The Beginnings of a new life

Chapter one

Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs heading back to work after months of rehab with his physical and mental condition caused by the monster Juan Jose Hernandez in Paraguay. Only to slipped away from the authorities several times with the OFF THE BOOKS operations.

His friends and including a new friend for which had been helping him out at his house to recover further with Lt. Loreile Baskins working for the Evergreen safehouse in Alexandra, Virginia. They had gotten close between the both of them with Leon having asked to have Loreile help with getting him back together after being tortured horribly.

She had worked late last night at the safehouse in Alexandra, Virginia and wasn't able to show up in the morning to wish him the best with heading into NCIS. And start his first day of work on a limited basics. No thanks to Doctor Cyril Taft and Director Leon Vance.

He was nervous while checking his appearance into the mirror from inside his bedroom wearing a blue suit with white tie and white cotton shirt underneath. It's been awhile since he had updated his wardrobe with the last time he was shot by Luke Harris six years prior.

He had made sure he had his weapon with him along with his badge and I.D. to be shown at the front gate. One thing he was sure was the fact he was missing his friend Loreile having come close together during the months of rehab and venting his emotions and feelings for what was done to him in Paraguay. So much worse than the first time having been stuck for the two months. However this time it was only for three weeks with himself, his friend ex NCIS agent Stan Burley and several marines having been rescued with the blessing of the DOD and SECNAV.

Phineas had sent a email earlier to make sure he was alright after moving back into the house with Uncle George and Aunt Mickey able to purchase the house back from when Sahar was killed. Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs felt warm all inside his heart that Phineas still very much cared for the aged man in his late sixties. He needed to send back an reply since Phineas was going to be busy with reports for his teachers coming back to class with being off for the summer.

He walked outside onto the front porch before walking down the steps with his right knee and leg still slightly a problem with walking. The new skin placed on the burns had healed over with the regeneration caused by the iron rods with Hernandez using on his body during the three weeks in Paraguay.

Leroy Jethro Gibbs wanted to just forget the entire time. Even though it wasn't easy with the dreams and nightmares. And why he's been talking to Doctor Grace and Lt. Loreile Baskins. He moves with getting into his grey old beat up truck with having a slight issue with being behind the wheel. The one thing he did notice was the fact that Phineas was waving to him from the front porch of his house saying goodbye.

Afterwards he headed on down the street to head for the Naval Yards...

Apartment complex Just on the outskirts of Alexandra, Virginia

Lt. Loreile Baskins age 54 years of aged was very pleased with her work in regard to taking care of her patient for the past six weeks with Leon Vance asking to help. She was still tired after working late last night at the Evergreen safehouse. She had fallen back to a sleep. But then again she was remembering the kiss she shared with herself and Leroy Jethro Gibbs to be very tender and with passion.

She really didn't think she was able to fall in love with the 68 year old agent for NCIS. But she did any rate during the time she was making sure he was cared for with his basic needs. And there were a number of times during the six weeks he had suffered very badly with the dreams and nightmares to wake up screaming from the burning pain of the iron rods on his body. And for which she was able to console him.

She will call later to see how he's doing sitting at the desk and filing papers and files for which Field agent McGee and Lt. James Brown taking care of the team while he was away in Paraguay and on medical leave.

The kiss had happened when she had finished up dressing a small wound on his right leg. When she felt the urge and vice versa that he wanted to kiss the beautiful woman taking care of him. They had both blushed at that particular time since she had never thought something like this was going to happen with him of all people.

It had happened in the living room on his famous couch while the fireplace was crackling. She was able to learn the concept with Gibbs talking her through the process with the logs.

Even though she and Gibbs wanted more. She didn't think at the time that he was able to be up for the challenge of a new relationship. After finding out his previous wife Jacqueline Sloane had filed for divorce and left for New York with her daughter Faith. Loreile had felt that this was the worst thing to had happened while he was struggling with his life overall.

So they both decided to wait until he was able and ready. While she would be heading back to work full time at the safehouse and work on her shooting skills at the gun range and catch up with all of the changes during the past six weeks.

And no doubt she was going to be teased as to why she had left in the first place since it was supposed to been kept quiet.

NAVAL YARDS...

Special Agent Gibbs walked into the bullpen with no one around for his grand return. He spoke with some of the other agents in their alcoves welcoming him to work. Marvin working the Asia territory had mention that his team was out having been called on a murder case with a body having been found in the harbor with the Coast Guard finding the male body with two shots to the head.

So Gibbs was alone and decided to see if Director Leon Vance was in his office. Taking the elevator instead of the stairs with his bum leg and knee.

In walked into the outer office to see Melanie his normal secretary back to work after having a baby on maternity leave. She looked up from her computer terminal with a smile of seeing the agent back to work.

"Welcome back Agent Gibbs, I will see if the director is not busy to talk with you with your first day back." She picks up the phone connecting to his office knowing what was coming next. "Agent Gibbs please go right in."

"Thanks Melanie." He smiled slightly with moving to open the door...

"SURPRISED! " As McGee and others will surprise Gibbs with the biggest greeting ever!" Bishop and Kasie had ran up to him with hugs that almost knocked him down. As he didn't know what the say with the greeting and Torres shaking his hand as with Lt. Brown.

"So there is no murder case to get to with the Coast Guard finding a body in the harbor?" He will say when he sees the expression on Tim's face.

"Yeah! there is Boss. Director Leon Vance is going to let you ride along with me. While we investigate the case. Shall we Director Vance?" Tim will asked with Gibbs eyes glistening with the news.

"Get going already and good luck with finding the killer of the Navy diver." Vance will mention to have Gibbs using that quick mind of his.
