Chapter 1: Party On, Geoff

Geoff and Gwen stared at the plate in Chris's hands, a single marshmallow on it. A marshmallow that meant the difference between making top 5 or losing out on 100,000 dollars. While Chris let the dramatic silence play out, they allowed their minds to think about the day's events.

Until that afternoon, Gwen had never really liked Geoff. Sure, he was a nice guy, but he was too cheerful for her. She dealt with him when Bridgette was around, but with her gone she barely gave him a passing glance. But when they were forced to work together for the day's challenge, she had gained some respect for him, even considering him a friend. She was actually looking forward to her first party! But now that one of them was going home, she couldn't help but feel guilty, like there was something she could've done to keep them safe.

Geoff was never one to sweat the small stuff. His whole life had just been one big party, and he didn't have a worry in the world. But looking at his new friend sitting next to him, he couldn't help but feel guilty for their position. He and Gwen were just starting to get to know each other, it'd suck for it to end now.

"I'm left with just one marshmallow tonight. And either Gwen or Geoff is about to go home."

At last, Gwen couldn't take it anymore. It was clear what the decision would be, best to save herself some dignity.

"Its cool. I had a good time. I'll just be going now."

Chris quirked an eyebrow. While he'd seen a lot of reactions to getting the boot, he'd never seen anyone just stand up and accept defeat.

"You sure you want to do that? 100,000 dollars is a lot of money. If you leave now, you can't come back. EVER. I mean it this time."

"Meh. In case you haven't noticed, I'm not exactly Miss Popular. Best to just save myself the humiliation."

Chris shrugged, not really caring either way as he tossed the Marshmallow to Geoff.

"Alright, your call. Geoff, you got lucky. Gwen here just saved your butt."

Gwen was halfway out of the campsite when she realized what Chris had just said.

"What? You guys voted for Geoff? But he's the nicest guy in the world."

Duncan scoffed. "Yeah, bingo sister."

Owen shrugged, having voted for Geoff because everyone else was. "As if Heather could defeat nice."

Heather rolled her eyes. She wasn't aiming to get rid of Gwen, but whatever. "The power of nice is huge! We weren't too worried about you in that department, Gwen."

Leshawna just shrugged. "Don't look at me. I voted for Heather."

"Well Gwen, Dock of Shame awaits."

Sighing, Gwen walked away. It was fun while it lasted. Had some laughs, made some friends, typical summer camp stuff. She wondered if anyone from the show lived near her.

She was halfway to the Boat of Losers when she heard someone running up behind her. Turning, she saw Geoff coming up behind.

"Gwen, wait!"

"Geoff? What are you doing here?"

"Well, I came to say goodbye. Besides, wouldn't be fair if I didn't say thanks for saving my behind out there. But why-"

"-Did I throw the game? Meh, I got tired of all the drama. Between Heather's scheming and Owen's farts, I'm just done."

"Oh. You still coming to that party after the show?"

Gwen smiled. Of course he remembered.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world. Oh wait, that reminds me!"

Digging through her pockets, she dug out...

"My camera!"

"I felt bad for how I'd treated you, so I went and fished it out. There might still be some lake Wawanakwa water in it."

"Sweet! Thanks, Gwen! What do you say, one more picture for the road?"

Gwen shrugged, smiling.

"Ah, what the hey. Why not!"

Geoff pulled her in and snapped off a quick one. Once it was developed, he handed it.

"Here, you can keep it. One last memento for the road."

"I'll take it. See ya, Geoff."

Geoff waved until the Boat of Losers was out of sight. Smiling, Gwen sat down and looked at it. The picture was typical, just the two of them. But in the lower right hand corner, there was a tiny little fish.
