Hey there! Here's my new multi-chapter fic project, this time focused on Haruki and Isuke. There's also a character appearing who wasn't in the main AnR series but was part of AnR Escape 6, so I wouldn't call them an original character per se.
warning: homophobia
She didn't bother with getting up after it was the fifth time she was shoved to the ground. Her back was starting to hurt and her hands were all scratched. She could feel their glare full of contempt nearly stabbing her as they sneered at her.
"Aww, aren't you going to get up? Come on, get back on your feet so we can push you again!" a young boy taunted.
She refused to obey. She refused to look at her bullies as she remained well-grounded. The boy looked annoyed as he suddenly kicked her.
"I said get up!" he yelled.
But she still refused to do as he said. But before he could hit her again, one of his friends stopped him.
"If you touch her too much you'll get contaminated by her disease," his friend said.
"Huh…? Oh, right. The homo disease. Hey, how does it feel like to know that your parents are faggots? If I had been adopted by a couple of fags, I'd kill myself."
"She probably caught the gay virus. No wonder, with that kind of name. Who would give a male name to a girl other than sissies."
Those words made her heart clenched. Why were they so awful to her? Just because her parents were both men? Because she had a male name? Or perhaps was it because she was shy? Anyways, she still had her pride. They can beat her all they want, but don't they dare insult her family!
"I wish… you were adopted by a gay couple," she started to say. "I'd love for you to kill yourself!"
"What did you say you fucking bitch!?"
And he kicked her again, but frankly, it was worth it, just to see his red angry face.
"You there. What do you think you're doing?" asked a calm yet cold voice.
The bullies stopped and turned back. A boy around their age was walking towards them. He had curly ebony hair and crimson red eyes that looked so piercing. He was staring at the bullies with such a stern and serious look, yet he also seemed quite stoic.
"We're just playing with her. We're all friends here," the boy said with an innocent smile.
The black-haired boy looked at her with his piercing eyes before he glared at the bullies.
"She doesn't seem to be enjoying herself," he replied coldly.
"Well, we do. So unless you want us to play with you too, scram!"
"No, I don't think so."
The boy clenched his fist angrily as he jumped on him, ready to punch him right in the face. The black-haired boy easily blocked his punch and then twisted his wrist.
"Arrrghhh!"
The black-haired boy released his fist and the boy fell to his knees, grabbing his arms as he continued to whine in pain. The other bullies instinctively recoiled as he stared at them.
"So, who's next?" he asked calmly.
The bullies glanced at each other with a fearful gaze before they unanimously decided to run away. The injured one looked at him with terror before he stood up and followed his friends.
The black-haired boy then turned back and offered her his hand.
"You're fine now. I don't think they will bother you anymore," he said.
She hesitated for a moment, distrustful by nature, but eventually accepted his hand as he helped her to get back on her feet.
"T-thanks…" she said nervously.
"No need to thank me. I just did… what anyone decent would have done… I guess."
She could help but blush a little. She had to admit, he was kind of cute. And strong… a little bit too strong for a kid.
"What… what's your name?" she asked.
The boy didn't answer right away as if he was hesitating to answer.
"My name is Shigaraki Tsubaki. What about you?"
"I'm… I'm Inukai Isuke. Nice to meet you, Tsubaki-kun."
Isuke woke up in a jolt. She instinctively sat up and frantically looked around.
It was just a dream. Nothing more than a memory of the past.
She sighed. It had been such a long time since she dreamed of him. She thought she had finally forgotten about him, but it looked like he still existed in her subconscious like a weight trying to bring her down. He was a weakness she had to get rid of- a nuisance. And she wished she never met him in the first place.
Isuke heard a soft snore next to her. A smile appeared on her lips when she saw her girlfriend peacefully sleeping next to her. Seeing Haruki never failed to appease her. She wasn't alone. She had someone she truly loved and who also loved her. Someone she could trust.
Someone who will never abandon her.
Isuke yawned softly as she laid back down, snuggling against her lover, glad that she met her. She wanted to spend the rest of her life by Haruki's side and only think of her.
But despite that, Tsubaki's image remained carved in her mind like a burned mark.
Haruki wasn't expecting to ever see Isuke again. After she was expelled from Class Black, she thought she had seen the last of her roommate. But turns out fate still had stuff in store for them.
Due to her injuries resulted after her assassination attempts against Haru, Haruki ended up hospitalized for months. And this is when she received an unexpected visitor.
"Well well, you aren't so tough after all, Haruki."
The redhead could barely believe her eyes when Isuke walked inside her hospital room. The beautiful and gorgeous Inukai Isuke, her ex-roommate, the girl she admired, the girl she loved. And here she thought that the pink-haired girl would have simply forgotten about her, but it seemed that she had been wrong to assume that.
"Isuke…?"
"Tsk-tsk, it's Isuke-sama for you."
Yep, it really was her.
"Well, turns out that broken bones don't heal in just a few weeks," Haruki replied with a smirk.
Even if she was happy to see Isuke again, Haruki also felt kind of awkward, especially given how things ended between them.
"So, uh, whatcha doing here?"
Isuke smirked at the question.
"Isn't it obvious? You took something precious from me and I'm here to make you pay."
That answer sent chills down Haruki's spine and her heart started to race as Isuke walked towards her.
"P-pay? For what? I haven't taken anything from you!"
Isuke's smile turned into a malicious grin as she softly brushed her lips.
"Don't tell me you already forgot what you did to me. Or perhaps are you so used to randomly kissing girls that you stopped counting them?"
"W-what? Of course not! I would never have… forget about you."
After she said those words Haruki blushed. Isuke froze for a moment, seeming surprised, before she looked away.
"Is it… what I stole from you? A kiss?"
It was Isuke's turn to blush.
"... Isuke's lips are precious. Did you really think you would get away with this? No. You need to pay for what you've done!"
The pink-haired girl was now standing next to Haruki, staring at her. For a moment, Haruki had to admit that she was a little bit afraid.
Okay, maybe downright terrified.
"What… what are you going to do to me?"
Isuke grinned at those words.
"Well, I initially wanted to kill you…"
Haruki's heart skipped a beat.
"But, under reconsideration, I decided that I'll instead make you take your responsibility."
"... responsibility?"
"For kissing me and… making me feel stuff."
Before Haruki could add anything Isuke suddenly laid down until their lips met. Isuke's lips felt so soft and she could taste her sweet gloss. They shared an unexpected yet not an unwelcome kiss that made Haruki's heart pound harder and her body temperature rising like crazy.
When their lips parted away, Haruki could see that Isuke was blushing heavily.
"Now we're even," Isuke said.
Haruki remained silent for a moment, confused by what had just happened, before a smile grew on her lips.
"May I have another one?" Haruki asked with a grin. "I meant it, you know. What I told you before leaving. I do love you, Isuke."
Isuke's eyes widened in surprise. A smile then appeared on her face as she leaned back again.
"I love you too, Haruki."
And she kissed her again.
When she introduced Haruki to her parents, Isuke was a little bit fearful that her mother wouldn't like her. But turned out, Eisuke loved her girlfriend. Haruki was fitting just well in the Inukai household.
The same couldn't be said with Isuke and the Sagae household…
"Ugh, your siblings are sooo exhausting," Isuke complained.
After she finally managed to extricate herself from the cram and poor house, Isuke was on her way home, holding hands with her now fiancée.
"Come on, they ain't that bad. And they seem to have taken a liking for you," Haruki gently teased.
"Some little snotty brats liking me doesn't bring me a single drop of happiness," Isuke replied. "And your sister really doesn't seem to appreciate me…"
"Oh, Fuyuka? Nah, she's just shy."
"Oh trust me, I know how to recognize hostility when I see it and I can guarantee you she really can't stand me."
"She'll warm up to you eventually, don't worry."
"I don't worry- I don't care. I just wish she would stop staring at me like she's planning to murder me and dump my body in a river."
"Haha, Isuke, you have such a vivid imagination sometimes. You know how younger siblings are, they can be quite a handful from time to time."
Haruki didn't realise how much Isuke could actually relate to this statement. She knew very well how it was to be a big sister and to have responsibilities as the elder child.
And she knew how it felt like to feel like you failed as the older sibling.
"Yeah, I know…"
Isuke suddenly froze. She could feel a chill going through her nervous system. She knew she wasn't afraid so there was just one single explanation.
There was a threat. She was in danger. Someone with hostile intent was looking at her.
"Isuke? Are you-"
"Get down!"
She pulled on Haruki's hand and immediately jumped on the ground and hid behind the nearest object: a mailbox. As soon as they were hidden, a gunshot resounded.
"What the hell!? Did someone just shoot at us?!" Haruki exclaimed.
"Someone is observing us. Stay cover and go on the left, I'll take the right. I think the shot came from behind that building over there. Let's catch them and beat them up!"
"Sure thing!"
They nodded at each other before starting to run in the opposite direction. Isuke headed to the right, making sure to stay covered. She heard another gunshot near her. So the shooter was after her, not Haruki. It comforted Isuke a bit.
She rushed in a backstreet where she was protected by the buildings and continued to run, heading for where she thought the shooter was. She then saw someone's shadow casted on the ground and ran faster to catch them.
"You won't get away with this!" Isuke thought angrily.
She turned left to follow the shadow and try to corner them somewhere, or even get them stuck between her and Haruki. Her wish seemed to have been granted when they both reached a dead-end. The shadow belonged to a rather tall person wearing a black hoodie, which hid their identity. Isuke couldn't help but grin with satisfaction as she walked towards them.
"You're trapped. Show me your face before I beat it to a pulp!"
The individual remained still for a moment before they finally turned back and removed their hood.
It was a young woman with short curly hair black as ebony and piercing red eyes behind a pair of oval glasses. She was indeed tall- probably around the same height as Haruki. But it wasn't what Isuke focused on.
She knew this person.
"...You…?" Isuke said with disbelief. "You are... Tsubaki!?"
And that's it for the first chapter. I hope you enjoyed it! If you did please let me know. Seeya!
