The night was filled with the sound of destruction and flashes of light that lit up the night sky. Screams of terror sounded off in the night as the feared and enraged Kyuubi went on its rampage. The screams that the shinobi and civilians alike gave off could be heard from distant nations. A short distance away the fourth Hokage was fighting a masked man. Although the child of the fourth was important he is not in our focus of this story.
Within Konoha, the village hidden within the leaves, that was currently under the rampage of the Kyuubi, a woman lay on the ground with the bottom half of her body crushed underneath a fallen building. She clutched her child to her chest in motherly love. This woman was deemed unimportant by her fellow villagers as she came from an unknown clan that was thought to have existed long ago. This woman was Amari Otsutsuki, a descendent from the legend known as the sage of six paths. This woman despite her appearance of the small frail middle-aged woman had the largest chakra reserves in the village with the fourth Hokage, Kushina Uzumaki, and Hiruzen Sarutobi coming in after her.
She clutched her child, Shenlo, to her chest to protect him from the already horrible events.
In a hushed moment of speaking, she leaned down and kissed the child on the head, saying, "I will always protect you from now until you die. For a mother's love lasts a lifetime, even through death."
With that said she leaned back and prayed to the seven major deities of the world.
'Kami, Yami, Shinigami, Susanoo, Amaterasu, Tsukiyomi, and the great Log, I humbly ask you as a dying mother, and a descendent from the Otsutsuki clan that was a great ally to you, as a sign of good faith to the long-lasting alliance between us, to grant me two wishes. The first is to give my child Shenlo a nearly perfect defense that comprises all the five elements and of any and all plant life. The second wish is that I can transfer half of all my abilities and a quarter of my chakra to Shenlo. I humbly ask you as a dying mother to honor our alliance and grant me these two wishes, so that I may rest knowing that my son shall be safe.'
With that prayer done, she drew her last breath. As if the child understood what had transpired around himself, he let out his first scream of anguish.
A few moments later the area that was destroyed was covered in darkness as the fires had died out. The darkness was expelled only for a moment as seven beings walked toward the child. They all looked toward each other as they each had one thought, to honor the alliance they had made long ago. They all looked toward the boy and extended an arm with their palms raised with their thumbs hooked in. A moment later seven beams of light were sent to the boy. The first five were the elements. The sixth was the protection of nature itself, and the seventh coming from the great Log, giving Shenlo half of his mother's skills in the ninja way, and a quarter of her chakra reserves.
Seven voices spoke at once. "We hereby claim the agreement of our alliance fulfilled, we have fulfilled our part, now it is the child's turn to honor his mother's death." With that, the seven deities left with a flash of light.
The child lay there clutched in the arms of his dead mother, crying as the somber aura of Konoha flooded the nation.
