Long ago, there was a mighty demon named Angra tried to conquer the world of men, but was stopped by the legendary knight Sparda and a man simply known as the Godhand Warrior, whose fists were so powerful people believed that they were the fists of God. Sparda and the Godhand Warrior fought Angor and banished him to the demon world, but Angra vowed he would one day return to take revenge and conquer the world of men. The Godhand Warrior and Sparda went their separate ways and a handful of Angra's minions piloted to raise their master up in secret and take over the human world.
