Sam refused to apologize for being right. She knew she was right and there was nothing wrong with being right. He was just going to have to deal with it. Laying there knowing that he was awake and refusing to apologize to her was just making her even more angry. He should be sorry for the way he was acting.

As she lay there thinking everything over she realized that she hadn't taken her pills before getting into bed. It was just calcium and magnesium so it could wait until morning but she was awake and maybe getting up would help ease a bit of her growing tension. She threw back the covers and slid her feet to the floor. As she pushed up she heard his voice, barely more than a whisper.

"Please don't leave me."

She plopped back down on the bed and looked over her shoulder at him. The room was dark but there was just enough light for her to make out the tension in his shoulders. She scooted over next to him, placing her hand on his chest as she sat with her weight on her hip.

"I was just going to the bathroom to take my pills. I forgot earlier."

"Oh." He tried to keep a blank mask on his face but she could see the relief. He'd really thought she was leaving him over a stupid argument. She stretched out beside him, keeping her hand on his chest.

"I'm not going anywhere." She slid her hand up and cupped his jaw. "I love you."

He turned towards her, wrapping his arms around her, pulling her in close as he pressed his face against her neck. "Love isn't always enough."

Sometimes it was easy for her to forget, because he always seemed to be on such an even keel, but when Charlie died a black hole had opened within him. The ravages of its gravitational pull had doomed his marriage and sucked all the light from his life. Only after Abydos did a sliver a brightness pierce that darkness. The light within him had grown over the years as the black hole shrank, but it had not fully disappeared. She knew why he feared love was not enough. It was her job to keep proving to him that her love wasn't fragile and would always be enough. That he was all she wanted and needed.
