"Big Brother"
You were there from the start, always so smart.
When we would fight I like to think it was from love, more than spite.
You had the brains, always thinking. I had the brawn, always seeking.
They knew you would go far, always the shining star.
No one saw me, or what I could be.
So I stayed in the background, but always around.
When we got older, I couldn't help being colder.
Because of that we would fight, almost every night.
I don't know how to say, I'm sorry for all those days.
So I'll try to show it, in my simple ways.
A little longer hug, or trying not to be so smug.
You may have disappeared, leaving us all here.
But I was the one who ran away, now I'm here to stay.
When you need me by your side, I'll keep all the stupid comments inside.
So just stay, at least one more day.
Raphael closed his notebook, putting his pen down on the bedside table next to Leo's sleeping form. Master Splinter had once told him that maybe writing was a way to cope with his overwhelming emotions, and to be honest it did seem to help clear his mind. Leo has been asleep for a week now, his body trying to heal from their most recent encounter with the Shredder, broken bones and a damaged shell. Donny had told them he didn't know if their leader would recover, and hearing those words had Raph's blood boiling. He wanted nothing more than to go out and rip the over sized tin can of their enemy to pieces, but he knew his brother needed him. All of his brothers did. If Leo didn't wake up it would be up to Raphael to protect his family, to lead them in his absence...
"Please wake up big brother... I still need you here with me."
