It all started with a coronation. Deep underground, there was a castle with those that were left unknown to Unova were hidden. It was here that seven robed men were waiting for their soon to be king to be crowned king of Team Plasma. Team Plasma is an organization that sees the world of being a Pokemon trainer as wrong. There were many that believed in their soon to be king's ideals. Being cruel to Pokemon was a bad thing and many wished for Pokemon to be treated better than they currently were. Even if it meant that they should be separated from people forever. After all, was it right for Pokemon and people to be together if people were treating Pokemon as servants rather than equals?
It took some time, but eventually their soon to be king entered the room, walking down the aisle to the end of the room. When he got there, one of the robed men walked up with a crown in his hand. "My fellow sages," The man with green hair, whose name was Ghetsis, said. "Today we are here at an important part of our history going forward. Our new king will lead Unova and beyond down a path of equality and peace between Pokemon and people. No longer will Pokemon be enslaved. Instead, they will truly be equals with people! Now, without further ado, I crown our king, King N!" At this, Ghetsis placed the crown on top of N's green haired head. "So, N, are you ready to free Pokemon from the cruelty of the world?"
N was silent for a moment. After all, he cared a lot about Pokemon. Ever since he was young, N was surrounded by Pokemon that were mistreated by humans. Whether they be forced to fight each other or dress up in Contests, Pokemon have been the cruel playthings of humans for far too long. If Pokemon and humans couldn't peacefully interact, then they should be separated. "Yes, I am ready," N simply answered, ready to free Pokemon from people.
It was a bright and sunny day in the Kanto region where Ash had decided to visit all of his Pokemon at Professor Oak's lab. Throughout his journeys, he had caught and made friends with many different Pokemon, from the humble Bulbasaur to the cocky Buizel. Of course, of all of his Pokemon, his closest companion was his cute yet powerful Pikachu. When Ash and his Pikachu, his only constant companion on his journeys arrived at Professor Oaks, Ash called out "Hey everyone, We're back!" In an instant, his Bulbasaur happily approached him. "Hey there buddy. Great to see ya! So, do you know where everyone else is at?"
Ash and Pikachu were a bit confused to see that Bulbasaur was the only Pokemon currently present out of all of their Pokemon. Suddenly, Bulbasaur launched a Solar Beam into the sky. In mere moments, all of Ash's Pokemon arrived to greet the young trainer from his affectionate Bayleef to his fifty Tauros to his fiery spirited Infernape. Immediately upon arriving, Bayleef knocked down Ash in an affectionate Tackle. "Aw, it's great to see you too, Bayleef. But can you please get off me? I want to greet the rest of my Pokemon." Bayleef complied, letting the rest of the boy's Pokemon greet Ash. In an instant, Gible, his most recent capture, latched himself onto Ash's head. This hurt a little bit but Ash didn't complain too much, after all this was just how Gible showed his affection. After Ash was able to get Gible off of his head, he turned to his remaining Pokemon who were all ready to show the young trainer the results of their personal training in case he ever called on them again. However, before he could see much of his Pokemon's training, Ash was greeted with a familiar voice.
"Well, it looks like there was no need to worry about you after all, Ash. You seem to have gotten along well with your Pokemon since Brock and I left," The voice, which belonged to a blue haired girl, greeted the young boy. When Ash turned his head to see if he was indeed seeing one of his old friends, he was happy to be reunited with Dawn and her blue penguin Piplup.
"Dawn! It's great to see you!" Ash happily greeted his old Coordinator friend from Sinnoh. "So, take part in any new contests yet?"
"Not yet. I was just on my way to take a boat for Hoenn when Piplup and I decided to drop by for a visit. Besides, the next ferry for Hoenn doesn't leave for a few days," Dawn explained as Piplup jumped out of Dawn's arms and happily agreed, happy to see Ash and Pikachu again. "I must say it must be pretty nice being surrounded by pretty much all of your Pokemon, right Ash?"
"It is. I haven't had the chance to be around all my Pokemon and relax for quite some time. That's what happens when you spend most of your time out on the road. Still, I wish there was a new region for me to go to and meet new Pokemon in," Ash pondered as Pikachu nodded in agreement.
"I know what you mean. That's why I plan to go to Hoenn," Dawn simply answered.
Before the two could continue talking, Professor Oak came out of his laboratory, having exciting news for the two young trainers. "Great news, you two! I just got a call from Professor Juniper and she is willing to house me and a few friends while I visit the Unova region on business. If you want I can allow for you two and Delia to come along with me. You would be able to meet many new Pokemon that couldn't be found in the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, or Sinnoh regions."
"Are you kidding? That sounds exciting! Right Pikachu?" Ash asked his buddy, who gave an affirmative cry. "Great! So, what about you, Dawn? Do you and Piplup want to go with us or what?"
Dawn just stood there uncertainly, debating with herself whether or not she and Piplup should go with Ash, Pikachu, Delia, and Professor Oak. Eventually, however, she decided, "I guess I could go there while waiting for the ferry to Hoenn to be ready. Besides, maybe I can think of some new Contest combinations in the meantime. It's a deal you guys."
"Perfect! You two might want to rest up for tomorrow, because that is when we are going. In a zap we will be on our own path," Professor Oak said.
"Hey! That sounds like a great poem! "In a zap we will be on our own path." You really know poetry Professor Oak!" Dawn exclaimed, much to the confusion of Ash and the Pokemon Professor.
After Ash and Dawn were done with looking over Ash's Pokemon, they went to Ash's house in order to have dinner and rest for the night.
Meanwhile, Gible and Buizel were both thinking about the journey that their trainer Ash was taking to the Unova region. Buizel was okay with battling and training with the Pokemon back at the lab, but he still was wanting to find new opponents to face which he knew he wouldn't find just staying at the lab. At the same time, Buizel knew that Ash was unlikely to take any of his Pokemon with him aside from Pikachu.
As for Gible, he was also interested in going on a new journey with Ash. After all, if he could learn Draco Meteor with Ash's help then he could do just about anything with him. Overall, Gible wanted to go on a journey with Ash to the Unova region.
The next morning, Ash packed up his stuff and got dressed in the new clothes that he received from his mother in order to prepare for the journey to the Unova region. Dawn was pretty much ready to go to Unova, having gotten dressed in her typical clothes and having everything she needed already packed up. Once ready, the group met with Professor Oak who was outside waiting in a jeep, dressed like he was ready for a vacation.
"Hey there Professor Oak. What's with the getup?" Ash curiously asked the Professor.
"Well, since we are all going on a trip to the Unova region I figured I could get us in the vacationing mood. I'll be able to take some time to relax in between each of my meetings," Professor Oak answered.
"Well, either way we are sure going to enjoy our trip, right Piplup?" Dawn asked her companion, to which Piplup responded with a nod.
"Alright, let's go!" Delia said.
"Oh, but first I need to make a quick stop back at the lab before we leave for Unova," Oak said, having forgotten to have Tracey prepare the starter Pokemon for a new set of trainers that would come in the following day.
So Professor Oak drove their jeep back to the lab in order to inform Tracey what he needed to do in his absence. While they were there, Gible was able to open up the back of the jeep and climbed into the trunk. Buizel noticed this and tried to get the dragon type out of the trunk. However, before he could do so, Ash ended up noticing Buizel.
"Hey Buizel. I get that you want to come with us," Ash guessed at least somewhat accurately, "But I don't think I can take you on this trip with me." Ash gently let down the tough warrior.
"Aw, come on Ash. Maybe you should bring Buizel along with us. Who knows? Team Rocket could end up following us on our vacation and we could use the extra Pokemon in that case," Dawn tried to convince Ash.
After a moment of consideration, Ash finally decided to agree and let Buizel come with them. "All right. You win. You can come with us, Buizel." Buizel tried to explain that Gible was also trying to sneak aboard but was unable to get it out. At this, Ash ran in and explained the situation to Professor Oak, who had no trouble with allowing Buizel to come with them. He gave Ash Buizel's Pokeball and Ash recalled him into the Pokeball before the group drove off for the airport.
Meanwhile at Team Rocket Headquarters, the Team Rocket trio, along with Mime Jr. and Wobuffet were getting a message from their boss Giovanni through a hologram. "Now listen up all of you. I need for you to let me know what Team Rocket's main goal is."
"To take over the world and make a profit for Team Rocket," The trio and their Pokemon repeated.
"Good," The hologram changed to show a map of the Unova region. "This here is the Unova region. Our next operations are to take place in this region. I need you three to infiltrate the Unova region. You will receive further instructions upon arrival. Now go. Giovanni out."
With this, the hologram shut off, leaving the Team Rocket boss to pet his pet Pursian. "Of course, it will only be a matter of time before they encounter the secret organization already operating within the Unova region. Soon, the Unova region will belong to Team Rocket. Even if it means we have to crush this new organization."
Eventually, the group arrived at the airport and got on their flight from Kanto to Unova. While there, the two young trainers and their Pokemon were excited at the thought of meeting some of the new Pokemon that Professor Oak mentioned the other day. Unbeknownst to the excited trainers, there was a lot more in store for them in this brand new region, including Team Rocket sitting a few rows behind them in trenchcoats.
When the plane touched down in Unova, everyone was intrigued by the grand open sea that they were able to see from their windows.
It took a while, but everyone was able to get out of the plane without much issue. Professor Oak and Delia were quick to look for Professor Juniper while Dawn and Ash took in their surroundings along with Pikachu and Piplup, with Gible hiding not that far behind them. While Ash and Dawn couldn't see much other than the ocean from their vantage point, they were still curious to see just what type of new Pokemon that they could meet in this new region.
Just as the two young trainers arrived at the main port they noticed a few things right away. One was that there was a group of people wearing strange matching outfits handing out flyers. Upon being given one, Dawn read it to see that it said "Trainers are a plague. Free your Pokemon today." Neither Ash, Pikachu, Dawn, or Piplup knew what the message was supposed to mean, but they were not happy about what it was implying. Another was that a familiar, yet conflicting face was also there.
"Paul? Is that you?" Dawn asked upon seeing Ash's Sinnoh rival.
"Huh? Oh, so it's you guys. What are you two doing here?" Paul asked, trying to look indifferent to their presence.
"Oh, hey Paul," Ash greeted, trying to be as nice as he can in spite of their rivalry. "We're here on vacation. Not only that, but we're here to see some new Pokemon that are found in the Unova region."
"Hm. And here I thought that you wanted to compete in the Unova league. How pathetic," Paul muttered with a grin.
"Hey! Just because we weren't aware that there was a league until now doesn't mean that we're pathetic!" Dawn angrily defended.
"Wait. There is a league here in Unova too?" Ash realized.
"Yes, there is. I heard from Professor Rowan and decided to try it out. It took me a few flights, but I finally arrived here and just so you know I came here to win. I may have lost to you back in Lily of the Valley, but this time will be different. Hopefully we'll be seeing each other there, Ash," Paul said, being almost respectful to the fairly different trainer.
"So, Paul, how did you do against Brandon in your rematch?" Ash asked out of curiosity.
At this, Paul gave a surprised look before his look became more serious. "I did a bit better than before, but in the end I still lost. After that loss I decided I needed to do some more training to be ready for my next attempt at battling him, or at least figure out what I should try and do next. Who knows? Maybe next time my Pokemon and I actually win."
At this, Paul started to walk away until Dawn called out, "Hey Paul! Maybe Ash and you can battle sometime. What do you say?"
At this, Paul turned around and looked at Dawn.
"You know what? That actually sounds pretty cool. What do you say, Paul?" Ash agreed with Dawn's idea.
"Maybe. Not right now. But trust me, when we battle again I plan on winning," Paul responded as he was about to leave. However, before Paul could leave, everybody noticed that there was a female trainer chasing after and trying to recall a Pokemon to its Pokeball.
The Pokemon could easily be described as a grass snake with arms and legs. Said snake was quick to dodge every attempt at recalling it that the trainer tried. "Come back here and enter your Pokeball! Stop being a pest!" Of course, the Pokemon was just more interested in dodging the red beam than entering the Pokeball. "Alright, that is it! You are going back into your Pokeball right now, Snivy!" The trainer proceeded to throw Snivy's Pokeball at her only for Snivy to hit the Pokeball with a green glowing tail, slicing the Pokeball in two with a Leaf Blade. Now being free from her trainer, Snivy proceeded to run off to another part of the port. "Well, who needs you anyway?! I can go about being a Pokemon trainer without you!" The trainer was about to leave when Ash and Dawn interrupted her. Paul, meanwhile, gave a critical yet curious glare.
"Hey, my name is Ash and this is Pikachu. The friend on my right is Dawn and her Pokemon is a Piplup. So, what just happened between you and your Pokemon anyway?" Ash asked with an unhappy look on his face.
"Oh. You saw all that?" The trainer blushed in embarrassment as Ash and Dawn gave nods of confirmation. "Well, you see my starter Pokemon Snivy was being a giant pain as usual and wouldn't go back in her Pokeball no matter what I tried to do. However, I think that I will be a whole lot happier now that that pest is no longer weighing me down." The girl said with a smirk.
Ash and Pikachu, on the other hand, were extremely unhappy with this girl's attitude. "So that's it? You're just going to give up on her just like that? What about your training and the good times you spent with her?" Ash was very upset with the trainer, with Pikachu agreeing with the sentiments with a cry.
"Yeah. I've been a trainer long enough to know that you can't just give up on your Pokemon. You need to bond with them and compromise with them, not give up on them the first time there is trouble," Dawn helped Ash argue.
"Believe it or not, actually almost agree with these two. I learned recently that Pokemon's strength can grow depending on who they are with. I still believe that Pokemon are either gifted or they aren't, but some can break the mold under the right circumstances. Clearly though, your inability to work with your Pokemon makes you pretty pathetic," Paul said before he left, much to the discomfort of Ash, Pikachu, Dawn, and Piplup.
"Well, excuse me for having a Pokemon that doesn't ever want to listen to me," the girl trainer argued. "Look, it would be best for both me and Snivy that we never see each other again. I'll just have to look for a new Pokemon. Now, goodbye." At this, the female trainer left without another word.
"Man, we just got here and our first new Pokemon just had to belong to a trainer that didn't want her. Still, as much as I hate to admit it, there may just be trainers out there that can't get along with their Pokemon," Ash dejectedly said, with Pikachu mirroring the sentiment.
"I know. Well, hopefully wherever that Snivy ends up she will be much happier now," Dawn and Piplup were also unhappy with the events that unfolded.
"Maybe. What do you think about what Paul said? I don't know whether or not to agree with him or not. After all, it seems like he's somewhat beginning to understand that Pokemon are friends, not data. However, Paul also still seems to be a bit of a jerk still. Looks like our rivalry may be back on. I just hope we can at least respect each other still," Ash voiced his thoughts aloud.
Even though Ash, Dawn, and Piplup couldn't see it, there was a dark thundercloud starting to move in the sky close to the port. Pikachu, however, noticed the cloud and jumped off of Ash's shoulder to follow the cloud and see what was going on with it.
The group noticed that Pikachu was running back to the port and followed after him. "Hey, buddy. Where are you headed?" Ash asked his partner. However instead of seeing a cloud in the sky, the group instead saw a pink fish Pokemon, an Alomomola jumped out of the sea and into the air for a brief moment before it landed in the sea again.
"Wow. What a pretty Pokemon, right Piplup?" Dawn asked in amazement at seeing the grace at which the Pokemon had jumped. Piplup agreed with Dawn, though was a bit annoyed to admit it seeing as how he was Dawn's main Pokemon.
"Amazing. We just got here and we've already met two of the Unova region's Pokemon. I can't wait to see what else this region has in store!" Ash expressed his excitement over the Pokemon sighting. Before the group could go back and look for Professor Oak and Delia, Pikachu was suddenly trapped in a black metal cage. "Pikachu! Alright, who did this?!" Ash yelled as he looked up to see that those responsible were wearing trench coats.
"Who did this is the question indeed," The female trenchcoated person responded.
"We'll answer it as we feel the need," The male trenchcoated person responded. At this, the trio removed their trench coats, revealing themselves to be the Team Rocket trio of Jessie, James, and Meowth in their traditional white Team Rocket uniforms. Wobuffet and Mime Jr. also popped out of their Pokeballs to introduce themselves to the twerps.
"Team Rocket! Here? What are you doing here, anyway?! Why can't you learn your lesson and stop trying to steal our Pokemon?!" Ash demanded the trio step down.
"I should ask you the same question. Why are you twerps here anyway?" Meowth asked Ash and Dawn.
"We're here on vacation. And we are going to take it back! Piplup, use Bubblebeam!" Dawn cried out. Piplup responded by blasting the cage with a torrent of bubbles.
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt to break free!" Ash called out to his partner Pikachu. Pikachu complied and a strong Thunderbolt shot out from within the cage. However, in spite of their Pokemon's best efforts, nothing seemed to be even scratching the cage Pikachu was in.
The trio laughed as they were happy with the strength of the metal Giovanni provided them. "You honestly think your attacks can break through our metal?" Jessie asked as she mocked the young trainers.
"Our boss has provided us with the best metal money can buy. Pikachu will be ours for sure!" James added on.
Meanwhile, both Gible and the wild Snivy had noticed what Team Rocket was up to. They both wanted to stop the evil team from getting away with Ash's Pikachu. However, before either of them could act, there was suddenly a thunderstorm forming over the skies of the airport, taking away most of the power to the airport's technology. Suddenly, a strong bolt of lightning rained down, freeing Pikachu from his cage and knocking back Ash, Pikachu, Dawn, Piplup, and Team Rocket.
Upon being knocked back, Ash asked in concern, "Hey, is everyone alright?"
"Yeah, we're fine," Dawn confirmed as she and Piplup got back up.
"What about you, Pikachu? You doing fine?" Ash asked his partner as he also got back up. Pikachu confirmed with a cry as he got back up as well. However, shortly after Pikachu got up, he was being surrounded by a surge of electricity, much to everyone's shock and confusion. Pikachu shot out a bolt of electricity into the sky where the thunderstorm was taking place, only for the bolt to do nothing.
Much to everyone's confusion, there was a black dragon-shaped creature that could barely be made out in the sky. Ash and Dawn both noticed this and were confused as to the identity of this strange creature. "Is that a Pokemon?" Ash asked, only for Dawn to not have any response to this question.
Also watching this from afar was Paul, who looked in awe at the powerful Pokemon that had appeared, even though he could barely make it out from his current location.
Before anyone could wonder any further, another bolt of lightning was about to rain down on Pikachu. Thankfully, Ash noticed this and grabbed Pikachu protectively, much to the shock of the Snivy that was watching the whole thing. The bolt rained down, knocking the two back. At this however, the storm ended as quickly as it began, with no real evidence leftover to prove that anything had happened.
So, what do you think? Sorry I deleted the first two versions of this story, but I wanted to give this story one more try. I plan on making some more changes in the future coming up. Hopefully you will all enjoy.
