Continuing with my love for Pedro and his characters, here's one for his loveable grumpy character Pero from The Great Wall.
Also because I love Matt Damon, and I love him even more now after his wonderful cameo in Thor: Ragnarok! XD
And just because I recently watched this movie and enjoyed it, and got inspired!
Here's a Full Summary:
A traveling merchant's daughter, Constanza has been on the road most of her life. Her dream is to find a place to call home and settle down, but she'll only do this once all her wares are sold. Until then, she's on the road. This is how she comes to cross paths with two mercenaries on their way to China, and how they all get tangled up in battling monstrous creatures and fighting for their lives.
This is the story of how she finds her home and family. (Pero TovarXOC)
On that note, I do not own anything from this movie, only my own plot and characters.
Thanks and enjoy! :)
Prologue
"Never have I felt more at home than with you..."
All this talk of home, and/or lack thereof, and yet, it would still be a long time before she uttered such words.
"So once you sell the last piece, what then?" William asked over the crackling of the fire.
"Then, then I go home."
It sounded so simple, but really it wasn't.
Nothing was really simple when you had no idea how to go about it.
Najid and Rizzetti were taking the first watch while she, William, and Tovar sat around the fire. Tovar had already plopped himself down on his bedroll, ready for sleep, but the night was so calm and peaceful, so she and William opted to sit around the fire for a while, staring up at the stars. They were so clear, so full of light and life. After a day of consistent travel, always watching their backs, it calmed her to just sit there and stare up at the sky. Here, she felt safe with them, the stars, always watching over her.
Papa had always loved the stars, loved watching them twinkling above, so close yet so far away at the same time. Looking at them reminded her of him, and made her smile at his memory. It were as though he were amongst those starts he had so long admired himself, or so she imagined, watching over her as well.
That, and she never left her bow and quiver of arrows too far away, always keeping the paired weapons close by and at hand, just as Papa had always instructed. Better to be safe than sorry, he had said, and she had held his words close ever since first hearing them years ago.
"Ah, and where is home?" William asked, intrigued.
The redhead shrugged. "That is a good question. I'm not really sure. My family and I had been on the road for as long as I remember, so it's up to me, I suppose, where I find home."
"Where would you like it to be?"
"Also a good question. I'm not quite sure yet. I imagine a cottage though, warm and cozy, open and welcoming. With a workshop where I can continue to make items to sell. I'd still like to travel, of course, but it would be nice to have a specific place to return to at the end of each journey." She smiled fondly at the image forming in her head. "I do love travel, and I am grateful for the experience I have gained while on the road, I truly am. But I would like a place to call home, a place to return to each night, to call mine. To call my own."
"And someone to share it with?" he asked, a hinting glint in his eye.
"Perhaps," she said, matching his grin, knowing of what he implied: a lover, a husband. A life partner. "Finding a partner such as that is not as easy on the road as one may think."
"Well, you never know."
"That's true. I know I want a family someday, that much I do know. It was just me, I have no siblings, and it could get lonely. I want a big family, so hopefully no one will ever feel alone. A big family to fill a warm home."
"Well I hope you get it someday, Constanza, your perfect home and loving, big family. I truly do."
"Thank you, William. So do I." She smiled her thanks. "What about you? Do you have a sweetheart to return to when this is all over?"
He chuckled at her question. "No, I don't. Seems I will have to find a home for myself as well."
"We can help each other, then."
"Aye, that we can."
"What about Tovar?" she asked, nodding to the sleeping lump that was their companion. "Where will he go once this is all said and done?"
"Good question. He is from Spain, that is all I know. I'm not sure if he has any living family there to return to. He doesn't speak much of family or home."
"Maybe he does in Spanish and we just can't understand him."
"Perhaps."
"Well, it seems that we're all in a very similar situation, us three. It looks like we'll all be needing a home, or at least a place to call home, once this is done."
"It does," he agreed. "Well, I'd say we join Tovar in getting some rest. Goodnight, Constanza."
"Goodnight, William."
Unbeknownst to them, however, Tovar had not been asleep, and had overheard their every word. Home, family, love, all of it.
But they didn't need to know that. Not now, at least. Not yet.
