Chapter 1

Adventure Awaits

In a world where danger lies around every corner, where treasure awaits to be plundered, where ancient secrets sleep beneath our feet, adventurers are called into action. With their amazing abilities, they help shape the world into what we know. And now, a new adventurer is about emerge. The world shall soon know the name of the cute, awesome, totally not scuffed slime girl, Leaflit Mitsuha!

"Leaf, are you being talking to yourself in the mirror again?"

I hear my mom shout from downstairs. Embarrassed, I sit in silence.

"Why don't you come down. You can tell me how you are the cute, awesome, totally not scuffed-"

"WAAAHH!"

I hastily rush down the stairs in hopes that my mom would stop teasing me. Things like this happen all the time. I do something super embarrassing, and somehow, as if she somehow has some sort of sixth sense, she catches me every time. It makes me wonder why I do such things. But I can't help it. Being dramatic is really fun. Adventure and excitement are what I live for. And today, I finally get to be an adventurer. How could I not be excited? I reach the kitchen where my mom is cooking.

"Good morning Leaf." She greets me with a warm smile.

"Good morning mommy." I say begrudgingly, still embarrassed from earlier.

"So, my little slime is finally going to be an adventurer. What do you plan to do?"

Without hesitation, I shout "I'm gonna go explore the world!"

"That so? Well maybe on your journey, you can use that arm of yours."

I look at her confused. "What do you mean"

"You know, since you have the dark flame dragon contained in-"

"WAAAHH!" I hold my head in embarrassment. That was ages ago, why does she keep bringing it up! She bumps a boxed lunch against my cheek.

"Well, be sure to stop by the guild to get registered first."

I take the meal, looking away from her. "T-thanks mommy..."

"But are you sure you're ready for this? Being an adventurer isn't easy."

I regain my confidence. "Of course. After all, I'm-"

"The super cute, super awesome-"

"ALRIGHT, IM GOING!" Every time. Oyo.

"Be sure to take Loki's old sword."

As I get ready to leave, I pick up the sword sitting next to the front door. It belongs to my brother, Loki. He got it as a gift from his friends who wanted him to adventure with them. But he didn't really care for adventuring. Instead, he went on to become a botanist. He doesn't see those friends anymore, but he still holds on to the sword. I never asked him why. Maybe he just like the sword itself, even if he doesn't use it. In which case, I best be sure to take care of it. I head out the door. The sun smiles upon my blue body, and thus, began my journey to Northi, where the main guild is located. There is a path straight there from my hometown, Mothergreen. Usually, when traveling such distances, people take the caravan escorted by adventurers to ensure a safe trip. But since I am gonna be an adventurer myself, I'll be fine. I say it's about 3 or 4 hours walking distance from here. This will give me a chance to have a taste of what's to come. I make my way north.

I walk for about 2 and a half hours without too much hassle. I am determined to reach Northi as soon as possible. I am actually surprised I didn't meet much resistance. I take a look around at the great plains that surround the path. The place actually seems pretty...empty. A couple of wild animals like birds and rabbits, but that's it. No monsters, no adventurers, nothing really interesting. It makes me wonder why we need escorts in the first place. The path seems pretty safe. As I scan the area looking for anything remotely interesting, my excitement begins to fade. Is this what it's like to be an adventurer? And just like that, I can feel the fatigue take hold.

"Alright, I think I'll take a rest."

I find a decent sized rock sitting on the side of the path. I take a seat and let out a big sigh of relief. I vastly overestimated how fun the trip would be. I've done nothing but walk this whole time, and I'm pretty tired. Also, I'm super hungry. It was then I remembered the lunch my mom gave me. It's still pretty early, but I'm hungry now. I'll just have to buy something in Northi once I'm there. I open up the box and find some leftover wagyu from dinner last night. I immediately perk up. Meat is my favorite food, and I will gladly eat it for any meal. I take out my fork.

"Itadakimasu"

I raise the wagyu to my face, admiring how it glistens in the sunlight. I open my mouth to take a big bite, but in that moment, the ground begins to shake, and the food falls to the ground.

"NOOOO!"

I lament over the food that should have been in my belly rather than on the floor. What a waste. I hear rumbling behind me. I peer over my shoulder to see the rock I was sitting on this whole time begin to move.

"Oyo!"

I fall on my butt, surprised by what is transpiring. It appears to be golem, and a very, very small one at that. Upon realizing what was in front of me, my excitement was reignited, even if I was still a little tired. Finally, something awesome! And so, the fight begins!

I try to unseath the sword on my back. Is it me or does it feel heavier than it did earlier? This is my first time using it, but I didn't think it would weigh this much. It makes me wonder how I was able to pick it up at all earlier. The golem just stands there watching. Perhaps it is amused watching me struggle. I manage to unseath it, but it just falls to the ground. I try my best to lift it up to get a proper stance.

"Ok, I hope you're ready, because here I come!"

I lift the sword to take a big swing at the golem, but instead, the sword pulls me backwards, causing me to fall, and the sword penetrates the ground. I struggle, trying every which way to get the sword unstuck, but I realize that it wasn't going to happen anytime soon. I look at the golem with a scared look.

"Hehe, please don't hurt me..."

The golem then begins to chase me up and down the path. It's actually faster than you would expect a hunk of rock to be. Either that or I'm just slow. Probably the former.

"WAAHHH! SOMBODY HEEEEELP!"

I kept running for dear life until I accidentally tripped on who knows what. I turn around towards the golem, but it's not there. I look left and right. Nothing. I get a hunch to look up and as I do, the golem falls right onto my face. I lay flat on the ground as the golem begins walking away. I'm way too tired to move. This could be the end of me. To think, done in on my first day. I close my eyes and accept my fate. But as a do, a huge shadow eclipses me. I open my eyes to see a very tall figure standing above me, but I can't make out what they look like. Is that god? I close my eyes once again and pass out.
