i was really disappointed in the ending of season 8. so i decided to write a happy ending. pls be nice cause this is the first time i've ever done this. :)
This is what i think should have happened after the end of episode 10 when elizabeth pulled nathan outside to tell him that she didn't blame him for Jacks death.
"I don't blame you for Jacks death"
Those words were music to Nathan's ears. For all that time he was living under that guilt and shame of knowing that if he would have done things differently, Jack would probably still be here with Elizabeth and his son.
Nathan didn't know what to do. He was so grateful that Elizabeth is willing to move on and not blame him for her husbands death. he wanted to show her how much it meant to him so he slowly took her hand and elizabeth willingly gave him her other hand.
They stood there silent for who knows how long. they were lost in each other's eyes. they could read each other so well.
Then, the door opened. Quickly both of them moved away. What had just happened.
Elizabeth was so confused she just softly said "Excuse me" and turned around toward to the door.
Rethinking what had just happened she swiftly turned toward nathan. "Can we talk sometime?"
"Yeah... well... why don't I just walk you home?"
Elizabeth knew that she was seeing Lucas but for some reason something told her to go for it. She needed to sort things out with Nathan anyway. "Sure, let me grab my coat"
"Well i can grab it. I have to tell Allie where I'm going anyway."
Elizabeth's eyes were locked on his and said a quiet "Thank you, Nathan."
He came back out with her jacket and slowly slid it on her.
"Alright, ready?" Nathan remembered when he had first asked Elizabeth over to dinner and he asked her if she was ready. She said she felt sick but Nathan could see straight through her. She was scared and nervous after seeing Helen Bouchard. Maybe this time she really was ready, in more ways than one.
Nathan offered her his arm and to Nathan's surprise she took his arm and they began walking down the street.
"Ya know, I want you to know how much it means to me. That you don't blame me for Jacks death."
"Nathan, that last thing I want you to think is that you are living in Jacks shadow. Besides your courage and your job, you guys aren't that similar. You are totally a different person and I wouldn't change anything about you."
As soon as those words came out of her mouth she knew she shouldn't have said it. It was true but she didn't want nathan to know how she felt. And to be honest, she didn't want to face it herself.
They were almost to Elizabeth's house when Nathan turned to her and grabbed her hands once again.
"Lizabeth, I want you to know that I'm willing to wait as long as to need until your ready. I realize that you are seeing Lucas but I have to be honest with you. I love you. I know that you already know that but I'm not giving up."
Elizabeth looked down and tears began to form in her eyes.
Nathan wanted her to understand what he was saying. He slowly moved his hand up to her face and moved her face so they were looking each other in the eye.
"Lizabeth listen to me. We have something special. I know we do. And I'm not gonna let that go. I know you're scared but-"
Just then Robert comes bursting out from around the corner.
"Constable Grant, Mrs. Thorton! Jack is missing!"
