(This is set in 1909 in S15, but no Miss Hart, instead we got Miss Annie Cranston as coroner, who was played by Mikaela Bisson)

It was cold fall night, as William and Julia get ready for bed, when the phone rang, "uh, no" Julia said

"Julia, it may not be a murder" he says as he picks up the receiver, "detective Murdoch…yes, George…I'll be right there…ok, bye" he says and hangs up the receiver and looks at Julia, "duty calls, but don't wait up. There has been a murder at a brothel"

"Where?" she says with interest

"Uh, on Queen's Street. The place is known as Claire's Coffee Shop"

Julia laughed, "I knew that was a brothel. Ruby owes be 10 dollars."

William laughs, as he heads out before giving Julia a kiss, "just promise me you'll get some sleep"

"I promise"

He leaves and arrives at the brothel seeing many ladies in skimpy outfits, all crying as he approaches George, "what have you, George?"

"Sir…the victim is a lady of the night, named Josie Brooke, 26, was strangled and stabbed."

"A gentlemen caller?"

"That's what I assume, but I talked to that lady over there," George leans his head to a young woman, "that's Fiona, she was best friends with Josie. She said Josie didn't have any gentlemen callers today, but she came out of her room at lunch, hardly ate, and returned to her room looking nervous and agitated, which was at 2:30, which she was last seen. But before she returned to her room, Fiona tried to talk to her, but she wouldn't say anything. It wasn't till at 9:30, when her body was discovered in her room."

"Who found her body?"

"It was the madame, sir. But despite what had happened, the ladies aren't talking, except Fiona."

"Thank you, George" he said and approached the body and did the sign of the cross, "Miss Cranston, what have you?"

"Detective, the victim was stabbed, not once but 3 times in the stomach and strangled. She has been dead for a least 2-3 hours."

"Thank you, keep me posted"

"Of, course"

William turns and sees the young lady, Fiona, "Miss Fiona"

"Just Fiona, please" she said as she wiped away her tears with a hanky, "please find the person, who did this to Josie"

"I will, but can you tell me what happened earlier?"

"Like I told your constable, after lunch at 2:30, Josie seemed nervous and agitated. I asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn't talk and went to her room. That was the last time I saw and talked to her."

"My condolences, truly"

"Thank you"

"She had no gentlemen callers today?"

She shakes her head, "and none of her usual would ever harm her. They were all sweet to her."

"One more thing, does she have any family we can talk too?"

"She has worked here for the last 2 years, and her family disowned her"

"Thank you." He said and tilted his hat and went to the madame

"Madame Claire"

"Detective"

"You discovered the body?"

"Yes, I told your constable this already"

"Yes, but why do you think she was killed?"

"I don't know, the gentlemen callers loved her. But now cause of this I need to close and keep closed for who knows how long"

"Well, thank you" William said and headed home

As he enters the house, he knows Julia is awake, as he sees the light shining from their bedroom. He enters the bedroom, "I told you to go back to sleep"

"I couldn't sleep. I wanted to hear about the murder"

"Well, it was a prostitute named Josie, she was stabbed and strangled"

"A gentlemen caller?"

"That was my first and George's thought, but she had no callers today. She only came out of her room today for lunch and returned at 2:30, until the madame found her body at 9:30"

"Mm, curious"

"Yes, but I'll know more when Miss Cranston, tells me of her findings"

"Yes, get a fresh start in the morning" she said as she snuggled against his chest and they both fell asleep within minutes.
