Siren song
Thank you for reading! This story is based off of a song I recently became obsessed with. More of a modern day take on Naruto, this chapter is rated M for mature as well as future steamy chapters.
I do have a Pinterest album with pictures following the story @notalizzy Siren song.
I own no rights to the songs in the story or the characters.
"No! I will not obey you! I will keep fighting, every day, every night. I will fight until I am free." I scream out at the dark haired man in front of me, a slight smirk formed in the corner of his mouth during my rant.
This can't be happening.. This is soap opera bullshit, this can't be real life. Maybe I'm in a coma? Or maybe I'm dead. Yeah dead, that sounds right.
"I'm not here to hurt you, I am simply here to claim what's mine."

So I guess I better start back to the day this all started, back at that stupid concert held at the old fairgrounds...
"Sakura! Hey over here!" A blonde woman calls out as I'm walking past her booth. I perk up some at seeing my friend waving me over to her flower booth, pulling me from my anxious thoughts.
"Hey! How's the flower selling going?" I call back as I walk up to Ino, my long light pink hair waving some in the slight breeze passing through.
"Oh you know, flower crowns all day long. You look amazing! That dress definitely suits you well. You look all grown up." She beams as I stop at the front of my friends booth. I look down at my long white dress, the white and pink ombré material flows down right above my heals, the side is slit up to my mid thigh. I'm extremely grateful for Ino's mom finding this for me, it's definitely one of my favorites now.
"Yeah, it's definitely beautiful but I'm hoping the rain stays away until after the show." I say, my emerald eyes looking up at the slightly cloudy sky. The forecast said it's supposed to rain later tonight but I can see the dark starting to over take the sunset.
"Here... This would look beautiful in your hair!" Ino says, tossing me a white lily to put into my messy hair. I grab it from the air and slip it into my hair next to my right ear, saying a brief thanks to the blue eyed woman.
"So are you nervous for your show? I'm excited to see it! I've got my mom to watch the stand when you go on so I can be in the crowd.. Or back stage." She quirks an eyebrow at me, silently asking if I can get her backstage to meet the other performers. I laugh lightly before nodding.
"Of course, I need someone to touch up my make up anyways. I'm not too nervous, just the normal scare of missing a note or my voice breaking." I say before she walks around her table and loops her arm through mine before we walk towards the giant black stage area. People have already started taking their seats to see the show, there's got to be at least 300 chairs set up around the stage.
I'm supposed to sing a couple of songs and open for this major band traveling through the area. I usually do these kinds of gigs, it brings in some extra money and I get to meet all sorts of people. Konoha might be a large city but living here all your life, you end up meeting most of the inhabitants which makes life rather boring.
So I sing in these shows, always coming back to hear the crowd cheer every time for me. It's definitely a confidence boost that my dull medic life so desperately needs.
"Hey, Sakura!" I'm pulled from my thoughts, and Ino's rambling that fell on deaf ears, only to see Naruto jumping and waving from across the crowd. I smile and wave back as Ino and I round the metal fence that heads backstage. He runs up to us before slinging an arm around my shoulders, falling into step with us.
"This place is an all out show isn't it?!" He says grinning at me, I nod as we continue walking beside the chain link fence.
"Name?" A burly man in a suit asks as he stops us from walking the rest of the way, his dark eyes almost looking through us as I go to respond.
"Sakura Haruno, Ino Yamanaka, Naruto Uzumaki." I say simply, watching absentmindedly as the man writes our names on a clip board before letting us pass.
"Security is always so tight at these things." Ino says, looking behind us at the man as we continue our walk to the make up area back stage. There are tables set up carelessly in no order around the mirrors behind a black curtain blocking outside view to what's going on.
"Well time to fix up my face. Ino.. if you don't mind." I say, sitting in front of one of the mirrors. She nods excitedly before grabbing the make up bag from my hand and going to work on my face.
"Soo what are you singing tonight, Sakura." Naruto asks, his blue eyes looking to the other people rushing around us.
"Black Sheep is the first and Born to the Night is the second. You planning on sticking around?" I ask as Ino starts putting all sorts of things in my face, he shrugs before nodding.
"Yeah I think I'll hang out, we can get dinner once you're done." He says, trying to lean on the mirror only to have it rock slight causing him to jump back up and throw his hands to it to stop it from falling over. Ino and I laugh to ourselves at the sight, leaving the blonde haired man to rub his neck awkwardly.
"Hey speaking of, would you want to lead guitar or drums for me?" I ask, looking to the left as Ino is applying eyeliner to my lash lines.
"Yeah I could do guitar for you!" He says, his face lighting up at the opportunity to play.
"Alright, in my bag there is the sheet music for it if you want to go over it. There should be a guitar area back behind that curtain, mine is the blue base with an ivory band on the front. We've got about an hour until I'm on." He nods and grabs the papers and starts studying it before going to grab the instrument. I came by earlier to make sure everything was set up and dropped off my guitar before forgetting about make up.
"Is he going to be able to learn it in time..?" Ino asks, starting to apply eye shadow to my lids.
"Yeah I'm not worried, he jumps at any chance of helping with music. He loves playing and learning different songs to play, so an hour will be plenty for him." I say, moving my hair back from being in the way.
"Well this will certainly be a show." She says, putting the finishing touches on my face before stepping back and eyeing me like something to be judged.
"Perfect!" She says, finally turning the mirror more towards my face so I can see. I smile as my face looks completely made up, my light pink eye shadow making the black eyeliner pop. My eye lashes are long and black, almost looking fake.
"Thank you, it looks gorgeous." I say, moving my hair back to frame my face. She smiles and nods before grabbing another chair for her to sit on, meanwhile Naruto is headed back with my guitar in his hand. He's grinning eagerly as he plops down next to us on the ground, setting the sheets in front of him before beginning to play.
We rehearse for the next hour, almost completely perfecting our routine for the first song. Neither song really required having anyone playing instruments but it's more of a crowd pleaser to have something going on other than me singing.
"Sakura Haruno, you're up next please be prepared we're three minutes out." One of the stage people says causing me to nod as I stand and run my hands over my dress. I look myself over before hugging Ino as Naruto stands as well, both of us heading for the stage.
I almost fumble up the stairs as I try to keep my balance in these ridiculous red heels, they're beautiful and lace up my leg but they're not exactly easy to walk in.
Naruto grabs my elbow to help me up the rest of the stairs before we stop on the edge of the stage. We get the go ahead and start walking out, my pink and white dress flowing behind me as we walk to our cued spot on the blacked out stage.
I nod at Naruto after the crowd quiets down, the sun setting and casting on orange glow to everything. He starts playing the first few notes before the spotlight shoots onto me as I start the first verse, holding the microphone semi close to my face as I sing.
"Hello again, friend of a friend, I knew you when
Our common goal was waiting for the world to end
Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend
You crack the whip, shape-shift and trick the past again
Send you my love on a wire
Lift you up, every time, everyone, ooh, pulls away, ooh
From you-"
I sing out as I spin around on the stage, my dress flowing out around me before I turn around to the crowd again.
"Got balls of steel, got an automobile, for a minimum wage
Got real estate, I'm buying it all up in outer space
Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend
You crack the whip, shape-shift and trick, the past again
Send you my love on a wire
Lift you up, every time, everyone, ooh, pulls away, ooh
It's a mechanical bull, the number one
You'll take a ride from anyone
Everyone wants a ride, pulls away, ooh, from you."
I sing the last note, holding it as Naruto comes up next to me, finishing the song out as the crowd goes wild. I smile at him and kiss his cheek as we look out together at the standing crowd in front of us, cheering and whistling at us as we grin.
"Thank you! Please give it up for my guitarist, Naruto!" I speak into the microphone before he bows and hugs me to him before leaving stage right. The lights dim out again as I walk back to the microphone stand, everyone in the crowd growing quiet as I clear my throat and nod at the manager box to start the next song.
"I've been waiting until midnight
slowly dying since the sunrise
Cause I, I was born,
I was born to the night
In the night, in the night, I survive
All the poise and the pleasure that hides
I was born, I was born to be
So insane
I tell my heart to sleep all day
'Cause I don't wanna deal with anything, I need a break
Dusk 'til dawn, in the city where the wild things are
When the wolves are out, no doubt, they're cryin' out my name."
I almost falter in singing as my eyes go across the crowd, I swear my eyes saw something red glaring at me.. I continue the song, still trying to keep the performance going.
"Screamin' "Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh"
I'm in the mood
My leather boots
Are comin' out,
comin' out
I've been waiting until midnight slowly dying since the sunrise
Cause I, I was born, I was born to the night
In the night, in the night, I survive
All the poise and the pleasure that hides
I was born, I was born to just
Face my fears
Makin' friends with all my demons here
Now all my insecurities, they leave the atmosphere
Screamin' "Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh"
I'm in the mood
My leather boots
Are comin' out, comin' out
I've been waiting until midnight
Slowly dying since the sunrise
'Cause I, I was born, I was born to the night
In the night, in the night, I survive
All the poise and the pleasure that hides
I was born, I was born to the night
The night is my mother
The sky is my brother
And I'm her daughter, the star cross lover
The night is my mother
The sky is my brother
And I'm her daughter, the star cross lover
'Cause I, I was born, I was born to the night
In the night, in the night, I survive
All the poise and the pleasure that hides
I was born, I was born to the night.."
I finish singing and breathe in heavily as the crowd goes wild again, rolling my eyes at some of the catcalls the men are yelling out at me.
"Please give it up for Sakura Haruno!" The announcer says, the brown haired man walking out and putting a hand on my bare shoulder. I smile at the cheers before bowing and walking off strange right where Ino is practically jumping up and down.
"Forehead! That was amazing!! Did you hear the crowd?? They went wild!!" She squeals as she pulls me into a hug. Her puffy armed romper now covered in glitter somehow.
"Thanks, pig." I say, smiling as Naruto walks back towards us.
"Awesome job! We were great! Well you were amazing!" He says, lifting me up by my waist and hugging me. I laugh as I'm twirled around before he sets me back down, completely oblivious to the black eyes watching us from the other wing.
"Time for dinner!" Naruto yells out as we make our way back to collect my things.
"What about the show? Ino didn't you want to see them?" I ask, glancing at the blonde as I grab my backpack from the table.
"Uhmm... I kind of already met them backstage." She grins sheepishly, trying to brush the glitter off of her clothes. I giggle some and shake my head, she had a personal mission coming here apparently.
"Alright then, dinner it is." I respond as we all start heading for the exit, suddenly being stopped as a man from the crowd steps in front of us. My breath catches in my throat as he begins to talk.
"You sang beautifully, miss Haruno." The hooded man says, his eyes black as night as he looks at me. His face is pretty hidden, but the bits I see are almost haunting. He reminds me of...
"Hey Sakura come on, thank you!" Ino barges in between the man and myself to continue our walk out of the stage area.
"What a creep." She mumbles into my ear as she ushers me away and to the sidewalk. I nod numbly, casting one glance over my shoulder to just to see the man gone from sight. My mind starts wondering over the memory of his face, I've had many people greet me after a show and tell me they liked my voice but this felt different. It felt like a distant memory of someone I used to know.. years ago. But they vanished.
It's just my mind playing tricks on me..
"I think we should go to a bar instead." Ino says as we walk down towards the busy part of down town. People drunkenly leaving bars, yelling at each other and falling all over the place.
"That could be fun, we can call the others to celebrate the show!" Naruto shouts, pulling out his phone from his orange and black jacket. I laugh a little as I try to take my mind off of the weird experience.
"Sure, I've got nothing planned for tomorrow." I say, watching the people walk around us almost glowing from the neon lights littering the street. There's a slight rumble from the sky above us, so we decide to find a bar that looks decent before walking inside one of the closest buildings. The inside of the bar is almost deafening with a live band in the corner, they're currently playing Sweet Jane.
"What are we drinking tonight?" A waitress says as she walks to the giant booth we sat down at.
"I'll take a killer bee, please." Ino chimes as she picks up her phone, going through various apps as I look back to the waitress.
"A bottle of sake and a burger please." Naruto says as he scoots in beside me, his left thigh vaguely touching my right.
"Watermelon sangria please." I say, scooting to the middle of the booth as I see Kiba and Shikamaru walk in, followed by Temari.
"Hey I heard the show was amazing!" Temari says, moving closer to Shikamaru while we all idly talk as our drinks are delivered.
"Yeah it wasn't bad." I say, drinking half of my glass. If earlier is anything to go by I obviously haven't gotten drunk enough to get him off my mind. I quickly order another drink as I try to push my thoughts away. Flashbacks of me clutching our picture and crying start flooding back to me, only to be pushed away by the alcohol hitting my empty stomach.
As everyone continues to talk I continue to drink, giggling some at Ino trying to flirt with Kiba. The poor kid fumbling over his words as she nibbles on the large order of fries on the table. Shikamaru has his arm lazily draped over Temari's shoulders and Naruto is throwing back shots, losing some sort of bet to Shikamaru. I can't help the thoughts swirling in my mind of the dark haired man and how closely he resembled him.. My drunken mind trying to find an answer that's not there. There's no way to know who he was or if he even really looked like Sasuke. His name echos in my ears as I'm staring at my glass in front of me, the reddish liquid littered with different pieces of fruit. It's been years.. There's no way. My brain finally decides, pulling me back into the conversation.
"I told you, losing bets is way too troublesome so I only place bets I know I'll win." Shikamaru says to Naruto, slightly laughing as the blonde's face is starting to get red from all of the alcohol.
"Yeah well you're troublesome." He remarks, causing me to laugh some at the scene in front of me.
"Hey, Sakura, when is your next show? I know you've got to have a ton booked." Temari says, turning towards me and putting her chin on her hand causing me to laugh and nod.
"Of course she does! Have you heard her sing?? It's the best!" Naruto yells out, almost louder than the music. None of the other people in the bar even turn around at his loud remark.
"Thank you, and yeah I've got three more shows before the end of the month." I say, sipping on my third drink.
-
"See you tomorrow Sakura!" Ino calls, Kiba following behind her as they walk away from my apartment. I wave before stumbling into my living room, locking the door behind me and setting my case and bag to the side. I finally bend down to untie these stupid shoes.
"Beautiful song tonight." I hear causing me to gasp and fumble back towards my front door. I look up with blurry eyes before seeing a dark figure on my couch. I squint some before focusing in on the man in my living room.
"What the fuck."
I move somewhat quickly and turn the light on, only to turn around to find the figure is gone. I shake my head slightly and look around cautiously, eyeing every corner of my apartment. My shoe is loosely laced and hitting my shin as I walk around, glancing in my bedroom before turning around smack into a body. I stumble back and catch myself on the door frame of my bedroom, looking up and meeting onyx eyes staring back at me.
"S.. Sasuke..?" I breathe out, frozen in place as this ghost is standing in my hallway in front of me.
"Sakura." He says simply, not moving but watching every breath I take. My mind goes blank as I stare at his face, his black hood dropped around his neck. His black hair is framing his face, his features lightly illuminated by the living room light. And his black eyes.. staring into my soul and freezing me to the spot.
"What.. What are you doing here?" I breathe out, almost silently.
"I came to see your show." He says, his unwavering stare almost melting me into the floor.
"I meant what are you doing in my house." I say, finally catching my voice enough to talk louder.
"Let's sit down." He says, motioning to my couch but his eyes never leaving mine.
"W-Why? What do you have to say to me?" I finally get out, feeling anger pool into my system.
"I have a proposition, please." He says, motioning to the couch again. I move silently stalking towards the loveseat across from my couch.
What the fuck is happening..
"What do you want." I almost seethe out, the alcohol in my system finally giving me the tongue I want to use against him.
"I want to enact on a deal made between us." The dark haired man says, sitting in front of me with his legs loosely crossed.
"And why would I have any deals with you. It's been 6 years." I grind out, my blood beginning to boil at the sight in front of me. How uncaring he looks at having to talk to me. It makes me want to punch that grin off his sculptured face. No. I'm not doing this again with him.
"Why so angry? I think you'll want to have this deal if my memory serves me right." He says, still smirking lightly, his mouth barely upturned in the corner. I quickly move and throw a glass at him that I had water in earlier today. He easily moves away from the glass at my drunken throw, only smirking more at my defiance.
"6 years. You've been missing for 6 years and you come back here thinking you can just walk in uninvited to my home and demand I make a deal with you? Well you have me severely fucked up if you think I'm going to agree to anything you say." I yell at him, still glued to my spot on the couch. He scoffs at me before leaning forward, his lavender dress shirt bunching up under his black over coat.
"Petty feelings over something done in the past."
"Oh because you're one to talk about petty feelings from the past." I bite at him before he can finish talking, he shoots a glare at me briefly before turning back into the smug asshole he was when we first sat down.
"I'll ignore that, but don't you want to hear what I'm going to bring up?" He says, leaning back into the couch once more.
"Not particularly, I'd actually prefer it if you just left." All feelings of sadness gone and replaced by anger at his attitude.
"Well be that as it may, you don't really have a choice. You either accept or you are dragged to hell. Quite literally." He says aimlessly looking back at me briefly.
"Excuse the fuck out of me? What did you just say to me? Are you actually threatening me Sasuke?!" I scream at him, my voice getting louder as my brain tries to understand what the fuck he's talking about.
"I'm not threatening I'm just informing of what happens when you break a deal with a demon." He says, his eyes turning red in front of me.
"What are you talking about? Are you fucking with me? You've got to be some sort of stupid if you think I'm going to believe anything that you-" I start before being cut off by him disappearing in front of me. My body stops all movement, vaguely grasping at the straw saying I was just drunkenly hallucinating. I almost fall over as a hand appears on the back of my neck, followed by a voice next to the shell of my ear.
"Don't make me prove myself." He says quietly, almost huskily in my ear. His breath graces over my skin and I feel a shiver run down my spine as I try to process this whole thing.
"I.. What are you talking about. What deal." I say finally, feeling him back away from me before returning to the couch in front of me.
"I'm talking about the deal where you said you'd stay with me forever whenever I asked." He says, causing my face to scrunch up trying to remember what he's talking about.
What... Oh.. but that wasn't..
~
"I love you Sasuke.. More than anything." A young pink haired girl says to the raven boy beside her. Her sea foam green eyes shying away from his look, her heart is almost beating through her chest as he moves slightly next to her.
"Hn." He responds, vaguely even acting like he heard her. Her face contorts into something equal to shock and pain then anger. The sixteen year old clenches her fists as she stares at him.
"That's all you can say?! After everything you can't even say it back?!" She suddenly yells, jumping up from the bench with her hair almost flaring around her from the wind. She finally looks at him, red in the face from embarrassment and anger at the raven haired boy in front of her. He lazily looks up with an empty look on his face.
"Words are just words. They mean nothing." He says, his onyx eyes looking away uninterested in the situation in front of him.
"Are you kidding? What are you wanting me to say? What are you wanting me to do? When will I be enough for you?!" She says, fighting back tears from the blatant rejection from the boy she loved so much.
"You wouldn't even be able to make a deal that I'd believe." He says, not looking at her once again.
"I've told you so many times! That I love you and will always love you. No matter what it doesn't change! I'll stay with you forever if you asked. Why is that not enough?" She says, the gods frowning on her as rain drops starting to fall on her pink head.
"If I ever asked you, you would stay with me forever?"
"Of course! I'd make whatever deal I could. I just don't understand why I'm never enough for you."
~
"We were children! I was young and naive to everything around me. Especially you. That wasn't a deal, it was me confessing to you and you rejecting me." I seethe out, my knuckles turning white as I clench my fist.
"It most certainly was a deal, I told you my offer and you accepted. And you can't break that deal unless you want a death worse than anyone could imagine."
"Are you seriously trying to scare me into going with you? You really think that death scares me so much that I'd leave happily with you? You underestimate me, Sasuke." I breathe out, shooting him the deadliest look I can muster. He simply chuckles before sitting forward again.
"You have no idea what you're underestimating in me. If you refuse, your friends will pay the price first." He says, his voice cold as anything with dead eyes looking into my soul.
"What.. Why would you threaten them? They were your friends too.." I mumble out, not understanding what situation I'm in. What is he expecting me to say? Yeah wonderful let's go!
I shake my head and look back at him.
"Simply agree and we won't have to discuss anything happening to them. Or you ever again." He says, his black orbs almost glowing in the light.
"I.. I don't know what I'm supposed to say..." I mumble, my hand reaching up to my face rubbing my temple. All of this stress is causing my head to pound.
"Say yes. And everything will be what you dream of." He says, his voice softening and flowing like honey to my ears. My anger has dissipated and my hazy brain is almost causing me to nod.
"I haven't seen you in years... I don't know you and you don't know me." I say quietly, finding a spot to stare at on the floor.
It's been too long to even slightly know someone, I'm completely different after 6 years so there's no telling who he is now. From all of the memories that I have from my childhood, he wasn't exactly the best person to be around let alone date.
"I've been around, watching as you grew up. Singing at your shows, going out with Ino and Temari. Even going out with Naruto. I've watched you grow up. You just have to trust me and everything will be fine." He says, my eyes slowly moving to his. I feel myself deflate at the mention of harming my friends, if he is serious and they would be hurt... I'd never forgive myself.
"I.. I don't want my friends hurt."
"Then say you agree." He says, standing slowly and bending to my height on the couch. I stare at his features, he grew into everything perfectly. His chin is sharp and his eyes are beautiful, he easily towers over me even in my heals.
"I can make all your dreams come true. No more sadness or loneliness, anything you wished you could have. All you have to do is say yes."
My mind feels foggy as I look at him, my voice is barely a whisper when I finally speak.
"If you agree to no harm coming to my friends, I will agree."
"I guarantee nothing with happen to anyone, you have my word." He says, his eyes watching every move I make.
"I.. I agree." I say, almost instantly everything goes black around me.
R/R would be greatly appreciated!
