Hello readers! I hope you guys are enjoying yourselves. Now some of you must be wondering, why did I start a new story when I have two other unfinished works? It's because just like my DxD crossover, this was an idea that came into my mind and I didn't want to forget about it so I just started it. And tbh, I'm in sort of a writer's block with Natsu's Bizarre Adventure and DxD: King of the Kings. I promise that I will not abandon them but it'll take some time. I'm really sorry about that. Also, this will be a little darker than what I usually tend to write about. I was actually inspired to write this by The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I recently read the book and many ideas swam through my head for a new fic.
I ultimately chose Fairy Tail. If you are thinking about why do I write FT fics while it's not even in my top 5 favorite anime, it's because I feel like the actual storyline could've been better and I know that I'm not the only one who agrees with this. This is just my imagination I'm trying to share and I hope people will like it. Also about the slow updates, my school year started so that takes away a lot of the time. Plus, I recently got a part-time job, which tightens my schedule even more. I hope you guys understand and if I made you upset because of that, I would like to apologize. Now, without further ado, let's get started.
I do not own Fairy Tail.
Chapter 1
Fairy Tail Guild Hall, Magnolia, Fiore in X784:
In a large hall sat a group of wizards. Wizards were people that could utilize Magic using the energy in the atmosphere called Etherano. Magic came in very different forms and auras. Also, there were Magic variations that were very rare, which were called Lost Magic. This ability was used for good and evil. In the early years of the usage of Magic, wizards got together and formed their own teams. This process then led to the formation of guilds, where mages join and do different kinds of jobs to earn money, strengthen their guilds, and build their own reputations. Guilds that had mages using Magic for bad causes were known as Dark Guilds, who were also outlaws. These certain mages belonged to the strongest guild in Fiore, Fairy Tail.
They seemed very anxious for some reason and frowns were the most common expression on their faces. All of them seemed to be in good shape except for a pink-haired teen, whose face was very pale and it was evident that breathing was very tough for him currently. On his upper body was a black vest with gold trimmings that was unbuttoned and he had a pair of white baggy pants. He finished his garb with open-toed brown sandals and a white scaly scarf around his neck. His eyes were obsidian. He sat on a stool while his left arm was being supported by a 13-year-old girl. The girl's outfit consisted of a light green dress that reached her knees and a green bow on her short dark purple hair. Her eyes were a shade of green. The male's name was Natsu Dragneel, a Fire Dragon Slayer and the girl's name was Kinana, a recent member of the guild Fairy Tail, who lived most of her life as a pet snake due to someone's magic.
"Natsu, don't you think you should go back to the infirmary? They're probably running late because of some ship issues or something. Don't worry about it, you should take it easy," advised a female with medium-length hair in a ponytail with a red ribbon, which was colored lavender. Some strands were freely hanging in front of her forehead. She wore a light-colored coat and red tights. Her eyes were brown and over them, she wore a pair of glasses with oval lenses. She is the Wood Make mage of Fairy Tail, Laki Olietta.
"N-Nah, I'm fine," Natsu managed to get out.
"Forget it, ya already know the kid's too stubborn," chuckled a male, who had slicked-back dark blue hair and slight facial hair. His eyes were dark brown and he had a white knee-length coat over his black shirt and black slacks. He was a Fire mage of Fairy Tail and one of its veterans, Macao Conbolt.
Fairy Tail was having their S-Class Promotion Trial, where capable mages of the guild who weren't S-Class mages would be awarded a chance to become one through the exam. Due to this, most of the prominent mages of the guild were not present except for Natsu, who got sick due to a dark mage's potion in his previous mission. His guildmates could only grimace when Natsu let out several rough coughs while Kinana rubbed his back.
Their attention however was grabbed by the door slamming and the entrance of three individuals, of which only one was familiar to them. All three of them were out of breath and all of their hands were on their knees from exhaustion it seemed.
"Wendy? What's going on? Where's the master and the rest of the guys? And who are they?" questioned Bisca Connell, a woman with long green hair and a cowboy hat. She wore a black bikini and short shorts with knee-length cowboy boots. Her Gun Magic made her one of the best marksmen in Fiore.
"Jeez, give her a minute, would ya?" commented another senior mage. His brown hair was styled in a pompadour. He wore a black jacket with white fur, blue pants, and an orange shirt. This was Wakaba Mine, a Smoke Magic-user and unsurprisingly, a heavy smoker.
Instead of getting a reply, they saw the petite blue-haired Sky Dragon Slayer shaking, which raised Red Flags among them. Then she looked up and saw the look of devastation on her young face. Tears were streaming down her cheeks as she sniffled. The guests with her then decided to expose themselves. Both of them were females.
The taller and obviously older woman had dark purple hair, much darker than Kinana's. The eyes on her beautiful face were red. She wore red lipstick as well. She had on a tight-fitting white suit with black and gold designs and white tights with blue stripes, which showed off her great figure. Only one of the Fairy Tail mages were able to recognize her.
The shorter girl was very young, around the same age as Kinana, give or take a year. Her eyes were green and her bright pink hair was short. She wore earmuffs with attached golden wing ornaments. She had a purple long-sleeved suit under her red cloak and black shorts with knee-length purple battle boots.
Both of the newcomers had a regretful and pitied expressions on their faces. Wendy finally gained courage and managed to answer.
"T-T-They're all gone! W-We were attacked!" she spoke.
"W-What're you talking about?" Laki frowned.
"The Black Dragon of Apocalypse, Acnologia. You must've heard that name somewhere, right?" the dark-haired female asked.
"That's from hundreds of years ago! Are you implying that Acnologia attacked our mages?" Macao exploded.
"Wendy was the only one that survived. The rest of your comrades...I'm really sorry to say this, but they are no more," silence filled the hall as soon as the same woman finished. No one said a word for a few moments until the sick mage decided to break the ice.
"Y-You! I- agh! I-I know you, I recognize your scent. I d-don't remember, but you're giving, agh! You are g-giving me bad v-vibes," Natsu glared at the woman while coughing between his words.
"You're correct. I'm Ultear Milkovich but you might recognize me as Zalty from Galuna Island. I am responsible for manipulating Jellal Fernandes. This girl is Meredy, my adopted daughter and guildmate. We're are also a part of Grimoire Heart, a dark guild that attacked Fairy Tail in Tenrou Islan prior to Acnologia's appearance," the rage was clear as day on Natsu's face and before he could advance, the ill state of his body caused him to collapse on the ground as he coughed.
"Wendy, what's the meaning of this?!" Laki demanded as aided Natsu on getting back to his feet, who still kept his menacing glare at the duo.
"T-They are g-good p-p-people," Wendy answered as the tears came out freely.
"Please, let us explain first," Ultear begged.
A couple of days ago at Tenrou Island:
They did it again. With the strength of the strong bond they shared, they were able to overcome their adversaries yet again. Grimoire Heart was the toughest opponent they faced up to date. Even though it was a team effort, this hard-fought battle wouldn't have been gained without the appearance of Laxus Dreyer, the grandson of Fairy Tail's master and a former member. His former bodyguards were ecstatic to reunite with him, but his grandfather didn't feel the same way. Thus the Lightning Dragon Slayer was being scolded by Makarov Dreyer for stepping his foot on a Fairy Tail property.
Among the mages, you could easily notice the injuries they gained, the ones in a grievous state being Gajeel Redfox, Mirajane Strauss, Gray Fullbuster, the Guild Master himself. Wendy was added into the equation due to the fact that she had used up all of her Etherano to assist in fixing up her teammates despite being low on it from the start. This led to the Titania of Fairy Tail, Erza Scarlet, to take over the role of the young Sky Dragon Slayer although her methods were much less appreciated.
"Heh, I'm so happy right now. Once we get back, I'm gonna rub it in Flame-Brain's face that we beat one of the strongest dark guilds in Earthland's history and we didn't even need him," spoke out a man in just his boxers. His blue Fairy Tail mark was on his right pectoral. He had a chain with a cross around his neck. His raven-colored hair was spiky. This was Gray Fullbuster, the Ice-Make Mage of Fairy Tail.
"Gehe! Finally, something I can agree with you on," replied a male with red eyes, face piercings, and black slicked-back spiky hair. His gray vest was almost torn to shreds and his black pants and brown boots didn't look much better either. Gajeel Redfox, the Iron Dragon-Slayer of Fairy Tail held a smirk while thinking out loud.
"Trying to insinuate something, Metal Face?" Gray butted heads with the Dragon Slayer.
"You bet I do, Stripper!" Gajeel retorted. However, a third party chopped both of their necks, and it caused both of them to drop down to the floor.
"Are you done?" an upset female voice questioned. She had dark brown eyes and beautiful scarlet hair. She had on a nurse's outfit while sporting bandages in some areas of her body. Erza Scarlet was glaring down at the two mages, who shook under her gaze.
"Y-Yes, ma'am!" was the instant reply that she received.
"I hope Natsu is doing okay. He was looking forward to the trials too. Poor guy…" shared a girl with short white hair. Her eyes were bright blue. She currently had a yellow t-shirt and a pair of pink shorts. This was Lisanna Strauss, the Fairy Tail mage that recently came back from the "dead".
"You're right. He'll be back on his feet in no time! This is Natsu we're talking about," added on a very beautiful woman. Her hair was the same color as Lisanna but longer with a short ponytail on top of her head. Her eyes were also blue. Mirajane Strauss was the older sister of Lisanna Strauss and also known as the Demon of Fairy Tail.
"Aye! Then we'll go fishing again!" happily said an Exceed named Happy, who had blue fur and white wings. His statement got a few mages around him to giggle.
Simply, the Mages of Fairy Tail were taking a much-deserved rest. It wouldn't be long before they take off, leaving without completing the trials. Makarov assured them that they will do it again but a couple of weeks later. Everyone needed to recuperate and the guild members understood. They will go home, throw a huge party, and then come back for the tests. Maybe even Natsu will be able to participate by that time.
However, fate had a different plan for these mages.
ROAR!
Everyone froze in their tracks. Many thought it was their imagination but after catching the looks of those around them, they realized that their minds were not playing tricks on them. The old man was the first to turn around. At first, all he could spot was a black dot. What worried him though was the fact that it seemed to be approaching them. Soon, the black dot transformed into something that could be recognized. Makarov's blood ran cold at the discovery and the rest that were present followed suit.
'A dragon?!' is what went through everyone's mind.
The dragon was huge. Its whole body was filled with pitch-black scaled except for the portion from the chin to the pelvis area. On its arms, legs, wings, and back, there were spiraling blue marks. The Fairy Tail mages were filled with dread when the dragon let out another roar, much more threatening this time. As it got closer, the master's and Gildarts' eyes widened in recognition.
"Alright, brats? This is my last order as the guild master! Ya get your asses off of this island and run home right now! Comply with this old man's last wish!" Makarov shouted while using his Titan Magic to become almost the same size as the black dragon.
"What the hell are sprouting, geezer?" a shocked Laxus asked along with many others that had the same expression as him.
"That's Acnologia, the Dragon King! He took me out like a fly when I ran into him! Even I am afraid of this guy! All of you get the hell outta here while Master and I try to give you some time!" Gildarts appeared next to Makarov as he explained.
"What? No way! I'm a Dragon Slayer and I ain't goin' without slaying that thing!" Gajeel yelled while Laxus nodded.
"You idiots! You stand no chance! Now hurry up before he gets here! You too, Gildarts!" the desperation in the Master's voice was clear. Now the mages understood that Makarov was serious. Some of the wizards began to let their tears out as they realized what was happening. Cana's heart was breaking at the thought of losing her father. Laxus felt the same for his grandfather but he didn't show it. With heavy hearts, the young mages turned around and followed what seemed to be his last command.
The Black Dragon of Apocalypse finally reached the island. He flew directly towards the Titan Magic-user, who put all of his strength holding the dragon back. Gildarts took the opportunity to use his Crash Magic on the new opponent. However, their combined effort managed to do nothing in terms of damaging Acnologia. The Dragon King let out another blood-curdling roar before slightly increasing his efforts, which was noticed by the grimace held by the Ace of Fairy Tail and the guild master being pushed back.
"Lightning Dragon's Roar!"
"Iron Dragon's Roar!"
"Demon Blast!"
"Ice Blade: Seven Slice Dance!"
"Black Wing Armor: Moon Flash!"
Suddenly, 5 different Magic attacks collided against Acnologia's body. Then more and more Magic attacks followed after that. Gildarts and Makarov widened their eyes at the return of the mages.
"Master, we protect our friends whenever danger shows up! That's what Fairy Tail represents! Using the force of our camaraderie against whoever wishes to harm us!" Erza yelled while the tears freely ran through her cheeks.
"That's what you taught us, master! Now we are putting your teaching into action!" Gray followed up after the red-haired knight's exclamation.
"Brats…" even the master was crying now.
The dragon seemed to have enough and flew upwards. It then stopped and gathered a blast of Etherano on its open mouth. The mages knew that this was over and as an act of the last stand, they held each other's hand in a circular order except for Wendy, who passed out right before the mages made a break for it. Gajeel managed to put her on a slab of rock and got her out of the island before they decided to fight the dragon. As the sky got brighter, every single mage had a smile on their faces, reflecting upon the best memories they made with each other.
BOOM!
With that, these Fairy Tail mages and Tenrou Island was no more.
In a boat, Ultear and Meredy were hugging each other. Ultear realized how much her adoptive daughter cares for her. While on their bonding time, Ultear noticed a slab of rock nearing the boat and her eyes widened when she saw Wendy laid over it.
"M-Meredy…" she groaned.
"W-What's wrong, Ul?" in return, she received a hand pointing behind her. When she turned around, she also was surprised.
"That's-" however, the Time Mage interrupted her.
"G-Get her on the b-boat," Meredy hesitated for a bit but nodded nonetheless.
Present, Fairy Tail Guild Hall:
Almost all of the mages were crying, including the Fire Dragon Slayer. All of their hearts were broken and they were basically hopeless. They lost their close and strongest friends along with the Master. Now, who will lead the guild, they wondered. Everyone however looked at Natsu when he stood up, struggling to move his feet towards the door while his eyes were shadowed by his pink locks.
"Natsu, you're still in bad shape! You can't go out right now!" Macao yelled while crying but that didn't seem to stop the Dragon Slayer. He passed by Wendy, Ultear, and Meredy. The former dark mages tensed but he didn't even bat them a look. Right before he stepped out, he spoke in an authoritative voice.
"Treat their injuries. Let Ultear and Meredy stay in our infirmary. And don't come looking for me, I'll be back by tomorrow," he then limped out of the guild.
"Natsu, what about your medic…" Kinana realized that he was already gone.
The next day came very quickly. In the morning, despite the depressed state they were in, they voted Macao as the next Guild Master. They knew that it had to be done as soon as possible or a guild without an active Master could be disbanded by the Magic Council. The guild was already on thin ice with them. Some of the members were still not trusting the two guests so that was an issue as well.
There was also the fact that they were holding two dark mages, although formerly, in their guild house. Maybe Meredy could get away with it but that wasn't the case with Ultear. She betrayed the Magic Council, who already had an unbearable ego. And Grand Doma was a very strict man. He wouldn't grasp this opportunity to shut Fairy Tail off for good. Some mages were thinking of a story for an excuse but nothing seemed to be working right now.
And to their fears, the Rune Knights along with two high-ranking officials appeared on their door around noon. One of them was receiving many glares and dirty looks. He just looked down on the ground and accepted them as he felt like he deserved it.
"Mest, oh I am sorry. Doranbolt was it?" Macao spat out.
"I'm so sorry guys. I tried my be- Wendy!?" he suddenly shouted when he saw the young girl, who held a frown.
"She is the only one that returned," Wakaba explained. Doranbolt began walking towards the Sky Dragon Slayer with a smile but he was soon stopped by the mages that got ready to attack him.
"Don't even, you filthy traitor!" Max yelled. Doranbolt stopped and looked away in shame.
"Fairy Tail, you must've heard what happened on Tenrou Island?" Lahar spoke. When he didn't receive any form of an answer, he knew that they were aware of it.
"We're sorry for your loss. Fairy Tail has been known to be destructive, but you are the reason as to why many of the dangers we've had over the last couple of years were taken out. However, we must stick to the rules. You have a week to submit the documents for the election of a new guild master. If it's not done by the deadline, Fairy Tail will be no more," as soon as Lahar finished, Wakaba threw a bunch of papers at him.
"I see…" Lahar spoke and after putting the papers away, his eyes hardened.
"Now I've heard a rumor that two females were seen in Magnolia and one of them seemed to match the description of someone we are looking for. Care to tell me any info on this?" this question got most of the mages to sweat.
"Yes, Ultear is here," a voice spoke to their shock. The owner of it was none other than Natsu Dragneel, who stood on the door while still looking a bit pale.
"Natsu Dragneel, do you know that hiding a fugitive could get you in a lot of trouble?" Lahar glared at the pink-haired male as the Rune Knights got in a battle stance.
"I don't care about that. Ultear was actually a spy on Grimoire Heart. She originally was a Fairy Tail mage," his statement caught everyone off guard, including the two hiding mages in the upper level.
"What're you saying? Care to explain?" demanded the Council member.
"When she was younger, Ultear was in trouble because of some dark mages. Master saved her and in return, she has been spying on Grimoire Heart, whose Master was the former Master of Fairy Tail named Precht Gaebolg but he went by Hades. When she betrayed the Magic Council, she chose her friends, Fairy Tail, over them. She didn't like it a bit and didn't want her cover blown by Hades, that's why she followed his orders. Ultear has an adoptive daughter with her as well, who would have also had a place to call home once Grimoire Heart was taken down. We didn't know about Grimoire Heart's plan since it was at the last minute. You might be wondering how I know? It's because of my Dragon Slayer hearing, I heard the Master speaking with her through a communication lacrima. Once I confronted him about it, he told me everything. The S-Class mages and I are the only ones who know about this," after Natsu finished his story, his comrades couldn't believe it. How did the idiotic mage come up with such a story?
"Why do I feel like I'm missing something here?" Lahar stated.
"It's true, I've seen it in the memories of Makarov," this time, it was Natsu's turn to be surprised as Doranbolt added to his bullshit.
"Fine, we'll let the authority know about this and come back with their decision. Just to let you know, I'll be personally keeping my eyes on you. Farewell," Lahar turned around and walked out along with the guards following him. Doranbolt did the same but he stopped by Natsu before getting out.
"I don't know why you are helping them, but it must be for a good reason. That's what I've learned from you guys. So good luck and take care," he whispered before leaving.
"Natsu, are you out of your damn mind!?" the newly appointed Guild Master yelled.
"What else did you want me to do? Did you guys come up with something better?" no one had anything to say to that.
"How did you even come up with that?" Bisca asked the teen.
"I read a similar story in a book once," once again, the whole guild was stunned.
"YOU READ?" basically everyone shouted. Natsu's irritation grew at their reactions.
"Yeah, but only like once," he replied. After that, a pair of footsteps approached him. It was Ultear and Meredy.
"Why? Why did you stand up for us?" Ultear looked directly into his eyes.
"Tch. Who knows where Wendy would've ended up if it wasn't for you? Just think of it as repayment or whatever," Meredy was seen crying while Ultear's eyes watered up.
"B-But I am such an evil woman! W-W-Why did you also help me and not only Meredy! I-I committed so many sins and-"
"SHUT IT!" everyone flinched at Natsu's shout.
"Look, I'm not in the mood to hear your sob story. If ya did bad stuff in the past, I don't know, just make up for it by doing good for the people from now on or something like that," he left the stunned Ultear and Meredy and walked up to Kinana, who broke out of her stupor.
"Get me my meds will ya?" Natsu asked and Kinana hurried off to find them.
I hope you liked the intro. If you think I could've improved this in any way or you have an issue with this, please leave a review or PM me.
