I don't own InuyashA or any of its characters. None whatsoever. Ima say that now for future reference I am not gunna get sued. Same for any celebrity I put in here and their movie/tv show. I'm rewriting their lives as well.
I read over 200 inuyasha fanfics in a little over a year. Reread most of what I already have previously. And so I got inspired for this. It's my first go so please be nice. I don't mind some criticism but nothing just down right awful.
So let's begin!
PINK.
It was a color of the blanket that was wrapped tightly around the baby behind the glass. The nurse just finished placing her there giving the family a chance to see her alone.
"Why is it a girl? I was told I was getting a little brother." The now middle child Sota turned and shot death glares towards his godparents. Toga and Izayoi Takahashi just kept Neutral faces in place staring at the small child.
The oldest Higurashi child Kai turned around to look at them as well. Back facing his new little sister. But his face was one of confusion. "I thought all Higurashi's were born boys. That's what chichi said."
Both adults looked at each other then. Not knowing what to say. For it was true. No female had been born in the Higurashi family in over 500 years. They knew the Higurashi lineage for they were there for all of them throughout the centuries.
"Sweetie, we don't know why the kami gave you a sister, but don't look a gift horse in the mouth." Izayoi smiled brightly towards the two boys.
"Your Okasan is correct. Males might have been in your family up till now, but you my boys will get to live a life that none have had the privilege to do in over 500 years. You will be great big brothers to her. Protect her. Teach her. Grow with her. It will be an experience that should be cherished." Toga spoke with great conviction to the two.
Everyone once again turned to the little bundle in the bed. She hadn't opened her eyes yet but she already had little stands of raven hair poking through the pink cap on her head. All four couldn't help but smile when she yawned showing them her gums.
"Well I guess a sister isn't so bad." Sota said, mesmerized by the little girl.
"Yeah, might even be fun." Kai agreed.
"Well let's get back to the others. If I know Rin she's just just bouncing with readiness to meet this one." Izayoi said.
They all took one last glance at the little girl that already held a special place in their hearts.
When they walked towards the waiting area all eyes suddenly became focused on them.
Rin ran up towards Toga and Izayoi excitement just radiating off her in waves. "Can we go see him now! Oh please oh please oh please!" She clasped her hands in front of her face and turned her best puppy eyes towards them.
Toga was shaking with laughter at her display of childness. "Yes Rin, all of you may go see the baby now. But you will be in for a nice surprise when you do." The men in the room raised a questioning brow to the monarch of the family.
"A surprise?! Really!? Come on Ayame! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go! Times a wastin!" And she was suddenly gone from everyone's view.
"I think she was more excited than Asako and Akio. And it's their baby!" A man named Hiten stated before wrapping his arms around his wife and Mate, Kagura. Everyone started heading towards the direction Rin ran off too.
"Sometimes, Sesshomaru, your mate acts more like Kai's age of 8 than her actual 518 year old self." Inuyasha said shaking his head at his sister in law's antics.
"Hn. I couldn't agree with you more little brother. But this Sesshomaru will never admit to saying as such."
Once everyone made it to the hall where they knew a new member of their large family was; what they saw made them snicker. Rin's face and hands were pressed against the glass and she was standing on her tiptoes to try and find the best angle.
"Having problems Rin?" Yura teased.
Rin turned her head and stuck her tongue out to the woman who was to her left. "I can't seem to find him. There are two boys and a girl in there, but I the boys are demons so something isn't right." She said huffy.
Everyone finally made it to the glass to catch a peek.
"What makes you say their demons rin?" Kohaku spoke up behind her unable to see what she was seeing.
"I don't know. Could it be the black tails or claws? Or maybe their fangs?" She bit back sarcastically to him and any others who had doubts.
Everyone looked to see two twin black tails going back and forth nearly missing the other. One of the boys was screaming and you could see his baby fangs from there.
"Well if they are demons then it can't be them." Koga piped up agitated.
"No shit wolf. Took ya a minute. " Inuyasha replied to him.
"What did you say to me Mutt face?!" Koga growled getting closer to Inuyasha.
"Boys! Enough!" Miroku appeared beside them pinching the bridge of his nose, eyes closed, taking in a deep breath. "Did it ever occur to anyone that it's the girl we're supposed to be seeing?" He said to no one in particular.
In a flash sixteen pairs of eyes turned wide eyed to the little girl. She had her face scrunched up, looking like she was in pain from the little boy's cries.
"Kami! Why didn't we notice the name before." Shippo face palmed himself for his stupidity. On one of the sides of her basket read Higurashi.
"She's so tiny." Kanna said in awe.
"So this is the surprise that Toga was speaking about." Naraku said to no one in particular.
"She is so adorable." Kikyo stated. She leaned into Naraku and he shifted to pull her in closer.
Everyone started to smile towards the little girl wrapped in a pink blanket. Girls in awe of the little girl and the boys in a state of disbelief.
"I thought all Higurashi's were men. Like seriously is there something we're missing here?" Shippo piped up at what was going on through all the males minds at the moment.
"Who cares? We will love her just as much as if she were a boy." Kagura said, giving the men a look stating "just try and prove me wrong".
"Whoa whoa whoa no one is saying she isn't going to be loved just as much as if she were a boy. Shippo was just asking what was on people's minds." Hiten took a step back away from his mate, hands held up in a defense.
"I suggest dropping the matter altogether. It's not like it changes things." Bankotsu crossed his arms over his chest still staring at the little girl.
"Keh, I'm with Bank On this one." Inuyasha put his two cents into the topic at hand.
"Oh My I can't wait!" Rin squilled causing the others to flinch at her pitch. "I can't wait to dote on her. And Sango can teach her to fight. And Yura can do her hair. And Kagura you can do her makeup. And Kanna can play with dolls with her. Not to mention all the dress up we can do!"
"Rin she hasn't even been alive for 2 hours. Chill." Hiten told her.
"Hey I'm a planner. I can't help it. GUYS A GIRL! Can you believe it? We finally have a little girl in the family." Ring gushed at the mere mention.
"Rin, mate, calm yourself." Sesshomaru then pulled her back into him. Arm wrapped in front of her just below her chin. Putting his chin on top of her head.
"This child is going to be so loved." Sango sighed. Smiling down at the little one.
Everyone kept staring and smiling at the little one. Then it was like she knew she was being watched. Her eyes popped open to reveal A light brown color that held a darker flake in them. She stared back at them. Eyes roaming over her new family. Once she felt satisfied with what she saw she smiled and went back over their facing once more before fluttering her eyes closed once more.
"Well I think she has Asako's eyes." Sango whispered softly. As if she would wake the little girl up.
"Couldn't agree more my dear." Miroku chimed in.
Suddenly a man in a white coat started towards them. Clipboard in hand and a smile that could just split his face in two.
"Hey guys. I see you met our new little princess huh?" Stopping just at the edge of the glass window beside Bankotsu. He took a peek at her and smiled.
"Yeah. How's Asako doing by the way Suikotsu?" Ayame turned to their lifelong friend.
"She's actually doing really well. Kaede is with her right now. Double checking that everything's fine. But you should have seen Akio when he found out he had a daughter. Almost passed out before a nurse could get him to a seat." Suikotsu started to chuckle thinking back to the delivery room. Akio's shock was prominent on his face.
"Oh I bet it was a sight to see brother." Bankotsu started to bring Suikotsu into a headlock, messing his hair around.
"I think we should all have a talk on what's to come of this new member." Sesshomaru's tone was hard yet held a gentle quality that no one heard unless he was addressing his mate or mothers.
"Kagome. Kagome Sakura Higurashi." Suikotsu made the comment. Letting it sink into the group.
"Kagome." Was repeated by Sesshomaru with a nod.
"I agree." Naraku commented.
"I agree as well." Hiten chimed in.
"Keh." Was all Inuyasha would say.
"Then it's settled. I shall speak to father before we leave. It will be tonight at the house in the boardroom." Finality held in Sesshomaru's voice.
"I think we should probably start heading back." Shiori said while looking between her mate,Shippo and the little girl.
Some nodded in understanding, others simply turned to walk. But they all knew. This little girl, Kagome, was going to be important to them.
