Tarzan had just taken Jane, Professor Porter, and Clayton to the gorilla nesting grounds.
"What is that?" said Terk noticing something in Professor Porter's ear. She snatched the hearing aids and ran up a tree, then placed them into her own ears.
"Give that back right now!" demanded Professor Porter after he and Jane had gotten to the tree Terk sat in.
"Hey! I can hear you!" said Terk in astonishment.
Terk was not about to give up the device that allowed her to hear humans who weren't Tarzan.
"Get a load of this," she said handing them to the skinnier of her gorilla buddies, who, after trying them on, handed them to the fatter gorilla.
"Whoa..." he said.
"Pretty cool, huh?" said Terk.
"What?" he replied. All he could hear coming out of Terk's mouth was "ooh"s, "eeh"s, and "ah"s.
Terk was not bothered by the downside of not being able to hear other gorillas. She thought about how she would benefit from being able to hear what the humans are saying. She could take them off whenever she needed to hear what another gorilla was saying. She took the hearing aids back and got ready to listen whatever Jane was now trying to tell her.
