Chapter 1: leaving the peerage

Takes place after the events of the fight with sairaorg. In this particular iteration of the fic, Issei was never comforted by the girls. And he never declared his love to Rias out loud.

Issei had just finished fighting the heir of the Bael family. He found himself lying down on the hospital bed along with Sairaorg after the rating game competition between him and Rias. Sirzechs had come into the room and informed him abnout a possible promotion exam to the middle class devils. He also granted him three wishes that would be accepted except for a request for a maou position.

Sairaorg was on a different bed resting after the battle he had between him and Issei. He spoke after a few seconds. "A promotion is indeed great, but you should think about someone else.". Issei looked at the heir to the Bael family.

"How do you mean?" Issei replied. Curiosity evident in his voice.

"The queen form you used to fight me awhile ago. I can tell that it came from your feelings for a certain redhead." Sairaorg replied. "I believe you should go tell her your feelings."

Issei's head began to hurt again. A fallen angel had appeared in his head.

"Would you die for me?"

Issei was gritting his teeth. "Issei are you okay?" Sairaorg asked, clearly worried about his pawn.

Issei's POV:

Raynare. Why didn't the other girls and Rias notice my pain. Was I just being used from the beginning? Does Rias even love me? I'm starting to have my doubts.

Fresh tears started to leak down my eyes. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. Like I was experiencing the worst heartbreak imaginable. What if I was to be discarded and thrown away like trash, by rias and the others. What if I go through the heartbreak again?

Do i love her? Do i still love her?

I'm…. not sure anymore

Normal POV:

"Yes i'm fine sairaorg. Let's just rest."

When Issei properly recovered, the school was just about to begin the school fair. The Occult research club created a cafe for students. Issei was a horror monster for the haunted house attraction of the occult research club cafe.

Issei took the role of a frankenstein. While he found people getting scared. They were entirely for the wrong reasons. They were terrified he was going to peek at them again due to his perverted nature.

"We're going to beat the perversity out of you!" Murayama said, while Katase was holding kendo sticks. They then proceeded to beat him up.

At the end of the day the school fair was very fun. However it gave Issei the time he needed to think.

He could not stay with a peerage he does not trust anymore. Feeling that his heart would only be damaged more he came to a decision.

He wished to be traded.

During break time, he went to Sirzechs directly to his office in the underworld

Flashback

"Oh hi Isssei! How are you and Rias doing?" Sirzechs asked, clearly wishing to know when they will get together as he shipped Issei and his sister together.

"I actually wished to speak to you about Maou-Sama." Issei replied.

"Sure! I do hope you two are doing well if you know what I mean." Sirzechs replied.

"I don't really think you will like this sirzechs." Issei replied with a regretful tone, almost as if his next words were going to hurt the maou.

He took a seat in front of Sirzechs' desk

I would like to use a wish that you granted me after the fight with Sairaorg." Issei stated.

"Very well, i'm listening, what is your desired wish Issei-kun" Sirzechs stated.

Issei said with a reply "I wish to be removed from the peerage of Rias Gremory." he replied with a sad tone. Afterwards he breathed a bit before delivering a heart wrenching request "I also do not wish to become wed to her anymore."

Sirzechs' smile disappeared, turning into a frown in the process. He had gone through much work to ensure that Issei and Rias got together as his sister was supposed to become the next head of the gremory family which required a husband. He remembered the satan rangers test to make sure that Issei was a suitable candidate as Rias' fiance.

Sirzechs, doing his best to understand Issei's request, replied. "May I ask why? I thought you cared and loved my sister." Sirzechs lowered his head slightly.

"I still care about her. But I don't love her anymore because of personal reasons which I would prefer not to share. I know that the Satan Rangers' test was to make sure I am a suitable candidate as a potential fiance for Rias Gremory. I don't want to be her suitor anymore because I lost my feelings for her." issei replied. Breaking the heart of Sirzechs even more.

Sirzechs was not crying because as a leader he knew how to display true strength and acting strong due to being a leader for his species. However he still felt sad, especially because he viewed Issei as a potential brother who was fun to hang out with.

"Please Maou-Sama, please consider it." Issei stated further.

Sirzechs, although caring for his sister, he also did not want Issei to live an unhappy future as someone who did not love his sister.

"If this is what you desire, then I need you to understand. We may need to arrange another marriage between another family similar to what happened to Riser. I'm just letting you know though, Do you really want to put Rias through that pain again? Do you wan to put the other members of her peerage in pain after you earned their love?" sirzechs replied.

"I'm sure Maou-sama." Issei also had another thing. Because of his fear that Rias was simply toying with him like Raynare, he was starting to even doubt if his feelings were real. He also felt the same towards Akeno.

"I understand, I will search for a peerage that will take you in. Because of your abilities, I should be able to find a peerage fast. Sirzechs replied with a serious tone. I will also inform out family of your desire"

"Thank you, Maou-sama," Issei replied.

With that Issei returned to his school.

Flash back end

Later at the occult research club room

Rias had just walked into the usual meeting room for the Occult Research Club. Contemplating about her final school fair due to entering college soon. But she was also thinking about a certain brunette boy.

Rias POV:

Allright, I've had enough, if Ise won't confess to me, then I will. And then we can finally be together!

Normal POV

While Rias was thinking to herself, Issei just walked into the room. Unknownst to them, A black haired ponytail queen and a few others were just outside the room.

"This is it! They're finally going to confess!" Akeno said while giggling as she wanted to try an affair with Issei. Koneko, Xenovia, Gasper, Kiba, Irina, Asia, and Rossweise were with her and they all nodded while trying to listen to the conversation.

Issei stepped into the room, with an emotionless look on his face.

This is it. Time to share my feelings and win Ise's heart.

"Ne, Ise" Rias said.

Issei looked at her.

"I have something to tell you. I love you Issei, I've loved you ever since the day you saved me from my marriage." Rias expected him to reply by reciprocating her feelings.

However, Issei just had a dead emotionless look on his face.

Issei's POV:

I love you, Ise.

I would have loved to hear those words long ago, but now I just feel cold hearing them.

Normal POV:

To Rias' shock, Issei had a sad look on his face.

"You know, I would have loved to hear those words months ago." Issei replied with a sad look on his face.

Rias was very shocked. She had done everything to earn Issei's love.

"I loved you Buchou." Issei said.

Rias' shock disappeared, Issei said he loved her! Wait… loved, as in past tense. Her heart was beginning to break down. Did this mean that...

The other club members were also shocked they were so sure that Issei loves her and the same on Rias' side.

"But that is no longer the case." Issei replied with a sad tone

Rias felt her heart begin to ache. "Ise, Why?! Why don't you love me anymore?!" she replied, desperate to earn his love again.

Akeno and the others outside the room. Also started feeling heartache. They genuinely thought issei would confess and everything would be fine.

Issei remained silent. All of a sudden, Sirzechs appeared via a magic circle.

"Oni-Sama?! What are you doing here?! I'm trying to talk with Issei!" Rias almost shouted.

"I'm actually here to deliver urgent news to Issei and you." Sirzechs replied. Turning to Issei he said. "Issei-kun, I have found 8 possible peerages for you to join." Issei nodded.

"Possible peerages?" Rias said her heart was breaking even more. Did this mean Issei wanted to leave her peerage? It was at this point the other members came in as well, they were also shocked that Issei wished to leave Rias' peerage.

"I was about to tell you this buchou, but I wish to leave your peerage." Issei replied.

"You wish to leave? Why?! I won't allow it! Your my Ise!" Rias replied, her heart still breaking. Tears started to flow on her face

"Why Ise-kun?!" Akeno replied about to cry as well.

"I'm sorry Rias, but this request was made to me via a wish I granted Issei-Kim. I'm afraid I promised to give him anything barring a Maou position." I will make sure that you get a suitable replacement. Sirzechs replied.

"You can't do this Onii-sama!" Rias shouted"

"I must tell you further, Issei no longer wishes to be your future husband, as such you will be arranged in another marriage." Sirzechs replied, s shocking rias even further as she had to go through the same situation like the riser incident.

"I'm sorry Buchou, but I cant stay with you anymore. I've lost my trust and affection for all of you, please forgive me." Issei said.

"Issei come with me back to the underworld and we can discuss the peerages you wish to join." Sirzechs stated.

Issei walked into a magic circle. "I'm sorry everyone" Issei replied as he disappeared in a shine of red light along with sirzechs.

Rias, with her heart fully broken, fell to her knees and began to sob and weep loudly. Xenovia and Irina began to cry while hugging each other. Akeno went into a catatonic state, while Kiba, Gasper, ravel and koneko began to drip tears from their eyes. Rossweisse on the other hand just stood there with a sad expression.

"Ise, why?" Rias said while crying.
