Chapter 1: Shattered World

Before this new chapter in The Kaiju Story Saga begins, if you haven't already read the previous two installments, or are fuzzy with their details, make sure you go back and read them. But enough of that, let's get started.

It's been three years since Kiryu and the Legion of Doom fell, and our world has changed dramatically.
Ever since the kaiju left the human world, things resumed their normal state. Politics began talking about human issues, the military withdrew from the now slowly recovering South America, and the future began to look bright. But it only took 4 months before the world was once again plunged into chaos.
The Chinese and the Americans began to have fierce tensions with one another over who should help "liberate" South America and "restore" their governments and countries. Each superpower began to occupy vast swathes of land to ensure that they would hold a dominant presence in this new territory. However, as both sides argued back and forth over who would make each country, it escalated. It is not known who shot first, but a small scuffle between Chinese and American troops near the now slowly rebuilding Colombia led to dead troops on either side from gunfire. The United States, tired of this drama and now angry that China openly attacked them, declared formal war on them. China, angered that the Americans were pushing them around and trying to overthrow them, returned this declaration with their own. It only took another two months before it sprouted into another world war and circled the globe.
This war was long, brutal, and turned into a stalemate around 2 ½ years into the war. Vietnam, now free from communist rule after having their own civil war, decided to enter the war on the side of the allies and pushed deep into Chinese territory and broke the stalemate. Now fighting a war on three fronts, China imploded and 3 years after it had started, they signed a peace treaty in Laos with the rest of the allies. The terms were harsh and the country was rebuilt from the ground up following the war. With almost 80 million military and civilian casualties and the collapse of several major countries and governments along the way, this war had left the world broken, exhausted, and weary. The exact kind of environment that Battra needed to once again try his hand at global conquest.
But where was he? That was the question on everyone's minds shortly after the Kaiju War ended. WWIII took that thought away from them for 3 years but now it's back on them. After all, he is a wanted war criminal. With almost 430 million civilian deaths weighing on him, he is the world's most wanted creature. The only kaiju who knew his whereabouts was his own sister, Mothra. However she felt he had redeemed himself and would not disclose that she knew this information to anyone.
Monarch, having survived both wars and countless attempts to divert funding to more "necessary" programs, has been monitoring and documenting Godzilla and Mothra on Infant Island. This small spit of land now holds the last remaining kaiju on Earth along with the two eggs Mothra had laid.
Junior, Godzilla's now 3 year old son, has been living the life many kaiju children wished they had back when his species was around. Instead of being sent to war training camps or killed off early due to raids from Mutos, Junior has been spending his days learning and playing on his island paradise. Until Mothra's second egg, the one that contains her son, began to show signs of hatching. Suddenly Junior felt that he would no longer be the shining star of Godzilla and Mothra's life but would now be overshadowed by his younger, and far more powerful, brother. With just a few days before he would hatch and start his life, Junior would watch as his life and importance go down the drain as his new brother took the spotlight. Godzilla felt his son's jealousy and anger begin to take shape as he felt his family start to crumble from within as he started to act out to try to keep his parents focused on him.
However things were beginning to get worse as Mothra's third egg, the one taken and experimented on by Kiryu long ago, had survived the collapse of the building that held it and the destruction of her creator's army. With the irradiated and destroyed ruins of the Jaeger Command Facility buried under two dozen feet of concrete and lead, this twisted and evil creature germinated, feeding on the radiation contained within. And now, with the hatch of her brother soon, she felt her own time coming.
With the world still reeling from the Kaiju War and WWIII, it would soon find itself placed in another conflict as the evil seeds planted long ago would begin to sprout into twisted and mutated creatures today. And with Godzilla now having to keep his family held together while the world around him falls apart, their futures begin to intertwine. He must choose between saving the world, or saving his family.
