Note: Just a little something I wrote for the Summer of Whump month long event on Tumblr. I won't do the whole event, but I figured it'd be nice to do just 1 prompt. Enjoy!

Hetty had gotten to work early. She noticed that the building felt warmer then usual, so she went to check to see if the AC was working.

And, it wouldn't turn on.

After fiddling with it for a few minutes, she called someone for help.

After inspecting the AC

'Hate to say this Miss Lange, but this thing might need to be replaced.' The guy said.

'And how long would that take?' She asked.

'1 or 2 days, given how large this building is.'

'What?! Do you know how hot it's supposed to be today?! There's a lot of electronic stuff upstairs that needs to stay cool! If that stuff overheats, then how is my team supposed to do their jobs safely and quickly?!'

'I understand how hot it's supposed to be. I'll get my best guys on it and we'll work as fast as we can, but it might take the rest of the day.'

'I'll try to manage.'

Later, Hetty told the team of their situation.

'Not to worry, we will be using almost every fan we have in this building to keep the technology upstairs cool. And I ordered lots of bottled water for the ones who have to work inside. Hopefully, this is only for 1 day.' Hetty said.

'Will you be okay?' Callen asked.

'Rest assured Mr. Callen, I'll be fine! I brought in a fan from home, I'll be okay! Now, let's get to work!'

Things were fine in the morning, but in the afternoon, things started to get really hot.

'How are things going Mr. Beale?' Hetty asked, her big face showed up on the big screen in OPS.

'So far, okay. Just hope it holds. And whoa. Um.' Eric stuttered, because Hetty's bare arms were showing.

'Oh, my arms. Well, it's a bit hot in here, and I'm just trying to stay cool.' She replied.

'Well, that's okay. I mean, we all have our own ways of staying cool and it's okay.'

'I'm not wearing shorts, if that's what you're wondering, Mr. Beale.'

'Oh. That's good to know. Should we end this conversation now before it gets any weirder?' Eric asked.

'Good idea.'

Granger later called to see how she was doing.

'How're you holding up?' He asked.

'Well, I've made 3 bathroom breaks today because of all the water I've been drinking, how are you doing?' She replied.

'Stakeout at the moment, thank goodness for a working car AC!'

'Lucky'. She thought.

'You know, if you're looking for a quick way to cool off, you can always put ice cubes down your shirt or pants.'

Rolling her eyes. 'And that would help how?' She asked.

'I don't know. It'd just be a fun thing to do!'

'Goodbye, Owen!'

Then Eric came down, saying that he was getting really concerned about the possibility of the computers overheating, and that he needed her fan.

At the end of the day, the guys working on the AC said it would be completed the next morning.

Callen went to check on Hetty before going home, saw how tired she looked, and offered to take her home.

'You sure you're okay? You look really tired.' Callen said.

'I've been hot all day, I've been drinking water all day, I made 4 bathroom breaks today, Yeah. I'm pretty tired!' Hetty exclaimed.

'Hmm. I think I'll stay with you tonight. Just to make sure you're okay tomorrow.'

'Whatever.' Hetty thought.

Next day, Hetty woke up with a 101 degree fever.

'Okay. I guess I overheated yesterday.' Hetty said, looking embarrassed.

'I could tell.' Callen responded.

'Anyone else 'overheat'?'

'Thankfully, no.'

'Lucky me.' She grumbled.

'Hey. At least you get to stay in a air conditioned house all day instead of chasing bad guys in mid 80 degree weather!'

Hetty chuckled. 'Welcome to California, baby.'
