Chapter 1

Magic society. Everybody can learn how to use it, - the magic partical are in the air. Some are more talented than others, but the strongest magic have always creatures called FAY. Diferent species, which does not mix with people well, but there were exceptions. From those exceptions come to life creatures known as halfbreeds. Partially human, and patially Fay, - or being blessed by Fay. Those species are rare, and due to hatred and enviousness of the humans, they are hunted and often killed in false acusations. In some areas, where the magic cult is holding power, there is no need for those tactics, and halfbreeds and FAY are hunted and killed when they are found.

After the great magic war, only 20 percent of the mankind have survived. FAY went almost extinkt, and those who survived left with no trace to follow. Any attempt for the council or kingdom have failed, and everybody is living just for himself. Mostly in the towns where the major holds the power. But most of the land are given back to nature. Ruins of old town and villages are covered in grass, moss and even a trees.

Magic object are rare, - most of them destroyed in the war. Now there is not enough enchanters who can tie the magic with the physicall stuff.

Story beggins with Lucy – child who survived a war. Lost her parents and live with other kids, - Gray and Gajeel under the care of Iron dragon Metalicana and Ice tiefling Silver.

Gajeel was trained in dragon magic and Metalicana took him as his own. Silver taught Gray devil Ice magic and Gray was also like a son to him. Lucy loved her new brothers dearly. They were inseperable. But she couldnt learn any magic they used, and they dont know why. Anybody should be able to use at lease some magic, even if it is just a spark - but not Lucy.

Three years they lived together in the ruins by the lake in the and Silver fix it best to their ability, so it could be decent place to live with their kids. But than suddenly Metalicana and Silver dissapeared. All three kids search entaire woods, but they were very far from any humans, in the forests and other ruins, they never find anything what could help them to find their elders.

After a half of year, they stopped searching. Lucy Gray and Gajeel continue living in the woods just as they were taught. They hunt for food, pick the healing herbs and berries and Gajeel as the oldest one, take the oitments Lucy made of those, to the human town – market to sell them and bring back stuff they needed. It was almost a month-long journey, so he went only if it was neccesary.

They do not need much, - much stuff they could find around or make themselves. Also they do not believe humans. In order to learn magic they were using, they needed to accept the blood of their teachers and became halfbreed themselves. They knew what would bring them if other people found out what are Gajeel and Gray. Only Lucy was pure human. Metalicana and Silver told her, that she cannot change, because the change would kill her. So she at lease tried to learn a "normal human" magic, but it was no use.

Once – a year after the Metalicana and Silver dissapeared, the group of 3 men find them in the woods. Gajeel was on the way to town to sell oitments and bring back some stuff they needed, so it was only Gray and Lucy at that time. Strangers told kids that they are traveling merchants and their leader introduced himself as Bora.

Bora and those other two stayed by them through the night and Lucy and Gray were happy that they have some company, since they seemed to be good and friendly folks. But as soon as Bora find out that they live there all alone, they attacked them. He was sure that he will kill Gray, who at that time look like ordinary fifteen year old boy and sell Lucy to the slave trade. Gray have been able to kill them, but Lucy almost died. Gajeel returned two days after this incident was blinded in rage. He shifted to his dragon like form and tore the corpses of the bandits to pieces. They both swear to Lucy that they will keep her safe and since that time, they hide their presence and both of them became hatefull to strangers and very overprotective towards Lucy.

Lucy loved her brothers dearly, and even though it was almost whole year ago, her wounds on her back was still not fully healed. And no matter how she tried to calm her nerves, in her head the scars went even deper and she never recovered. So everytime, when her brothers were hunting or doing other stuff, she was lonely. She was afraid when she was lonely, but also she does not want her brothers to think of her as this pathetic broken thing so she often she goes deep in to the woods to the moon lake to fight with her fears. She sit by the lake and there she talked to the stars, and sometimes could swear they talked back to her.

Suddently, she heard noise from the bush behind her.

„Who´s there?"

„Easy, it´s me Gray."

Lucy exhale air she didnt know she was holding and slowly relax muscles in her body, but her heart rate was still extremely fast.

„Dont scare me like that Gray,…. And put on some clothes!" – she turn away when she saw that he strip only to his boxers.

„You know that I cant control it. It just happens." – Gray defend himself grumpy when he put on his shorts.

„Your here alone again? You know its not safe for you."

„But Gray, - this is my place, - I have gone here since uncles left…"

„Lucy, - your wounds are not healed yet and you cannot use magic, - what if somebody attacked you a we would not be here to protect you? What if somebody like Bora come for you again?!"

„But Gray, I…"

„You stay with us so we can protect you! Silver told me to be carefull around people, but I was so excited to see somebody else, that I didnt listened his advice, and you know what happened! Its all my fault!"

Than he calmed himself, because he didnt want to yell at Lucy.

"Every time I look at you It will remind me of the mistake I made. Mistake that almost killed you Lucy."

„Gray Its my fault... I wanted to stay with us. And if only I have some magic I wouldnt be so useless ….!"

„I was the one who brought Bora and others to us. An I did it when Gajeel wasnt here. He trusted me to protect you. I know he blames me, even if he never told it a loud."

"..."

"You must stay with us."

„…."

„Lucy please, - promise me that you will not go here alone."

„Okay Gray." – Lucy know it was useless to argue, more so that she was actually relieved she wont be alone.

They both went back to their home where Lucy picked her herbs and started to sort them out. Two years later on Lucy´s 17th birthdays the boys prepaired a surprise for her – a new dress from the towns market. Lucy prepaired their favourite food and all of them play games and talked how it would look like if there would be no magic.

When it was time to go to sleep, Lucy went to the moon lake. It was pretty dark, but the stars lighted the path. It was such a beautiful night, and Lucy was in some trance as she walked long forgotten yet so known path to the water. No fear, no hesitation, she looked like sleepwalking, but with wide open brown eyes. When she arrived the sight was wonderfull. In the mirror like surface of the lake there was the exact copy of the night sky with the full moon and all the stars which were above. No wrinkle try to ruin the image on the surface of the lake.

Lucy slowly take her dress of. Naked she walked to the water. She was always seeker of the warmth, but now it looks like she didnt notice the cold water.

When she was in the depth when water cover her hips, she put her arms above her, like she wanted to welcome all the stars in her ambrace. She was happy like never before in her live. Everything seems so perfect and right. The night air was light and clear, - just full of freedom. Lucy closed her eyes and talked to the stars. In that moment the air around Lucy beginn to sparkle and her skin was pale and shining with the moon light. Her hair looks more golden and just flote behind her in the wind and make her look like mystic legend creature, who raised from the lake to greet the stars. Her voice was so mellow and beautiful, it feels like whole forest grew silent, just to hear everything she tells.

There was no way she could notice that she was not alone. Too deep in her trance, Lucy just followed her instinkt told her to do.

But only few meters beside her, on the shore of this lake a man was hiding in the bush. Not breathing afraid that he may scared the Fairy away. Never in his life he seen something so beautiful. He never really cared for this stuff, but this sight stroke something deep within him. The goddes of the light, before his very eyes. He wanted to go little closer, when the sparkling light around her started to take a shape. Twelve strange marks starts to rotate around Lucy. A few moments later the marks start to change shape again, and suddenly there were creatures, shining almost as much as the beautiful lady before them. Kneeling with extended hand. The Fairy took a few steps to them and all the creatures merge into her. All of them turn back into the sparkling lights, which were sinking into her skin all over her body. When she turned and slowly walked to the shore, still surrounded by that light, the man saw very large and very deep burn scar on her back. Without time to stop it, the deep rumble escaped his throat, as the sudden urge to hunt and take down anybody who was responsible for this.

She heard the sound and the trance she was in was immediately gone. She quickly run from the water to her dress to cover herself.

„Who´s there?!"

The man didnt know what to do. He keep himself hidden in the bush and watch her every move.

Lucy quickly put her summer white dress on, and run from the water.

„WAIT!"

It was deep and rough, and full of need.

„EEK!" – she squeaked and jumped back from the voice.

From the bush few meters away from her stood a men – he could be same age as her, maybe a little older, taller than her, with the pink hair, black one sleeved vest and white trunks. He quickly stood up and went to her with his arms before him in a calming pose.

„I didn´t want to scare you, … I.." - his voice sounded guilty, but Lucy didnt hear him. She was terified, and for a moment she couldnt move a muscle. But when that man took another step, she snapped.

„No, no, NO NO NO - GO AWAY! Gray! Gajeel! Gray!" – Lucy screamed turn away and started running, but the path was rocky and very dark, so after a few steps she wrongly placed the foot, slipped and fell painfully on the rock. She hit her head hard. One sharp rock slice her eyebrow and stream of blood run her cheek. Tears started to sting in her eyes, and her leg hurt like hell. In biger and biger panic she tried to get away from him and push herself with her arms, while stil lying on the ground on her back. She didnt leave her eyes of him.

Natsu quickly run to her and tried to calm her down. She cover her head with her arms and prepaired for the pain, but it never came.

„Please dont hurt me!" – she pleaded with tears rolling on her cheeks.

„Shhh, - calm down, I will not hurt you, - I promise. I am friend. I would never hurt a Fairy."

He didnt make sence to her, - but it could be because of the head, - she hit herself pretty hard. She slowly lower her arms to her body and look at him.

„You are bleeding from your head, are you okay? Hold on, - I will take you to the water."

Natsu said and picked her bridal style. Lucy was trembling in his arms and very light, althought she has the curves of the adult woman.

She realized how cold is she after she felt Natsu´s body temperature. He litterally radiate the warmth and even when she wanted to be as far as possible from this man, this heat was nice and calmed her a little.

Natsu felt how cold she is and he was worried. Partialy because she hurt herself because of him, and he didnt know if it is right due to her species, or if she is badly injured. Hell he didnt know what species is she! But after a while when she was in his arms, she started to feel a little warmer. It felt so right to have her in his arms. The feeling in his gut when he was so close to her was something new, and he didnt know what to do. What he knew was that he didnt want to let her go, - like never.

Never, - ever and to nobody. – He found her, - she was his.

This thoughts suprises him, because he felt them comming from his inner side. But he admitted he hated to see her injured. It seems so wrong in copare of how magical she looked in the lake. She distracted him out of his thoughs when she started to whimp.

„The wound on your head doesnt look to deep, but it must be cleared. I will wash it, - okay? I wont hurt you, - I promise." – he look in to her eyes. They were big, brown full of fear and tears. He waited what feels like hours for her aproval, but he didnt want to make something what would scare her even more.

She nodded slightly and Natsu started to kneel by the shore of the lake. He still support her back by his hand and with his other hand he gently wash her wound. The bloody water was now on the top of her white dress. Lucy still clutch her arms to her breasts, watching his face.

„What is your name? My name is Natsu, - Natsu Dragneel." – he said with the smile. Two sharp cannies have glistened in the moon light.

„Lu…cy." – she speak very softly.

„Nice to meet ya Lucy!" – he smile at her with his smirk. It was so genuine smile that Lucy also smiled a little.

Suddenly Natsu dropped his smile and sniffed the air. He looked like some sort of animal, - but it wasnt so bad, - according to Lucy thoughs.

„Stay down, - someone is comming „ – he told her and carefuly shifted her behind him to shield her from the danger.

„Lucy!" –

„Bunny girl! – where are ya?"

Two guys run out of the woods, and stopped abruptly when they saw Lucy with bloody clothes sitting behind the stranger man. There wasnt much ligth, but non of them needed to see, that his hands were covered in Lucy's blood.

It was a mere second, when Gray and Gajeel processed what they saw. Lucy was injured and all bloody. Gajeel summoned his magic as first one, but Gray wasnt much behind. At the same time Natsu stepped closer to Gray and Gajeel. As soon as Gajeel look into the Natsus eyes, he started to feel strange. His body reacted on its own and he kneeled down with his head down.

„Gajeel, - whats with you?!" – Gray yelled on his brother.

„So you are Dragonborn…" – Natsu said and inhaled deeply.

„Not your bussines you jerk!" – Gajeel spit infront of him, but still cannot raise himself from the ground.

„What have you done to him?!" – Gray yelled and stood infront of Gajeel to shield him.

„Nothing yet, - what do you want here?" – Natsus tone was rude, but he was careful not to let Lucy open to attacks from them.

„Give her back – she doesnt belong to you." – Gajeel growled as he fighted to stand up.

It was something that got Natsu all fired up. She was Fairy, and doesnt belong to anybody! Ironically - something inside of him screamed that she must be his. He didnt watnt to let anybody else to have her. And definitely not this two - who look like savage beasts. Both with powerfull magic. He stepped closer to Lucy to protect her, and at the same moment Gray started with his Ice magic but every attack just melt in Natsus raging flames.

The night air pierce strong scream. All three guyes look at the source of the terrifying sound.

Lucy was in the shock. After the incident with Bora she has very strong phobia of fire and Natsus magic make her brake a loose. Her eyes were wide open, her body start to shake violently, and her skin and eyes start to glow, just like few moments ago, in the lake.

„Lucy!" – Gray shouted and run after her, but Natsu had stopped him. At the same time the scream snapped something inside of Gajeel and he jump infront of Natsu with his iron fist.

„Shut the fire down or I will kill you!" – Natsu didnt expect Gajeel to be able to move, so he took serious punch to the face, and was pushed few meters back, where he ends on his knees with his fist in the dirt.

In time Gajeel have took care of Natsu, Gray run to Lucy, but when he touched her, - his skin was burned and it hurt like hell. He took his hand back to him fast and study his injury. It was thick silver line which radiate heat and coldness in the same time. It doesnt make sence, - since Lucy was human, - without magic…

„Dont touch her!" – Natsu shouted punch Gajeel and stepped between Lucy and Gray.

„What do you mean? What is wrong with her?! What did you do to her?!" – Gray started to panic.

„You cannot touch Fay when they are like this!" – Natsu was now soooo pissed of. He just grabed her on purpose! Every violent action in panic state was very paintfull, for every halfbreed, not mention pureblooded fay!

„Just what shit are you spitting?!" – Gajeel snapped and stepped closer to Natsu.

„Put the fire out! She is scared of that shit!"

Natsu immediately pull the fire out and look after Lucy.

As soon as the fire was gone, - she stopped shaking and glowing. The color of her eyes change back from golden to brown and she started to blink rapidly with the new tears in her eyes.

„Gray, - Gajeel…" – and then she fainted.

Natsu quicky catch her before she could hit he ground again.

Gray and Gajeel immediately started again after him, but they stopped abruptly when Natsu turn with Lucy in his arms.

„ENOUGH!" – he roared and from his back sprang two large wings. Also there was a long and thick tail. On his head grew two red horns, his cannies were now a little longer and his eyes were gold with the black slits. His hand, neck and face started to cover red scales and small sharp claws. Both were pushed back from the magic pressure he radiated.

„Give our sister back!" – Gray shouted ready to strike again even when the pressure make it difficult to gather his magic.

Natsu seemed to be impresed by that, but mostly he was confused. He thought that Lucy was scared of them. But now it seems that all that she was scared of were his flames and him.

„She cannot be your sister. – You are tiefling and he is dragonborn. There is no way she can be relative with you."

„We live together since we were kids. And who the hell are ya?! What do ya want with Lucy?!" – Gajeel gritted his teeth and stepped closer.

„We dont let you hurt her – give her back!" – Gray told him with icy tone.

Natsu looked at them for a while and than he dropped his magic to normal level again.

„I dont want to hurt her. She came here when I was sleeping. I am Salamander from the Fairy lands. I was on my way back home."

„I dont take his shit, - why is she all bloody?! Why does she glow like the fucking chandelier! She was perfectly fine this evening!" – Gray said angry and stepped closer, - now he was about tree steps from Natsu.

„She slipped, fell and hit her head. I was helping her to clean the wound when you two showed up. And the glowing was her magic – obviously – since she is, what she is."

Gray and Gajeel took a look at each other.

„But Lucy is human, - and with no magic. She was always that way."

„Thats nonsence, you can see …" – but when Natsu looked down at her in his arms, than he finally realized. She was now really completly humanlike. He doesnt sense any bit of magic. He look on her dumbfolded. Never he know about something like this, - nor saw it by his own eyes.

„Please give Lucy back to us, - I can help her." – Gray took another step to Natsu and reach his arms.

Natsu was confused. His inner part was furious. He wanted everybody who want to steal her from him dead. Burned to a crisp. But he also know that if he can help her, he should let him. Also, if the two of them attack at once, - he would have a hard time to fight them of and meanwhile protect the girl.

„I will let you help her, but she will stay by me, till she will be ok. I dont believe you two…"

„Phe! Yer one to talk Salamander!" – Gajeel started to make a wuss, but Gray have stopped him.

„Gajeel, - wait. We will wait until Lucy will wake up."

Gray put his hand on Lucys forehead and let the chill soak into her skin. Her face was immediately lighten up. He carefully touch the wound on her eyebrow. It was small, - bleeding so much only cause it was in the face.

Lucy eyes snapped open, - glowing gold brightly with the strange ornaments in them. Gray immediately take his hand from her head in fear that he will be burnt again by that strange glow but Natsu hold her in his arms with the worried expression. He was still in his dragon form with horns and scales in his face and golden eyes. It was like he was drowning in her eyes and she was trapped in his. Slowly Lucy raised her hand and place it on Natsus cheek. The touch was very light, but both can feel the sparkling and the tighness in their chests.

„Nei Drake" – she whispered and smiled on Natsu, who lean into her touch.

„Nua Draga …." – Natsu didnt know why or what does he said. It just seems so right and he act on his instinct.

After this Lucy closed her eyes and with the smile on her lips she again fell unconsious.

All three of them didnt know what to say. After a while Gajeel stepped close to Natsu and Lucy, but when he wanted to take Lucy from Natsu, deep and dangerous growl escaped from Natsus throat.

„Dont touch her."

Gajeel stopped in his track. This was clearly warning which will not be repeated. And Gajeel sensed the meenig of this in his very core. He was the same species, and also know that nor he, nor Gray can beat him, because now, it is not the man, it is the dragon who is now in charge. Very strong and pissed one. He stepped back and bowed his head infront of Natsu. He could tell, because Gajeel was also dragonborn, and Metalicana taught him, it was the question of dominance and possesivness between their species. All dragons were way too much possesive, and overprotective of what belonged to them. And now it seems that Lucy done something to lure his dragon to the surface. And it was never a good thing.

Natsu lay his head on Lucy´s collarbone and inhaled deeply. Slowly, - very slowly his draconic features started to dissapear.

Gray wanted to say something but Gajeel stopped him.

After what seems to be an hour, Natsu seems to be in charge again. He look around to see that Gray and Gajeel are sitting few meters infront of him, and he has Lucy still in his arms. Natsu look to Gajeel and ask him.

„How long I was out?"

„Bou´t an hour. Just sitting there with Bunny girl."

„I didnt kill anybody?"

„N´ah, but we need some explanation."

Natsu seem to be relieved that he didnt go on rampage.

„Can you give her to me already?" – Gray asked and stepped closer.

Another low growl from Natsu. He blinked few times, suprised that his body reacted on its own.

„No. …. I dont know why but she is the only thing thats keeping me sane right now."

„Salamander´s right Gray, - his dragon is still here, - we cannnot let him loose, - or we all will kick the bucket. Seems that we will take him home with us."

„But Gajeel, - what if he…"

„N´ah,… If he really wanted to kill us or Bunny girl, he would do so when he was not in charge. Instead he protect her. She will be ok."

„Uh, - whatever you say, …. stupid dragon things …." – Gray murmured under his breath
