A Dark Prophecy:
"What has brought you here Sybil?" Dumbledore asked.
"I have received a prophecy from the spirits," Sybil answered. "It is to do with You-Know-Who,"
Dumbledore darkened. "What is it? Tell me everything,"
The two sat down. Sybil pulled out her crystal ball and concentrated her mind. Dumbledore remained quiet. It took a few seconds before Sybil to drift off into the spirit world inside the ball of glass.
She suddenly gasped.
"Sybil! What do you see?" Dumbledore asked. "Come on! Come on! Tell me what you see!"
"I sense…" Sybil took a few seconds before she answered again. "Two children…twins…fighting each other. One has been raised in darkness. The other, in light. They have both been born at the end of July. Try one twin will make the other see through. But far away the other drifts. But both are needed to stop this ultimate darkness. The fate of our world lies in their hands,"
There was a sudden whoosh. Sybil collapsed on her knees, breathing as if she was in labour. Dumbledore fell to her side. "It's okay! It's okay Sybil! Breathe! Sybil breathe!"
Sybil calmed down. But still she remained tired.
Minerva McGonagall burst into the room and wheezed seeing the prognosticator. "What has happened Albus?"
"Sybil…has just received a vision. A vision of the dark Lord's downfall," Dumbledore said.
The two sat privately at a desk.
"So, you're saying…that the fate of the wizarding world rests in the hands of twins? One who is dark, and one who is good?"
"Yes. As much as I don't want it to be true Minerva…it will come to pass,"
"There must still be a way to prevent it,"
"We can only try Minvera. But we cannot do it without bringing consequences,"
"And she said that they're destined to be born at the end of July?"
Dumbledore nodded. "If You-Know-Who heard of this, he will hunt down these twin's parents and kill them,"
"Then we must learn of who these parents are – quickly. They will be in grave danger,"
(Three months later)
James Potter was waiting patiently in the waiting room of the hospital. His wife Lily Potter was getting another ultrasound. Hopefully they would find out which gender their baby would be. They were so excited to becoming parents.
A cheerful lady emerged from behind the door. He laughed and rushed to her, kissing her. "How did it go?"
"It went wonderfully. And we're not having one baby. We're having two!" Lily squealed for joy. To prove it, she held up the ultrasound pictures to her husband. "Look!"
James took a picture and saw that there were two babies that were growing inside his wife's womb. He was thrilled. He laughed and he kissed her loudly. They sprinted over to Grimaud Place, never stopping as they were too excited to tell the rest of their allies and friends.
The first people they told were James's closest friends Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. They cheered for joy and laughed. So did the rest of the Order of the Phoenix. When Dumbledore heard he was both excited but fearful for them. When James and Lily noticed how uneasy he was when he learnt the news, he told them to cover of his room to discuss the matter.
"I believe that your twins are the ones destined to destroy You-Know-Who, but are also destined to fight one another. It is only six more months until the end of July so it is most certain that your children are the ones.
James and Lily were shocked. Lily clutched her baby bump with a protective hand.
"No! That can't be true!" James shook his head in horror. "Sybil must have got it wrong,"
A regretful Dumbledore shook his head slowly. "She is never wrong. You-Know-Who may have or might soon learn of this prophecy. You must leave and hide somewhere he will never find you, somewhere for your children to be safe,"
"No! We will not leave the Order," Lily stubbornly refused to allow her friends to fight the Dark Lord without them.
"You don't have a choice," Dumbledore stated. "If you want your children to live, you must go,"
"I hate to say this Lily…" James started. "But Albus is right. Think of the baby. It would break our hearts seeing them fight one another…and I would never forgive myself if I failed to protect the three of you,"
Lily could say nothing in objection. It was her duty as a mother to protect her twins.
The news that Lily and James would have to go into hiding did not go out well for everyone. They were all shocked to hear the news. They wanted the future Potter parents to stay. But they had to keep their children safe. It was their only hope.
(six months later)
James and Lily cradled their twins, a boy and a girl. They had both had their father's black and their father's eyes. The boy was named Harry. The girl was named Jenny. They loved one another too. In their shared cot, she snuggled up close to one another. Their father and mother loved watching them. They prayed with their hearts that their already strong bond would remain forever strong and never fracture.
(Two months)
James and Lily held their children as they were baptised in the church of Godric's Hollow. Their close friends surrounded them and watched with happiness as the babies were blessed under holy water.
James and Lily wanted this moment to last forever…but it was not to pass. No matter how hard one can try, no matter how hard one tries to protect others…destiny has a way of escaping change.
(A year later)
Hagrid searched and searched in the wrecked house that the Potters had took refuge in. He suddenly heard the cries of a baby. He squeezed through a tight space and saw a crying baby girl in a cot. But there was no boy. He was gone. Was he dead? Hagrid felt he had been too later. He gently picked up the girl, wrapping her in a blanket, rocking her gently until her eyes were closed.
"I'm here Jenny," he said. "No one's going to harm you. I'm going to take you somewhere safe. Please forgive me for not coming here on time to save your brother as well,"
(Before that)
A tall black wizard with long platinum hair stalked up the roadway towards his giant manor. He carried in his arms a blanket bundle where he heard loud crying.
His wife waited for him at the grand doors, with another son in her arms.
"Lucius…" Narcissa addressed. "Is that a baby in your hands?"
"Yes," Lucius Malfoy showed his wife the crying baby. "He shall be raised in our care as the Dark Lord commands," he decreed.
"Seems like we've got another son to take care of," Narcissa said.
"The Dark Lord expects his heart to follow nothing but pride. He must not know anything about where he came from, nor anything about who stands in his 'path to power' until he's old enough to go to school. And he must be given a new name. He will no longer be Harry Potter. He shall be Lukas Malfoy,"
"Look at that scar," Narcissa said.
On Harry's head was a lightning shaped scar that glowed.
(A few hours later)
"When will this girl be old enough to learn who she is?" Minvera asked Dumbledore, who was cradling the little girl.
"When she is ready?" Dumbledore said.
"And when will she learn, of the brother she is destined to fight,"
"We shall have to wait and see. I have a feeling that they will figure it out once they meet each other," Dumbledore's voice was sad but filled with hope. "I am despondent that we could not prevent their separation. But I know in my heart that someday they will find what they will need in each other,"
"Who could have taken him?"
"I may know who has. But there is nothing we can do to alter what is now happening. We cannot mess with destiny. We tried doing that and it led to their parents deaths. But what I do know, is that they will meet each other as students. There is nothing we can do to alter what has to come,"
"Are you sure it is wise leaving her in the hands of those horrible Muggles?"
"They are the only family she has. She is far better off growing away from all of that until she is ready," he placed the baby on the door step of number 4 Private Drive. He heard sniffling from behind. He turned and saw Hagrid crying. "There, there, Hagrid. It's not really goodbye after all,"
"I know sir, I just wish we didn't have to leave her with these selfish Muggles who will hate her for her magical parentage. They'll treat her terribly like dirt,"
"I know, Hagrid," Albus sympathised. "But this is the only way she will be safe,"
"But how is far? That maybe her twin will be raised by better people?"
"Those people will be no different than those Muggles. They will fill his heart with anger and hate. Only Jenny's everlasting love can enlighten his heart. There is nothing I can do to change what must happen," he turned his attention back on the baby and kneeled down placing a letter down as well. "Good luck Jenny Potter," her lightning shaped scar glowed bright.
Please let me know what you all thought of this. Hope this made you readers feel tense about what's going to happen in the future between the two twins.
