A/N: hey guys, this is the bothering me for like 4 months maybe longer so I'm just going to write it on here before I burst. Can you guys tell me if there's something here because I have no idea but the idea just would not shut up and I was trying really hard not to add one more story until I closed one. But my imagination would not have it that way. However, I do think that "My Angel & I" and "Dinner & Dessert" are almost over.

I'm hoping this is a One-Shot. But the way my imagination is screaming so I don't think so but it might just be something short. Anyway…here we go… I'm hoping this is not going to be a long chapter so yeah definitely probably not a One-Shot lol I just can't win…

R/R & ENJOY!

Lauren – Afternoon

"Locked on targets." I stated as I was waiting for my shoot-to-kill order with my sniper rifle ready to go on one of two targets. "Damn it, I told you to wait, Lewis!"

"We don't have time, Tamsin. Let me take them both out now and free the hostages. I know we're not partners anymore since this is the first day as Captain for you, but you know I need to take the shots now. If I take the shots now, we can free the hostages and this shit will be over."

"Dammit Lauren I said no. The governor's daughter is in there and she doesn't want to take any unnecessary risks. You went up to that rooftop adjacent to the high school without authorization. So, you're already in hot water. So, do not take shots. I repeat, do not take the shots. That's an order. Former partner/occasional fuck-buddy/forever best friend or not."

"Damn, we need a shorter label, Cap." I joked as I tuned her out as I saw through my scope that things were quickly escalating in that small classroom. A student appears to be having an asthma attack, making the two targets nervous. Both of the targets had their fingers on the triggers of their guns with no trigger control whatsoever. The worse the girl's asthma got, the more nervous they got.

I was sure of it. One or, both of them is about to pull their triggers any second now. I had to act now. I couldn't wait for instructions any further or I guarantee someone's about to die.

"Fuck this." I had the first target in sight through my scope and pulled out my 9mm service pistol for the second target after I took out the first one with the sniper rifle shot.

I took both shots as close to simultaneously as one could get, successfully taking both targets down and causing the rest of the law enforcement officers on site to rush in the building. "Dammit Lauren! I told you not to take those shots. I know those shots came from your firearms!"

"They were about to shoot a hostage for having an asthma attack. Relax, both the morons are alive. However, they do need immediate medical attention especially the one that took the sniper shot."

"Fuck Lauren, I'm getting an earful from the damn governor for the risk that you just took without any authorization. Head back to the precinct and report directly to my office now. I'll meet you there after I'm done calming her down if I can. You really fucked up this time, Lewis."

"I saved her precious daughter along with a group of other hostages and this is the thanks I get? What bullshit!"

"Shut it, Lauren. Clean up your mess up there and then meet back at the precinct."

"Whatever…"

25 Minutes Later – 69th Precinct – Captain's Office

"I kno-…Yes, but with all due respect, ma'a-…Yes, bu- yes, I understand…"

I've been sitting here for like the last 10 minutes listening to Tamsin getting chewed out by the governor over the phone. Based on the look of irritation, wincing and annoyance on her face. This time I'm not going to get away with my insubordination.

This time I'm in trouble for sure.

Tamsin slammed the phone down once she was hung up on.

"You really did it this time, Lauren. Even though everything turned out okay and there were no fatalities today she looked at your file and saw all the times you took things into your own hands and got away with it. She wants your badge. Permanently. She sees you as reckless and she believes that sooner or later you're going to go rogue. She says you're a liability because you consistently act like you're still over in Iraq on the battlefield, fighting to survive and protect on a daily basis and until you realize that you're not in a war zone over here you should not have a badge."

"So, I'm fired?" I asked, in which she just sighed in return. "Clearly, you weren't paying very close attention to the end of that mostly one-sided phone call of me getting my ass chewed out because of you. I was able to save your badge however…"

Aw crap…She kind of has that "my puppy just died" look. "However...? However, what?"

"You're suspended indefinitely without pay unless you agree to see the precinct psychologist. If you do that, the governor has agreed to let you have 75% of your pay while you see the psychologist but…Other than that you're still suspended until the psychologist says you're good to go and then the governor will consider letting you become fully reinstated. Sorry Laur, it's the best I could do."

I gave Tamsin a small smile as I stood up from my seat in front of her desk to leave her office and pack up my stuff. "It's not your fault, Tamsin. I will see the stupid psychologist but only because I need my money like everyone else in this world. Thanks for doing what you could because if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't even have that 75%. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go pack up my desk and then go job-hunting to make up for that 25%. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up making more than just the 25%. See ya later, Valkyrie."

Tamsin rolled her eyes at the nickname she's had since we meet in the military over in Iraq. "Stop calling me that." I shook my head with a smirk as I looked at her once more before I walked out of her office. "Nope, it's your nickname for life. Valkyrie."

15 Minutes Later

I put my box of desk stuff in the back of my red Lexus before I got in the front seat, prompting my phone to call Vex through the car's Bluetooth as I drove out of the precinct parking lot.

"Hey killer, how ya doing, luv?"

"I could be better. Long story short, I was suspended for doing the right thing. So, I am actually calling because I could use your help. How's your bodyguarding business thingy doing?"

Vex chuckled, "It's doing quite well now that it's finally off its feet and got some recognition. So, is it safe to assume that you're coming to me for a job?"

"Hole in one, Vex. Any chance you can help me out?"

"Let's just say that life is really funny sometimes. Honestly, I was thinking about ya earlier today and wanting to ask ya for a favor. I have a rather big client that has been targeted more than usual for someone in the Limelight so they're…Well, not they directly but their agent is coming to me for private security. The agent wants a full-time personal bodyguard for their client whether their client wants one or not. And from what I understand she doesn't want one, but the agent is understandably cautious. So, based on all that I need somebody that can watch over somebody without making their own presence known since she doesn't want a bodyguard. I mean you're going to get introduced one way or the other but I'm saying if she says to you to go away for awhile then I know you'll tell her you'll do that and only to make it look like you have. I need someone that can be invisible, fast, cold, smart, distant, violent when necessary and overprotective. I need someone that I trust above all else and I can't think of anyone but you. This job doesn't have a timetable it's going to be ongoing indefinitely and if your other job calls you back or you don't want to do it anymore then we can have you replaced with somebody else whenever you want. And I'll make sure monetary wise that you're taken care of especially because you're my friend. But I take care of all my employees regardless just so you know. So, what do ya say?"

"Well, I need a job to make up for my monetary loss. So, I'm in. When do I start and who is my unwilling client?"

"You're starting right now. I'm sending you her address right now along with your contract and a confidentiality contract. Both of which obviously need to be signed by you."

"Okay, I'll head there and sign those as soon as the e-mail comes through. So, again, who's the unwilling client?"

"Elite Socialite/Actress, Ysabeau McCorrigan. Have fun, sending ya the e-mail now. Thanks, I owe ya big, you'll see a generous sign-on bonus deposited into your bank account within the next 48 hours. Ta!"

"No, wait! I hate Socialites and celebrities! Vex!? Hello!?" That asshole hung up on me real quick knowing how much I hate superficial spoiled brats…

Ugh…

"Hey Google, tell me about Ysabeau McCorrigan." Google is not my go-to choice for recon. But it's the best I can do while I'm driving with white knuckles due to my distaste for rich brats.

"Here's what I found on Ysabeau McCorrigan."

20 Minutes Later – Ysabeau McCorrigan's Hotel Suite

Well, according to Google she's just like any other rich celebrity. Thinks she's the center of the universe and likes to party a lot. It's actually because of the very hard partying that she's gathered a pretty intense stalker from what I understand.

So, I'm not sure if I want to punch this stalker for making me watch her 24/7 or thank him for giving me a job on a silver platter just when I needed it most.

Okay, time to knock on this door that screams luxurious…

The door was whipped open almost immediately by my one and only client. I'm actually extremely surprised that she opened her own door. Though, I got to admit that she's beautiful, even with damp, long brunette hair. Also, she's wearing nothing but a very inviting-looking shower towel which internally threw me off slightly.

Just slightly…

…And she looks as thrilled by my presence as I am to be here.

I quickly cleared my throat and extended my hand to introduce myself. "Hello, I'm Lauren Lewis, your new personal bodyguard aka your new shadow. May I come in?"

Ysabeau's face was kind of hard to read as time seemed to stop while we were in her doorway. Then, it seemed like she finally registered what I said and blinked to my hand from my eyes and then back to my eyes again.

And when she spoke it was not at all what I expected…

"TRICK! I told you I didn't want a personal bodyguard watching me 24/7 just because I have a stalker situation and some other crap!" She yelled to somebody in the room, assumingly named Trick.

She then quickly looked at me in the eyes again and said something somewhat unexpectedly again. This time it to me instead of someone in the suite with her. "Thanks for coming, but you're fired. Bye."

And…She shut the door in my face. I sighed, I guess we're doing this the hard way. But I got to say, that was an interesting first encounter.

Also, luckily for me, Tamsin forgot to confiscate my badge. I'll give it to her later. But as for now I'm not one to waste resources.

So…let's get the maid coming out of the opposite suite to open this door for me, shall we? I approached her with confidence like I always do with anybody, quickly flashing my badge at her for her look at before I told her what I needed.

"Ma'am, could you open the suite behind me? I'm responding to an odd noise complaint and they're not opening the door. I just want to make sure they're okay."

The older light-skinned woman smiled at me with a nod as she immediately went to open the door with her master keycard. "Sure. No problem. Here you are…"

She unlocked the door and I replaced her hand on the handle with my own so, it wouldn't lock again. "Do you need me to alert anyone for you like the manager?" I flashed her a quick smile and gave her a $20 from my blue Demi jeans back pocket.

"No, thank you, ma'am. I'm pretty sure everything is okay, but I just want to make sure that I'm right. If I need anyone, I will let them know myself. Have a good night ma'am and thank you again."

The lady gave me a farewell nod and then I proceeded into the luxury suite. As soon as I clicked the door shut behind me Ysabeau came into the room from another room, likely her bedroom.

Still wearing nothing but a towel…

I crossed my arms and smirked at her surprised face which quickly changed to a glaring, angry face with her beautiful brown eyes shooting daggers at me as I leaned against her door.

Huh, interesting…I've never had so much fun irritating somebody until right now…

"Ya know…shutting the door in my face almost hurt my feelings. Almost…Now, wanna try that introduction again, Ysabeau?"
