AN: I really enjoyed writing this first chapter. There should be way more Mileena/Tanya fanfics, especially since their relationship is canon. Now on with the story.

Mileena panted heavily as she trudged through the incredibly dense jungle. There were bugs everywhere. She was swatting them left and right just to keep them out of her face. She was wearing a very thin face mask due to the heat. She should be used to the heat since she was raised in Outworld, but she and her sister, Kitana were sweating just as badly as her other companions, Cassie, Sonya, and Johnny. Jax and his daughter Jacqui had also joined her and her reluctant allies in their trip. Cassie's girlfriend, Frost, had also accompanied them.
Mileena and Kitana had somewhat patched up their relationship. They were still working on being sisters. It was a work in progress.
It was nearly three weeks earlier she heard from Kano that the love of her life, Tanya, could very well be alive, she quite literally jumped at the chance to go in search of her. The Edenian woman was one of the few people who treated her love and respect instead of pure hate. Her heart broke into a million pieces when she was told her wife had died or rather murdered.
After spending several days looking for clues in Outworld and finding out next to nothing about Tanya's whereabouts, she finally went to the people she knew that would mostly be able to help her. At first, they didn't want to, but they soon realized how distraught Mileena really was, so they managed with Cassie's help, who beat Kronika and took over as the keeper of time. It was deduced that Tanya was somewhere in one of Outworld's jungles.
Mileena almost gasped out loud as she felt someone tap her on her shoulder. She turned to see that it was Cassie. She kept her eyes trained in front of her to stay focused on the task at hand, which was avoiding tripping on something, landing on her ass, and finding her wife.
"Cassie? I know that I'm not exactly the person you and your friends want to see right now because of our history, but I do appreciate that you're here helping me." Mileena said, the irony of the situation wasn't lost on her. While they weren't enemies anymore, they also were not on the best of terms, she was quite shocked when they said they'll help, her sister included. She was glad for the company they provided though.
"Mileena, we're here because we want to be. We all realized that you're not a bad person even though you've done bad things. You said that all you want is the one person who loved you back and we just want to help you do that. So, if there's anything you need, don't hesitate to ask." Cassie replied, meaning every word that she just said. What she didn't like was how fucking hot it was. At least she wasn't wearing that tight-ass catsuit. She did not want to think about how hot she would be if she had worn that instead of the pink, blue and white crop-top and shorts outfit she was currently wearing at that moment.
"That means a lot to me. I'll let you know whenever I come up with something. From what we found out, I think that we might actually be close to where Tanya is. According to the map we have, she should be close." Mileena stated, handing over the map to the other woman. She watched as her eyes traced over every single inch of it. After several seconds, Cassie gave the map back to her.
"You're right. We'll be there soon, as in less than four hours, soon. We might have to take a break, eat some food, rest for a little bit before getting back to it." Cassie explained. She got a nod in response. She told the rest of the group their idea, who quickly agreed to it as they were all hungry and tired. Several hours later, the seven of them continued towards where they thought that Tanya could very well be.

The group stopped right in front of an old building. After some serious discussion between the seven of them, Mileena, Kitana, Cassie, Frost, and Sonya would go inside while the rest of their group would stay outside and act as lookouts. None of them wanted to risk anything or anyone that they didn't need to.
Mileena and Kitana walked in front, while their friends were right behind them. It was cold, damp, and smelled like death inside of the place, very unlike how it was outside. Mileena was very used to the stench of death, but even she was quite close to gagging and throwing up. The five of them made their way through several rooms until they were all standing near a door, what looked like to her to be prison bars.
Mileena pushed the door open and it creaked loudly, making even her flinch in annoyance. She walked further into the room, her eyes had adjusted to the very low light. Which was why she gasped when she saw someone dressed in clothes similar to what she heard Tanya was last seen to be wearing. She ran towards the person, sinking to her knees, happy to see her beloved might very well be alive. It was Tanya. She just knew it because the person looked exactly like her. She began crying tears of happiness, she quickly wiped them away.
Cassie stepped forward, leaning down and checking for the other woman's pulse. Cassie let out a soft breath. She smiled softly as she turned to face Mileena and the other three women who were there with them.
"She's got a pulse. She's alive. Her breathing seems to be shallow though, so we really do need to get her out of here asap before she gets worse." Cassie said. She helped Mileena pick her up, but Mileena was adamant that she would be the one to carry her. Not that Cassie could actually blame her. She would do the same for Frost if she was in the same situation. The five of them retraced their steps, ending back outside to the rest of their friends.

As soon as they all arrived back in Earthrealm, Tanya was quickly taken to the on base infirmary. Mileend followed close behind her and doctors that were going to help her. A few hours later after Tanya's injuries had been fixed up and brought to a room, Mileena was sitting or rather sleeping in a chair next to the other woman's bed, holding her hand.
Cassie and her friends didn't want to disturb them, so they left them alone to give them some much-needed privacy. She hoped that things would turn out okay for them.
