"Are you my mummy?"
As soon as the words left his mouth, the Doctor's stomach dropped and his eyes widened when he suddenly found himself falling.
Landing with a grunt, the Time Lord let out a groan as he raised his head to look around, frowning when he found himself in a desert of all places.
"What in Rassilon's name is going on," he muttered as he pushed himself to his feet; brushing the sand from his clothes. "Raven!" he suddenly called as he looked around once more as he pulled the gasmask off his face, "Raven, I know it was you!"
It was the only cognitive thing he could think of.
And it was definitely something the assassin would do.
"Over here?" he heard a familiar voice behind him and turned around, only to find swirling black hole.
"Well, come on," Raven continued, her voice sounding a little muffled since it was coming from the other side of the portal, "Can't keep it open all day."
Looking around, the Time Lord sighed, knowing that he didn't really have much of a choice.
With a heavy sigh, the Doctor stepped through the portal, blinking rapidly as he stepped out the other side and into what looked to be some sort of underground chamber.
"Raven! What on Earth is going on?" he hissed the moment he spotted the white-haired assassin and stormed over to her.
He didn't have time for any of her games.
He had to save the Earth.
Again...
"Shh!" the assassin whispered harshly as she clamped a hand over the Doctor's mouth and tugged him closer to the shadows she had been hiding in.
"Wha-!"
"Shh!" the platinum blonde's grip tightened slightly, "You'll give us away!"
The Time Lord just glared at her.
Raven studied his face for a moment before her hand moved away from his mouth and she let him go.
"I'm waiting for someone," she stated quietly as she glanced around the corner and further down the chamber.
"Who?" the Doctor enquired in frustration, though kept his tone low.
Raven looked to the Time Lord, wondering what she should tell him. But a grin broke over her face at the sight of the gasmask in his hand.
"Oh, you brought it!" she exclaimed, somehow still keeping her voice quiet, "Awesome. Now, put it on. Quickly," she demanded, earning herself a frown from the Doctor. "Oh, come on," she whined, "What you're about to see is a once in a lifetime... Okay, maybe not. But I brought a camera and this time is really wanted to get a picture for my scrapbook."
An eyebrow raised as the Doctor stared at the assassin. "You have a scrapbook?" he asked.
"Of course I do," the platinum blonde scoffed, "Who doesn't?" She motioned to the gasmask, "Now, come on. He's almost here."
"Who?" the Doctor asked, but Raven just snatched the gasmask off him and placed it over hie head.
Right on time too, as the door further down the chamber suddenly blew open and a man wearing garbs that would have suited the Ancient Egypt era strolled through the doors.
The Doctor's eyes widened behind his mask when he recognised the man.
"How?" he whispered in awe to the assassin grinning beside him, though he didn't take his eyes away from the newcomer.
Sure, he may have mentioned that he always had one question to ask a mummy if he ever met one since his trip during the Second World War. But the Doctor had never imagined that Raven would ever give him the opportunity.
"Don't ask me that, just get out there," the assassin told him, a smug smirk on her face before she gave him a shove that sent him stumbling into the room and gaining the newcomers attention. "Consider it an early Christmas present," she added as she fished around her coat-slash-wings for her camera.
The Doctor managed to regain his balance, and his face lit up like a child on Christmas when he found himself face to face with Imhotep.
"Who are you?" the mummy demanded as he looked the Time Lord up and down; his gaze questioning as he took in the mask the Doctor was wearing.
"Hurry up, Doc!" Raven's voice hissed as she lined up a shot, "We need to go before O'Connell gets here."
"You know, I've wanted to do this for so long now," the Doctor said as Imhotep looked confusingly between the Time Lord and assassin, "But... are you my mummy?" he questioned – just as there was a flash of Raven's camera as she took a picture.
The mummy let out a roar at the sudden flash, and Raven was quick to tuck her camera away and grab the Doctor's jacket before pushing him through a black hole and back to the sandy desert above.
"I can't believe I did that," the Doctor remarked as he removed the mask off his head once more; a big, face-splitting grin on his face.
"Thought you might like it," Raven replied rather smugly as she looked at the photo she had taken. "And it turned out perfectly," she added, showing the screen to the Doctor.
"I want a copy of that," he told her as he looked at it, unable to stop himself from chuckling.
"As soon as I get it developed," the platinum blonde stated before creating another black hole, "But right now, you have a world that needs saving... again."
"I swear I'll never be done saving them," the Doctor muttered as he slipped the gasmask on for a third time that hour. He gave Raven a grin before stepping through the back hole, and couldn't stop it from growing when he heard her laughter before appearing before a confused and startled Colonel Mace.
Raven sighed as she looked down at the picture of the Doctor and Imhotep, though a smirk twisted her lips as she suddenly hit the rewind button.
"Are you my mummy?" the Doctor's voice spoke through the speakers, and the blonde couldn't help but double over in laughter as she looked at the baffed expression on Imhotep's face at the ridiculous question.
"Oh, Samantha is going to love this," she chuckled as she created another black hole and tucked the camera away.
"Best Halloween ever!"
