earth' by Steve Jablonsky here

Sara sprinted up a nearby hill, watching the comets sail into the distance.

"Where are they going?" she wondered.

"To the distant lands beyond the sea." The Aspect of the Wanderer whispered inside her mind.

"Which is exactly where I need to go." Sara nodded.

"Not yet. And believe me, the thing inside the comet…you are far better off not knowing what it is."

Its voice faded, and Sara shook her head. Gods were morons. But she felt slight dread, wondering what was so bad even the Aspect was terrified.

Sara strolled back to the campfire, sitting down and tossing another broken log into the fire, adding to its fuel.

"I need to reach Icathia."

"Be careful, Sara," the Aspect warned. "Icathia is home to powerful Void monsters that slaughtered thousands of Shuriman Ascended. They are not to be messed with."

"Don't worry, I got this." Sara chuckled.

The next day

Sara had sent her horse back to Shurima, deciding to head out on foot. It would take slower, but the horse wouldn't be terrified and accidentally kill her.

Sara looked across the landscape that was slowly becoming rocky.

"And here we go." She sighed, walking forward.

The sky grew darker, heavy clouds looking read to burst at any moment.

Sara walked across the landscape, being careful to avoid slipping.

Sara walked towards a great canyon ahead on the horizon.

"That must be where I need to go." She mused.

She walked slowly, her feet growing tired.

Finally, she reached a pathway. Taking a deep breath, she began walking forward.

As she did, someone stepped into her path and Sara stopped in her tracks.

It was a tall being, at least 6 almost 7 feet tall. It wore purple robes and had a mask with six glowing eyes.

The most peculiar feature about it was the three purple fingers on each hand. It carried an 18th century style lamppost burning with golden fire.

"You're not moving past." The being said in a cocky tone.

"Who the hell are you?" Sara raised an eyebrow.

"Call me Jax." He replied.

A cold wind blew over, blowing Sara's hair back slightly.

"I want to get past." She said.

"Yeah, not going to happen, girl." Jax shrugged, twirling his lamppost.

"I'm not going to ask again." Sara growled, clenching her fists.

"Don't care. You wanna get past; you'll have to face me first." Jax countered.

"Fine. So you feel like a bloody nose today. I do need a stretch."

Sara drew her sword and cracked her neck. She'd show this three fingered guy.

Jax eyed the blonde woman curiously. She got into a stance with the blade facing towards him.

And she looked like she knew how to use it. Jax approved.

"Nice blade." He complimented, getting into a stance of his own.

Without warning, Sara rushed towards him. Jax casually blocked with his own weapon, twirling it to deflect her strikes.

Sara slashed and Jax leapt back to avoid.

"Fancy moves. Doubt that'll help, but whatever." He shrugged.

Sara growled, jumping to attack. Jax blocked and struck in a spin motion. Sara barely threw herself to the ground to avoid.

Rolling away, Sara picked up her sword and lunged forward. Jax parried with his lamppost.

Sara threw her blade into the air and spin kicked, which Jax avoided. Catching her blade on return, Sara sliced.

Jax backed to avoid it.

"Nice."

"You done talking?" Sara growled. She sliced but Jax parried and twisted his lamppost, striking her in the head with the butt of it.

Sara hit the ground hard, groaning in pain. Her head throbbed from the shear pain she was feeling.

She tried to get up but fell down again.

Jax walked to a nearby rock and reached into his robes, pulling out an egg. Tapping it on the rock, he slowly peeled the shell of the hard-boiled egg.

Jax lifted his mask and bit into the egg. Some blood dripped from Sara's mouth as she took deep breaths.

'Get up. Get up and fight, damn it!' her mind urged.

Sara punched the ground angrily. She picked up her sword and used it to steady herself.

Using all of her might, Sara pushed herself and staggered up, wobbling slightly.

"You're still standing," Jax commented. "Not bad. Most people I've fought only lasted one round before they either died or passed out from exhaustion."

"I'm not most people." Sara spat out some blood.

"That remains to be seen." Jax shrugged. He pulled his mask down again and picked up his lamppost.

This time, the two circled each other slowly, analyzing each other's weaknesses.

Sara charged forward, feinting with her left and spinning to slice.

Jax blocked and shoved her backwards. As she staggered, he hit with his lamppost, striking her feet and sending her down.

Sara got back up and lunged. Jax parried and struck but this time, Sara dodged.

She did a cartwheel and kicked Jax in the face. His face whipped slightly, but beyond that, he was unaffected.

"First person in decades to actually land a hit on me. Now that's impressive."

Jax jumped and slammed his fist into Sara's face, cannoning her from her feet.

She hit the ground hard, groaning in pain. Her body was on fire. This hurt worse than when she battled Pantheon and even Camphor.

Rolling, Sara flipped up. She leapt and tired to spin kick but Jax ducked. Hitting the ground, she tried to sweep his legs but he jumped back to avoid.

Not stopping, Sara tried to spin kick him, but Jax blocked that and shoved her backwards. Sara barely recovered in time.

This time, Jax rushed forward, ready to hit her. Sara jumped onto a rock and spun in the air, trying to kick him.

Like before, Jax easily avoided.

Sara then tried to spin kick and punch as Jax dodged both, then blocked two more punches and then punched Sara back.

Jax then blocked another punch while Sara backed to avoid one from him, then kicked Jax who blocked as well.

Jax then tried to hit in a spin motion as Sara ducked to avoid and Jax tried to kick as Sara blocked before ducking to avoid a spin kick, and tried to kick as Jax blocked.

"Normal warriors would be dead right now." He mused.

"I'm not a normal fighter." Sara countered. She lunged, but Jax blocked with his lamppost.

He ripped the sword out of her hand and kicked her back. Sara crashed against a rock, the wind knocked out of her lungs.

"Nice little toy." He mocked, throwing it away.

Sara wiped some blood from her mouth and stood up.

Jax ducked to avoid a punch before backhanding Sara in the face and grabbing her head, kneed her abdomen before pushing her off and punching her in the face.

Sara spin kicked Jax right in the face before leaping to avoid a swing of the lamppost. Jax picked Sara up by the throat and slammed her to the ground, shattering it as she groaned.

Sara tried to kick but Jax easily deflected it and did a spin motion, elbowing her in the face.

CRACK!

Blood gushed from her nose as Sara staggered back, grunting in pain. Ignoring it, she charged.

The two deflected each other's punches once more. Sara was punched twice in the abdomen, and then she tried to punch, but was unable to land even a single hit.

Jax ducked to avoid another punch before backhanding Sara in the face and grabbing her head, kneed her in the abdomen before pushing her off and punching her face.

Sara kicked as Jax deflected and flipped Sara to the other side. She grunted in pain as hit the ground.

He tried to lift Sara up but she wrapped her legs around Jax's neck. She tried to elbow, but he blocked and threw her to the ground.

She grunted in pain again, feeling much weaker.

"Finally, a decent fight." He smirked.

Jax tried to punch Sara a few times who backed to avoid, and she lifted her foot to avoid a strike from the lamppost too, before barely avoiding another strike that would have otherwise hit her in the face.

"Imagine if I had a real weapon!" Jax taunted.

"You talk too much." Sara rolled her eyes. She did a flip and tried to kick him but he blocked and knocked her to the ground.

As Sara got up, Jax slammed the lamppost into her abdomen. It felt as though she had been hit by a train.

All the air instantly left her lungs. Sara collapsed to her knees, coughing.

Jax stood back, letting her recover herself.

"Feel free to stop at any point." He shrugged.

"One thing you should know about me," Sara looked up at him. "I never give up."

Jax let out a hearty laugh at that. "Oh that's good."

Sara jumped and threw an uppercut towards him. He caught her fist and twisted it. Sara yelled in pain.

He drew his fist back and smashed it into Sara's face. She catapulted through the air and hit the ground hard.

Jax wiped his hands clean, staring at Sara without any emotion.

Sara slowly stood up, her body willing her to stay down. But she refused. She would not give up.

Sara pushed herself to her feet and staggered around slightly.

"Is that really…all you've got?" she slurred.

Jax looked at her, impressed. Not many people would continue fighting.

Sara charged and leapt, trying to kick him. She hit the ground and spin kicked him but he avoided.

Jax struck her with his lamppost, flattening her. Sara rolled back and did a spin kick, hitting Jax in the face.

She tried to punch but Jax deflected and gave her an uppercut, knocking her back again.

Sara did a leg sweep but Jax raised his leg and then blocked another kick with his arm. Grabbing her leg, he swung her, slamming her against a rock.

Sara hit it hard, gasping in pain. Jax kneed her in the face, rattling her jaw. Picking her up, Jax punched her twice in the abdomen, blows raining like thunder.

Sara fell down, coughing in pain. Some blood spilt from her mouth. Some of her teeth felt loose.

Sara jumped up and slammed her elbow into his head. He staggered back from the blow, growling in anger.

Sara tried to stagger up, but fell down again.

Jax let out a bellow of laughter.

"Not bad, blondie. You're tougher than you look."

He walked towards Sara and held out his hand. She looked at him for a few moments before accepting it and was hauled up.

"What's your name, kiddo?" he asked kindly.

"…Sara. Sara Lance." The blonde woman replied, out of breath.

"Sit down, you're badly hurt." He sad.

"Now you're helping me?" Sara asked, looking at him funny.

"I was merely testing your strength, to see if you are a strong warrior." Jax explained. Sara sat down, her head pounding. Any minute, now she'd faint.

The world began turning and Sara passed out.

Later

Sara groggily awoke, her head pounding like there were a thousand Dwarves hitting her brain with hammers.

"Oh hey, you're awake."

Sara turned over to see Jax sitting at a campfire, staring into the orange flames.

"How long have I been out for?" Sara groaned.

"About a day and a half." Jax shrugged nonchalantly.

"Why did you not kill me?" Sara asked, struggling to sit up.

"You are a strong warrior. I respect that."

"Are you…from Icathia?" Sara asked slowly. She wasn't sure.

"Yes…I am." Jax replied.

"Woah!" Sara commented, her eyes widening. According to Soraka, Icathia was destroyed around 3500 years ago. How was Jax still alive?

"The Void destroyed my home," Jax explained. "I am now seeking out capable warriors to stand against the Void with me."

"Have you found anyone?" Sara asked curiously.

"None have convinced me that they are ready. Until you." Jax said.

"Me?" her eyes widened in shock.

"You look like you can handle yourself in a fight." Jax chuckled.

"Where are you going?" Sara asked.

"I was passing through here on my way to the coast," Jax said. "I am going to a distant continent beyond the sea."

"Continent?" Sara asked, shocked.

"As it turns out, there are lands to East of East, where night is quiet and sleep is rest," Jax told her. "I am going to see if there is anyone strong enough to fight the Void."

"I'm also going there," Sara said, surprised. "I'm looking for someone who can help me."

"Really?" Jax commented. He grinned. "You wanna tag along?"

Sara looked down in thought. Jax seemed like a strong fighter. And he had honor. Perhaps they could help each other after all.

"Yes I do." Sara replied.

"Awesome," Jax shrugged. "Just have to figure out how we're going to get there."

"What do you mean?" Sara asked.

"There is something preventing anyone from entering the Continent, except for a specific part of the sea. I met someone named Ryze who told me about that. Other wise men have called it a place where the bombs burst in open air and gave proof through the night." Jax explained.

"Huh, guess we have to," Sara mused. "Do you know anything about this place?"

"Not a single thing." He shook his head. "From what I know, the ancestors of the people living there sailed here and settled in the lands that would later become Shurima, Ixtal, Icathia, Buhru, the Blessed Isles and Camavor."

"Damn." Sara commented.

"Yeah, I don't know anything about it." Jax said.

"Well, we can do this." Sara shrugged.

"Yes we can. We set off tomorrow." Jax said.

"All right."

Jax stood up and held out his hand. Sara clasped arms with him and the two looked at each other.

"We shall be dangerous." Jax declared.

And done too.

So another champion has appeared and it's Jax aka Grandmaster at Arms.

Jax is my number 1 faviroute champion in the entire lore. His stories are absolutely amazing, and if you don't want to miss out on a really good story, you need to read Jax's lore. He is an essential read.

Jax has never lost a single 1v1 battle, so it makes sense he would beat the lights out of Sara.

So now for the biggest part of this chapter- yes, there is another Continent way beyond the lands and regions we know of in the lore.

This is completely my own creation. The lore has only briefly mentioned it, and like only twice. And no, this new Continent is not Camavor.

So I decided to include it as a way to push the lore of Runeterra forward. And Sara and Jax will travel there.

And there will be my own champions on that continent too, and they are my own creations.

The Continent will be the center location of the next arc, which will be quite long. And every single character and location you see there is entirely my own creation too.

Now not sure when I will post again, but in case I don't post tomorrow, Happy New Year everyone! That would make this the last chapter of 2021.

Hope everyone enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
