Dean had been awakened by a gruff hand and a catchphrase he had heard before trouble too many times, "Give me a sec.". "Come on, Dean.", Sam said again and started to pull on Dean's sheets. "We got work to do. Coffee is already brewing.".
Dean swatted lazily before sitting up. "Coffee and doughnuts, that I can get behind.", he grumbled before getting dressed. "I didn't say anything about doughnuts.", Sam rolled his eyes with a little smile. He went over to the table by the window and used the glass of it to check Dean out. "Coffee without doughnuts is like burgers without coke. It goes against nature.", he explained as he slid on a pair of jeans and his boots. "Then it's lucky for you that I went out and got some.", Sam chuckled and shook his head. He knew Dean better than anyone else. "Good, so what do you have cooked up?", Dean walked over to the container and took one before heading to the coffee machine for his daily intake of caffeine. "I was researching while you slept.", Sam said as he took a sip of his own coffee. "It looks like a shifter is on the loose a couple of towns over.". "Nasty sonsofabitches.", Dean took the coffee cup with him in a cup before heading to his bags, "Well let's go see to it, Princess", he griped at his brother.
Sam nodded and got up from the chair and went over and grabbed his already packed duffle, "I'm ready when you are.".
"Turn in the key and I'll wait outside for ya.", he said to Sam as he headed towards the impala. While watching the backside of this brother, he couldn't help but grimace as he thought about bouncing a nickel off it. Sam nodded and didn't notice Dean's eyes on him as he walked towards the front desk. Minutes later, he went over to the car and threw his duffle in the back of it before he got into the car.
Dean started up the car and they went down the interstate whilst blaring AC/DC's Back in Black. Catching a few glances at a none the wiser Sam made his stomach flutter with butterflies. God, this was getting pathetic.
After a while, Sam turned the music down a bit as he rambled all the information he had gathered while Dean had slept and ended with, "So, I'm thinking we should start at the old house the last victim was found at?"
