Author's Note: Hello! This is something I honestly was not even planning on writing. I went to my computer one day to jot some things down and I surprised myself by writing an entire seen. With some more thought, I created a storyline and here we are. I am excited for this new adventure. I hope you all enjoy this new story! Without further ado, here's chapter one of Soulmates.

Chapter 1

It was just another day. That's what she had to keep telling herself. It was just another day. Ugh! Who was she kidding? This was the farthest thing from a normal day. Today was the day her life would change forever. Toady was her wedding day. This should be the happiest day of her life. And yet, all she could think about was him.

2 years earlier

"You promise you're not going to be late."

"Yes, Brooke, I promise." Haley tried to tell her friend convincingly as she packed up her classroom for the end of the year. It was always a sad time for the young teacher. She loved her students, and she honestly wished the year could be longer. She might be crazy for thinking that, but she's always been that nerdy girl. Her friends often told her she spent too much time thinking about work, especially Brooke.

"You used to be so good at being places on time before you started working at Tree Hill High. You spend all your time there now instead of with me." Brooke pouted

"I do not!" Haley sighed as she placed a folder in her bag.

"Umm, hello, teacher girl, you do. Which brings me to another point, I cannot believe you're not bringing a date."

Haley's jaw dropped, "Why do I have to bring a date? It's your wedding?"

"Because everyone brings a date to a wedding!" Brooke yelled from her bedroom.

Haley rolled her eyes and placed another item in her growing box. "Well, apparently not everyone," She tried to joke, but when Haley didn't hear anything on the other side, she said, "I don't need one because I'll be too busy with you making sure nothing goes wrong."

"Yeah…nothing is going to go wrong because I've been planning this day down to the literal T for six straight months. And…I might have maybe set you up with someone?" Brooke closed her eyes waiting for the reaction from her friend.

"You-You what?" Haley gasped stopping what she was doing to make sure she heard her friend right.

"I set you up."

Yep, she heard her right. Haley could not believe her friend. She loved Brooke for caring, but she truly did not want a date to this wedding. "Why would you do that? I'm not even going to have time to be with them because I'll be with you! I can't believe you did this! Who even is it?"

"Hales, come on. You don't have time to meet anyone because you're always working, which is not a bad thing. I know you're trying to find new ways for your students to learn better. But this is why you have me." Brooke smiled as she grabbed her shoes from the closet.

"Can you at least tell me who it is?" Haley asked as she sat down on her desk.

"Mmmm, nope! Now, stop packing up your room and go home and change. You have all week to finish."

"Brooke!" She said as she looked up at the clock in her room.

"Hales, come on, it's my wedding! You're my maid of honor! I need you here…on time."

Haley sighed again as she looked around her almost empty classroom. Brooke was right, she could finish on Monday. "Okay, okay. I'm leaving now."

Brooke squealed, "Yeah! I'll see you at the church tonight! I love you, Haley Bob!"

"I love you too"

The pair said goodbye as Haley placed her phone in her purse and started stacking up her boxes to take to the car. Her friend, Brooke Davis. That girl could get Haley James to do whatever she wanted. They'd known each other since high school, where they truly became the best of friends. They took the same driver's ed course and were friends ever since. Brooke and Haley were complete opposites, and maybe that's why they got along so well. They balanced each other out. Haley was there to calm Brooke's nerves when she got crazy, and Brooke brought Haley out of her comfort zone. When Brooke met Julian in college, Haley knew they were going to be together forever. When they all graduated from UCLA, Haley moved back home to Tree Hill and got a job at Tree Hill High. Brooke started a clothing company, Clothes Over Bros, in New York that made multimillions in less than a year. Julian started producing movies in LA, but still saw Julian quite often. When you run your own company, you can give yourself some time off when you miss your boyfriend. When Julian proposed a year after graduation, the designer realized she missed her home, so she opened a small store in Tree Hill and moved home. When Julian finished his movie, he moved to North Carolina to help Brooke plan their wedding. Here they were, six months later since the proposal, ready to be married.

When Haley thought about it, she couldn't help but feel excited. She loved Brooke and she loved Julian. They were a perfect match, and their life was just about to begin. The 24-year-old grabbed her purse and headed to her car.

When she went to open the door to her room, the box slipped in her hand and fell, slipping everything all over the floor.

Haley closed her eyes and sighed as she stared at everything spread all over the hallway, "Great." She mumbled as she bent down and began picking everything up.

She reached for a piece of paper when she saw a hand reach in the same direction. She looked up to see the most piercing blue eyes she's ever seen in her life. She felt as though she could have starred in them forever and never get bored. Her eyes moved to his raven black hair down his muscular arms, until she saw it. That smirk and she almost lost her balance.

"Looks like you could use a hand." The man spoke in a deep, yet sexy, voice.

All of a sudden, she lost her words. She couldn't think of anything to say. She simple nodded in reply as she hurried to finish cleaning up the papers.

When they were all off the floor, the two stood up at the same time and Haley had to look up as she spoke to him. He had to have been over six feet tall, making her feel even smaller in her 5-foot 4 petite body.

"Th-thank you, for helping me." Haley spoke quietly. She felt like she was back in high school taking to the popular boy. She almost kicked herself for it, but how could anyone speak normally looking into those eyes?

The young man put his hands in his pocket and shrugged, "Yeah, no problem."

The pair starred at each other for what seemed like a while, admiring each other, until the man placed his hand out and said, "Nathan Scott."

"Haley James" She said as she took his hand and shook it.

She couldn't help but notice how nice her tiny hand felt in his much larger one.

"Are you a teacher here?" Nathan asked, assuming from the paper's and being in a school after hours.

"Yeah, I teach English. I-I haven't seen you around here. Are you new?" Haley responded

"Me? Oh, no." The man chuckled, causing Haley to smile even more, "My brother is the basketball coach, I was helping him clean out his office today."

"Oh," Haley didn't know why she was disappointed in his answer, but she was kind of hoping she was going to be able to see him around school, "Well, that's nice of you."

"Ha, yeah. He's perfectly capable of cleaning it out himself, but he apparently really needed my help today."

Haley smiled along with him as she remembers that she truly has somewhere to be. "Well, I actually am in kind of a rush. I have somewhere to be. Thank you again for helping me."

"Yeah, no problem." The man nodded. For some reason he felt as though he had to make sure he could see her again, "Maybe I'll see you around."

Haley smiled at his words, "Yeah, maybe."

She looked at him one more time before continuing her walk to her car. She truly hoped she would see him around.

2 hours later**

Haley pulled up to the church with ten minutes to spare as she placed some more lipstick on her lips and climbed out of her car. After arriving home, she might have lost sense of time thinking of a certain man she met today while showering. She was never one to get all dazed out on a boy, that was Brooke's department. There was just something about him, something she had never experienced before when she talked to a guy. He was warm, kind, gorgeous was an understatement. And those eyes…There she goes again. Haley shook her head. Tonight, was Brooke's night. She straightened her dress before walking inside. Upon arrival, Brooke was the first person she saw, who ran up to her.

"Hales!" She yelled as she engulfed her friend in a hug

"Hi, Brooke." Haley laughed at she looked at her friend, "You look beautiful."

"You do too, Haley Bob!"

Haley laughed as she looked down again. She had to admit, she loved the way the long pink silk dress fit on her. It was something she would never have picked from a store, but she had to admit, her friend had a talent. "Well, I only have one person to thank for it."

"Yeah, you do. Can you help me with my dress?" Brooke smiled as she hugged her friend.

"Of course! I can't believe you're getting married!" Haley giggled as she followed her best friend into the back room where she should have been getting ready but decided it would be faster at her own house.

"Me either!" Brooke laughed as she walked further into the back unzipping the package that held her dress.

"Wow, Brooke," Haley gasped as she looked the dress up and down, "It's still the most beautiful dress I've ever seen."

The young brunette grinned from ear to hear, "Thanks! It's still a secret design that C over B will never release. This is mine."

"I'm so happy for you, Brooke. You really deserve this special day." Haley truthfully said looking at her friend. This was the best day of her best friends' life and she wanted to make sure it stayed that way. She was here for her all day, whatever Brooke needed, Haley would be there to get it.

"Don't you dare," The braid warned as she put her finger up, "Don't make me cry because then I'll have to redo my makeup, and I really do not want to do that."

Haley laughed as she pulled her friend into a hug, "You're the best friend anyone could ask for."

"You are too, Hales. You're amazing."

Haley shook herself as she whipped some tears from her eyes, "Okay, it's time for the rest of your life to begin."

After a couple of hours, Brooke was ready to walk down the aisle. As the music started playing, Haley looked back at her friend, "I love you, B. Davis."

"I love you too, Hales."

As Haley possessed down the beautiful church, she spotted a man that caught her eye. A man she had met before, briefly. She had to take a second glance to make sure she wasn't seeing things. And there he was, Nathan Scott, looking just as surprised to see her. And there it was, that smirk that made her blush. She had to shake it off as this was Brooke's day, and Nathan Scott could take her thoughts another day.

Haley made it through the ceremony, with tears in her eyes as she watched her best friend marry the man of her dreams. It was beautiful; their vows meaningful and full of love. Haley wished she could find a love like them some day.

When the ceremony was over, Haley was stuck back with the bride and groom taking pictures. She was there for Brooke one hundred percent, as this was her day, but she couldn't help but wonder what Nathan was doing here. How did he know Brooke and Julian? Brooke had never mentioned him. Thankfully, pictures were over, and they were on their way to the reception. Maybe she would find some clarity there.

As soon as Haley arrived at the hotel, she began looking for the handsome man. She was stopped when there was an announcement about the bride and groom making an entrance. She watched as her best friends walked into the room, hand in hand, love exploding on their faces. She was awestruck at the couple. Just as she was about to make her way over to her friend, Haley stopped in her tracks as she spotted him. That same man with piercing blue eyes.

Before she could make her way over to him, Brooke pulled her aside.

"Hales!" She screeched, "I'm married!"

Haley laughed as she hugged her friend, "I know you are! And I'm so happy for you! You and Julian are perfect for each other!"

"And I want you to find someone to make you as happy as Julian has made me. So this is why I set you up with a date."

Haley had completely forgotten that Brooke set her up, until now. The only person she wanted to talk to was Nathan. But when Brooke pulled her in the opposite direction, Haley couldn't help but look back at the man she had met earlier that day. When she felt her friend stop, Haley turned around to see a nice man standing in front of them.

"Okay, Haley I want to you meet Mark," Haley stuck her hand out to shake his hand, "Mark, this is my best friend, Haley."

"Pleasure to meet you." The man stated

"Pleasure is all mine." Haley smiled back

"Okay, you two talk. Have fun!" Brooke said before walking away.

"Can I get you a drink?" Mark asked the young woman in front of him.

Haley was too busy looking at Nathan that she had barely heard what Mark had said. "Uh? I'm sorry. What did you ask?"

"Did you want a drink?"

"Oh, sure. Red wine please."

"Red wine it is." He said as he walked away.

Haley felt as though she was lost in time looking at the man across the room. Their eyes were connected like magnets. When he started walking her way, she felt her cheeks heat up. Before her brain could tackle what to do, he was standing in front of her for the second time that day. This felt like something in a movie. How was this happening? And yet, when he spoke, it felt right…

"Haley James, we meet again."
