Chapter 1:
Lucy had a secret, a secret she had been keeping her entire life. Though she didn't realize she was even keeping a secret until after Tartarus. To say that finding out was life-changing would be an understatement. Lucy never thought the day would come where her secret would be let out.
Lucy was sitting at the bar sipping a strawberry smoothie. She had just gotten back from her latest job and was waiting on Bix to show up with his family. After the guild disbanded Lucy had gotten close to the Thunder God Tribe, especially Bix. Bix had asked her to be there when he brought his family to Fairy Tail for the first time and she couldn't deny him that. So as she sat there waiting she thought about her latest job. She had been going solo since the guild got back together, which is probably the only reason she has been able to keep her secret. Her last job had gone south and while it was nothing she couldn't handle she could have been found out if she had been with her old team.
All of a sudden she could hear Bix laughing in the doorway. As she turned around she saw him standing with eight others, six men and two females. However, as her eyes took in the forms of four out of the eight new faces she found herself unable to move. She came out of her trance though when one of the three she recognized met her gaze; it was then that she noticed she had started glowing. She quickly stood and raced toward the tall man, all but tackling him just to cover his mouth.
"Don't you dare say it" she hissed.
His eyes were defiant but instead all he said was "You're glowing" before she was yanked off his person. She brushed off the people who were ready to attack and ran out the door.
She ran through the woods until she got to the field she used for training. Unbeknownst to her though she had been followed not just by the newcomers but by the entire guild.
"Makuakāne! I kēia manawa. Pono e ʻike wau iā ia i kēia manawa."
Time stopped as the celestial spirit king appeared in the field.
"He kaikamahine ʻoe? Hiki iā ʻoe ke ʻike hoʻokahi wale nō iā ia."
"Maopopo iaʻu. Koho wau i kēia manawa. Pono wau e ʻike iā ia."
"Very well child."
The spirit king lifted his hand and created a portal to the spirit world.
The people hiding in the trees stood in awe as a dragon flew through the gate and landed in front of Lucy. The guild got ready to attack and defend Lucy when the dragon turned into a human and Lucy rushed at her. All it took from Lucy was one word for Fairy Tail to realize Lucy had been hiding something from them. They just weren't entirely sure what yet.
Lucy waited with tears in her eyes for the dragon to transform into a human. Once she did she lunged at her.
"Mom"
Lucy cried as she held onto her.
"Shh. It's okay Lucy. I'm right here."
Lucy just cried for a while holding onto the woman. Once her tears slowed she straightened back up.
"I had wanted to wait to use this for if I ever got married but this was just so… so unexpected."
"I know dear. Why don't we go somewhere the eavesdroppers in the trees can't follow us, hmm?"
As she said that a soft glow enveloped her and light purple dragon wings appeared. Lucy stood there for a minute before she let a soft golden light envelop her as well, sprouting her own golden set of archangel wings.
"I guess the cat's out of the bag now"
Lucy took her mom's hand and they took to the skies. The Fairy Tail crew stood speechless at the new development but eventually made their way back to the guildhall.
As they flew around, Lucy talked to her mom about everything, particularly the four people who just made their way into her life. She started with Arman Pradesh, her godfather, and his son Farron, people she never thought she would see again. She talked about her fear that they won't remember her and that even if they do they won't want anything to do with her. He already has eight children, why would he want anyone else to care for? Then there is Zen. He almost spilled her secret when he met her gaze earlier. And then there's the fact that Father wants them to be together even though they aren't soulmates. Lastly, the person she does not yet know. Her soulmate. How was she supposed to tell him? How was she supposed to deal with everything that has and is going to happen? How was she supposed to deal with her guild now that they know she has been keeping stuff from them? Lucy didn't even know if she even could tell them everything. Lucy and her mother landed in the field again. Only to find out that it was time for her mother to go. The spirit king had waited for their return but he couldn't continue to freeze time or reality would be messed up. So Lucy said goodbye to them both and watched as they disappeared before flying back to the guild.
Lucy got to the guild to find it completely quiet. When she walked in she found that everyone had been waiting on her. Even Bix's family, most of which she didn't even know. As she stood in the middle of the room she couldn't help but feel like she shouldn't be there. She doesn't see Zen walking up to her until he drops to his knee in front of her.
"My Princess"
Lucy looks at him, appalled at what he said.
"Zen you ass why would you betray me like that."
Zen laughs as he stands back up.
"Because Lulu, you looked like you were about to flee."
He picks Lucy up throwing her over his shoulder laughing as he spins her around. Lucy shrieks as she starts pounding on his back.
"Put me down! How dare you treat a princess like this! Off with your head!"
Unfortunately for Lucy, she was laughing the entire time and no one could really take her seriously. After a couple more minutes Zen put her back down, only for the two of them to find that everyone was staring at them, especially Zen's family since they knew he didn't let people touch him.
Bix broke the silence after a couple of minutes.
"Cosplayer? What exactly is going on? And how do you know Zen?"
Lucy just stood there looking at the ground unsure of how to answer. Zen looked down at her giving her a nudge. Lucy looked up at Zen before looking at Bixlow.
"I've known Zen my entire life. He has been my best and truest friend for as long as I can remember."
Lucy didn't even get a chance to say anything else as Arman spoke up.
"My dear, you wouldn't happen to be Lucy Heartfilia would you?" All eyes were on Arman when he asked that.
"Yes, sir. I am."
"Oh dear child, I feared the worst after your mother passed and no letters were ever returned."
Lucy stared wide-eyed.
"You sent letters?"
"Woah hold up. What is going on? Cosplayer you know my dad too?"
"I'm her godfather. Layla, Ganier, and I were all really close when we were young."
"I know Farron too. I would've known the rest of you as well but when my mother died and I never heard anything I thought they had forgotten about me. The only person I stayed in touch with is Zen which is due to our bond not because we sent letters or kept in touch like normal people."
Despite all the emotions in the air, Natsu lost his patience.
"Luce, what have you been hiding from us? What was that language you were speaking? Who was that woman you called mom? Why was she a dragon? Where did those wings come from? Why did that dude call you Princess?"
Lucy just sighed as she realized her secrets were about to come out.
"There's a lot you don't know about. But there's also a lot I'm still figuring out Natsu. I'm not even going to question how you know about the woman I was with since I know all of y'all were hiding in the trees. The language I spoke was the language of the Celestial Realm. Zen is the only human alive who can understand and speak it. For now at least. And the woman was my mom, Layla. As for why she was a dragon is a long story, but to sum it up she is the celestial spirit for the Northern Crown, Corona Borealis. Unbeknownst to most the Northern Crown constellation is a gate to another world, in particular the dragon world. Since my mother is the protector of the gate she can take the form of a dragon. The wings are a part of my magic that I'm still figuring out, and Zen called me Princess because I am one. Alright if that's all I think I'm gonna go now."
Lucy tried to escape but Zen wouldn't let her. Through their connection, Zen started talking to her
"Lulu, I think they deserve to know everything. You don't have to tell them everything right now but you do have to meet the rest of my family. Especially Vander."
"Who's Vander?"
Zen dragged Lucy over to his family, saying "She will answer the rest of your questions tomorrow."
Once they were facing his family Zen decided to do introductions, even though Bix started whining about how he wanted to do it.
"Lucy you already know my Father, Farron, and Bix. This is Kaleb, mindbender and guild master of White Sea. Cristoff is the lunar dragon slayer and a great healer, as well as one of the knights. Emzadi is the solar dragon slayer. Xally is a water mage and just started her own pediatric practice. And lastly, this is Vander, shadowquip mage and former bloodhunter for the steel council."
As soon as Lucy met Vander's eyes she started glowing again.
Then in her head, he said "Vander is your soulmate. Hence why you are glowing again."
Lucy snapped out of her daze and looked at her arm to find she was glowing. She turned to Zen with fear in her eyes. She didn't have to say anything for him to know what was wrong. She turned back to the group.
"It was very nice to meet all of you. As you have probably figured out I am a celestial mage. I have to go but I would love to get to know all of you."
With that, Lucy turned around and let a soft glow envelop her so her wings would come out. Her wings were golden and large enough that they could cocoon her if she so desired and with one push she would have been through the door and gone.
Before she could leave though she was stopped again. This time it wasn't Zen, it was Vander.
"Wait where are you going?"
The second he touched her though she started to glow brighter and she panicked. Lucy rushed out of the guild and took to the sky, tears flowing down her cheeks. The others stood there stunned, Vander, looking lost turned to Zen and Bix.
"What did I do?"
Bix shook his head not knowing what was going on either. Zen, however, sighed knowing exactly what was going on.
"It's not your fault Van. It's complicated and I really shouldn't tell you anything. It's really up to her when it comes out, but I can take you to her if you want."
Van nodded and once Zen's wings were out, he took his shadow form clinging to Zen's wings while they looked for the crying girl.
It took some time but the two eventually found Lucy. She had cocooned herself in her wings near a lake in the woods. She was still crying when they found her though and didn't seem to notice their arrival. Van came out from the shadows and was about to make his way to Lucy but Zen stopped him.
"Lulu you know it's not your fault. You can't control the glowing. No one can. Come on why don't you come out from there and talk to us. Van's really scared he did something wrong."
Sniffling, Lucy slowly opened her wings.
"Vander's here?"
"Yeah, Starshine. I'm right here."
Vander moved into her line of sight.
"I'm sorry for panicking and running out like that. It's not exactly how I wanted to meet you for the first time."
Zen decided to cut in for a sec.
"Lulu you need to talk to someone and Vander needs to know what is going on, at least with this. I'm going back to Fairy Tail. You are going to stay here and talk to Vander, and you aren't going to run off and leave him here."
With that Zen was gone.
