This story takes place in the Sonic universe after the events of SA2, the only difference is that all Sonic characters are humanized (since im more comfortable with that), the society in this world is basically animal like people and humans living as equals.

This story is purely romance, there wont be any negative themes covered in this story.

Chapter 1: Unexpected realization

Ever since the events on the space colony ARK, everyone went back to their ways and Rouge had a rather easy life since she still works as a spy for G.U.N and still hunts for treasures which go mostly undetected by her employer.

Yet Rouge still looked for something that no money could buy. Her ultimate goal was to find the most precious thing there is, she has yet to find out that it isn't a SOMETHING rather a SOMEONE.

Rouge sat in her apartment one morning, wearing nothing but a sleeping gown and looking outside her window watching the sunrise.

"Oh boy, if only the knucklehead wouldn't be and his "duty"..." Rouge said with a sigh, she knew that Knuckles wouldn't be stupid enough to let the Master Emerald out of sight after it got once shattered...or maybe he is?

"Hmm, I could try to go for the Chaos Emeralds and maybe get the Master Emerald as an exchange...maybe I even go out with both of them" she chuckled

She had no idea if her plan would work out but she was ready to find out.

Now she had to find out how to locate the Emeralds, she didn't have any intention of working with the egghead again that's for sure. She thought about who else could have the know-how to make another radar for these powerful gems. Then she remembered a boy who fought the egghead on the ARK in a battle mech similar to Eggman's, it was Tails!

"Fufufu, oh yeah that cute fox boy, I almost forgot about him. It wouldn't hurt to ask him..." she said with a light blush. She was thinking about a backup plan, she regularly took what she wanted by force since she was more than capable to knock someone out...but he was just a kid. "Hmm...if all things go wrong ill just let my charms take effect on him"

So it was settled, she would seek out Tails and ask him for a Chaos Emerald tracker...not knowing how drastically her life would change.

Some time passes, the same day in the evening with Tails

Tails was about to stop tinkering on his new invention, and break for lunch. Even though he had his workshop in Mystic Ruins, he never really put a stop to either his work or studies. His mind was always filled with different ideas, his curiosity never sated. For that was just his nature. He was very humble, upbeat, and was willing to help both his friends and those around him. Personally, though he just felt... lonely. The only constants (in a loose sense) were Sonic, who was like a big brother to him, and Knuckles (who was only there occasionally).

Hearing the knock, Tails put down his tools and opened the door to see who it was. No one visited him so he was curious as to who had come. His curiosity turned to shock when he saw who was at the door.

"Rogue... what are you doing here!?"

Tails wasn't sure what to think since the last time he saw her was on the space colony ARK, he also wasn't sure what her motivation could be to seek him out so he had his guard up for now.

"Oh my, did I startle you? You weren't so nervous when you fought Eggman on the ARK you know."

"Well it's just that- I mean why are you-"

"fufufu, calm down. I'm not here as an enemy, I promise."

Tails calmed down a bit and thought about the situation, there wasn't anything that Rouge could have wanted from him since he didn't have any "treasures" that she could be after...but what else could she possibly want?

"Oh...im sorry, I just wasn't expecting to see you of all people. Well Uhm, would you like to come inside?"

"Yeah, id love to sweetie"

Rouge's comment made Tails blush a bit, he was glad about any kind of compliments even if they were so small like this one.

As Rouge came in she immediately noticed all the books on the shelves and many devices which she only could guess their purposes of.

'Wow, looks like he isn't just doing it just to show off. His parents must be proud of him' a rather surprising thought coming from Rouge.

They were talking for a few minutes where both were explaining their motivations during the events of from a few months ago, while they where talking Tails couldn't stop himself from blushing when he looked at Rouge, admittedly her outfit didn't leave much to the imagination tightly hugging her curves and showing a big portion of her cleavage. Rouge did notice his accidental stares but she wasn't mad at him. Rouge did know that she had an effect on men but she did feel a bit sorry for Tails.

'Oh gosh he is so nervous, he must be so confused...' Rouge thought to herself while she saw Tails' cheeks turn pink again. He was just a teenager who didn't know what was going on with him

After a good time of chatting Rouge revealed the reason for seeking Tails out: "I need to find the Chaos Emeralds for G.U.N (lie) and I wanted to ask if you could help me out if Eggman could make one I'm sure that you are more than capable of making one as well." She finished her sentence with a wink.

Tails began to blush again and stammered "W-Wait, what exactly do they need the Emeralds for?"

"To keep them out of the wrong hands silly"

Rouge did feel bad for lying to him...which is weird since she does it all the time, but this time it was different. She couldn't explain it either.

Tails did find it a bit sketchy but remembered that he made a better version not to long ago, he would just give her the older model and track the Emeralds with the new one to see if what she says is true, he isn't easily trusting like a certain Echidna... "Alright...I do have one lying around still, when you are done could you bring it back to me please?"

"Fufufu, yeah don't worry"

Tails went up and started to look through his shelves and drawers to look for the radar. While doing so, Rouge looked at the time and realized that it has gotten pretty late.

"Oh my, it's so late already. When are your mom and dad going to come home?"

Tails froze in place after Rouge asked this question, he looked sadly to the ground and his ears sank as well "They uhm...they are not coming back..."

Rouge looked questioning in Tails' direction and had to process what he said, then she turned away and spotted a few pictures on a shelf with one of them being a condolences frame. In it was a black and white picture of 2 Fox people who had both only one tail but still shared clear similarities with Tails... then it all clicked inside her mind.

"Oh gosh..." she said while covering her mouth with one hand. She looked back to Tails who still had a saddened expression, she couldn't see him like this any longer and stood up and walked towards him.

Standing now next to Tails she said: "I'm so sorry, I didn't know..."

"It's ok...you couldn't know-" before he could finish Rouge came down a bit and pulled him into a hug with his face landing directly in between her breasts. He panicked for a second but not because he was scared, he was just confused but soon realized what was going on.

It was rare for Tails to get this kind of attention from someone and he ended up enjoying every second of it. Her warm and soft body, her scent, her petting his head, all of that caused his heart to beat a few ticks faster and his tails to wiggle in excitement.

"You must have been so lonely..." Rouge said in a comforting voice.

She couldn't understand what has gotten into her, one second before her mind said 'I want these emeralds no matter what' but that thought was replaced with 'I want to be there for this boy...'

It all seemed to like her maternal instincts were taking over…

Authors note:

I know its an unlikely couple but thats the exciting part about it

Please dont bash me for making Tails' parents deceased, its the only real big change I made since there wasnt any proper information about them. (not in the games at least, I know they where shown in the comic). It does open the possibility for a wholesome scenario though so trust me and see where this goes.

The next chapter is going to contain mature content and this chapter serves as a buildup for it, please let me know what you think and what I could improve.
