Episode - Pups Save a Lucky Collar (disclaimer: the episode is from my point of view)
It was another sunny day in Adventure Bay. I was at the track since the pups were gonna participate in a race. I wanted to be there to cheer Marshall on.
"Pups to your starting marks." announced Mayor Goodway.
As I walked to the stands I saw Marshall laying on the grass looking very sad.
I wanted to walk over to him to see what was the matter but then I saw Ryder walking over to him.
"Marshall, don't you want to race?" he asked as he knelt down by the dalmation.
"Why?" asked Marshall as he looked at Ryder. "I never win. I have such rotten luck."
"I don't think so." said Ryder comfortingly. "But you can't change your luck if you don't even try."
Marshall smiled.
"You're right." he said. "I'm going to try extra super, duper hard!" he said with a determined look on his face.
"Thanks Ryder." said Marshall.
He licked Ryders face.
"Wait for me!" cried Marshall as he ran over to the track to take his place.
"Alright Marshall, You can do it." I thought.
"Those pups' tails are wagging so fast, they're going to fly around that track." said Mr. Porter chuckling.
I pulled out my phone to record Marshall in the race and so I could show him how he did afterwards.
Mayor Goodway blew her whistle, and the pups ran off.
I hit record on my phone and kept Marshall in frame.
"And they're off!" announced Mayor Goodway. "Chase and Rocky are battling for the lead. Rubble, Skye, and Zuma are vie for third. And Marshall, well, he's such a nice pup."
"Huh?" asked Marshall as he looked back for a second.
"I'm not coming last again." he said with a determined expression.
Marshall pushed himself forward and ran past Rubble.
"What's this? asked Mayor Goodway as Marshall ran past Skye. "Marshall is gaining! Ooh, isn't it thrilling?"
"Come on Marshall, you can do it!" I thought.
The pups rounded the bend toward the finish line.
A seagull was on the track eating one of Mr. Porters mini pies.
"Oh no, look out!" cried Chase.
"Whoa!" he said as he and Rocky jumped over the seagull.
"I'm doing it!" cried Marshall as he overtook the other three pups.
"I'm.. Whoa! He said as he tripped over the pie and rolled past Chase and Rocky and across the finish line.
Mayor Goodway and Ryder cheered.
"I'm good." groaned Marshall as he got up.
"Oh, you're more than good, Marshall." said Mayor Goodway. "You're the winner!"
"I am?" asked Marshall
Everyone cheered and so did I.
"Congratulations Marshall!" I thought.
"And here's your prize: a shiny new collar." said Mayor Goodway as she held up the collar.
"Congratulations." she said as she gave it to Ryder.
I took a photo of the collar before Ryder took Marshall's normal yellow collar off his neck.
"I'll stick your pup tag on it." said Ryder as he took off Marshall's yellow collar, put Marshall's pup tag on his new collar, and put Marshall's new collar around his neck.
"Amazing." exclaimed Marshall.
He ran over to the podium Mayor Goodway announced from.
The other pups surrounded it.
"Check it out, you guys." said Marshall as he climbed up to the podium.
The pups cheered for Marshall.
I took a few pictures of Marshall showing off his new collar.
Meanwhile Mr. Porter was setting up his mini pies on a table a seagull came by.
"Get away from my pies." ordered Mr. Porter. "Go on! Shoo!"
While trying to shoo away the seagull, Mr. Porter accidentally threw the pie in his hand.
"Oops!" he said.
The pie was heading right toward Marshall.
Marshall gasped and shut his eyes.
But the seagull flew over and caught the pie.
"Wow, Marshall, that was lucky." said Chase.
"I bet it's my new collar." said Marshall. "It makes me lucky.
Then the seagull dropped the pie on Mr. Porter's head.
"I could stand some luck right now." he said.
Mr. Porter picked off some of the pie filling and licked it.
"Mmm." he said.
Marshall hopped off the podium still very pleased with himself.
I walked up to him.
"Well done Marshall!" I congratulated him.
"Thanks Adam." said Marshall, "So what do you think?"
"Sweet Marshall!" I replied.
"Did you see me?" asked Marshall.
"I sure did." I said. "I even got it on my phone."
I knelt beside Marshall and replayed the video.
Marshall was surprised I had recorded it but was glad I had.
"Wow I really did win!" he exclaimed.
I sat beside Marshall and gently stroked his fur.
Marshall liked having his back scratched.
"Ahh that's the spot." Marshall panted happily.
I also showed him the photos I took. I had even taken a couple photos of Ryder comforting Marshall.
"Wow, you're a good photographer Adam." said Marshall.
"Thanks Marshall." I said as I patted his head.
"I guess with this new collar I'm very lucky." said Marshall. "Did you see me not get hit by that pie?"
"Yeah, but that was a bit of a coincidence with the seagull." I said.
Marshall didn't listen; he was too busy admiring his collar.
"Well, maybe it's my good looks and my new lucky collar." said Marshall starting to be boastful.
"Marshall, don't you think your boasting a little?" I asked.
"Adam, don't you get it? I look very smart in this new collar so I deserve to be a bit boastful." retorted Marshall haughtily
I was a bit fed up with Marshall's attitude.
"Marshall no one likes to be around someone who is boasting." I told him
"Well like I said I deserve to be a little boastful." scoffed Marshall.
"You should listen to me cause I know what I'm talking about." I retorted.
Marshall just kept on bragging to me but I wasn't happy about this.
"You're just jealous cause you've never had good luck." bragged Marshall.
"Well, be that way. I'm leaving." I said annoyed as I stood up and walked away from Marshall.
Marshall was surprised.
On my way to my truck I tripped on a pie that had fallen off the table and fell.
"Ow" I said as I sat up.
"Sorry about that Adam." said Mr. Porter.
"That's alright." I sighed as I stood up
Marshall saw everything and kept on being boastful.
"See you later Mr. Unlucky." teased Marshall.
I couldn't believe it! My favorite PAW Patrol pup was teasing me.
I put my phone in my pocket and hopped in my truck.
I sat in the driver seat trying to calm myself.
"Marshall why are you being this way? That was only a coincidence, the pie didn't hit you." I said to myself.
I drove my truck away from the track and out to the road to go home while Marshall went back with Ryder and the pups.
On their way back to the Lookout, Marshall saw my house and drove his fire truck a little down the street and saw me parking my truck.
I saw Marshall and looked away as I hopped out of my truck but I was so distracted I tripped on a tree root in the ground.
"I need to watch where I'm going." I said.
Marshall heard what I said.
"Wow you really are unlucky Adam." giggled Marshall
"I don't care to hear your opinion Marshall." I retorted.
I walked up the walkway to my house.
"Careful you don't trip on those stairs Adam or you'll have bad luck all day." teased Marshall.
I had enough of Marshall teasing me.
"Well if you can't say something nice Marshall don't say anything at all." I said angrily.
Marshall was surprised.
"Your right Adam. I'm really sorry." he said.
I was surprised that Marshall had said sorry to me right after I said that.
Marshall parked his fire truck in the driveway behind my truck and hopped down.
He ran up to me.
"Marshall what are you doing? Ryder and the others will be wondering where you are." I said as he sat at my feet.
"I'll explain I came here." replied Marshall. "But Adam I'm really sorry I called you Mr. Unlucky, I guess I was being boastful."
"Well that's alright buddy boy we all can get full of ourselves sometimes. I said.
Marshall smiled at me.
"Thanks Adam." he said.
"You can help me with the photos if you want." I told him
"Okay Adam." replied Marshall.
So I led Marshall into my house.
Marshall was glad I wasn't mad at him anymore.
I walked over to my laptop in the living room and sat down on the couch and Marshall jumped onto the couch and snuggled up next to me.
I gave Marshall a warm smile and stroked his neck.
Marshall sighed happily.
"You sure are a snuggly dalmatian Marshall." I said as I patted his back.
I put my phone's charging cord in the laptop and plugged my phone in.
"So what do we do first Adam?" asked Marshall.
"Well first I need to get the photos on the laptop Marshall." I told him.
Marshall rested his head on my left leg and watched.
"Hey will you frame those just so you can be reminded of this collar." asked Marshall.
"Of course I will, little buddy." I replied.
I got the photos I took of Marshall racing and getting his new collar and then put them on the laptop.
Then I selected them and hit the printer button to print them.
And then me and Marshall went into the breakfast nook to get the photos.
"What do you think buddy?" I asked Marshall as I showed the photos I had printed/
"Pretty good Adam." nodded Marshall.
"Here I'll take one more before you go back to the Lookout." I told him.
I knelt down beside Marshall and took the photo.
I showed Marshall the photo.
"That's good Adam." said Marshall.
"Ok I'll print it." I told him.
"Yep, that's good." nodded Marshall as I showed him.
A few minutes later Marshall went back to the Lookout and I went to get the photos framed.
I went to a department store to get the photos framed.
After getting them framed i put them back in my truck and drove off to show Marshall the framed photos.
I was heading to the Lookout when I passed Mr. Porters restaurant.
To my surprise Marshall had his normal yellow collar on.
He just hit the watermelon stand and was rolling on a watermelon.
"Be careful Marshall." I thought as I watched from the drivers side.
Marshall slipped off the watermelon and the watermelon splattered onto him.
Marshall had most of the watermelon on his head and a piece of watermelon in his mouth.
He spit out the piece in his mouth.
"I'm okay." he said.
Ryder, Mr. Porter and the pups laughed.
I hopped out of my truck.
"Hi Adam." said Ryder.
"Hi Ryder, Mr. Porter, pups" I said.
"Hiya Adam!" said Marshall happily.
"Hey Marshall". I said as I patted his back. "Let me get that off you."
I took the watermelon off Marshall's head.
"Thanks Adam." said Marshall.
"By the way where's your collar?" I asked.
"Well I learnt its not my collar that makes me lucky but its having such great friends." replied Marshall.
I knelt down to Marshall and set down the broken piece of watermelon.
"Well you did look nice having that collar on." I said as I rubbed his head.
"Yeah I have it in my firetruck." said Marshall.
"Oh by the way the photos are framed." I told him, Let me get them."
"What photos?" asked Rocky.
"And why were you a little late getting back to the Lookout Marshall?" asked Chase.
"Well Adam and I can answer both those questions since I was with him." replied Marshall.
I took the photos out of my truck and knelt down by Marshall again.
"Check these out." I said.
The pups and Ryder were surprised I had taken some photos.
"Wow you took all those Adam?" asked Rubble.
"Indeed I did Rubble." I told him.
"Hey, look Adam even took one of you comforting Marshall Ryder." said Skye.
"Oh yeah." said Ryder.
"You can have this one if you want Marshall." I said handing Marshall the photo I had taken of Marshall showing off his collar.
"Thanks Adam," said Marshall.
So I spent the rest of the day with Ryder and the pups explaining about how boastful Marshall was and how he learnt his lesson.
The End
