Author's Note: Hello and welcome to yet another crazy idea of mine, combining our favorite fox and bunny duo with my latest gaming obsession. So I recently got myself into Animal Crossing after wanting to play it for SO long, and I recently had the urge to write something about it. And what better than thing to write about than Nick and Judy experiencing island life? :)

Now beforehand I'd like to inform you readers that this is in no way meant to be a serious story (not that any of my other stories are what you'd call serious XD). I started to write this out with the intention of making it a silly yet fun story that isn't centered around a true plot. We all need something to bring us a smile right now, and I had that in mind while writing it. So expect nothing more than silliness to come from this.

This chapter is pretty much just the "introduction" to everything else that I have planned for this story, but I do hope that you enjoy it. With that being said, I would love to know what your thoughts are on this. Your feedback, whether good or bad, is gladly appreciated.

Enjoy! :)

This, she thought, has to be the best decision he's ever made.

From the very moment they stepped into the airport, she was hardly able to contain her enthusiasm. An idyllic island getaway sounded like an amazing experience, and all she could think about were the fun activities that awaited her and her companion.

Sunbathing. Shelling. Fishing. Snorkeling in the cerulean ocean water. There were tons of different things for them to do according to all of the brochures for tropical vacations that they looked at. To be completely honest with herself, she wasn't exactly sure what she wanted to do first as soon as they arrived. Right now she just couldn't wait to set paw onto the sandy beaches of this paradisal destination, putting all of the hustle and bustle of inner-city living aside for the tranquility that only a getaway like this could provide.

She wouldn't have to wait too much longer, though, if a certain someone would just make up their mind quicker…

"Come on, Nick," Judy said, growing a bit impatient. "You've been in there for almost an hour now. Just pick an outfit and come out so we can get the pictures taken for our passports."

"A fox has to look his foxiest, Fluff," her companion called back from behind the booth's closed curtain. "Besides, they almost give ya too many outfit options to choose from here. How do ya make a decision without trying everything on to see how it looks on you?"

"Just don't be too much longer. We gotta get on our flight to the island."

"The guy's up front said we could take all the time we needed," Nick responded.

"I don't think they meant that literally," the doe said, shaking her head at her vulpine partner's indecisiveness.

A few seconds later, the booth's curtains were slid open, and the red fox behind them came walking out. "Ta-da!" he said, waving his paws in the air. Instead of wearing his usual green Pawaiian shirt, he decided to do something different by wearing a yellow one. "What do ya think of this outfit, Carrots?"

Although the color of it was much brighter, different than his usual clothes, it looked pretty much identical to what he normally wore out with her. "All that time in the customization room for a simple change of color?" Judy asked.

"Hey, I'd normally never go for something this yellow," Nick replied, "but since this a new experience, I thought I'd try something new. Also, was I really in there that long?"

The rabbit looked at her watch and then glared back at him. "I've been keeping time," she informed.

Nick simply nodded upon realizing just how long he had been holding the show up. "When you give someone the freedom to try on a bunch of different clothes like that, though, you know that's bound to happen."

Now that the two of them were ready to continue, the fox and rabbit quickly signed the papers that were on the desk in front of them, making their way over to the camera on the opposite side of the airport to get pictures taken for their island passports. The quicker they finished up those things, the quicker they would be getting on the plane that was going to take them to paradise.

The two short tanuki at the front desk quickly tapped away at their computers, getting the couple ready to fly off to begin their island excursion.

"Okay," the one on the left said, "everything is ready."

"Ready..." the one on the right repeated.

"Once you arrive on the island, we will also meet you there."

"There..."

"Your co-worker likes to add on to what you say," Nick remarked, stating the obvious.

The tanuki on the left side of the front desk nodded his head in agreement. "Yep," he responded. "that's just something that he likes to do."

"Do..." the other tanuki beside him added, almost as if he were anticipating the moment to do that like it was clockwork.

"I see that," was all Nick responded.

"Thanks so much, Timmy and Tommy," Judy said to the two at the desk, waving in their direction before making her way towards the boarding gate. She gestured for Nick to follow her, and he walked behind her as they both went from the terminal to the airplane itself.

Judy flicked through the pages of the magazine she was holding, a guide to making the best out of a tropical vacation, smiling widely as she shifted in her seat. She looked at the photography within its pages, depicting coconut palms with their leaves swaying in the wind, and the crystal-clear waters that were a bright turquoise color.

She knew mammals that always dreamed of visiting such destinations but never getting the chance to, or saved up money throughout the year to afford a week vacation in wintertime, only to have to return to their not-so-wonderful weather. It was locations like these that mammals wished they could head to, and now her and her companion were lucky enough to be staying there.

Unlike other vacation packages that allowed them to have a stay of a few days before returning home, they would actually be marking this island they would arriving to as their new location. That meant from this day forward that every tie she opened her eyes, the sights that greeted her would be the blissful waves crashing upon the shoreline.

"I don't know if I already told you or not," Judy said to the fox sitting beside her, "but thank you for suggesting this."

"Not a problem," Nick replied, leaning back in his chair a bit. "An opportunity like this only comes once in a lifetime for some."

The doe set her magazine down and looked at the blue sky from the plane window, wondering how much longer it would be until they approached the island. She then looked back at the tod and replied, "It almost feels like a dream."

"My thoughts exactly, Fluff," the vulpine said with a smile. "Nothing's gonna ruin this getaway."

"Nope." Judy shook her head. Looking at the small screen in front of her, she said, "It says we can both watch a short presentation on island living."

"Let's put it on," Nick replied. "Might give us some ideas on what to do when we get their."

With the press of a button, the aforementioned video started to play, complete with upbeat music playing that only made her smile wider.

One Short Presentation on Island Living Later…

They ran forward across the boardwalk that stretched only a short distance, eager for their new life as residents of an island to commence. Enthusiasm was hardly containable within this moment as they got ready to step onto the sands of a new and wonderful abode.

The moment they got off of the boardwalk and on the beach, the smiles suddenly died off, being replaced with looks of confusion. The first views that they were greeted by were nothing like they had seen in the brochures or on the presentation that they watched on the plane.

Looking out in the distance, they saw the land that was a step up from the sands of the beach they were currently standing upon. Out in the distance, things were completely bare. There was barely constructions whatsoever, indicating that nobody else seemed to be occupying the land they had arrived to. The only thing that had been placed within their midst was a green tent with a logo of a leaf on it. Other than that, though, there was no signs of population.

"Well, this feels like a disappointment straight out of a Grizzlywold family vacation," Nick muttered, face-pawing as he shook his head.

He was certain the bunny by his side was about to take back everything she had said beforehand about this being the best decision he had ever made. He prepared himself for the remarks he was going to get about this coming up.

Judy, however, didn't seem to be too upset by this obvious contrast in scenery. "Let's not get distraught right away, Nick," she said with a dash of optimism. "Let's go over to that green tent over there and see what's going on around here."

"Nothing's goin' on here, from the looks of it," Nick muttered to himself as the two walked forward.

The moment they got over to the land that stepped up from the beach, they realized that it was actually covered in a thin layer of snow. This occurance, which seemed to defy the scientific nature of the area, only conjured up more confusion.

"How can their be active snowing here when the beach is just a few feet away?" Nick inquired aloud. "This isn't makin' any sense."

"Well, we have those weather machines in Zootopia that keep Tundratown snowing and the Sahara always hot," Judy replied informatively. "Maybe that's what they're doing here."

"You've got a point there, Carrots," replied the fox, "but if that's the case then where is the machine? There isn't a freakin' thing around here."

On top of there being no signs of occupancy, the grounds around them looked like they were littered with weeds. If there happened to be someone living around this area somewhere, they didn't seem to bother cleaning up the ground every now and then.

"Come on," Judy said. "I think I see someone coming out of there."

They walked in the direction of the green tent and over to where who they saw was standing. Over there was a tanuki, taller than the ones that helped them at the airport, dressed in a dark teal jacket. He started to smile as the fox and rabbit approached him.

"You must be Nick and Judy," he said to them. "Hello, hello. My name is Tom Nook, and I'll be here if you need anything."

"Actually," Judy said, "we do need something. Would you care to explain why there's absolutely nothing here?"

Tom Nook started to laugh. "You see," he proceeded to explain, "the package you and your companion accepted was for a getaway to a deserted island."

"A deserted island?" Nick and Judy both said in unison, looking over at each other.

"Deserted…" chimed in Timmy and Tommy, who were now standing on either side of Tom Nook.

"But the brochures we picked up never said anything about the island being deserted," Nick said, praying for an explanation.

"Ah, but it did," the tanuki in the jacket said to him. "If you open it up completely and look in the right hand corner of it, you'll see the terms regarding the package in small print. It blatantly says there that you'll be venturing to a deserted island." Upon finishing his explanation, he started to faintly smile.

"With all due respect, Mr. Nook, you must know that nobody bothers to read the tiny print on anything," Nick responded.

Despite the fact that what he had just said was the truth in his case, he made himself a mental note to thoroughly read through the terms of anything else he signed up for in the future. Though it was a bit too late to make that kind of pledge now, considering what had already happened.

Just then, two more mammals came running from off the boardwalk and onto the sandy beach behind them. One of them was a squirrel wearing a red coat and the other was a rhino.

"Wow, I can't believe we're some of the first folks to set paw on this deserted island!" the squirrel remarked enthusiastically.

"You said it," the rhino added. "When I saw on the bottom of the page in the advertisement that it was a getaway to a deserted island, I couldn't wait to start packing."

Nick turned his back and looked at who would be their new neighbors. He then turned back around and looked back at the tanuki in front of him.

"There's no need for you or Judy to worry, though," Tom Nook said with reassurance. "As part of this package that Nook Inc. created, we'll cover all of your basic needs. We'll give you a tent and some other supplies for the time being." His eyes widened as if he had just remembered something in that moment. "Which reminds me…"

"What?" Judy wondered out loud, having a hunch that there was going to be some sort of catch that she was going to be informed about.

Tom Nook started to clap his paws together. "Your moving-in fees," he said to them. "With everything put into consideration, they come out to… around fifty-thousand Bells."

"Bells," Timmy and Tommy repeated in sync with one another.

Tom looked at the other two and snapped, "Do you two mind?"

Nick and Judy's eyes widened upon hearing this information. Fifty thousand? they thought. And what exactly are the Bells he's talking about? Some kind of different currency?

"Well, uh, Mr. Nook…" Nick said hesitantly. "You don't happen to take cash or credit, do you?"
