Chapter 50- A whole new Continent
Runeterra, Ocean
Sara and Jax calmly sat on a small boat as Jax rowed it across the endless ocean. It had been a few days since they had left the Shurima Continent, and now they were sailing.
"Do you know where we're going?" Sara asked.
"Hopefully," Jax replied. "I just need to find the right spot so we don't crash into the barrier surrounding it like I did the last time."
"Wonderful." Sara murmured to herself.
Jax rowed the boat. The waves began churning harder and Sara looked around.
"Let's go," Jax said. "The last time I was too slow I was almost killed by a powerful beast that called itself Ildagar."
Sara looked at Jax with worry. He spoke of this creature as if he was almost afraid.
"Well, let's hope we don't." Sara shrugged, looking around.
Some dolphins leapt through the waves. Sara laughed happily, having not seen dolphins in 6 years.
"Oh I missed dolphins!" she smiled.
The waves churned heavily and Jax straightened up.
"What is it?" Sara asked, concerned.
"We're approaching the opening, but it only lasts for a few minutes. If we wanna get through, we need to go now!"
Jax began rowing like there was no tomorrow, scooping the water vigorously with his oars. Sara steadied herself.
"Almost there!" he urged. He rowed harder. Something slammed into the boat, cracking the wood though it held in place, thanks to Jax's magic.
"What's going on?!" Sara shouted.
"The barrier is closing!" Jax replied, rowing harder.
Jax stopped rowing, sighing in relief. His shoulders slumped.
"We're past it." He said.
"Yeah, I can see." Sara muttered, staring at the snapped boat. "Hey, how are we still afloat?"
"I have no idea." Jax admitted.
"Oh, nice." Sara shook her head.
"It'll be at least another day till we reach mainland. Hopefully, I've never been here before." Jax said.
"Okay. This is new." Sara commented.
"You and me both." Jax chuckled.
Sara slowly looked around at the clear blue sky. She was now in a whole new land, that neither she nor Jax had ever been too.
"I see land." Jax called out.
Sara looked ahead to see the shores of a beach in the distance.
"Yes finally!" she grinned. "I think I'm about to throw up, I've been on this boat for too long."
"You're funny, blondie." Jax chuckled.
"Don't call me blondie again." Sara glared at him.
"All right." The Grandmaster at Arms raised his hands.
The boat drifted towards the shore, a sandy beach. A huge cliff overlooked the sea. The boat landed.
Sara climbed out first, wobbling slightly.
"I think I might puke again." She groaned.
Jax put a hand on her shoulder to stabilize her.
"Easy, kiddo, take it easy now." He said.
Sara looked up and him and nodded, feeling slightly better.
"Well, a whole new land." Jax said, chuckling.
"Where do we go?" Sara asked.
"I have no idea," Jax admitted. "Let's just see if we can find a city and go from there."
"You better know what you're doing." Sara grumbled under her breath. She picked up her sword and strapped it to her hip.
Jax took his lamppost and twirled it, the golden flames burning within. With that, the two began walking down the beach, leaving the boat behind.
"Hang on." Jax said. He grabbed Sara by the back of the neck. Buckling his knees, he leapt into the air, landing on the top of the cliff.
"Nice trick." Sara offered him a small smile.
"No problem." Jax shrugged.
Sara looked forward to see a massive grassy plain ahead, stretching endlessly.
"Guess we have to go on foot." She sighed.
"Well, do you see horses?" Jax retorted.
"No!" Sara snapped, glaring at him. "And I don't need your sarcasm."
The two began walking down the grassy plain. The sky was blue, and some birds flew in the air.
"The road goes ever on and on." Jax lamented.
"And we must follow, if we can." Sara agreed.
"Over grass and snow. And under mountains in the Moon." Jax said.
Sara looked around at the grassy plain that reminded her of Demacia. She considered Ionia to be her second home, because of how long she had been there.
"So, Sara, you from Demacia?" Jax asked.
"Yeah, I am." Sara lied. Everyone seemed to believe she was Demacian, so it worked. She made a mental note to never say that in the presence of Noxians.
"Mmmm, and what about the Multiverse, eh?" he continued.
Sara froze in her tracks.
"Wait, what?" she asked.
"I figured you might've been from another world." He shrugged.
"You know about the Multiverse?"
"Wouldn't exactly be the first time," he said. "I've been to another world before. Encountered a Hell God named Glorificus. Fucking beat the shit out of her."
"Really?" Sara raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, she didn't stand a chance," Jax shook his head in amusement. "To be fair, I have slaughtered Shuriman Ascended, so beating Glory wasn't too much of an issue."
"You killed Ascended?" Sara asked, her eyes widening in shock.
"Yeah, a month before Icathia fell." He said, his voice turning hard and distant.
"Sorry." Sara winced, realizing she had touched upon a sensitive subject.
"Don't worry about it," Jax waved her off. "I am recruiting powerful and worthy warriors to help stand against the might of the Void."
"And you haven't found anyone worthy yet." Sara noted.
"None until you." Jax smirked at her.
Sara blushed. There was something flattering about being called worthy and it made her heart flutter.
"Well, let's keep going," he said. "Hopefully there's some civilization close by."
"I hope so too, unless it's just wilderness." Sara agreed.
"In which case we just traveled for a month to be here, and it was all for nothing." Jax growled.
"I hope not." She sighed.
Sara and Jax had left the plains behind, seeing more land ahead of them. Some mountains stood in the distance.
"And more endless land." Sara chuckled.
"Yeah, I've gotten used to it…mostly." Jax said.
"Agreed." Sara said, the landscape stretching out endlessly.
"We finally found a city." Sara remarked. She looked up to see a massive tower at the center of a large city.
Walls protected the outer rims. Sara could see houses and guard towers everywhere.
"Let's go." Jax said.
"You sure about that? You have three fingers." Sara pointed out.
"Well, we don't know anything about them. So who knows?" Jax countered.
"Fair enough."
The two walked towards the city. Two guards were stationed outside, though the gates were open.
"Are you here on business, or pleasure?" one guard asked in a slightly French accent.
"Pleasure." Sara replied.
The guards exchanged looks and nodded, gesturing for the pair to enter the city.
"Thanks." Jax nodded and he and Sara walked into the city. It was huge and bustling, people going about their everyday lives.
"Huh, it's like Demacia in a way." Sara mused.
"Yeah, been there." He smirked.
Some people looked at the two, their prying eyes drawn to Jax. And Sara couldn't blame them.
Jax did look strange, with his six glowing eyes and three purple fingers. She had a suspicion that he had been mutated by the Void, which was why he looked like this. But she wasn't sure.
"Is he an Orc?" some person whispered.
"Nah, Orcs are either green or brown. He's purple." Another replied in a low tone.
"Maybe he's a distant relative of them."
"Pah, Orcs are vile beasts. Savages."
"True, no honor amongst Orcs."
Sara looked at them curiously. What were Orcs? The Orcs she knew of were the huge beasts from World of Warcraft. So Orcs existed here too? Or were they different?
Jax heard them, but chose to ignore them. Their opinions didn't matter to him.
Sara saw some apples on a fruit stand. Her stomach rumbled at the thought of food. She blushed in embarrassment when Jax looked at her.
"I'll get you something, kiddo." He chuckled, shaking his head, walking off to the fruit stand.
Sara looked around as some pigeons flew around. It seemed peaceful. A tall palace stood in the far distance.
"It's bigger than I initially thought." Sara mused to herself.
Moments later, Jax returned with a couple of apples, looking a little disgruntled.
"The hell happened?" Sara frowned on seeing his look.
"Stand keeper refused to give me apples, kept calling Orc scum," Jax grunted. "Whatever the hell an Orc is supposed to be."
Sara opened her mouth to say something, and then closed it half a second later. Trying to explain Orcs to Jax would be like trying to explain nuclear physics to a hamster.
The two walked down a cobble-stone street, entering a plaza. Some trees blew in the calm breeze.
"Halt!"
Both turned to see soldiers dressed in silver armor walk up to them. They carried a banner of a single star with them.
"Orcs are not allowed in these parts! Go back to wherever you came from." The lead soldier, a young man about 30 snarled.
"Not an Orc, pal." Jax shrugged.
"I doubt that, monster." He replied.
"Monster?" Jax asked mockingly, laughing. "I can show you lot monsters, though I doubt any of you would survive long enough to tell the tale."
"Enough talk!" the soldier growled, drawing a long silver blade. "You will leave this kingdom right now!"
"Make me." Jax challenged. Sara looked at the Icathian warrior with wide eyes.
"Relax, kiddo, I got this." He shrugged.
"Guys, let's not fight." Sara said.
"They want a fight, I'll give 'em one." Jax smirked.
The soldier stepped forward, holding his sword out in front of him.
Jax drew his lamppost and twirled it, getting into stance of his own.
"For Fayhaven!" the soldier roared, charging.
Jax casually deflected his strikes and knocked him back. People had gathered to watch the fight.
"You know what, I'll make it easy for you; I'll keep one hand behind my back. Sound good?" Jax taunted.
The soldier swung wildly and Jax blocked, not looking even slightly bothered. The soldier did a reverse slash but Jax knocked him backwards.
Jax swayed to deflect one blow, then ducked a second strike and parried the third.
He spun inside the swordsman's guard and hammered his elbow against the side of his helmet.
The metal buckled and the man went down on one knee with a grunt of pain. Jax stood back, waiting for him to recover himself.
Sara smirked. They made their beds, they could sleep in it.
The swordsman recovered himself and struck again, but Jax deflected and whacked him with his lamppost, sending him sprawling to the ground.
"So uncivilized." He grunted.
People gasped and ohhed at seeing that. Jax smirked at them all.
"ENOUGH!"
Sara unfolded her arms and stood up. The crowd parted and two people stepped forward. A man and a woman.
The man looked middle-aged, around 35. He had long silver hair that stretched down to his shoulders and stubble on his chin.
He wore dark red and grey robes. An emblem of a skull was on his belt buckle. His cloak blew in the wind.
His fingers were parking with purple magic.
The woman was dark-skinned and was garbed in white pants with knee how copper colored boots. She wore a red blouse.
A pair of long silver colored daggers were strapped to her hips. She wore silver armor on her shoulders.
Unlike the man, she had a kind expression on her face. Sara could see remembered pain in her eyes.
"We travel to this city for one day, and someone decides to pick a fight." The man said.
"Bonjouer." The woman greeted. Sara's eyes widened. Was that…French?
"Orc, I suggest you leave." The man warned.
"Who are you two?" Sara interrupted before things could escalate.
"I am Arianna." The woman replied, looking at Sara curiously.
"And I am Asodemus, champion of Fayhaven." The man growled, his eyes glowing.
"Name's Jax." The Grandmaster at Arms said cockily.
"That's an interesting name for an Orc." Arianna admitted, leaning against a wall, her arms crossed.
"Still…leave." Asodemus said, growing angry.
"Says who? It's a free country, isn't it?" Jax retorted.
Asodemus' anger flared. "I won't ask again."
"Still don't care." Jax replied.
Asodemus stepped forward, eyes glowing.
"And here we go." Sara and Arianna groaned, looking at each other in surprise.
Asodemus' eye began twitching. In that moment, he looked like a berserker.
Without warning, he fired a powerful bolt of purple magic straight at Jax. The warrior placed his lamppost in the way to block but was sent back.
"Hmmm, not bad." He said.
"Arianna, you deal with the woman!" Asodemus barked. Arianna sighed and nodded.
She smoothly flung a knife towards Sara who barely ducked to avoid it.
Sara drew her sword and blocked some strikes from Arianna. This woman moved faster than anyone Sara had ever fought before, with the exception of Aspects and Demons.
Sara did a flip, but as she landed, Arianna swept her legs. Sara fell down, grunting slightly.
Arianna unsheathed her daggers which glowed with power. Sara dodged a strike and tried to kick, but Arianna dodged, doing a flip.
Nearby, Asodemus unleashed a barrage of lightning at Jax who twirled his lamppost, deflecting the bolts, which sailed through the air.
Jax made his way closer and struck. To his shock, Asodemus caught the lamppost with his bare hand, glaring at him.
"Oh." He muttered.
Asodemus blasted Jax point blank with his magic, sending him crashing to the ground.
Arianna danced around Sara, effortlessly avoiding Sara's strikes and looking none too bothered by it.
Sara struck but Arianna threw herself down and jumped back up, kicking Sara under the chin and rattling her jaw.
"Asodemus! Wen'uyabaleka!" Arianna shouted.
Asodemus fired another blast, snarling in anger. Jax jumped to avoid and landed, swinging his lamppost.
Asodemus ducked under it and kicked Jax with inhuman strength, sending him flying backwards.
Jax landed in time and deflected another bolt from Asodemus.
Arianna casually blocked Sara's kicks. As Sara struck, Arianna blocked with her foot and punched Sara in the gut.
The blonde woman gasped in pain and staggered back. As she struck, Arianna blocked and back-handed Sara, causing her to spit out some blood.
Sara fell down and rolled up. As she did, Arianna jumped on top and grabbed her.
Sara screamed as she was hit by psychic blasts. Arianna gasped as a thousand images flashed through her mind.
Sara standing with Oliver as some criminals faced them in an alley.
Sara smiled and laughed with Dinah and Quentin Lance.
Superman lifted a continent with his bare hands.
Sara and the Justice League faced the army of Thanos.
Sara fought alongside Lee Sin and Udyr at the Hirana Monastery.
Sara screamed in pain as Varus broke her leg.
Irelia and Sara fought Swain together.
Sara battled Cassiopeia and watched as Xerath and Renekton escaped the tomb.
Sara defeated Varus again.
Sara laughed as she talked with Vi, Powder, Mylo and Claggor.
Sara, Jayce, Viktor and Seraphine talked together.
Sara grabbed Vander and kissed him.
Vander lay on the ground, dying as Sara and Vi wept over his body.
Sara and Sivir kissed.
Sara fought Pantheon.
Sara climbed Mount Targon, screaming in agony.
Sara and Soraka talked.
Sara and Jax sailed towards the Continent.
Arianna was brought out of the vision and let of Sara, stumbling slightly.
"What the hell did you do to me?" Sara growled.
"I…I can see anyone's true end the moment I touch them. I saw yours." Arianna breathed out.
Sara's eyes widened in shock. This was new. What was her true end?
"This was a misunderstanding." Arianna shook her head. She walked up to Sara and held out her hand.
After a moment's hesitation, Sara accepted it was hauled up.
"Ms. Lance, are you okay?" Arianna asked in concern.
"I feel like someone hit me with a hammer." Sara groaned.
"Sorry about that," Arianna apologized. "I can send out psychic bursts. Handy trick."
They were interrupted by a crash and turned to see Asodemus had been knocked by Jax who charged in, whirling his lamppost.
Sara was about to move forward but Arianna put a hand on her shoulder and shook her head.
"Why not?" Sara frowned.
"This is the Mak'gora," Arianna said. "It means duel of honor."
"Oh, so that's what it is." Sara realized.
Asodemus teleported behind Jax and blasted him. Jax went flying but flipped and landed.
Asodemus charged, firing blasts that Jax deflected. Getting in close range, Asodemus slammed his fist into Jax's face.
"Holy shit!" Sara's eyes widened.
Asodemus kicked Jax twice and then head-butted him too. Jax staggered back, shocked that someone was actually beating him back.
Asodemus did a jump and kicked Jax in the chest.
"Not bad." He chuckled. Jax threw his head up and smashed the crown of his head into Asodemus' face.
While he was dazed, Jax grabbed him by the throat and pulled him into a brutal head-butt.
Asodemus fell down to one knee, grunting in pain. His hands glowed and he fired powerful lightning that ripped through the ground, striking Jax dead center.
Jax was thrown to the ground, grunting. Asodemus raised his hand and summoned lightning which hit Jax, causing him to writhe in pain on the ground.
"He's…actually beating Jax." Sara whispered in shock.
"If you only knew what he was." Arianna chuckled nearby. She leaned against a stone pillar, crossing her arms and watching it in amusement.
Jax got up and whacked Asodemus with his lamppost, making him stagger. Asodemus recovered and kicked Jax hard.
The Grandmaster at Arms staggered back and twirled his lamppost to deflect more attacks.
"I think we need to stop this fight." Sara said.
"No!" Arianna growled. "This is the Mak'gora. We will respect tradition. Let them keep fighting!"
Sara looked at Arianna strangely.
Asodemus leapt and punched Jax hard. He recovered and swung, hitting Asodemus in the side with his lamppost.
Asodemus did a flip and landed, growling.
"Mak'gora!" he growled, firing another lightning blast at Jax who deflected it. Jax charged in, striking with his lamppost.
Asodemus deflected the first strike and then ducked to avoid the second.
As Jax struck, Asodemus did a flip and got behind Jax, kicking him hard.
"He fights like he's not human." Sara noted in surprise.
"That's because he's not human." Arianna chuckled mirthlessly.
"Wait, what?" Sara frowned, looking at the other woman in confusion.
"He can tell you himself." Arianna smirked.
Asodemus got Jax in a chokehold from behind and was now brutally electrocuting him with his magic.
Jax grabbed his arm and threw him to the ground. As Asodemus hit the ground, Jax leapt up and slammed his elbow into the other man's abdomen.
Asodemus coughed up a blue colored blood. Sara's eyes widened.
"Is he…an alien?" Sara thought to herself in shock.
Arianna heard her thoughts and silently smirked.
Asodemus blasted Jax backwards, tearing up the ground. Jax did a flip and landed, slamming his lamppost into Asodemus' abdomen.
Asodemus let out a grunt at that, but beyond that, he wasn't affected much. Jax drew his fist back, but Asodemus caught it.
"Not again." He growled, giving Jax an uppercut.
The Icathian warrior stumbled from the blow and then raised his foot to block another strike.
Asodemus roared and unleashed a powerful blast of magic, his whole body glowing from the shear power.
Jax blocked and was sent back.
Arianna growled.
"Asodemus, enough! I touched Sara here. She's not here to harm anyone." Arianna interrupted.
Asodemus stopped fighting and turned to the dark-skinned woman, his eye twitching slightly.
"And what about him?" he pointed at Jax.
"Not an Orc. Enough fighting." Arianna said coldly.
Asodemus looked disgruntled but Arianna gave him the scariest glare Sara had ever seen.
"Fine." He grumbled.
Jax looked impressed. He readjusted his mask and smirked at Sara.
"You two might wanna come with us." Arianna said to Sara and Jax.
"We don't know what this place is called." Sara pointed out.
Asodemus looked at her as if she was insane. "How do you not know? Are you mentally stupid?"
"You are in a city in the kingdom of Fayhaven," Arianna interrupted. "On the continent of Aea. One of 7."
"7 Continents?" Sara asked, surprised.
"Yes, concealed by Heaven itself." Arianna nodded.
Jax looked a little confused himself.
"We'll explain everything when we reach the capital of Fayhaven." Arianna explained.
"Excuse me? Why are we taking them to the capital?" Asodemus interrupted, annoyed.
"Because I said so! Besides, the Queen will want to meet them," Arianna snarled. "So will Reina. And remember, other kingdoms are meeting with us."
Asodemus looked like he wanted to argue, but Arianna silenced him with a glare.
"All right, we'll go with you." Sara said, trading a look with Jax.
"Yeah." He agreed.
Arianna smiled, and Sara could see healed but remembered pain in her eyes.
"Wonderful."
Asodemus looked around, narrowing his eyes.
"Wagner is coming. The Legendary Dragon." He whispered in horror.
Arianna looked at him in horror, while Sara and Jax looked confused.
"Who?" Sara asked.
"You don't wanna know." Arianna shook her head.
"Let's go back to the capital." Asodemus said, grunting. He pulled his robes, straightening them.
Arianna threw her hair back and smirked at Sara and Jax.
"This is new." Sara admitted.
"Definitely. But let's go, and see what this continent has to offer. A new fantastic point of view." Jax chuckled.
"Agreed." Sara nodded.
She looked around. They were now on a whole new continent, a dazzling place she never knew. She had a feeling this continent, like the rest of Runeterra, would hold unbelievable sights and indescribable feelings.
"Well, we've come so far, we can't go back now." Sara admitted.
"No." Jax sighed.
Arianna looked at the two and nodded.
"Let's go." She said.
Sara and Jax nodded as they joined Arianna and Asodemus.
And this is done.
So the new Continent, called Aea, has been introduced at last. And there are multiple lands.
And the first two OC champions have appeared- Arianna and Asodemus. You will learn more about them in coming chapters.
Like I said at the beginning of the chapter, will be doing castings for all my champions, so you can use those as a reference point when reading.
Arianna will be played by Kat Graham and Asodemus will be played by Daniel Gilles.
Now there's a lot of stuff that will be explained in future chapters, and many more of my champions will appear in this arc too, heroes and villains alike.
Also, there is a reason for why Asodemus was able to match Jax blow for blow and even overpower him at certain points, and that will be revealed soon.
And yes, Jax fought Glory in the past and absolutely destroyed her in a fight.
Next chapter will involve a lot of conversations and explanations, so hope all are excited.
Hope everyone enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter.
